How long it's gonna take until maxx audio will be ported? - Oppo Find 7 and 7a

Hi all,
I have important question, Maxx are the best in the music industry and their plugins cost's a lot! so their audio plugins in oppo 7 are the real thing- unlike the beats.
So how about porting this to other roms?
http://www.maxx.com/technologies/maxxaudio/

I think they'll have to port the whole ColorOS 1.2 for that to work. Its built in.

Sense 4.0 port question

Hey all, what would it take to port sense 4.0 ROM to our device? is it possible?
Very very very low chance, expecially with what little amount of developers we have. The Galaxy Nexus has a very early port but it will most likely never be stable.

As a former sense user I have to ask, why you would want this?
I'm gonna say no. Eugene was working on a Sense port, don't remember what version and I don't know if he's still working on it. He has delivered on all projects he has mentioned. Just buy an HTc one S. I just got mine and I'm loving it !

Find 7 and questions about Oppo phones?

why on earth did they not launch this phone with Kitkat?
anyway I have a question regarding Oppo's software support, is it good? will they quickly update Find 7 to Kitkat? I have heard that Oppo's software are rather somewhat unreliable, is it true?
about Color OS, is it good? is it full of bloatwares or not? how deep is the customization?
will Find 7 have official Cyanogenmod support? how about other custom ROMs?
thanks for answering!
Oppo listen very much to their user base and they will update it to KitKat. You can flash other roms to Oppo using their stock recovery, they're partnered with CyanogenMod so Cm roms should run well on their devices.
As for other custom roms, it depended on if the Dev want to develop for it or not, if you purchase a Find 7 for them, they probably will. Hint: Take a look at the Find 5 and N1 development section.

The oppo stock recovery flashes CM. OPPO are developer friendly, they even got OMNI Mediatek sources for the R819 (not an easy feat Mediatek are NOT willing)
They did not launch with kitkat because they are still adding features (ColorOS 2.0). They do that. If you are concerned about latest android version get on a custom rom like CM from the start, because OPPO don't move up the Android version until the previous ROM is stable enough to discontinue. The ROM itself is quite nice for a manufacturer skin, not bloated at all,and has some nice features built in you really miss if you go custom, but some people just hate the colorfulness so to each their own.

CM will probably have builds out within a month of release...
My concern with running CM on this phone is, will it lose features? Like the 50MP super zoom mode?
Yes you'll most likely lose SuperZoom and Maxxaudio with any AOSP ROM. You'd need stock based for that.

what? but didn't n1 retain it's features with cyanogen?
and can't you just install specific phones apps to get it's features?
Yes, because CM built the phone with OPPO,far as I know, they're making the OnePlus One ATM. So yeah, it'll be like on Find 5 most likely.

I haven't heard any news regarding a Cyngn partnership for the Find 7.
Remember, after last year's events, when talking about CM, there are really two different entities which are semi-connected:
CM - the original CyanogenMod open source software project. The Find5 was originally maintained by community members who were solely involved on this side of things. All of that team left for Omni as a result of the Focal relicensing fiasco (This is why the Find5 never saw official CM10.2)
Cyanogen Inc - Referred to from here on in this post as "Cyngn" - The corporate entity created by some of the Cyanogenmod leads
Cyngn was partnered with Oppo for the N1 so that Cyngn could gain experience with taking a device through GMS (Google Apps) certification. There has been little to no CM community involvement with the N1 - it's a purely Cyngn affair. All community efforts on the device are focused on other projects (Oppo sent preproduction N1s to people involved with CodefireXperiment, Omni, Paranoid Android, and a few others)
Cyngn is currently partnered with OnePlus to focus on their launch device. They aren't even putting much effort into the N1 now if you read any of the user reviews. (Both official 10.2 updates are full of bugs, and CM11 has had broken location services for two months now with not a single word from the development team.)
So the support of the Find7 by CyanogenMod is unknown and indeterminate. It will likely involve community effort if it happens, but all "community" contributors with current Oppo devices are working on other projects. Omni support is HIGHLY likely, I would not be surprised if, like the Find5 and N1, it proves to be one of Omni's best supported devices. CodefireXperiment and PA support are also highly likely (Actually I'd say pretty much guaranteed in the case of CFX, Oppo and Anders get along as well as the Omni team gets along with Oppo). (While PA usually focuses on Nexus devices, there usually have been exceptions for Oppos due to Oppo providing excellent support to Aaron from PA.)
Its the best phone out without a doubt right now .. Might even beat all new HTC one .. It's a no compromise phone .. Except speakers idk if they are good or bad .. Also you can choose your own software oppo skin or cm(later) and paranoidandroid. I'm very impressed .
returning to the color os talk, do you think it will be a long time before oppo move to kitkat based color os?
and as I asked before, is it true regarding color os instability and incompatibility with common android apps?
and I'm glad if Paranoid Android will indeed come to Find 7!

About the apps yeah, there was a thing about Lightflow not working, but its usually a one app thing, especially if it works by identifying the phone, mostly coz OPPO is so unique. As a plus ANY Chinese app works without a hitch when they give other manufacturers incompatibility issues
Omni is confirmed,Maxwen is getting a Find 7.
Unless i'm wrong ColorOS 2.0 should be kitkat.

Well I would consider the battery a moderate compromise. 3k mah is not really sufficient for a 5.5" 2k screen. I was really hoping for 3500mah or more.
I'm wondering how the screen compares to the Note 3 OLED screen. The Note 3 has an extra .02", extra 200mah, but Samsungs OLED's aren't as efficient as SLCD's.
The batt life is the defining factor here for me and I would assume a great many others. If HTC can deliver on this, they'll take a good few percent of the upgrade market. Damn Sony for not bringing their Z2 to the US. It would dominate the tech-savvy market completely.
last time I heard the screen use new low power tech so let's wait for a review first before calling the battery is a flop.

likely not but during the unveiling they used a find 7 to output audio using huge cable, maybe it was just a huge stereo cable though.
I heard the lower-end version Oppo Find 7a is better than Oppo Find 7 in many sectors, like screen, performance, etc. I really hope that Oppo equips this phone with that brilliant touch-less voice command just like on Moto X. It's gonna be really awesome for this phone. In fact, i think all of the new phones in 2014 should also have this feature. I mean, the real touch-less voice control when the phone is still locked. Unlike Google Nexus 5's "Ok Google" voice control that can only be used when the phone has been unlocked.

[Q] How well do you think the Find 7a will be supported by the community?

This is my first Oppo phone, soon to be delivered and I was wondering if you guys think (or know) if the 7a will be supported with many custom ROMs?
I've got a flashing trigger finger and love trying out new ROMs so my fingers are crossed that it'll have a few to try in due course!

Not sure if "many", but Omni is already in works and rumors are that CyanogenMod is in development as well...
MIUI is expected to be released as well... (Find 5 is officially supported, so Find 7 may be officially supported as well)

Well we know Omni is coming for sure, and once that is out the others will start flowing based on Omnis device tree / kernel.
So most likely CM and / or a CM / Omni based MIUI port somewhere down the road.
Perfect, thanks for the info guys!

Pretty much current state of Omni:
Camera is 100% broken - my top priority now
Mic in speaker calls is broken. non-speaker calls work OK, so does Bluetooth in calls. Basic audio works, but haven't tested it too much.
Internal SD is a bit flaky, I think I know what I need to do in order to make it solid but I just need more time.
I'm having a lot of spontaneous reboots in deep sleep. It's some sort of suspend/resume bug, as there's nothing in last_kmsg other than it going into suspend and never coming out (except via a crash reboot). This may be due to some changes the PA guys sent to attempt to improve power management.
Sounds like you are making a whole lot of progress.
It fills my eyes with tears reading this.
One step closer to omni goodness.
Looking forward to try omni rom. Any news if omni rom will support vooc charging and maxxaudio? Thats kinda all i need from stock rom, and camera quality
Eh, is Maxx anything really besides a system EQ?
VOOC would be key, I wonder what controls that.
Camera quality doesn't change (much), they would both call the same functions to the hardware. Just the interface and options (HD stitching, slow motion, scenes...).
I will take Omni over that glitched mess called ColorOS any day.

The VOOC charging has nothing to do with software.
I'd really love to flash OMNI or CM into my Find 7a but i really like the features that Color OS has, such as the off screen gestures and the double tap the home button to wake the phone. I'd really love to see the dev teams port those features to the ROMs, maybe Entropy can enlighten me on this.
I don't know about omni supporting screen off, but we should see a cm11-S port for the F7a I would imagine. As they're almost identical, it shouldn't be a huge stretch to make it happen.

That's what i've been thinking since the start. The hardware is almost identical apart from the sd card slot, a slightly slower CPU and 1GB less of RAM, but i don't know if the unified storage in the OPO would conflict with the stupid partitioning in the Finda 7/7a when porting. The perfect outcome would be having CM11S turn the Find 7a into an unified storage device.
I think it will be really difficult porting CM11S to the Find 7 due to the QHD screen, but still, the hardware is identical to the OPO apart from the sd card slot and the panel.
I don't know, but i think we will see stables for 7a much sooner and its big brother.

Yeah, maybe some Dev will come out with a partitioning script we could run that would change it from Oppo to unified. As far as the QHD, doesn't matter. The color OS Roms flash from 7a to 7 and back according to Oppo forums.
Honestly, if we change our partitioning we should be able to flash straight cm11s for the OPO, with a F7 kernel. That's what I'm guessing at least based off what I've seen on this forum and Oppo's.
Ya'll know that partitioning can be dicey I expect which is why you seldom see it happen. Its not really the partitioning itself, its the high number of people who cant follow simple instructions and screw up the partitioning thats the problem. At any rate I think more likely you are going to see a logical drive rather than partitioning if I had to guess. I believe that you may see omni support some of the gestures stuff in the future as CM is supporting some over on its close relative.
Realistically when I look at the state of 1.2 and the 2.0 beta color roms I think our best hope for the future lies here with entropy and company.

WAVES MaxxxAudio - Oppo Find 7 possible on G3?

Hi all,
I found that the Waves MaxxAudio on Oppo find 7 is very interesting. ummmm...is it possible to port those on G3 ? I guess it does neeed a specific DSP chip to run on ? Please enlighten me!
I think the G3 does neeed a huge audio processing correction. Headfone audio quality is way too crappy. I'm using ViperFX with paid Waves IRS but i think it just induces too much latency

It does not sound great. S4 does have Wolfson DAC as far as i can remember. G2 and G3 come with Qualcom base DSP so thats normal if it sucks. Im using Senheiser IE8 for the headfone but it just doesnt feel right. I also experienced the same with LG G2 ( probably with all android fone ;P ). Maybe im just asking for too much there hehe. Anyway, i hate latency. If we can bring Waves from Oppo Find7 then i would love to try too. My works involve alot with those Waves plugins and I think they r doing great job in DSP realm.

Very disappointed with audio. What are my options

Hey guys.
I have a Pixel 2 XL and have had it for about 6 months now.
Overall I am pretty disappointed with the audio out of the phone. I am using my Ultimate Ears TF10 through a Dragonfly Black and it sounds much worse than just the TF10s through my iPhone 6s (not using the dragonfly)
I can see a few options here and seeking some feedback.
1. Root the phone (I have read on here some custom ROMs will give better gains over USB C.
2. Get a pair of Bluetooth headphones (I don't really want to do this since I already have a good set of IEMs. Also are there any restrictions with Bluetooth such as compression etc.
3. Sell the phone and go get an LG v30 with its quad DAC.
Overall I'm pretty happy with the phone but the audio is very disappointing and I spend a few hours commuting today so it's a real let down.
Let me know what everyone thinks
Thanks guys

I am surprised you are having such a bad expierience.
The USB only audio (no headset jack) advantage is that you can use better DAC/Amps than on a regular smartphone.
My measurements of the various ones out there all show pretty decent specs (with some exceptions).
The stock Google dongle is excellent (it's a custom Realtec chip), I am testing the new one this weekend. Sure, using my gain control app will get you a bit cleaner tracing but whether that's audible or not, hard to say.
Apt X bluetooth with the Mee BT adapter is also very good.
I wonder if perhaps your transducer(s) in the headphone/IEM aren't working properly. That happened to me a couple of years ago with my SE846 and it drove me nuts until I figured it out.
Another thing to check: What source are you listening to? Your own rips (and what player), Spotify, G music etc? Let me know and we can go from there, as the problems vary between each one. Do you use the on board equalizer or any equalizer? If so what gains, bands?
I just tested the new dongle and re evaluated the USB audio in Pie - the implementation is substantially better and the gains are now properly optimized.
So, I don't think your issue is a Dac dongle problem, unless it is defective.
Thanks for the help so far guys.
Source is Spotify 320 kbps.
I don't think it's the headphones as it sounds fine when I plug back into my iPhone.
I might do some more testing this afternoon when I get home as my wife has the same phone.
I also have a pair of MEE X7 Bluetooth earphones and I am more impressed with these via Bluetooth (yes they are boomy but I can tell that the Bluetooth dac isn't being restricted)
I'll fill in once I have tested on my wife's phone tonight

I'm running those same audio mods and have no complaints with sound... Are you sure you have everything enabled in magisk property? Is V4A showing "processing =yes" when you are playing music?
My P2XL is not rooted and on Pie.
The only thing I've really missed, so far, is Dolby Atmos.
Since it's not available for Pie, I've been holding off rooting.
While searching for an audio booster, I found this app. Believe it, or not, it sounds almost as good as Dolby Atmos. I'm still tweaking it.
