[Q] Any way to disable clip tray - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I use keepassX to manage my passwords, but clip tray prevents the passwords from being cleared completely. I can manually clear them, but it's a huge pain. Is there anyway to disable clip tray? Solutions that require root are fine.

Agreed - I tried to get an answer from LG electronics support and they couldn't help either. This is a huge security issue since the passwords can persist, even a reboot.
I found some old posts for the LG G2 that there apparently was some option available under Settings -> Security that allowed you to set a timer for the phone to clear out the "clip tray". Although, I can't find anything that suggests a way to do this in the LG G3 documentation on their website, and no one I talked to at their support had any idea what I was talking about.
They're convinced it's a feature that all the passwords I've saved from my LastPass account are visible and in the clear.

I also agree. It's annoying to have to open another app just to get a text box and clear it. Anyone found a solution for this? Thanks for the help.

LG Clip Tray - annoying message "Copied to clip tray"
I am using an LG G Pad 8.3 where this "Clip Tray" also exists.
The "Copied to clip tray" message when taking screenshots is a real annoyance when taking multiple screenshots because the message appears after a few seconds and takes time to fade out.
If not waiting long enough after each screenshot, the message (white letters in a black box) will be visible in each image.
Does anyone know how to disable/suppress that message?

My new phone is an LG, having found out about cliptray has also worried me. If you have ROOT, search for "cliptray.db" and "cliptray.db-journal". Mine was in directory, "/data/data/com.lge.systemservice/databases/".
Delete both these files and then make two directories with the same names. A file and a directory can't have the same name, and the cliptray doesn't know how to remove directories.

[Q] Custom Contact list for BT devices

I recently bought a new car and promptly linked the phone via BT. Unfortunately the Audi MMI can only sort by surname and with the narrow width in the in-dashboard display my recently called list can often look like this...
McConach...
McConach...
McConach...
which is less than helpful
So the question is, is there a way to have a secondary list, linked to my main list, in someway that can file the names as "Darren McConachie" (ie all one name rather than split into first and surname) and pass that to BT devices?
If you go in to contacts on the phone (the contacts app) not dialer. The click he menu button (three dot on top of eachoher) then settings you have some options there which may help.
Be sure to report back and let us know either way.
PS Get a BMW next time LOL
Yeah been through those settings, everything on my phone is sorted by first name! Looks like something I'll just have to get used to!
I have the same issue. In my old phone i was able to do a bluetooth setup to change the way these contacts where transferred. Even though i think this is an Audi problem, it could be worked around if the GN would deliver the contacts in a different format. This would be a matter of changing things inside the bluetooth stack i guess.
:-(
Martin with the new GN
Edit: Maybe i just crossover first names and last names in my exchange account, where this is coming from. I am only accessing it from the PC otherwise and there is an option to change the sorting so maybe i give that a try - pretty dirty workaround though

Tasker help needed

Hi, I would need help with two tasker profiles (and a little hint for the 3rd one ;P)
1st - Connect and route all traffic through a SSH-Tunnel when I am connected to a WiFi which is not my home-WiFi:
I tried this with SSH-Tunnel but "killing" the app gives random pop-ups + problem report + restart of the app (even when killing with root). Any ideas?
2nd - Screenshot when wrong lock pattern was entered:
I found several guides for how to do it with a "pin lock" but it seems as "lock pattern" won't work with tasker?
3rd - Can I somehow let tasker read/speak the following things:
At which time is the next alarm and in how many hours/minutes is that (alarmdroid)?
Do I have any missed calls/mails/messages (whatsapp/sms/facebook/...) ?
Do I have any calendar entries today and which one is the first one ?
I plan on using those the following way:
Put phone into docking station near my bed - Let me know if alarm is set and when it is.. also tell me if there are any meetings on the next day.
When alarmdroid starts waking me up, tell me if I have any missed calls/messages/etc and how many calendar entries I have today.
Thanks
Idk about any of the other stuff but about question 2...There is an app called secure settings..this app pretty much adds functionality to tasker and if you are rooted it adds even more. But basically you can use pattern lock through tasker after downloading that app..I am currently using it to have my lock pattern turn off when im connected to my home wifi and then turns back on when im not connected to home wifi...
I had similar issues as you where it would only work with pin lock but now with secure settings, its work with pattern lock. Hope this helps.

In regards to question number 2, I'd skip setting this up via tasker and just get the app Cerberus, its a pay app but its amazing when it comes to the things it can regarding security of your phone, in case its lost/stolen. It does have the feature your trying to set up, works with pin and pattern locks. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lsdroid.cerberus&feature=nav_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDMsImNvbS5sc2Ryb2lkLmNlcmJlcnVzIl0.
no I don't like cerberus sry. Also I got Avast for that

I'd vouch for Cerberus. Has really good security features. btw how would taking a screenshot on entering wrong pattern help. Did you mean to take the photo of the intruder entering the wrong pattern?

Yes, a pic is taken of the intruder and sent to me via e-mail.
The whole thing works.. except that it doesn't work when the phone is locked :S
Not sure why you dont like cerberus, it does exactly what you want lol..was just a suggestion.
and i appreciate the help I just dont like the app.
Tasker >add Task(+) > Plugin > Secure Setttings > Configuration > Pattern Lock
Set the context as you like..
Ye tried that one already -> doesnt seem to work :/
Regarding your #2 request, if what you are looking for is for the phone to take a picture of the user after a failed unlock attempt this is what I did in Tasker to accomplish this and more.
This will take a photo of the "intruder" after two failed attempts. With my Dropbox sync this photo is instantly uploaded to Dropbox for archival. Then the phone sends two SMS messages to my GV number, the first with the rough location based on the network and then another if GPS is able to locate them.
First you have to install the "Secure Settings" plugin from the Market. Also for photo archival I use Dropbox configured to backup my photos.
New Profile named "Unlock Fail"
Event>State>Plugin>Secure Settings
-Edit Configuration>Failed Login Attempts> 2 (your choice)
-Save
Task> New Task named "Security Photo"
-Media>Take Photo
>Front Camera
>Filename : Lock Photo
>Naming Sequence : Series
>Insert in Gallery : checked
>Descrete : checked
>Resolution: 640x480 (Your preference)
-Misc.>GPS Set On
-Misc.>Get Location
>Source NET
-Phone>Send SMS
>Number (Your choice, I use my GV number)
>Message "Someone has tried to unlock your phone, a photo has been stored and they are roughly at: %LOC"
-Misc.>Get Location
>Source GPS
-Phone>Send SMS
>Number (Same as above)
>Message "Here is their exact location: %LOC"
Then on top of this I also created another profile that would fire off this same task if an SMS is received with the text "find me". This profile also sounds an alarm so I can locate the phone.
For some other Tasker how-to's see this page, http://tasker.wikidot.com/step-throughs .

I would prefer Mail over SMS but the problem won't even go until the sending part as it won't even take the picture when the phone is locked with a pattern lock? Atleast for me here.

I do not seem to have that problem. I just tried it and it worked perfectly.
Now I have my phone configured for face unlock with pattern as a backup and my phone is rooted.
-Phone was locked with the screen off.
-Hit the power button and blocked the camera so face unlock would fail.
-Entered the wrong pattern twice. Once the second attempt failed I saw GPS activate and I heard the GV notification for the received SMS.
-I never unlocked the phone and checking GV and Dropbox from a different device and the messages were sent with my location and the picture was uploaded to Dropbox.
Not sure what else to say. I think I was asked to give Tasker administrative rights along with being rooted so maybe that is the difference.
i am rooted as well.. and tasker is in my SuperSU list :S
Rly weird
I will pay you for Tasker Profiles
I bought tasker because I see the incredible potential for the different profiles.
That being said I am dumb and find creating the profiles that I want a little bit overwhelming.
Is you are a tasker EXPERT on this site that would like to make some profiles for me that I could download & I will pay you for them.
An example profile would be:
IF I disconnect from Wifi Network by going out of range I want to automatically turn on bluetooth for for 10 minutes.
(Usually when I walk out of wifi range I am walking to my car which bluetooths music/calls off my phone)
IF within that 10 minutes I connect to a bluetooth device I would like to keep the bluetooth on until the pairing is broken. IF NOT bluetooth will be turned off after the 10 minutes
When the bluetooth pairing is broken I would like the phone to turn on Wifi for 10 minutes as I am usually walking to my office/house or place with wifi
IF within that 10 minutes a wifi network is connected then wifi will remain on IF NOT then wifi will be turned off
This is just one of probably 10 or so possible profiles I would like to create that are custom to my circumstances
I have a galaxy S4 Active from AT&T that is rooted
If you are interested in creating profiles for me please message me with your expertise & what a profile would cost
For most of you creating these things are childs play however for me it is not
This is my first time posting so if this is the wrong place to put this please direct me to a different area.

Lg g8 login prompt for permissions menu??

Could anyone please give me some input on this?
I've got a new lg g8 (new from Best buy on a sale, unlocked), and when I try to access several of the permissions menus I get a prompt to type in a username and password? I'd rather not reset the phone to see if it goes away (I didn't use those menus before, I tinkered with permissions app by app, so I dont know if it was there before right off.
If this is a legit phone thing I can't fathom what it wants. I've really not done anything funky that would put this phone at risk for getting something..and I don't want to just go typing in passwords willynilly.
Thanks in advance for any help.
I can't post outside links atm as I don't have 10 posts. On imgur the profile Raggyd has screenshots of the issue (and nothing else!)
I've never setup user accounts without admin privileges on a phone, but I know it's possible. I wonder if the phone is somehow set to a guest/demo account access. That behavior is very similar to when I tried adjusting deep settings in a showroom G8.
It's definitely not in demo mode. I can edit permissions app by app but calendar, phone, messages, and call logs permissions categories ask me for some login, and it's not my Gmail.

[Bounty $500] My note 10+ was hacked with stalkerware

My phone was infected with stalkerware, they had access to my files, could view what was on my screen, listen into my mic, view my cameras remotely, everything! It's incredibly creepy! From what I can tell they somehow loaded q hacked version of Google Chrome and or android web viewer. After getting suspicious I downloaded Kaspersky and ran a scan, I found 2 versions of Google Chrome on my phone one of them had the dual messenger app icon on it. The other one said it wasn't a current version from the apps store. I Uninstallerd and downloaded the current version through the app store. I tried to see if a packet sniffer would lead me to them but I think I was too late by that point. I also pulled the Chrome app qnd decompiler it. There was some weird things in there like ignore playstore version but nothing that I could find that would lead me to who was watching me. Is there anything I can still do that will lead me to who did this? I have a strong idea of who it was but need evidence so I can prosecute them. Any help would be appreciated. Im putting up a 500 dollar bounty if anyone can help me get some solid evidence.

Try logging into your Google account from a computer. Look at what devices have access to your account. I looked at mine a couple of months ago and saw a phone I never owned on AT&T. Funny thing is I have NEVER had AT&T. I've always and still have Verizon. I immediately removed, blocked and reported the device.

Not until after the connection was severed. My first thought was to run a virus scan. The only thing I found was an application was installed feb 1st and the clean version of chrome stopped uploading on Feb 1st.
Why are there two of these? And how did they use dual messenger to install doubles? I've disabled all of them.

Did you delete the corrupt Chrome already? The IP history may be in there...
you wish to find your IP address Internet history, you can easily do so directly from your Internet browser.
Step 1
Open your Internet browser, and click on "Tools" located in the horizontal menu bar at the top of the window.
Step 2
Click on "Internet Options"
Step 3
Click on "Settings" located beneath the "Browsing History" subheading.
Step 4
Click on the "View Files" button to find your IP address Internet history.
If you post the chrome apk that you dumped or anything else that you have that was related to the "infected" files, they might be helpful in looking for clues.
These are the apk files that I suspect could have been infected. Unfortunately I didn't pull them until after they were updated. But I believe there is still a change log kind of manifest if you decompile them.
On mobile? Im not seeing those options

From what I can see, those apks unfortunately appear to be normal un-tampered files. The manifest I believe you are referring to is a component of the apk that dictates things like permissions and interfaces, but it does not perform any sort of logging or historical record sadly, as the entire apk is replaced when an app is updated or installed over an existing installation.
I am not sure how much cleaning you have done of your device since it happened, but aside from clues or records which might be available from various services you use (finding connected accounts that aren't yours, history of any account activities that weren't initiated by you, etc), your next best bet would probably be to dig through the files on the device in search of anything that shouldn't be there. Hopefully there is still some artifact of the infection which could potentially point towards its origin. I will follow this thread, happy to dig through files in my spare time.
Does anyone know if android keeps a log of installs or qnything in the root folder perhaps?

Yes but I've never set up secure folder. Never felt a need to.
First thing I do is a factory reset (and hope that gets it) and reset the Google password.
Keep that bloody device 100% isolated from your PC and data backup copies including the SD card*. Wipe the SD card in the device before the reload and again after the reload. Do NOT connect the card or phone to your PC before the new load is proven clean. Load data directly to SD card from the PC then to the 10+ just in case.
Try to piece together when and what did it but that is a secondary concern. Consider it a drill.
Better get while the gettings good... that level of being compromised means no time to lose ditching the OS. I most likely wipe the SD card too and use one of the clean data backups I keep for just such an event. Torch all data on the device.
If it gets into your backup data copies you're boned.
OSs are 100% expendable, critical data is not.
*you can scan it with everything on the planet and still miss trojans, tainted jpegs/pngs, etc if no definitions exist yet. Expect multiple hidden infections now and go full nuke.
Isolating the infection to that device is only priority. It's possible the infection(s) are already on one or more backups and/or your PC. That's why it's important to keep multiple time staggered backups on multiple electronically isolated hdds.
I keep a 3 tier backup and my PC is never internet connected.
Keep your head and limit the spread...

Question Developer Options -> Memory Usage Question

EDIT: I just noticed there is a forum for the "Ultra" S22. Would a Mod move this for a noob please?
Hey! I just got the S22 Ultra 256gig a couple weeks ago for my Wife and I, and I've just begun exploring deeper into Android systems.
I wound up in Developer Options -> Memory -> Memory Usage. For my phone I created a new Gmail and samsung account for to be as fresh as possible. My Wife used the smart swap to bring over pictures and created a new email as well.
What I noticed, is seen in these pictures here - the screen shot pictures are from my phone, and the following one taken right after is from my phone of her screen.
Also, there is a "com.qualcom.atfwd" on both but when I click on each, I just have 1 "com.qualcomm.telephony" using just over 6mb under details and hers has 2 "com.qualcomm.telephony" under details, each one just over 6mb.
Could she have brought something wierd over from her Moto G7?
{Mod edit: Quoted post has been deleted}
Not really, just more to look into now. I made a secure folder and also used private share for a file on my phone, and later noticed I too have an extra telephony as well as acore in my memory usage.
She doesn't know about these, so I wonder what else could have had her phone showing 2 of each.
Edit: I did notice night before last, I took her phone to look into things more (and she doesn't use a password) and when I when to swipe up to open it, it asked for a pattern unlock that was the same kind for a secure folder unlock. This was after I installed a secure folder for her but I was just turning on the phone, not trying to access the folder.
Make sure in Contacts app, under accounts to sync it only has 1 listed. Mine was syncing to Google, Samsung, and something else.
