The flip covers will protect it from dust and moisture to certain extent but the screen itself is not scratch resistant. So yes, I would advise that you should definitely get a screen cover/guard.

hi
thanls buddy thats exactly what i thought looks like u took words out of my mind i got the screen gaurd today evening :good::laugh:

no gorilla glass
SAMSUNG should provide gorilla glass in grand .....
then we'll not need to use screen protector....

no ya u need it only if u r bothered about scratches and screen looking ugly after scratch

REMAX is goood!

Actually after using about 5-6 screen guards i ended up with not using any because the scratches on screen guard appears within few days.!and looks weird ....it has been about one month using my grand without screen guard and woha! There is not even a single scratch

Agreed even me doing the same.....

same here
I too used a shock resistant screen guard. But the ugly look caused by scratches made it look worse. Now i use it without the screen guard. The touch performs better without any screen covers. I love my phone and even with cm12 it really works better.

i use Nillkin Brand..it's super clear and easy to rub any fingerprint...
The SGP Samsung Galaxy Note N7000 GLAS.t Premium Tempered Glass Screen Protector, would be best, its kinda like a second layer of gorilla glass.
I dropped my note on the first week, so now dont care much about scratching it further, lucky the screen was not scratched.... I just try not to scratch the pen tip, so it doesnt end up scratching the screen when i use it. and i only use a case for when im out and about - otherwise the note fills too thick.

Need some recomendations

So hey guys I just got a nexus and it has alot of scratches on the screen the screen protector that was on it made it seem like there weren't any scratches on it can someone trend me another screen protector i.e. zagg or something that will get rid of the scratches as in when I put it on my screen the scratches won't show thanks

If you can live with some rubbery feeling on your screen, try XO skins ... in my case it masked perfectly even a small deep mark in the very center of the screen.
There is always the alternative to spend like 200$ for a new screen .

Why screen protectors?

Almost all phones now days have screens made with some kind of scratch resistant glass (like Gorilla Glass) so why do people still insist on putting a screen protector on? surely anything that could sctrach your screen now days wouldn't be stopped by the sheet of plastic. I get just as many marks on my screen from using it (fingerprints and such) by using a screen protector or not.
so why do people still insist on using them, I just don't see the need.
I only use the ones with anti finger print. Because my screen gets all covered in prints..
a screen protector and case add substantial extra protection. Even a just the phone falling to floor, without a screen protector can badly scratch or break screen.

I don't use those protectors anymore becuase the material is very often very cheap. All my protectors got soo many scratches so i "put it away" and now I don't get any scratches on my display.

I haven't used a screen protector in a while. I just use the case with my S3 and leave it without. You just gotta make sure you clean off the screan from prints and that's it. I find the screen protectors were more of a pain in the ass than anything.
I'm with iXanza, I specifically have the anti-smudge protector because between me and my girlfirend and babysitting my cousins my screen gets so greasy and gross I can't even enter my unlock code without having the protector..
Beacuse I already scratched my phone in my pocket without that protection. I put together wuth my car keys
Not got one for mine, and so far so good.
Because it keeps your screen like new
Gorilla glass is scratch resistant, not scratch proof. Sodium is very sharp, and can damage gorilla glass. Sand is even worse. When you can buy screen protecters cheap, why not? Replacing a protecters is a lot better than replacing a screen.

Because anyone with a wife knows they will DESTROY any device that isn't protected... My wife ruined a very good screen protector the first week she had it on her phone. Mine looks new up until I sell my phone, perhaps years later. I can't imagine what kind of damage a naked phone would have after a trip in her purse. Lol

+1 to all posts differentiating scratch resistant vs scratch proof. No glass is scratch proof, so the trick is finding a screen protector that doesn't dramatically compromise touch screen sensitivity. Going without screen protection will equal scratches, but people balance usability vs. Protection to determine if they slap a protector on there. Wow...it's just like condoms in a way.

I gave up on screen protectors...didn't think I needed one due to the higher quality glass in todays phones. But alas, there is a huge scratch across the screen of my Xiaomi MI. Kind of disappointed. I much prefer the clarity and sensitivity of not using a protector but...

I used to wear a screen protector on my phone but now i dont.
I put my phone into my bag with keys and other accessories and the screen protector did a great job but i had to replace it often.
So i abandon the idea of a screen protector and i bought a leather case that protects whole device and everything is ok.
Additionaly the sense of "naked" screen is better of any protector...

They all have the same purpose whether you like it or not, i.e. protect your screen. So save money for something else more important if you don't think you would need one. I got 2 kids and they have been fighting to each other everyday just to get the Nexus 7 and it's been scratched up like hell. So I must have one to protect it.

Personal preference; but just remember... scratch resistant doesn't mean scratch proof. I use Zagg Invisible shield protectors; it's definitely not the same as going fully naked, but I'd rather have that little, thin, barely noticable piece of plastic over that beautiful screen and remove any hope of scratching it than to pull it out of my pocket and see that fateful 3mm scratch right in the center of the screen.
Depends on you use it. The scratching doesn't happen when you use it. It happens in your pocket and laying around.
I've never used screen protectors. But I also keep my phone in my front pockey BY ITSELF all the time. Never in my pocket with my keys or anything like that.

You know, Skipjacks, they say the Gorilla Glass screens don't scratch from keys or cigarette lighters, or whatever; it's more than likely going to come from dust or little pieces of dirt/sand/grit in your pocket lint.
yes get a screen protector. A case is your choice but a screen protector is a must.
The screen will scratch very easily ... with anything in your pocket including keys...
The thing is, if you keep it without a screen protector your gonna see a tiny lil scratch ...and then a few days later you will see another... and then before you know it your screen is gonna be filled with them.
So yeah get a screen protector.
Get a tempered glass. Feels like the screen is naked.

In teh 2 and a half years I've had a smart phone Iv'e seen no scratches from keeping it in my pocket.
It don't hurt to have one ;] Spigen makes some great thin tempered glass ones which I would recommend.
The screens on these phones don't scratch. Google "gorilla glass drag test" and see for yourself. Screen protectors are a waste as they scratch very easily. Even the so called tempered or hardened protectors are no where near as scratch resistant as the screen itself. I've broken my screen twice but have never managed a single scratch.

Every electronic device i have ever owned (even my Moto Razer, the old flip one..) had a screen protector. I only buy the cheap ones on ebay, 6 for like a dollar 99 or something sweet like that. Totally worth it.
When I first got my s4, I used a screen protector. I just recently took it off, about 2 months ago and I couldn't be happier, no scratches yet..

I had my phone naked for the first 2 months I owned it, then started noticing tiny scratches when I looked at the display in the sunlight.
I went and bought a Spigen Glas.t Tempered Glass Screen Protector and Spigen Neo-Hybrid case, but as said above; not necessary but is preffered.

That's my same setup. I bought the NeoHybrid case to protect the back and sides, and the Glas.t nano (.15mm) slim protector. It's as thick as a regular plastic protector that you can get for a few bucks anywhere, but is a smooth glass that feels like a naked screen and would give good protection from shattering. The idea is on a fall or anything, the screen protector will shatter and protect the actual screen like an airbag. Also doesn't look like it smudges as much as the actual screen. I'm loving it so far. :good:
Try this one "GEARMAXX Screen Protector" which be available in eBay.
Good quality with well customer service and easy application. Best protectors money can buy.

Screen Protector film.. do we really need it?

Hi, just got my Note 10.1 LTE. Should we really use a screen guard?? by the way I hate those.. I never used a screen protector in my Galaxy S - its been 3years without any scratch.
My note 10.1 came with a free screen guard (SuperGuard - Clear for Note 10.1 2014) from my vendor. And I checked documentation for the devce.. didn't find Gorilla Glass mentioned anywhere.. so the question is - should we really use a screen protector for Note 10.1 2014?
Comments and your experience please..
Screen protectors required?
Hi Guys,
Please help with your experience.. do we really need to use the so called 'screen guards' / screen protector film?

This was my answer to a similar question on another thread....hope it helps....
My brother has never used any screen protectors on his devices and they all have pristine screens, I on the other hand have a few scratches on my S3 but that's only because I work in an Engineering environment where there are all sorts of materials flying about plus I no longer care tbh and use the phone even with dirty hands.
To be honest considering how much I use my phone its actually done pretty well, I have a 1cm long deep scratch and about 4 really light scratches that are barely noticeable and I've had the phone since release.
If your going to just use it in the house I would say you don't need one but you never know.
P.S. I don't think that really answers your question but still atleast you have something to think about haha

I've seen reviews and spec lists for the 2014 Note around the web that specify that it has Gorilla Glass 3. The Samsung website does not mention the glass at all, but that does not mean it doesn't have it.
I have an HP Touchpad which has Gorilla Glass 1. It never saw a screen protector and it doesn't have a scratch on it.
I do not intend to put a screen protector on my Note.
It has now seen three cases already though. So far I like the Poetic slimline best.

the old 6 of one half a dozen of the other
i agree about the strengths of modern day screens
gorilla glass or not
but i find without a screen the fingerprints are harder to clean as i use mine for drawing etc
i had my P600 with a screen and without a screen and then i put a screen back on
i use Benks screens (anti fingerprints - and it really makes a difference)...... love em.......
if you put on a cheap screen then you wont know what i am talking about
i can understand if people dont use em.....
cheers all and love my P600

There was a long thread on this on AndroidCentral. One person was told by Samsung Technical Support that it had Gorilla Glass 3, and another was told it has a Samsung plated glass that is just as good.
I guess either way it's pretty tough glass. I saw a test on Gorilla Glass 2, it's a lot tougher than any tablet or phone needs.

Screen protectors don't prevent a screen from cracking, they only prevent the screen from scratches.
Never had one on a phone/tablet...and never needed one. They make the screen look crap IMO (unless you're extremely good and make sure there are no air bubbles). But then I still hate them! If it was that vital to have one, Samsung would include one by default.

Not necessarily true. Zagg xtreme shields specifically state that they add impact resistance as do just like glass screen protectors. Tempered glass protectors also do A LOT to increase the chance of your devices screen surviving a fall. Hope this was helpful.

I'm not trying to start an arguement here lol but I honestly dont see how a screen protector can prevent a screen from cracking, what it will do is keep the glass in place when it does crack which is a good thing in such an incident.
I understand however anyone who has used a tempered glass protector will swear by their ability to keep a screen from cracking. I theory they absorb the impact and crack then selves rather than letting your screen crack. Personally they have saved my own devices over a half dozen times. So in practice if certainly seems to work. Some such as MIME Ghost Glass actually are harder and more scratch resistant than Gorilla glass 3 and many believe feel better than their stock screens. While this is all anecdotal and opinion you will find a huge number of people on these forums staunchly defending them. That being said, I have yet to put any screen protector on my Note 2014 as always hope this was helpful.
