What accessories would you like to see made for the OnePlus One? - ONE Accessories

As the title says, what accessories would you like to be made for the OnePlus One?
There are already custom back covers which you may put on, but what else would you like to see?
It can be from screen protectors all the way to cases or attachments.
Personally, I'd like to see a Dot View Case for the OnePlus One but way stronger.

It could be great to see some sort of wireless charging dock if it was possible for this phone (I haven't done much research about it at this stage). Maybe some OnePlus One exclusive portable battery pack would be cool to see.

Cases of course. I have a bad habit of dropping my phone

Yes if anyone finds a case please post link, thanks.

Wireless Charging
I'd like to see a back that adds wireless charging a la Galaxy S5. I understand that they probably couldn't include it due to costs but as an additional accessory I think it would be cool.

Sadly, not possible as the battery does not support it. If it does happen, there'd need to be some extreme hackery first

Hmm, I may resort to something like this then if nice cases come out. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ultra-thin-Qi-Wireless-Charging-Universal-Receiver-for-micro-USB-Phones-Type-A-/271418734724?pt=UK_MobilePhones_MobilePhoneAccessories_MobilePhoneChargers&hash=item3f31d13884

I'll definitely start a thread if I do, hopefully there is enough space between the phone and a case for the coil to fit.

are the spring pins under the cover for wireless charging? theres two sets of them, two pins on each side. in the samsung devices, its for qi and nfc. the qi coil blocks nfc on the batter so a helper antenna is added. i guess we will have to wait and see...

Hmm hopefully you can power the phone that way. I wonder where the nfc module is placed, if it's in the battery then I don't think my aftermarket solution will work without blocking the NFC.

http://forums.oneplus.net/threads/ifixit-oneplusone.5351/
apparently the pins are for the antennas that are built into the backplate. an internal qi receiver most likely wont work by being blocked by the nfc antenna in the backplate, and an external one would block nfc.

Wireless charging back cover. I love wireless charging on my Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III.

Yes it does look like the nfc coil is on the back of the phone. Dammit that means wireless charging aftermarket isn't possible without loosing the nfc capabilities.

I would like to see a flip case that replaces the back cover just like the flip case for the Moto G. It would keep the phone as small as possible while protecting the screen.

and this is a simplified prototype to test fitment and other things.
it fits the GSM and LTE Nexus with a case on it. the touchstone goodies are inbetween the case and the phone itself. opening the phone was unnecessary.
right now the phone is a bit of a tight fit. need to get that sorted out and try again in a few days. also need to verify the touchstone will work with the gap i gave it. (.050ish)
look forward to hearing any comments you guys have.

agreed really WOW shame i can't do such thing because don't have such machinery
are u charging via pogo pins or micro usb?
Only issue I see with this is that the placement off the touchstone would have to line up exactly with where you place the coil.
From what I see it wouldn't work on mine since my coil is much higher to avoid interference with NFC...looks very promising though!

i tried it and there weren't problems with nfc and the coil using beam and an id
and also IF there were problems it wouldn't matter because it's a car dock pretty much sure he's not using nfc in that case
Pretty limiting in that you've blocked off the phone's speaker and the headphone jack. Sure, some people use bluetooth for everything - but some don't. Just some food for thought.
Looks cool. Any way you can share a cad file of this. I drew a few up myself and I'd like to compare dimensions.

Impressive.
Does the thickness of the material interfere with the cam at all? IIRC it has a pretty wide view. That said, dude, it has a hole for the camera, good stuff
Let's start from the top
Charging through the pogo pins. charging rate appears to be around 750Ma, or around 40% an hour. It was good enough to keep my phone charged while tethered streaming a movie. So its good enough for me.
I realize I didn't leave any provisions for the internal mics or speakers to do their thing. Much less room for the headphone and USB port. I'm only making a few of these for me and some friends willing to conform to my apple-esque control over how their phone is setup.
The NFC works fine, planning on using an NFC tag to launch the car dock.
Not sure about the camera, I should check that...
T-Keith, PM me your email and I'll try and send you some files when I get it to a point where I'm happy (it fits kinda tight right now)
Thanks for all the kind words, I'll get some nicer photos up soon.
Thats just good stuff - would love to see this extended to a home landscape dock.
I'm confused about how/what is holding the phone in the dock.
looks awesome. You could start a Kickstarter to get funding. I want one!
Definitely looks promising. Great inspiration, I might see what I can come up with if I have some free time. This is just begging for some rapid prototyping fun.
I'd also love to take a look at your files. Great work.

Agreed! If you post up the cad files when you're done I can probably whip one up in my company's makerbot. I can try and figure out the cost and go from there. This is an AWESOME project!
Question.
If you've modded your case so you can charge using a Touchstone, haven't you already got magnets in there to hold the handset in place when using the Touchstone?
If so, then what does the plastic bit achieve?
I'm not trying to criticise, I'm just confused is all.
Did you ever make more progress on this? I use a touchstone in my car now but something to keep the phone a bit more secure would be awesome!

Most people are afraid to use JUST a touchstone in their car because if you hit a big bump then your phone could go flying. This is EXACTLY what I was looking to do, integrate a touchstone into a regular car dock so that you can just drop it in for wireless charge and not worry about your phone launching across the car when you make a quick turn. I think I'm going to try to modify an already made dock to fit the touchstone as the back plate, as I don't have access to a CNC machine or a 3D printer =(
EDIT: Sorry if it's a bit off topic, but I found a dock that looks like it'd be perfect to cut out the back and integrate a touchstone. What do you guys think?

Duracell powermat case review!

The other powermat thread was so cluttered up with extraneous crap I decided to post here
I wanted to get rid of wall warts with our two phones, 2 tablets, Portable speaker, Nintendo DS, iPod etc... I bought this:
Powermat home/office from amazon. Sadly, the 1A output does not work on the galaxy tab 10.1 or the HP touchpad.
plus another pair of the universal pucks. cost me $45 total delivered. the kit in the link came with 8 or 9 tips.

I looked at the back from Verizon for my AT&T phone but it was noticeably thicker than standard and my spiegen cover would not fit over it, plus it ONLY works with QI which is NOT part of this powermat. I even took my mat into the verizon store to test and it didnt work. UGH. well, i knew Duracell was working on the case so I stuck with it.
Ordered my case yesterday Directly from the Duracell-Powermat webiste and it arrived today! yay for being close to Memphis.
to put the case on, line up the USB plug to the phone and insert it, once in, tilt phone back into the case and slide rubber molding around the top. to remove, hole the top corner edge with your fingers and push on the flash area with your thumb.
First impressions, I like it. it fits really good. id say 1/8th of an inch thicker. Really not bad at all. the case has a very good feel to it and the buttons work well underneath it. the Pass thru USB works perfectly and YES it does read my TecTiles. that said they pickup best when placed between the Powermat Logo and the camera Lens. but they work every time. All nfc functions work great. Also the powermat will turn back on a charge the phone up more if need be. Charging is very fast at 1.0amps. Faster than the wall wart it came with.
it is backwards compatible with all powermat products. so you dont need the new white ones.

Not bad, $35 for the case and $25 for the power mat. Just when i thought i was done buying accessories for my phone
Looks like it wont work with MHL
I have one question inly. Does this have a batter in it? I doubt it because i believe its just a wireless charging enabler. Would be sweet if it had a battery in that bad boy for backup power that would wirelessly charge on the mat.

yes. this is a Case that slips on over the phone. protects pretty good to so far for me.

Case Containing Batteries

I have seen cases for other phones that contain a second battery to charge the phone's main one? Does this type of accessory exist for the Note?
they do,a lot of them exist on ebay and amazon. I think ecell sold the 3500, probably their other wares are good. I'd check some threads here if I was you. I think there is a review on some of them

I don't want an extravagant battery. Even just a case containing one the same size will do. I want it a case for the actual phone though - not a separate "carry battery" to charge my phone off. The thinner, the better also.

I own the first one in black. It works as advertised and makes the phone feel protected. THe Microusb port on the bottom of the device is a tight fit and faces backwards to the one on the phone. This means you have to pay attention plugging it in so as not to munge the plug. I have two batteries and this case that I take with me when I expect to need to use my device excessively.
I found this one, I am not sure if it is any good or not but I like that it has a kickstand and I like that it looks somewhat like an OEM case.

Right, I ordered this model yesterday
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/120972372225?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
It came today.
From what I noticed so far:
- It looks great. Phone fits tightly inside, overall shape is longer and just slightly thicker than a usual protective case.
- Product description mentions some king of a stand. Don't bother about it. It's just a plastic coin-shaped object which you can slide in the hole at the back of the case (you have to keep it in your pocket separately).
- The case can't charge your phone if you're using it. Its output is only 500mA which is not enough for charge and use. The description at the back of the box states 1Amp but the instruction mentions only 500mA. Phone's battery slowly discharges even when the case is on (there is a button at the back to switch it on/off). Of course the overall combined both batteries life should be longer but if you are close to 0% of phone's battery life you are better of switching the phone off, letting the case to charge it and then switching it back on. I'll do some tests tomorrow if it's better to keep the case on from 100% phone's battery life or drain the phone and then switch it off, switch the case on, charge and switch the phone back on. I'll see what gives longer battery life.
- You can charge your phone without taking it out of the case. just be ready for some longer charging times because of those 500mA.
I don't know yet if both phone and case are being charged simultaneously or first phone and then, if the battery reaches 100% the case.
I'll add some photos later on today.
If you have any questions, throw them in.

This is the 12v to 19v converter I used. Ordered a cheap cigarette lighter adapter from amazon to do the conversion. The WCP-700 needs a 19v (?) 500ma power source. The one I found output 19v, 1.5A.
Almost finished product, it all works with the exception of the cover.
Video of the final product! Wanted to keep the ash tray door and the 12v power source, I think I did pretty well.
That's awesome.. Great thing to have

Did you use the Amazon charger that I put in the other thread, or did you find a better option?
You mentioned an issue with the N4. Was this position based, or do you think it's a power/signal issue?

1. I used the LG WCP-700
2. I think it's a little bit of both. The way the transmit coil sits in the ash tray, it ends up being a little crooked. I think the glass back on the N4 is just think enough to prevent it from working correctly. The coil I bought for my S3 is a tiny bit offset as it is, plus it only has a super thin plastic back to go through.

Used this one off of Amazon http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004J0Y87S/ref=oh_details_o03_s00_i00
Note, the plug is too large. I soldered all the connections so I wasn't interested in matching up the plugs anyway. The stock plug on the LG looks to be about 3mm OD, center positive.
Looks good, I'm not sure about having to press the phone down in there like that, I think that would scratch the sides at some point?
Other than that, pretty awesome. I liked my wireless charging mod, but I finally stopped using it because I wanted a protective case.
T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S3 SGH-T999 Tapatalk 2
Here is my simple question.
Did you try running the Qi charger with a 12v input before doing your stepup to 19v?
I have read at least two people who claim that even though the input is rated at 19v it will work with 12v.
It makes sense to me that 12v would work since the output is only 5v anyhow.
I know your setup is all need already but can you or anyone else confirm if that is true or not?
Really quite interested in a mod like this but I don't really like the idea of stepping 12v up to 19v back down to 5v if I don't have to.
And I would also rather not spend the extra $12 if I don't have to.
Thanks!

Thanks, but how and why you say it doesn't work? Is it because the battery is too high and the contacts on the wireless charger won't reach? If this is so, it could be potentially modified... but I am more interested if the actual receiver fits and the cover will not squash it?
Big thanks...
edit:
any idea when will it be in stock... and also what version is the one on mobilefun website... as far as I can remember, the V2 versions had some fault.... and also how thick is it? There are new ones that are emerging with .8mm thickness only.
I hope you don't mind me asking a lot of questions here.

I thought it would, nice one for the feedback
i have the wireless pad + ballistic Sg case and it charges and uses NFC just fine. The NFC range dropped a little bit to around half an inch (from case to tag) but it still works fine.
the charging distance dropped quite abit and you would have "tap" it in to work (atleast with my set up where the dock is at a 45 degree angle)

I tested the NFC last night and as you said it does drop the distance a little but still works fine. Really good product for the money overall.
Be interested to see some pics of a modded one with the extended battery

@oli2k and mputtr - thanks for the info guys
Just need to find somewhere that sells them relatively cheap. At £60 for the pad and the charger, it's still a tad expensive. Lol
unfortunately it's the price of being an early adopter.. you would have to wait a few more years before it gets cheap.
I can confirm that the 300mAh battery is compatible with the wireless charging pad in the OP... it fits without any modification, you just have to fit the contacts and close the back cover on the side first where the wireless charging contacts are. I'm very happy now... thanks to Oli for starting this thread...
