Daynote broken with smart covers? - Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) Accessories

I am currently using the Moko smart cover. The first day of use the daynote feature worked great and correctly. Day 2, the note pad feature has changed to blue in color and is not responsive to adding a note, drawing on it or anything as it used to. I can close daynote but not use it. Any ideas? I am hoping it is just user error but curious how to fix the issue. Here is a photo of what it looks like now

Is there a magnet in your case? It may take a couple days to get it back to normal if it's been exposed to magnetism.
Take it off and check your case with a fridge magnet to see if it sticks.

Daynote has been working fine for me, but I have the Samsung cover. You might try clearing data for the Daynote app. (Settings > General > Application Manager)

Yes I have magnets in my case. From what people say there are like 4 in the moko case. Is this an issue or causing the issue? I'll try clearing data to. What's the fridge magnet suppose to do?

A bit Off topic, but what is Day note?? I don't Seem to have it.

If using a smart cover case that is magnetized it will open when you open cover. It's an option under accessories

Tried but there is no option to clear data for daynote as when you close out of it to go to settings, it is no longer running. I have tried.

Cool. Thanks. I am waiting for this same cover to arrive. Hopefully the magnets are not damaging things.

Thanks! Worked like a charm!

I had the same problem with my Samsung book cover. It was fixed by clearing application data in Settings / General / Application manager / ALL / Daynote.

Just about every case has magnets, including the Samsung one. The tablet has sensors in various locations to detect magnets, which allows for features like turning the screen on and off with cover open/close.
That said, I am trying a bunch of different cases, and one of the Moko ones seems to be triggering the screen-off magnets while open and folded back on itself, which is aggravating to say the least.

Lit Screen Woes. My phone's bright beautiful and won't shut up.

I would love it if my screen stayed off when I'm not using my phone. My screen is constantly lighting up. Many different things can trigger it, but once the screen is lit up, it stays lit for hours. This is very stressful. I have not modified my phone; it is stock. I have installed an Snes emulator and Worms Armageddon. That's it.
When I'm charging the phone, I'm usually asleep. When the phone completes recharging, the screen lights up and stays lit ALL FREAKING NIGHT. When I wake in the morning, I have to reach over and hit the button. When it's in my pocket and I receive a text, the screen lights up and STAYS LIT until I reach in and hit the button. Sometimes the phone is lit for an hour or more before I notice the heat in my pocket.
Also, this phone is huge and beautiful and I love it, but it's so wide in my pocket that the power button is constantly being pressed somehow. This also causes the screen to light up and stay lit inside my pocket. So far on average 80-90% of my battery is CONSTANTLY CONSUMED by this screen constantly turning on and staying on when I don't want it to. Do I have any options?
Is there a rom that addresses these issues?
1. Happened a couple times on my wife's stock rooted phone. A dalvik cache clear set it right whenever it happened.
2. Get a TPU case that has holes for buttons. This way buttons would be accessibly only by accessing it wantedly, and not by pockets.
3. Install greenify, and push all games to that. This way your emulator would be put to hibernate mode until needed again.

Yep I'm crazy. I flashed back to stock and low and behold it wasn't there.
I don't feel much closer to a solution here. I would really like to know: Is this behaviour normal for the S3? Do your phones do this too? Or is it just mine? My Galaxy (original) never did this kind of thing. It would light up, then time out, and turn off the screen, like a phone should.
Just today, I open my work locker to check my S3. Screen's on again of course. Why is it on? Because I got a text 2 HOURS AGO. I just .... don't freaking understand this behaviour. It's AWFULY FRUSTRATING AND STRESSFUL.

1. I looked it up. A "dalvik chache clear" requires that I install something called the "Clockwork Mod" - is that right?
2. I have never used a case for my phone and I NEVER will. I suppose I'll just have to put up with the button problem. I'll be more careful maybe.
3. How would pushing my games to greenify solve my problem? Doesn't android automatically hibernate all unused apps anyway? And do you think my Snes emulator is affecting my phone in the way I described? I don't think it would.
1. Yes
3. If an app requests to access resources like internet at regular intervals, android doesn't stop it. Greenify stops this from happening by disabling the app completely. Consider it on lines of disabled service.

I +1 on greenify!
Its a great app!
But don't hibernate apps such as Facebook,Gmail,Twitter, anything with push notifications. Since greenify "freezes" them until you open them manually, you won't receive any notifications. But nonetheless its a great app and battery saver

Greenify sounds great and I'll likely get it.
But none of this addresses the issue: My issue is not with the phone's efficiency. I know it would be fantastically efficient if it didn't permanently light up the screen every time I received a text. This wears out the screen too! THIS is the problem and it's a real big problem!
EDIT: "To prevent spam to the forums, new users must wait five minutes between posts" - Okay but why do I also have to wait 5 minutes to fix my typos? GRRRR!! Website design oversight, I think!

Yeah I checked that. it's always been set to 30 seconds. Thanks though.
To me it sounds like you dont have anything on your phone so why not do a factory reset? You can use SMS Backup to keep all your texts, and everything else is synced. If you dont want to factory reset, then I don't know what.
Id just root it and put a custom recovery such as TWRP and clear both caches.

Should really research using a magnetic cover on the Note 8...not good for the digitizer. Over time it can create dead spots on the touch screen.
It is a known bug...and as for magnetic covers causing issues....It's just a myth...Use a good quality one

Yeah l use my note 8 with a samsumg cover. I didnt get my kids up intime for school the other morning as l apparently for the first time closed the cover while having the alarm set. Played with it and found it doesnt ring with the cover on. Kind of a weird thing to not have your alarm go off just because you closed the cover. If l set an alarm that normally means l NEED it to go off

Well, just 4.2.2 does not cut it, considering 4.2.2 update was what broke it in the first place.
Unless you have the latest updates from september (MI ) it is unlikely that it's fixed in the firmware you are running, however you should be getting updates soon enough depending on your region and device.
I had the same issue on the Alarm not going on with the cover. Couldnt figure it out and thought it was the setting.
I hope someone finds a way to fix this problem or another update. Have 4.2.2 and I would check and says Im up to date.
As for the Magnetic case and screen, it seems that the factory Samsung cover is safe for the screen. That is what I went with.

Question about screen

Hi,
I want to ask, what's happened with my P600 screen. What's this near "home" button?
These dots are under the screen (glass).
It doesn't seem to effect the touchscreen but this could become a future problem. Picture will be attached (though it could be hard to see).
Maybe screen digitizer has broken?
Its need to replace a screen or screen digitizer?
Thank you for advance

No its not dangerous. It's just a cosmetic issue thats all ... depends if you care enough to give it to Samsung to fix. Personally I would just leave it as once repaired it wont come back the same but then again some people are different and the bubbles at the bottom would annoy them.

Good news. I received my tablet from RMA with new screen.
But there is another problem. Tablet "see" that S-Pen is always removed from tablet and always active although S-Pen inside. When I remove it, there is no vibrate and sound. When I put S-Pen again inside, there is no vibrate and sound too. More, is always active icon on the top of left screen corner when S-Pen inside in the dock. I try turn off S-Pen detection function and did factory reset but problem still exist.
General question: when service replaced screen, the new screen comes (includes) with new S-Pen dock or new S-Pen or not? I think was damaged sensor in the dock.
I attached screenshot of my tablet.

[Q] Tab S 8.4 will not auto-rotate screen! Stuck on portrait.

I just got the Tab S 8.4 yesterday and I am trying to figure if I am missing something. My screen will not rotate, it will stay in portrait mode all the time, it will not go to landscape mode on anything...youtube, internet, gallery, etc. Yes...the SCREEN ROTATION is on in settings. I have turned it on and off and still nothing. I even went ahead and did a reset. Still nothing.
Am I missing something?
Probably not, just need to return it. Something might be wrong with its hardware or software that will not make the screen rotate.
Is screen rotation highlighted when you pull down the notification panel? If it is download SENSOR BOX FOR ANDROID from play and see if the orientation sensor is working.

Set orientation did work. It did change the orientation of the screen from portrait to landscape. But it stood that way, meaning everything was either going to be stuck in portrait mode or landscape.
As for the launcher...its stock touchwiz. I have not tried any other launchers.

Ok, I downloaded app and no good. The gyroscope sensor did not move correctly. The accelerometer sensor showed me the worse. The ball just rolled to the top right corner and stood there. Did not move at all, even when I slam down on any direction. Returning this tablet.

I bought an Open Box for about $90 off from Best Buy, the 10.5 Tab S, and had the same issue with no rotation of screen. I only tested it with other programs that will change orientation for you, and it worked then, but not automatically, only when using the app. I checked all settings, including accessibility, I flushed the cache using the Recovery mode, but no luck. I did get lucky though at Best Buy, as they were awesome and ended up giving me a brand new one in exchange, without any additional charge. There may be some manufacturing defects in the sensors that are causing these issues. Good luck to you too sir.
Ive seen it said that some people, who've had the same problem, gave the tablet a sharp slap on the back to fix it.

i know this thread is 1 year old however i purchased a brand new S2 8 inch tablet from canada computers and it too will not rotate the screen on its own. If i use a 3rd party software it has no issues rotating but it stays that way until i rotate it otherwise manually. Brand new less than 1 day old and i already have to warranty it with Samsung disappointed that such a premium tablet having an issue out of the box. Also all sensor software in install all indicate there are no sensors installed.
Edit: ok now everything works great and all sensors work now on Sensor Box. I had to do a hard cache reset of the cache partition using that dos look alike menu at startup.

This confuses me since the Android settings Backup / Restore has "Factory Reset" which I did twice and it didn't work, then I pressed power button, volume up and home button to bring up the other menu on bootup and selected the format cache partition option. This resolved the issue and was happy I didn't loose my data unlike the backup/restore had wiped all my data. Is that still considered a factory reset? I did see the option to factory reset but didn't select it, I opted to try the cache partition instead which I was glad had worked. Saved me from taking my new unit back to be repaired.
theres an app called bubble level (spirit level) i used to re-calibrate my sensor since there isn't a built in way anymore, if the slapping doesn't work or you don't wanna risk it try that.

Flip covers that actually do something usually have one or more magnets inside which when the cover is closed trigger a sensor in the phone. I haven't heard about stuff a flip cover to exist for this phone
