It happened to me EXACTLY the same thing with the same app and everything, the problem is that i sent it to warranty and they didn't fixed it because there was "humidity" on it. 6 months now (and counting) with an old Alcatel OT 991D because i can't afford a new phone. I was thinking about buying a new motherboard for the G4 but it might not be worth it anymore...

Check on Alibaba site. MBs for LG are dirt cheap. You can convert your phone to G5 or V10 simply changing the motherboard. All other components are same as in LG G4.

Are you crazy. Nothing in the 3 phones are really identical. This would never work. So u can hook a g4 lcd to a g5 or 10 mb. But nothing else would work. The volume rockers and diffrent. U need to do some studying. What about the dual cameras. The g4s speker in rear versus g5s on chin. Wtf man dont tell people this crap. Now people will start buying other mbs and asking why they wont fit right.

The decive is only recognized as qhsusb_bulk. And I never messed around with any custom roms or rooting. The power went off suddenly and couldn't turn it back on. Please help!!!!
If you were not doing any sort of modification, it sounds like a hardware failure. Get a warranty replacement if you can.

Nope the battery didn't run out. It was about 80% left. And above of all, I was in the meeting at that morning and i put down the phone in silent. After that, i couldn't be able to double tap anymore then I tried power button at the back. I even try plugging the charger in and pressed the power button. Tried to factory reset it. And tried using different adapter and cable. The led light didn't even turn on. But when i plugged in to my laptop, i hear the noti sound and it shows qshusb_bulk in the device manager. I think it's on qualcomm mode. I saw some posts about unbricking g3 which is on qualcomm mode but no luck for G4.

It must be hardware failure but I don't have warranty. See the thing is I'm in Myanmar. The authorized distributor only sells dual sims model. But i never planned to use dual sims ones. So i tried to get the single sim version from singapore and the warranty from that country doesn't really seem to be able help.

That error means the bootloader is corrupted. No way to fix it currently without the right software and LG proprietary firmware. Not available anywhere I looked for the G4 (for the lay person at least). Since you weren't tinkering with it, could also mean the memory is bad.
Call LG.
Ask on lgviet.com there are guys that can repair a dead boot. One even wrote here I dunno if it was Manhit or else. They are in Vietnam, not too distant for you maybe
Edit it's @vn_mobile
I had one do the same thing. Warrantied it.

Contact the seller and ask if they can help. it would mean you send it to them, they sent it over to the service center and when its fixed return it back to you. you will be spending for postage. there is a warranty but its in singapore.
unless you can figure out a way to repair it locally.

Agree, quite rare, but it does happen. On my original Galaxy Nexus, the CPU just crapped out and died one day. That was the repair facility's assessment.
Flash memory specifically, not so much.

Semi-Dead Phone

Yesterday, my groupmates and I were presenting this VR application to our panelists. Somehow in the middle of the demo, my phone rebooted and it took a while before it actually opened. After it opened though, a few seconds or about a minute later it will reboot again and this happened a few times so I decided to turn it off. Later, when I decided to turn it on again it won't let me past the LG logo and it just keeps on bootlooping so I decided to turn it off by removing the battery and let it stay off for a while. Again when I decided to check on it, the phone won't even turn on even after holding the power button for a few seconds and trying to remove battery and place it back. I decided to check on it later again and it would boot but only until the LG logo again and this time it stays there for a few seconds and then it goes black and this just keeps on happening every time I try opening it. I even tried to do a hard reset (reset to factory settings) but only the same thing happens, the phone freezes at the "Yes" option when doing the factory reset and it goes to black after a few seconds. I even tried flashing a firmware but it won't let me do it because the same thing happens (reboots into LG logo, freezes and then turns black).
What could have happened? Is there anyway to fix this? :/
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Edit: My phone (H815) is running MM, not rooted,

Unfortunately you are also in bootloop effected G4 club now. If it is in warranty, claim it as its board will be replaced, it is hardware failure. What is Serial Number of your G4?

Your S/N is on the phone behind the battery. They will also need your IMEI number.
So you, just like hundreds here, and I am pretty sure it's thousands globally have got bootloop issue so there is no need to create new thread as that is not going to fix your issue as you are in the same boat just like all of us with probably your serial number starting with 505xxx.

Oh well, unlucky... I don't remember seeing any 511 developing bootloop which might be concern for others since I believe that from November 2015 they fixed the bootloop issue with hardware revision 1.1. I'm sure you'll find all the answers going through threads on LG G4 bootloop issue. Seems like the pins on the qualcomm chip get somehow loose or unstuck from the motherboard overtime (usually the 2 big cores) that why the phone is unable to boot when that happens. That's why disabling the big cores helps to boot the phone using only 4 small cores.

Problem is I bought the phone from an online retailer and all they have is labor warranty. I've also tried e-mailing LG here in the Philippines but I haven't received a reply yet and it's been almost a week.
Can removing the 2 big cores (hardware, is it even possible?) by a guy who can repair it, fix the phone?

That is not correct. 12 month warranty is provided by LG for the device so he can go ahead and get in touch with LG. As long as he's got proof of purchase that's all they ask.

Screen ghosting LG G4

Hey guys,
Yesterday I noticed some screen ghosting on my LG g4 on the top right where the battery icon, signal status etc are. I turned it off for 6 hours and noticed it got slightly better then i used an app which stimulates all the pixels on the screen for about 8 hours by flashing different colours. After this all ghosting went away but after i used my phone for about 2 minutes it made a new ghost. Please help me fix this permanently. I am currently using the same app with the intention of keeping it on for a full day.
It can't be fixed. However you could replace screen.

Honestly LG has given me the worst android experience to date. Had the damn phone for 3 months an it was the taiwanese g4 which has no way to unlock its bootloader. The worst part is that the screen ghosting came up on the same day i decided to sell it and buy a oneplus 3 instead. Now i wont be able to sell it for a good price and that means i can't afford the oneplus. Never buying from LG again.

I understand exactly what you mean.
i have it also and it's ANNOYING as hell!!! I returned mine 2 weeks ago not only because of this but also because i cannot see nor connect to a 5 GHz Wi-Fi network.
Just 2 months prior top this the phone killed itself (not even 1 year old) and had to get a new PCB. LG if you are reading this, i want my money back.
Note to the people, please don't buy LG crap!
LG G4 bootloop
The bootloop - problem on all the LG phones from the main series is caused due to a less safety check in fabric and causes cause the processor releases from the mainboard during heat, mechanical load etc and the connections were broken! To fix, the processor have to pushed back on the mainboard with heat - I think a hair dryer is a good way to do that
If there are any other problems with the CPU itself - I don't know but sometimes the processor itself can be partially damaged
I've even a G4 which has stoped working on June.04.'17 and I'll try to apply this step in a professional environment. (you've to fully open it, put a hair dryer on the processor, heat the processor and push it down on the mainboard) The best video on yt to do that: search for "LG G4 BOOTLOOP FIX REPAIR VIDEO"
>>By holding the vol+ -key and plug in the USB-cable it bootet once... ..and works... ..but then heats up! - That might work for quick saving data on the PC!<<
I hope that could help!

Wanting to Upgrade from a G3

Hey guys,
I'm looking to upgrade from a G3, the only problem I am unsure of is the obvious bootloop problem. Is anyone still using G4's that have been working for a long time? I won't be gaming at all, the most intensive cpu task I will be doing is probably skype video calls. I really want a G4, but the bootloop problem seems like a real let down.
I was wondering if there are any G4 xda members who have followed the whole development of the bootloop problem on the forums, reddit, and everything else. I have looked at lots of stuff, but I don't really understand the progression of the issue as well as if I was watching it unfold. If someone has followed it, they probably have a better idea than I do, of the overall current situation on the bootloop issue.
I want to get a G4 because the newer phones like the G5 are starting to look pretty gross and they keep getting bigger and uglier. The G4 seems like the last good step at the moment from my trusty G3.
Cheers

I want to get a G4 because the newer phones like the G5 are starting to look pretty gross and they keep getting bigger and uglier. The G4 seems like the last good step at the moment from my trusty G3.
Cheers

1. Buy a model which can be unlocked (like the h815 international)
2. Ensure that the serial starts with 603 or higher (604,605...) best is to ensure it was not refurbished (e.g. motherboard replaced)
3. Ensure you will have warranty for at least 1 year
4. Do a regular backup once you've received your device
I own 2 models with serial 60x since 1 year without any single problem and heavy usage.
I saw no single prove(!) that a non refurbished 60x serial device has got that infamous bootloop yet.
Guarantees.. you will get none. For absolute no device. That's why a valid warranty is important.

I see. So there haven't been any boot loop reports with 60x model numbers? I thought I read somewhere that LG hadn't fixed the problem at all?
I am planning to get the international version. However I don't know about the warranty, it seems like a waste of time. If my G4 ended up bootlooping I don't really think LG can truly fix the problem under warranty anyway. Either I get a 60x G4 without a warranty and it doesn't bootloop, or I get one and it does bootloop and if I also had a warranty it would be useless since that would mean that LG hasn't actually fixed the problem at all, and is unable to. It probably also means that at this late point with the G4 being an older device, they wont be trying to fix the G4 bootloop issue either.
I just want some more people who have G4s with later model numbers to give me some faith in buying one.
I know that fixed phones by lg with warranty still having that problem. But i dont know anything about 60x series

first i would either keep the g3 or find something else.
i havnt had a bootloop issue yet but locked bl and just the scare of knowing my device is unusable any day. puts me on edge
now i know some people arent as ocd or anal as I. but if u are any where near what i am you dont need the stress in your life. lol
its a great device i do have root just no twrp and it has lots of potential even like it is on stock rom.
im glad i got it but ive sold it 3 times now and have ended up with it back in decent shape so its most def a soldier
i dont and have never had a waranty i did a thermal paste cooling mod on mine and for all i know that paste is whats kept the solder joint from breaking.
never did actually figure out how to tel what serial num mine has but its not a refurb and it was manfacrd in 10 of 2015
some of the g4s have a flashable tot file to "fix the issue" by shutting down the damaged cores but essentially turning it into a mid ranged quad core phone which i have shut mine down and have tested iffrent lowered clock speeds and still ok. not blazing fast but works.
You could also just wait some days for the g6

if you in USA get h811 and check the list of h815 that can be unlocked if you not in usa.
6xx have bootloops i have heard of 1-2 603's so the chances are very low compared to the first one.
i have been checking the thread here and only a few 6xx

Yeah I did read something about that core shutting down fix. So you have had yours for a year? I don't know how widespread the problem is, because most people won't go to the forums to praise a working phone. I really want to get one. But only if I can be reasonably comfortable that I am able to mod it or something to prevent a bootloop occuring. What is your use like? Do you game? I don't. It will be used lightly compared to most. I never install games.

I'm not in the US so I would get a H815. So do you think the reason for less bootloops being reported is due to people not buying the device anymore? Less people have that model? Or less of the people who would come onto the internet and complain? Less of the phone geeks ended up buying later G4s because of the bootloop reports?

i use it like a high end phone should. im not a super big gamer got the ps4 for that i d.id a writeup a while back on coverting samsung gear vr for g4 and ive done my share of vring. i use a otg cable and or blueputdroid to connect ps3 control to it for vr.
like i said i got a sprint varient which is on older firmware rooted no twrp very few modified stock roms.
i like the phone enough i busted two screens the orig and a aftermarket. btw dont ever buy from fixez.com claim oe quality its just a sheet of reg glass broke 2 weeks after i bought it 6 months ago from a scratch no bull**** no drop i ended up putting the spidered glass back on it.
the way ive eased my mind is basicly i buy sell and trade phones all the time. i have a backup i keep put up just incase.
also like i said i did do a thermal paste mod that helps cool her down.
ive sold my g3 3 times and ended up buying it back cause the people loved it so much theyve all upgraded to g5.
when and if i could i would prob buy a g5 or g6 when it comes out against my better judgment of lgs part
the selling point of a g4 is the camera manual mode takes some of the best night shots ive ever seen. days shots are killer

So the hardware revision seems to have fixed it? I thought I read somewhere that it didn't fix it? Did LG at least make it less common?
Do you also know if this was happening to people across the board? Or was it just a few people? It's a bit risky I must say. How do you find the serial number?

i personly feal the thermal paste helped may not have.
but heat is the underlying issue of the ilapo bootloop the shear heat from the cores break a cold solder joint on 2 of the cores. i thermal pasted everything i could inside ill post a link to a write up i did.

Thats really interesting. Have you heard of anyone else warding off the bootloops with thermal paste? It seems like quite a good thing to do. It would also be good on the G3. Thing is, if I get a G4 with a warranty. I wont be able to do that. Probably best to get a second hand one and do it.
Has anyone permanently fixed their phones by resolering the chip do you know?
Thanks for all the information mate

G3 is not a bad phone and G4 is not a big upgrade so I am not sure why would you want to upgrade. I'm sure there are better phones out there especially with 820 SoC released 808 is getting old. I bought my G4 1 year ago mainly because it was very cheap compared to similar models from other brands but now I don't see anything why would you buy it.

That's true. The only problem is, I am not in it for the specs really I am more into it for the looks/feel in the hand and possible continued support on XDA for the device. The G3 does still have it yes, but I would like to slowly work my way up. What would you be recommending? I was actually looking at downgrading to a Moto X 2013 edition because it feels just so damn good in the hand. The G5 and G6 look vomit worthy to me. I just hate the look of all the new flag ships coming out.

Steer clear of the g4. Bootloop issues and if its not the rite model no bl unlock no twrp or root.
Good device but can shutdown and bootloop and day. Like a ticking time bomb.
Good device
Don't play games and you won't bootloop
Although at this point you can probably do better

Its got nothing to do with playing games. Well kinda the added heat from gaming does induce bootloop faster But I vred on mine and snes roms all the time never suffered the bootloop. But I also thermal pasted.
I Do agree is a wonderful device but that one issue alone is enough to stear clear

My device is over 2 years old has never bootlooped
I have a pre release
So I don't know
I don't let my phone get hot...don't let it charge in bed....play games...leave it out in sun etc
Only issue I have is when developers start playing with voltage...my phone will reject the ROM. It will start looping...I take out battery immediately....specifically LG modified roms

I'd say get another phone if its in your budget or aim for a newer manufactured model G4

Mine was rite at 2 years old I ended up shutting down the big cores in the end for the heck of it but about the same didnt leave it in the sun didnt use to much while charging. Tried to keep an eye on the heat.
Mine died of a bad tempered day I threw it and cracked the MB changed screen It lived for about 4 more months and just killed over one day. but like I said the Mb was split pretty bad up by the main camera

I use it while it is charging all the time
The problem is allowing heat to build up. Leaving it on ur bed while it charges causes ALOT of heat...so does playing games.....
Charging it in my hand while I use it does not
I don't really keep track of the HEAT
If it is hot it is HOT....time to pop out the battery
I'm still on 6 cores I also have 1gb ram less than everyone else

Avoid kernels and any ROM that has modified voltages and you should be good. Try to get a G4 starting with a 6 or 7 serial number
You will need a g4 h811 or 815 for custom roms
id say go ahead .. but get one that is unlockable. if you in the USA get a h811 tmobile and make sure it is some places sell as h811 but motherboard is another locked bootloader variant.. if in other country get the one that can be unlock research on that.. h815 european
also for bootloop get one manufacture after 2016 or 3 digits of serial number 601 upwards 605 702 ect.
Hi Guys ..
Thank you so much guys, so what is the model now to purchase (H811 or H815 or H818)?!! to have the ability to unlock the Bootloader and root.
Thanks.

usa h811 .. but it has less support.
if h815 then .. search in google for lg gg4 that can be bootloader unlocked .. its xda thread and it has all the variant list that can be unlocked.
