[Q] [HARDBRICK] LG G Pad 8.3 V500 after Swapper 2 - G Pad 8.3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I have flashed my GPad with vanir commotio rom, and after I run swapper 2, my tablet won't boot again. Cannot go to recovery and download mode. I have used USB JIG with no success, and when I connect to my computer, tablet shown "qualcomm hs-usb qdloader 9008 (COM3)" on device manager. Can anybody help? Thanks

If it's appear like that in the pc, looks like your internal memory has been wiped (or partitioned), happened to me before, i sent it to lg customer care and they had to replace the hole motherboard... sorry to hear...
When u use the swapper, choose mdblock1 instead of mdblock0, cuz. it is the internal memory and 1 is the external one!
Or use another swap app that have a advanced settings!

The problem is LG G Pad is not available for my country (Indonesia). I bought it from Hongkong. When I contact Indonesia's LG service center they seems cannot service my tablet. So shame.

It costed me $177 to fix in lg center, then i found this motherboard...

Can I fixed it with JTAG or anything? For me It's not worthed to spend around 200$ for fixing this tablet.

Not sure, but if u have qualcomm hs-usb qdloader 9008 (COM3), then, it is a motherboard fail, means that not hole motherboard is effected (MAYBE if the hole motherboard effected, u will not get any sign, even in pc), but it maybe the internal memory fail, but otherwise u cant replace only the Internal Memory alone, u have to get the hole motherboard, so u can bring it back to life...

Thanks for your answer.
Now, just waiting a month for the motherboard to arrive. So expensive [emoji31]

I feel for the OP, as I too, have hard bricked my tablet when I tried creating a swap partition via swapper. In my case, all black screen, no response when I try to power on the device, no nothing....
The only sign of life, is that when I connect the tablet to the computer via USB,i hear 2 faint beeps but then nothing....
Does anyone have any recommendations, apart from replacing the motherboard? I find it a bit too expensive, as its almost 2/3rds the price of a brand new tablet.
Does anyone know if JTAG will work on the LG G Pad 8.3? Also if anyone can recommend someone who can fix it, for a fee ofcourse , please feel free to PM me. Thanks

Nope. I mean jtag, a device that is soldered onto the chip and hardcode data directly into it. You can use it to restore a hard brick. i think i saw from somewhere that the jig wont work. But i think Jtag will stand a chance.

is it easy to get your hands on?

After I change the logicboard, everything works fine again to stock 4.4.2. The only downside is now my G Pad screen doesn't stick with the back part of the G Pad because of the teardown.

You can however reach the ports? headphone and USB?

headphone and usb are fine. It's just the bottom corners of the screen now slightly lifted up because cannot stick with the back.

[HOWTO] Hard Bricking E975

Yesterday I manage to hard-brick my Optimus G (intl) E975. :crying:
The process was quite simple, root, unlock bootloader, flash CyanogenMod, flash custom kernel F93, install FauxClock (paid version on Google Play). In this app (FauxClock), in the screen gamma settings you have an option to download a kernel enhancer. I downloaded the kernel enhancer provided in the app and its name was something like "all_kernels_enhancements_mako.zip". After download, I booted in recovery and flashed that "all kernels enhancement" .... and hard bricked it was!
The phone now won't start and all it does is to blink an Red Led (of death). I can't go intro recovery with any button combination. Only the red led. I hopped that it lacks battery juice and I put it overnight for charging but no change.
It looks like the zip was meant for the Mako (Nexus 4) kernels, not for L975
I searched on the web how to re-write phone's boot images and I found that there is a JTAG method for that using a device called RIFF. It implies that you open your phone and connect some plugs and re-write the nand flash. I searched some more and I found a guy in my town that does this kind of things. I met that guy and, for now, it seems that the re-write process is available only for the e970, e971, e973 variants of the phone, but he will try it on e975 anyways.
Right now I'm waiting some news for this guy. Keep my fingers crossed.
Update 1:
That guy with the JTAG has a hard time making my phone to boot.
Meanwhile I contacted LG service and they told me that they can try to fix it but there is a chance that the mainboard has to be replaced(?) as the phone is not recognized by the computer. They also told me that hard-bricking can appear even when flashing official firmwares.
As I am in a big hurry with this repairing stuff I don't know what to do.
Update 2:
In the end, after 8 hours of hard working, that guy made the best finding the right file to flash with some international help, made the right JTAG shouldering and finally, IT'S ALIVE!
My dear phone is now up and running. I just rooted it, unlocked it and flashed CM 10.1 again with the F93 kernel. Fortunately I made a backup 5 days ago so I lost almost nothing.
It was a good lesson and a first in Romania

I don't have much experience but i have understood that JTAG is compatible with all the android smartphones, even there's a video in youtube explaining the process. I hope that works for you mate, I have my E977 hard bricked too but I'll take to SAT in a few hours. Good luck :highfive:

Thanks Unreal_Shogo,
I saw that movie yesterday and this is how I found out that there is a solution for my problem.
A few notes on hard bricked LG E975 in general:
- after a phone is bricked, don't try anymore to charge it, because it will only consume the rest of the battery. The phone after that many hours of charging it had only 3 volts instead of 3.7 minimum. Android phones control the charging process by software, not hardware. And if you push the power or you will connect the phone to the charger it will consume completely the battery and you can't stop it if you can't disassembly the phone and disconnect the battery
- this model, compared with e970, e971, e973, it is different and harder to solder the wires, because the JTAG connections are on the other said of the board, not like the one from the video.
- the boot it is not compatible with the other models and it is very hard to find the correct files. But with some stubbornness there is nothing you can't do
Not all the androids can be repaired with JTAG because the manufacturer sometimes disable it. So never be so confident, that you can repaire the phone with a few bucks and no need to replace the mainboard. For example Motorola had only 2 or 3 models witch can be repaired.
And finally I am glad that you already customized your phone like before you bricked the phone and you came to me.

Hello all,
I bicked my E975 using FreeGee app. I tried to unlock it and it gave me a error message. Than I tried to restore backup and I get error message, again. The next thing I did, reboot the phone. After reboot, phone did not power on.
I have all backup files (.img files includes m9kefs, aboot, boot, recovery, sbl... etc) and I need to find a way to restore it.
When I connect phone to PC, it detect it as QDLoader device.
When I plug-in USB, charging led powers up for 3 seconds and goes off. At the same time I can hear windows sound (plug-in and plug-out USB sound). I have downloaded KDZ image and KDZ updater but it did not detect my phone.
I gave phone to friend of mine, he have riff box. He tried to resurect it but riff did not detect (as he said) the phone. sound like a impossible. What do you think?
Can someone help me with this, please.
Sorry for my bad english :/
Zidan made it clear, not everybody knows how to fix it. yeah, your phone is hard bricked.
You have 2 choices : send it to zidanro or to warranty.but i'm sure the warranty is void.

Quoting my private message to marko_s for everyone's benefit:
Take it to a cell/mobile service shop and JTAG the phone. It means that your phone will be open, some wires soldered on the chipset and the propper files re-flashed on the phone using a special software.
JTAG soldering
Hello,
thank You for respond. I send it to ONE service guy, friend of mine, and he connected it to riff box. Riff did not detect the phone.
I'm only asking if there is another schematics/a tip to connect it to riff in proper way to get it work.
Also, what is possibility that there is something wrong with riff and or way that connects to phone and can not detect it?
I think can phone be bricked so hard that riff can not help in this situation. ?
It is not burned in fire. PC detect it. So I think that there is something wrong with procedure he used to connect it and "flash" NAND chip.
Let me know if you have any suggestions. Phone is out of warranty, it's opened and soldered.
Thank you guys!
Hi, youre a lucky boy
Haha, you can install a mako rom, without brick, it will boot!
belive me!
(issues are no radio (2g, 3g etc..) , invent volume button, camera (not testet
i think combination e975 kernel and mako patch was bad idea
Nice joke
Hehehe, nice joke.
I must fix it or throw it in the trash. I do not have to buy Monalisa, I can hang it on the wall instead.
Can you tell me where JTAG pins are located? Under the board or on the top? I'm not asking for schematic.
I removed the cover and battery connector. I can not see any soldering pins and solder traces. I did not remove the board.
Help is really needed and appreciated
Thanks!
Wow.so you really wanna make a decorative object).look on youtube, there is a guy jtaging an e970. As zidan said,on e975 the jtag pins are located on the oposite side.

I sent my to one service technician and he repaired my phone using RIFF. He had to remove JTAG connector. It is well done. I can not notice that it was there at all . I pay 25 EU for repair. It's not big money for that kind of repair.
What I will do, when I find a time to do so,. I will backup my phone using QPST and post files here on forum.
I have to put my phone in some kind of recovery mode and so on. I have no time for that, at the moment. I think it should work/help to repair your device(s).

u sayed battery is dead?! try to open the phone and disconnect the battery (2 screws) and connect agayn and try.... for me it worked after my phone got very hot.. (nothing helped...)

Today i also managed to hard brick my phone. There was not a single notification that my phone is alive. I too found that QHSUSB at device manager.
But try one thing - 1) Plug it to wall charger for near about 15 mins. 2) Then Press Both vol buttons And then the power button too
( I tried Vol+ then Vol- and lastly power button ) Hold them all.
3) and when it shows charging screen keep pressing vol up button 1 time / sec.
You may not get succed for the very first time.
Try at least 4-5 Times.
Hit thanks If it Works  :good:

If you were not doing any sort of modification, it sounds like a hardware failure. Get a warranty replacement if you can.

Nope the battery didn't run out. It was about 80% left. And above of all, I was in the meeting at that morning and i put down the phone in silent. After that, i couldn't be able to double tap anymore then I tried power button at the back. I even try plugging the charger in and pressed the power button. Tried to factory reset it. And tried using different adapter and cable. The led light didn't even turn on. But when i plugged in to my laptop, i hear the noti sound and it shows qshusb_bulk in the device manager. I think it's on qualcomm mode. I saw some posts about unbricking g3 which is on qualcomm mode but no luck for G4.

It must be hardware failure but I don't have warranty. See the thing is I'm in Myanmar. The authorized distributor only sells dual sims model. But i never planned to use dual sims ones. That error means the bootloader is corrupted. No way to fix it currently without the right software and LG proprietary firmware. Not available anywhere I looked for the G4 (for the lay person at least). Since you weren't tinkering with it, could also mean the memory is bad.
Call LG.
Ask on lgviet.com there are guys that can repair a dead boot. One even wrote here I dunno if it was Manhit or else. They are in Vietnam, not too distant for you maybe
Edit it's @vn_mobile
I had one do the same thing. Warrantied it.

Contact the seller and ask if they can help. it would mean you send it to them, they sent it over to the service center and when its fixed return it back to you. you will be spending for postage. there is a warranty but its in singapore.
unless you can figure out a way to repair it locally.

Agree, quite rare, but it does happen. On my original Galaxy Nexus, the CPU just crapped out and died one day. That was the repair facility's assessment.
Flash memory specifically, not so much.

Nexus 5X unable to power on (red notification light)

Hi, my nexus 5x is unable to be powered on, with a red notification light flashing when i hold power button more than 10s.
Tried combinations of all buttons for more than 10 seconds each, to no avail.
Charged for more than 4 hours, swapped chargers, swapped cables, to no avail.
I am unable to boot, therefore unable to go into recovery or bootloader to flash anything at all.
please advice!
Have you tried turning it on while connected to the charger after an hour or so?
You may need to return it, is it still under warranty?
What did you do?
Did you root? Custom roms? Battery dead? Flashed wrong image?
Just got mine back from LG for this same BS after only 2months new. They wiped everything and said it was faulty screen cable/ribbon. Came back with no screen protector so I guess the replaced the screen as well. Warranty it. There's nothing you can do. I tried every fix, combo, cables.

It says "Qualcomm HS-USB QLoader 9008 (COM4)"
after meddling with power buttons, it'll randomly register and unregister in my PC

Thanks for following up!
I've contacted my seller on ebay and he is checking with LG for me!
I tried those methods and they also don't work, mostly because of compatibility issues.
It's a real vexing situation for me.

I've been calling LG to and i must go to LG to check the phone , it's far from my home .
yeah i know , it's very vexing me to . i have nexus 5 it's been 1 year without any problem .
Where I live there's no support for the 5x yet. So I send it with a friend to USA and contacted LG to send it as RMA. They say they fixed it.. replacing some board.. I don't know, I still didn't get it back. hahaha.
LG is your friend =)

my g4 just died

Got a Green screen wasn't quite Quick enough to see what was on it and it was to small to read anyway........now can't get it to boot it has a unlocked bootloader and was running twrp recovery can't even get it in to recovery either.....no download mode either. Any assistance would be much appreciated.
I didn't get any green screen but my h815 also died. I was browsing instagram when phone just turned off. Since thne when i tried to power on the phone it only vibrates and shows me lg logo and then screen goes off. If i plug in to the cragrer it only shows me battery with loading signe before charging and then sreen also go black. Also found this.http://thedroidguy.com/2016/06/how-to-fix-your-lg-g4-that-wont-turn-on-or-boot-up-1060712
guess i will just go for another phone. Thinking to buy someting for around 200€ and then wait for either new iphone or pixel.

It happened to me EXACTLY the same thing with the same app and everything, the problem is that i sent it to warranty and they didn't fixed it because there was "humidity" on it. 6 months now (and counting) with an old Alcatel OT 991D because i can't afford a new phone. I was thinking about buying a new motherboard for the G4 but it might not be worth it anymore...

Check on Alibaba site. MBs for LG are dirt cheap. You can convert your phone to G5 or V10 simply changing the motherboard. All other components are same as in LG G4.

Are you crazy. Nothing in the 3 phones are really identical. This would never work. So u can hook a g4 lcd to a g5 or 10 mb. But nothing else would work. The volume rockers and diffrent. U need to do some studying. What about the dual cameras. The g4s speker in rear versus g5s on chin. Wtf man dont tell people this crap. Now people will start buying other mbs and asking why they wont fit right.

unless somthing changed i didnt even know there was pinouts on the g4 like the g3 and 2
i may be wrong.
the g3s pinouts were under the metal shield
why do u need to force it to 9008 did u hard brick it or is it bootlooping on its own

no i tried to boot h811 marshmallow rom using emmc files from f500 and everything worked great till i saw the phone doesnt recognize the sd card so i tried to flash some of h811 emmc files and that was the dumbest move ive done in smart phone history
now the phone shows ? inside a battery symbol when the battery is taken off and no sign of life when battery is in it
certainly forcing the phone into 9008 mode and then flashing ls991 files which saved my phone for one time using qfil will save it for another time.
For now the right emmc files should be flashed in order to get out of this specific type of nonsense brick.
Im gonna try what is said here and see what it does but first im gonna check the voltage of these points with a multimeter
Buddy First Of All...
Remove the big metal plate...
Its easy it pops out.
Them on emmc right side there are 5 small golden points and on left side there is a ground point...
So on right side solder the 3 golden point and ground and connect usb cable to pc and dammmmmmmmm
Phone will be in QHSUSB_DLOAD 9008 MODE
Best of luck
Any help can whatsapp me

Tried it and it worked thanks:laugh:
Just managed to flash ls991 mbn files and then replaced them with f500l files(my phone is refurbished it says h811 but f500L is written on the main)
The phone boots up and every thing works great except one thing:
Phone cant read sd card But if i use only ls991 files i will get sd card working but no imei and baseband and camera
What the f is wrong with this damn phone guys????
Hmm So you got f500l
Well use the oldest firmware and flash it and see if it works
And if you get problem with imei I'll fix it
