ram is high.. bt used memory is mostly high n free memory is less and the hardware reserved memory is high that is mostly depend on d kernel and rom.. and less ram available bec of oom value is smartly adjust to utlize most part of ram.. btw ubcn get more available ram in future android relese... like kitkat as i tld every rom n kernel has its own requirment to reserve ram.. and i think there is some memory leaks issue also wid d current rom. bt it will b resolved soon.. in new kk update so its a good buy never faced speed issue

Rooting using existing method (flashing cfauto root via Download mode) will trip knox as it was not signed by Samsung. Be warned!

Ram using can be solved by disabling apps you don't use in Application Manager. You can find a list of stuff you can safely disable. Worst case if there are issues re-enable them. This can be done without rooting. With root you have even more options to reduce ram.

bro samsung is keeps trying to do such kind of non sence security stuffs as new new phones will comes u will c more worst Sean more worst than knox bec samsung ppl know ppl do rooting than do mostly do RND and spoil there phones and come to service center and the pressure of SS increases and bec of that other genuine ppl who r nt rooted who comes to SS they need 2 wait i mean its totally fair with them bt not for US .. knox is a kind of cloud VM also when all the apps r in private mode and separate from the actual user etc but its waste i guess there is no use but the main part is knox comes with the bootloder and the worst part is it stays on the core files of the device mostly in firmware file which til now we didnt reach as soon as we reach there we will be able to reset or trip knox value also but till yet there is no way to access that hidden part still waiting for the Trip but apart from the knox pain am lucky  bec ma frnd works in samsung SS :silly: so ma warranty :victory: is not void yet heheehehe i cn go to ss ny time :victory:

Ram usage can be controlled easily..
Disable the bloat and you'll be fine!
Im not rooted and my static ram usage is close to 0.9-1gb/1.7gb..
But yeah.. I choose my apps wisely too..

thanks for helping, everyone.

I've used the Note 3 Neo as my daily driver for a month now and I've noticed that ram usage doesn't go higher than around 1.2gb used. Usage overall is smooth, haven't noticed any real lag of sorts. I have disabled some of the bloat and I'm not rooted either. The only problem I have is with the official twitter app when ram usage gets to that 1.2gb used ranged where typing becomes really laggy (I'm using Google AOSP keyboard from the Play store), but it could just be the twitter app. When that apps I have to use the built-in TW task-killer to free up memory. Not the worst.

Ive not noticed any input lag issues.. maybe it's ur twitter app only.. only time ive seen lag is in the status bar in saavn app, so I guess the latest update of the app is creating issues.. all things said and done, this phone is great and im really enjoying the experience.. and for the first time Ive no urge to root the phone!

I have called samsung support they said that the screen is scratch resistant but there is no official confirmation about gorilla glass.

I asked in the sammy smart cafe and they said it does have Gorilla glass 2 and also told me that it is a sammy policy that every amoled screen made by sammy has Gorilla glass!

Yup, only the official twitter app has problems - but like I said not the end of the world when typing in the app starts to lag. But, overall, phone is really good with nary a lag I've noticed. I'm really liking the hexacore Exynos chip in the phone (LTE version at least).
It replaced my Nexus 4 as my daily driver (having access to an SD card again, so niiice) - considering how stable and smooth it is on stock 4.3, I'm not sure if I want to even upgrade the phone to 4.4.2 whenever it comes out. lol.

Is Sony cheating us??

Hi to all Sony xperia users. I was playing with my wife's micromax canvas hd phone and surprised to see its total ram exactly about 1 gb with the same screen resolution as of ours xperia s whereas in xperia s it's very low around 700 mb. Against claimed 1gb by Sony. Anyone have a explanation or their views about this?
Screen shots below.
Sony xperia s

Amount of free ram depends on the chipset the device uses.
None of Micromax devices use snapdragon chipsets.
While our Xperia S uses snapdragon s3 chipset and it requires that 300 MB reserved for GPU.
So you get around 700 MB for apps.
Newer chipset has reduced memory requirement for GPU like the one in Xperia Z which requires less than 200 MB.
One more example,
My laptop has 4 GB of RAM but out of that 1 GB is reserved for system and i only get 3GB Ram as usable memory.
~300mb of ram are used by system or something like that
the more the system ram, less the phone lags.check samsung phones(eg galaxy s2,it has same 1gb but 900 mb free).lags like hell.so dont complaint.all apps work fine,no problem multitasking and its fluid

We will almost certainly see a cyanogemod release on the platform at some point in the future. When we do, you can always leverage its theme engine to get the touchwiz look:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.thomassafca.theme.touchwiz.five.free&hl=en
or for that matter the xperia look:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.theme.XperiaZ&hl=en
The phone is available to order now on amazon- they ship it on the 24th and in my experience it only takes 2-3 days to get to you. As a side note- this phone is pretty well optimized out of the box.

It's alright- not that great. Expect 18-20 hour backup with moderate usage, i.e. charge the phone every evening. 3G takes more of a toll on the battery than wifi though.

Must be something wrong.. It's not that bad. About other user talking about need to charge by evening.. That totally depends on the usage.. What's the screen on time on such scenario?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA Free mobile app
I'd like to share by battery stats.... I'm a moderate user. Gaming is not a priority. Both Sims are connected. Network is 2g. Wifi is on (goes to suspend when screen is off) most of the time. I'm getting more than expected backup. I believe playing a game like asphalt will drain battery on any phone. Screen will be at maximum brightness. All your phones resources are being used. Also a 6.5k price phone is not to be expected to do heavy gaming and still have a lot of battery

Dude do not go buy G3 its a piece of crap. The 2K screen takes up more than 50% of the 2GB RAM that is allocated and Battery Life its unbelivably bad. Lollipop sucks ass as well, battery is even worse than KitKat
Get a Xperia Z3 with a Unlocked Bootloader and the world is your oyster
Dude you serious? Clearly using it wrong
I get two days of battery life on stock based lollipop 5.0 rom.
No lag either.
Although the device does heat up when your using it heavily but its not an issue in my opinion.
This device gets a lot of complaints but with a few tweaks all these issues that people whine about can be fixed
Battery is great with 2 day use. Only heats up when using heavy apps like YouTube and games.
I can't give you a accurate result because I'm running CM12 with custom kernals and I can easily get 3-4 days with a bit of use.

G3 Boot loader is unlocked sorta. 2k screen take barely no battery and depends on what you use it for. You probably haven't used it for a week. You can get a 3Gb model that comes with 32gb internal.
Please use it correctly and better research. Thanks =)

Have the phone for 5 months. After the lolipop upgrade, battery doesn't last more then 48 hours (on how I use it). 4G opened 24/7, emailing, browsing, reading the news but I'm not playing any games. I was a HTC fan but loved this phone since I put my hands on it.
I'd recommend this phone to anyone who what's to buy a new phone. The screen is awesome and it doesn't take a lot of battery, considering that is 2k. My phone rarely heats up but considering that I don't play any games ... can't say more. If your bro decides to buy it also get a quick circle case.

No not that i am aware of.... i also have the same specs as urs... So maybe there is sumthin on ur phone which is eating a lot of ram... First check the ram usage by apps... try freezing the bloatware... If this doesn't work try clearing cache via adb... If nothing of this works we will have to dig deeper

First try to contact the store and ask them about lagging issues and all...if u dont feel satisfied with their answers try to get it replaced as warranty is for both hardware and software... Btw rooting ur phone will void ur warranty but if u flash the stock rom back u get ur warranty back... But my suggestion is first try to solve it by calling the store from where u purchased it and of still not satisfied call Asus and get ur device replaced under warranty....
Not at all. CPU is clocked at 500MHz for most of the time anyway and rarely needs to clock too high during usage except for gaming.
In fact, I've even capped my CPU max frequency at 1.8GHz even though I own the 2.3GHz version.
The recent update made my 2GB variant even faster from my initial impressions. Battery seems to be draining less too.
4 GB 1.8GHz here and absolutely no lag. Running smooth at any time.

I have not faced anything of such concern cuz i haven't played any high end game like asphalt , nova all i have played is hitman sniper which runs perfectly and gives me better performance than note 3 also in terms of battery . U might have not disabled apps in auto start manager
Absolutely no lags..even after last OTA update battery isnt draining with same rate as earlier and phone "speeded" up more..about that heating issue, its cuz of fast charging. Use a normal charger and there would be not that much heating it will just warm up little like any device
I will lag a bit just after charging, but mostly when I charge for 30 minutes and the phone is still warm. For those who are having lag or stutter....is your battery life bad? I bet you have an app or game that is constantly drawing on the cpu/gpu....
Mine is laggy but only when Here Maps or Waze are open, and a little while after I close them. During normal use it's a bit laggy, but I have several things running in the background... that's probably it (Facebook, Twitter, Google Now, Swarm, etc.)
Recommended updating firmware to latest version and performing a factory data reset. For online assistance please also see ASUS ZenFone Quick Service and FAQ:

I get lag running Google play store and charging at the same time, but I close it and everything becomes zippy again.

I am also facing a bit of frame drops, not lags though. But stutters for sure. Its been only 4 days that i have bought this phone. My phone is on latest firmware. Asphalt 8 shows great amount of stutters and overkill 3 is full of lag. Should i be concerned. I keep almost all my back ground apps closed and have more than 2gb of ram free. Tried formating the phone too.

About heating I can't be of help because I dislike computer gaming, about custom ROM on this particular device which was born for just specific countries, on particular I'm referring to Chinese version, I think that it worth to flash to obtain a more tailored system. About the purchase today I will opt for a newer device since zuk z2 it's not the latest and as you probably know technology runs very fast.

I have this device since 2months and I never had any overheating issues. But if you don't want to flash a custom rom, then I will recommend you to buy a xiaomi, you can maybe wait 2 months and buy the redmi 5

ok then i think its better to move towards another brand
The best bet would be to purchase the phone and use it as much as you can and burn the phone ASAP and claim your warranty in this way there will be a lot of trouble for Lenovo Customer Services, and if they see this issue then only their developers will take steps to ensure optimum customization & performance with no heating solution.
This Mobile is at its EOL and that is the only purpose the mobile prices are reduced so much in India, Lenovo is looking forward with its MOTO brand and leaving behind its ZUK brand.
If you really don't care about warranty just download the unlock bootloader file and use your choice of ROM, and even if there is some damage, just revert back to original stock rom and claim your warranty.
But the best bet would be to continue @ the stock ROM and if the heating issue persists just try to burn the phone, in this way your are legally good to go and you can claim your warranty.

#1 - 3/32 version - don't buy, 4/64 version - yes
#2 - no
#3 - somewhat.. but now I am on custom rom, there is no heating
#4 - if you can't or don't want to install custom rom, yes go for another.... and best at this range only one phone is there - xiaomi note 4
But I will still rate this phone better than that... Because of size and it never hanged..
thanks for ur valuable opinions...

The phone has cool battery and quick recharge

1. What custom ROM are you using?
2. Does that ROM have built in scheduled power on/of feature?

I know this review doesn't even matter anymore because you should have already purchased a new phone. And with the device being outdated and the company shut down.. This is meaningless, yet I wrote this because phone is still selling quite nicely in my country(India) and some new users can use this review.
1) There's no heating issue unless the phone is used for gaming for a quite duration like 1 hour continuously. But that's natural right ?
2) The heating issue shows up in Summer.
Just a day before I wrote this review, my room temperature was 38 Degree Celcius and phone started lagging even when I watched just a single youtube video. I Thought I must be dreaming. SD 820 and lag ? Even decided to take a stupid step and checked Antutu scores (as I knew they will drop when heating occurs) And Surprise ! The Score was 53K ? I reset the phone thinking that Rom might be misbehaving as this is my 1st device that I haven't reset in 2.5 months. Again with an Antutu test I get 85K ?
So this is just atmospheric heat. My guess was just that to keep the costs low, they might have used the low quality materials. But who knows ? I'm not aware much about heat dissipation system used in Z2.
Conclusion : If you're a heavy gamer, don't go for this phone. Plus my review is based on Stock Rom. I haven't yet void my warranty. ? Custom Rom might even be different but Hardware issues wouldn't be solved that easily.. An average user can go for this phone with eyes closed. You won't get such an astonishing SoC at this price.
Verdict : I used phones like LG G3 Beat and Samsung Galaxy S5 before this one. I feel that touchscreen on this phone isn't as smooth as the other phones. Even mid or low-ranged Oppo and Xiaomi have better touch response. Again I might be wrong as I haven't used Custom ROM yet. But I'll update this review for sure after using custom ROMs on this phone. Would hardly take 1-2 months. ?
