Wow would it be 4.4.3?
Sent from my D5503 using xda app-developers app

From the look of it I don't think is 4.4.3 as Play Edition always get it first. Think this will be minor bug fix firmware and i think will take a while to reach PCC update or maybe months on OTA. At least something good to look forward to.

You're right it might come fast or it may not .. But the good thing is it's comming

Hope they make it quite bug free like .114 JB version. (Although I will probably still hold on to .114 even then)

Hopefully they will include some of the z2 features like timeshift video and 4k

I think you'll need a Snapdragon 801 for 4K. While the CPU & GPU are only minor speed bumps over the 800 used in Z1 and Z1 compact the chipset dedicated to camera has had a massive improvement in the 801 vs. the 800.

Qualcomm notes that both chips share "software and pin-compatibility." Any design intended for the Snapdragon 800 should be able to use the 801 without any extra work.

So why not ?
Edit: Also from all the things I've read I understood that 801 has just performance improvements over 800.

I think this is only a small provider update, nothing new for rest of us

You might just "hide notification" on update center settings (in Settings/Apps/All/Update Center)

I'm at work so I'll look for the article later and provide a link when I hit a post count of 10 and am allowed that is.
It was either Anandtech or Tom's Hardware that had a detailed article comparing the different MSM variants of Snapdragon 800 and 801. Should be pretty easy to find, it was a recent article and they are well known technology sites.
Pin compatible doesn't tell you a lot. There are plenty of things you can do on a i7 4770k that you couldn't do on an entry level pentium yet those two CPUs are pin compatible.

Thank you. The “hide notification” preference for Update Centre was disabled, but I hit the Force Stop button and that got rid of the notification too.

The LG G2 also has 4k, and the same Chipset But i hope we can get at least 720p 120fps.

If you Google 'snapdragon 800 vs 801 MSM variant' the 2nd and 4th results are the Tom's Hardware and Anandtech articles I was thinking of. Basically, the ISP has had the biggest increase, a bit over 40% increase in frequency. The ISP is the processor that the camera uses, think it might stand for image sensor processor.

I'm sure the ISP can always be clocked a little to achieve the desired results IF that's the case. But look at the LG G2 which uses the same SoC as ours (second revision) - 120fps 720p video no problem. I did a quick search and found this guy's channel which convinced me even more. There are more videos from different users if you want to check of course. These are just assumptions, I am not that familiar with this matter and I would be happy if there is someone who can clear things out.
Edit: I read that people are getting different fps (like 45 or 60) on different z2 camera ports for our device so I'm almost sure it's a software problem

It seems like a minor bug fix update. I am not sure that they will give us z2 features soon. Hope I'm wrong.

[Q] SRS Dolby sound enhancement possible?

I see that the Desire HD will have SRS Dolby. Does any body know if it is just a software plugin that will be possible to port over to the G2/Desire Z? And Does it really make that much of a difference in sound?

According to the official video from HTC, the Desire Z has it Dolby Mobile.
I cant post a link as I'm new here. But if you search in YouTube for "HTC Desire Z - A Closer Look", you find a video which is 8:48.
See 3:56.
Being that the G2 is a barebones "with Google" experience, I highly doubt that it will come with the SRS/Dolby Mobile feature -- although I hope I'm wrong.
I do believe that it should be as easy as a custom rom, though. I don't see them adding additional hardware for the Desire Z.

Anyways I remember hTC had the video up on their website saying that it had srs dolby. But now the video is pulled down. I'm guessing it was a mistake on their part .
what's he trying to link to?
I'm at work so can't check the link either, but I know what the OP is talking about.
Demo video of the HTC Desire Z showed "Dolby Mobile" and "SRS" emblazoned on the back of the phone.
Either way, I highly doubt extra hardware is involved, and maybe we'll see it cooked into some future custom roms.
Honestly, Sense looked pretty good on the demo videos.
It was working about 3 days ago I don't understand why it was taken down hope its not bad new but hopefully the G2 is what I expect if not I might just wait for the HD instead

Dolby
The MSM7230 with embedded DSP processor has support for Dolby 5.1 and a lot of other cool features.
Notice the clock speed for either 800mhz or 1 Ghz.
Looks like they have chosen the 800mhz clock speed here. I like the fact that, once rooted, the 1 Ghz option is stable and falls within the specs of the processor. Overclocking past 1 Ghz should be possible too, but as always at your own risk.
I can't post the link so just google MSM7230 for the features.

Not sure if this is the right forum as nobody has posted this information yet, however new phones are announced ahead of CES
You can find this info on google right now however rumored specs are:
- 5" 1080p S-LCD screen
- 1.5ghz quad core S4 Pro
- 2gb RAM
- Jellybean 4.1.1
- 13mp camera
- Adreno 320 GPU
- 16gb storage + expandable memory slot
What do you guys think? Are you excited for the new Sony superphones or are you going to get something else?
The hardware seems very similar to what the Droid DNA is currently offering, except these will have expandable memory which is a bonus.
If the batteries on these are either removable or much higher capacity then I'm in for sure.

Get a different phone and it starts the 30 days over so when the Z's come out exchange it again. At least I think it still works.
As for the new Z's man they look good. Funny to that people still gripe about 4.1 to 4.2. There is not even a real difference I thought?? Other than bug fixes?? Anyway I think this will be a great device and somehow I get the feeling Sony may have a few surprises up there sleeve. :good:
I would love one if I thought Sony would actually keep the UK SIM free ones up to date

[Q] Win Me Over: Galaxy Nexus vs Galaxy S2 HD LTE

Hello, lads! 'Names Abdi, and i'm new here to the xda forums. I'm looking for a new phone, done with my S1. After long search, I've narrowed it down to these 2 phones. The Samsung Galaxy Nexus and the Samsung Galaxy SII HD LTE from Bell Mobility. Before we start this face off, let me list some of my requirements for a smartphone:
Need microSD. I have a large music library (over 13 GB).
Need Gorilla Glass.
Need good camera.
As you guys can tell, these are all areas the Galaxy Nexus does not do well in. But here comes the catch, and this may help you with your arguments. The GS2 HD LTE has little developer support. Only 2 working roms on xda right now.
*Keep in mind: The GS2 HD LTE in this picture is not the one I'm looking at buying. This one is the international version. I am looking at the Bell Mobility version. They are basically the same phone, except for a little hardware differences. Same specs and all. Here is a picture of the Bell phone: http://www.technobuffalo.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/20120418_C6680_PHOTO_EN_12455-625x1024.jpg *

Per your requirements, SGSII. GN has not expandable memory.
However, the GN development is huge and its a very important aspect unless your are planning rocking stock firmware.
In any case, I doubt you go through your ENTIRE music library every week, month or whatever it may be. If you're like many, you won't often find yourself re-listening 75% of your library.
Consider Spotify or another streaming service which allows for offline playlists with no commitment to store all your tunes on your device.
Camera-wise. When it comes to mobile phones, the megapixel count hardly ever makes a difference and it should not be used solely to judge the quality. I've found that all modern phones have very similar sensors, so the quality will be more or less the same throughout.
No Gorilla glass on the GN but just get a screen protector for it, it wont hurt anyone.

I have, you do need to turn SR off though since it doesn't calibrate high frequency properly. But every device differs, I may be able to clock it that high, yours might not. Although I don't notice any difference in terms of UI snappiness whatsoever compared to 1.2, the only difference you'll get is higher benchmark scores it seems.

Honestly to be completely serious, yes I know that the processor matters a lot but this is not that much of a difference and the biggest thing is that the gnex doesn't have any crappy skin over it! That Samsung phone probably has touch wiz which will probably make it lag more than the gnex. And of course, you get the latest updates

SR= Smart Reflex. It is how your phone manages clock speeds and respective voltage for each slot. You can manually undervolt or turn smart reflex on and it will undervolt for you. I think most uses here would say SR is recommended and should be left turned on.

Well, i'm not sure... There is a lot of sw thing that createdd by OEMs and pretty useful... Multiwindow, bubble-like chathead (and now there is linkbubble, callbubble, etc...)
But this must be some deeply integrated s**t, because the Find7 has some kind of RAW support. Android doesn't have any raw API (jet)...
So who knows? Maybe the apk and some xposed magic together could suprise us (i'm not a feveloper, just wondering)

Android 4.4 does have raw support, albeit not officially, as documented on many articles regarding the 4.4 code commits. But I do agree, there must be a bit more going on under the surface since it is shipping with Android 4.3 based ColorOS which doesn't have RAW support. The source code for ColorOS is hosted on github, it appears, so it should be as simple as compiling. I am honestly torn between getting the Find7 and the Sony Xperia Z2. I'm using a Moto G until I can decide/they are released stateside.
In case if you are a developer intrested in this, from here you can download the Find7 frimware (wich contains somewhere the RAW support and the 50mpx feature. Good luck, and may the force be with you

It would be nice to see the software improves before porting, such as 50mpx raw then bring it down to a comfortable size like 2-3 mb, also not only 50mpx with the 13mb, but also the lower resolution mb too, so we can get best pics at a smaller size that way too.
I don't know how they do it, the 50MP pic's have much more details rather then up-scaled 13MP pic.
I did some testing from some review sampes

They are not scaled, they are taking multiple pictures and combining them. This can be seen in one of the YouTube videos where the shots are shown to take several seconds to get per shot. I'd link but YouTube is blocked on this router. Should be easy to find as it came up on my first page of results when searching "oppo find seven" and includes an unboxing. It wasn't there the last time I looked so you folks that haven't looked recently you my want to take a peek as it includes a look at several of these pictures and clearly shows the (IMO) amazing detail these shots produce. I had thought this would be a bit of gimmick for the bullet point wars but this is actually an impressive piece of work.
Yes, it's combined from 4 shots. Actually, the decice shoots 10 picture, then chooses the 4 best of them, and then combines the 4 13mpx picture into one bigass poc. The only problem (for porting this) that all of these steps are made by a dedicated image processor, wich is a chip build in. So you have two options:
A - simulate the entire IP
B - Don't port the 50 mpx fearure

This tech is by Almalence and has existed for awhile now, more information about it here
This tech is also possible on a Galaxy nexus, no reason why it cant be ported.
However, getting the source code and getting it to work on another device is difficult.
Who would have the time and knowhow to do so? (*super ultrapixel wink wink)
any news on a port?

OnePlus One can do the same (50 MPx photo)
I also read somewhere that the 1+ one is equipped with Oppo's ColorOD in chinese version. So propably it will work with CM11s vice versa

Black model is great !
uh.. Definitly a YES. First thing to do is to swipe through it with finger tops..(I hope it's not "praying to fly out of the hand" material)
What the.....
This cant be real, i will switch from g2 if this is real. This is Samsung Killer
Looks nice indeed, but the sheer size of it and 5.5" + 2K display running on the same battery capacity as the G2 doesn't really add up. Makes the phone a bit tough to consider. Things may change on the announcement day, though.
I dont think those are official pics. They are press renders of all leaks.

BUT s801 is more advanced and eventually consumes less energy. People would hope it's a smaller production set but i don't think it's gonna be s805(with s805 it would be total overkill)
But I'm pretty happy with my g2. Let us face it - whatever phone you buy - you will make 1st impression. After few days you will develop more impressions: negative and positive(yes..every product (stuff..) has : "I like this, I don't like that, people react different to what they see, feel, hear etc..).
This phone will be a mistake if it comes with SD801, it demands SD805 to couple with 2K screen.
The top competition is also on SD801, but they will be rendering much less pixels on FHD screens, so definitely, games will be much more slugish on G3.
It will be FHD 2,073,600 pixels VS QHD 3,686,400 pixels, something around 75% more pixels.
I wish they kept the bottom bezel clear glass as the G2.

I know these aren't the official photos as most mentioned it's just a leak renders but if it happens to be what we see here when they announce it on the 27th of this month I will make my first jump to LG.

I love it... Very nice. I do think this is how it will look because it matches every single leak I have seen, just a lot clearer photo
I hope it turns out exactly as pictured! Its gorgeous! Even thought rumors says it will have a SD801...I'm hoping for the SD805 for future proofing as well as directly competing to the rumored S5 prime. Regardless...the black/Gray G3 will be mine when it releases!

Dont have my g2 long enough to switch.. Looks really great.. German websites as giga.de or androidpit are excepting an sd805. I think it will be so. An 801 is imo not enough for a 2014 flagship

Looks amazing...
I just bought G2 recently and that's been a blast but heck this G3 takes it to another level...
I want and I want it now! Black or gold plz.
It will fail if it will be sd801 + 2k display... that doesnt make any sense :\ Anyway design is beautiful
This phone will come with S805
Phonearena said S801 is for G3 prototype.
And qualcomm said S805 phone will come at may

if snapdragon 600 can handle FHD, 801 can handle QHD without breaking a sweat. For me a minor frame rate drop wouldn't matter cause I yawn @ gaming.

It looks great in my opinion, I like they keep the volume and power buttons in the back, I have the G2 and I'm very used to that now.
