[Q] Fire Phone getting really hot - Amazon Fire Phone

Hello,
I thought this was kind of funny but after a day of messing with the phone it's a bit concerning. Anyone else notice their phone getting really hot after a few minutes of use? I thought it was because I was messing with app's that have that perspective feature but it seems like the phone gets really hot after I use any app for a couple minutes. Seeing if I should try to get another set or if this is normal.
My main concern is I have read in other threads of devices running hot for too long messing up the display/ causing yellowing.

[Q] Overheating

So, for the past month and a half, I've been having some serious overheating issues with my E4GT, whether I have it rooted and a custom ROM flashed, or running stock. It has now gotten to the point where the phone smells..funky, near the camera on the back. Now, Sprint labels the battery as the culprit...twice now, they just give me a new battery saying the old was swollen, and that it is what was causing it to overheat. Completely ignoring that I state it smells like fried parts. Now, the batteries were all normal in appearance, mind you, not a bit swollen. No water damage either. It gets almost too hot to touch the screen at times, not dangerously, but uncomfortable. I only use the USB cable and wall adapter it came with, as well. ..Yet, battery life actually isn't terrible, go figure. This overheating happens whether I am using the crap out of my phone, or just leaving it sit idle.
Any ideas what to do from here? It makes it almost too hot to touch the screen at times, not dangerously, but uncomfortable, especially if it happens when I make a call. I only use the USB cable and wall adapter it came with, as well. I've made a habit of unplugging it when it says it's at a 100% charge, too.
I'm sick of Sprint shoving me aside every time I go there, which is three times now. So, if there are any ideas as to how I can get them to just replace the damn thing without spending 100 through insurance..lay it on me. I've searched the forums for a solution to this particular issue, no avail. Hell, if it takes purposely bricking for them to pay attention, then I'll do it, but that's on the back burner. Far far back.
I have tried all sorts of things to keep it running smoothly, I guess my main question is how to get Sprint to just replace the dang thing.
Apologies for the novel, guys and gals.
**...somehow the title ended up being just one word. Not sure how it got deleted. I blame cats. "Major overheating issue, getting the good ol' Sprint run-around.." <--should have been that.
Go to a different sprint store....they're being dicks, never had that issue at any sprint store in my area. You have a fault phone and it needs to be replaced.

I have been to two, but perhaps third one's the charm?

I had the same problem and so did my woman. Do yourself a favor and download Calkulins battery saver E4GT ROM. I don't know how but it keeps the phone cooler. Seriously. Haven't had any over heating issues since. EL29 stock kernel always causes mine to heat up. Hope this helps
I've used that as well, but the thing still smells pretty bad whenever I use..well..anything. :/ I have tried all sorts of things to keep it running smoothly, I guess my main question is how to get Sprint to just replace the dang thing. I should add that to the initial post...

Do you have insurance? You could always just brick it to the point where all ya get is the blue led of death and bring it in and tell them the thing just suddenly went off on ya and when you tried to turn it on this is what happened.
Do NOT try to damage it using water because they have these stickers inside the phone and on the battery that change colors when they come in contact with water so sprint will know, and laugh in your face.
my phone also gets very hot like in 120 range
You could send it to Samsung under warranty, and when u go to sprint make sure its a corporate service center and not a 3rd party "authorized service center". When you go in don't mention overheating at first start off with "my phone smells funny, like burning plastic and when I pick it up I notice the screen is very warm/hot to the touch and sometimes has issues with the touch responsiveness" this should get their attention away from the battery and more towards the internal issues, more than likely its the SOC that is overheating if it's hottest near the camera area of the phone

Handset getting very hot

Hi all,
I know this has been asked before but instead of hijacking someone else’s thread I thought it best to start my own.
I got the HTC one X last Saturday (07/04/12) I have been messing around and getting used to the phone for a week now as I was an iPhone user. So I have not done much with the phone lately. Today I decided on my lunch break to play the game Where's My Water. After about 20 mins I noticed that the screen was very hot. In fact it was that hot it was uncomfortable to touch (mainly at the top) also the back of the phone (mainly at the top) was hot.
I know some people have mentioned that the handset get warm but mine is getting very hot, is this normal for this phone or would this be classed as a fault?? If this is a fault what should I do, contact HTC or go back to the retailer?
Thanks
As far as I know, you would check with retailer for replacement, if this turns out to be a defect. Mine never got that hot, but I don't remember playing for more than few minutes.
THanks schriss for a quick responce. I would also like to hear from other users who have done a bit of gaming on the phone to see if they also experience the same heat issue.
I have this problem too, but I've seen many others report this so I'm wondering if this is just the way the phone is made.
Is there any definitive way to find out how hot my phone gets, without relying on my feeling, such that I can send some actual numbers to HTC support/cross verify with you guys that this is actually an individual phone defect, and not just bad design present on all of the HOXs?
How much is infrared/laser thermometer?
---------- Post added at 03:24 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:01 PM ----------
I just launched Shadowgun for 5 mins and phone got worm, not nowhere near "hot". It didn't become wormer and wormer, just stayed "worm".
mine tends to get really warm on charging and when im on a long duration call..otherwise its okay..
Official HTC Statement: HTC One X is normal to overheat
Well that's a big party pooper.
JayceOoi: My wife found the exact same link yesterday at work and sent it to me. I decided to try and call the retailer anyway and they agreed to swap it out. So today I have a new phone and will need to pop it on charge tonight and see what it does after a gaming session.
I know they can get warm but not the temps I was getting Fingers crossed.
It's subjective.. I guess until we all get infrared/laser temp, we can't compare. For me it never gets hot, its always either worm or very worm, but I would never call it hot.

I have this problem of overheating too...
which is also playing games mostly
at the top part too...
I knew how hot it was by using this app called batter indicator
it went to 55 degrees Celcius and as mentioned by the previous post it's normal
it always happens though, whenever I play games and have to stop
I'm also wondering whether I should check with my retailer
may I know where you got your phone from?
Abernus: How is the result of your new set?
for me i experienced this one time , i was just starting a call and i felt the phone is getting so hot next to my ear , i ended the call as soon as i can ( it was my boss , i dont htin he will belive me if i told her that i have to end up the call becaus emy phone is geytting hot ) and the device temp didn't go down so i turned it off for a while the turned it , it seemed fine after that
I noticed mine was getting quite hot today just in stand by mode it shut its self off after a while, think i may have a fault on the handset as when i checked to see how the battery was doing just before it shut down it was on 28%
This happened to me browsing for 20 minutes straight on the 1.28 OTA. The battery monitor was reading 55C. I do not understand the reason for all this heat. I guess I can see gaming getting it that hot, but browsing with no Flash?
Needless to stay I think I'm going to stick with the Galaxy Nexus for a while longer and send back the One X. Too many issues for a $700 phone.
Well after having my new handset for a few days now I can confirm it gets nowhere near as hot as the old one did. However there is a different fault now. The screen seems loose in one corner of the device.
I have been reading reports of screen flexing. When I press (not hard) on the bottom left of the screen you have hear the screen stick back down the pop up again. If you give it a slightly harder press it will stay stuck for a while and then pop back up. There is no visible gap between the screen but there is play in the screen. Not sure if I should take this one back or just leave it as the phone still works.

Mine went for 100% to 70% in 1 hour and i was not running anything on it, it got hot just under the camera, it went up to 45.9c , I checked running processes and facebook was using 10% my highest process, strange how i have never even used it, I killed it and it re-appeared, I decided to re-boot the phone and everything went back to normal.
I have not played a single game on my HOX since i got it, so much for ICS , and android closing down misbehaving software automatically.
John.

Warning for big noobs like myself! (Nvidia Glowball)

I recently bought a HTC One X and I won't go into details, but I was trying to figure out whether or not it can withstand some intense gaming.
Needles to say, I have grabbed Glowball and gave it a try. I might be the biggest noob on earth for this, but I got scared when playing Glowball because my screen went black and glowbal was "minimized".
I really thought my device is about to die and all that heat is causing it to crash. However, after two minutes of deep breathing, I've figure out that in fact Glowball is a bit different from other games. As long as you don't touch the screen while playing Glowball, your phone will go in standby as if you were not using it.
So, if you play Glowball, when you see the screen go slightly dark, tap the screen and continue playing.
I know this might be obvious, and I know it was noobish of me, but I figured out, if other brand new HOX owners out there are trying to test their device and are getting paranoid about temperatures and stuff, they too might panic if they give Glowball a try. So even if some of you might find this funny, others might find useful.
Stay safe!

[Q] 42C while Quickcharging ?

Hi Friends,
after 7 years of Samsung I am finally back to HTC and so far I am loving the device except for one thing that concerns me a little.
After turning it on it started installing Apps, Updating etc. doing the regular stuff it was getting quite warm on the back. Not really hot but warm enough to be a bit uncomfortable.
Now that I plugged it in to charge I checked the temperature and it says 42c. I didn't touch it for 30 minutes, it was just charging with the stock charger and reaching this temperature.
Is that unusual? Should I worry?
Thanks for helping!
nervermind the temperature went down again. It seems like updating apps makes the device overheat. Anyone else with this experiecne when you setup the device for the first time?

It's worse when you are flashing TWRP and backing up in order to root. When I did that for mines, it had to update all of my apps about 172 of them. Phone was really warm even with a spigen case on it.
That's weird. I am not used to this kind of heat from my samsung phones. Maybe it is the all metal body that conducts the heat better to the point where you feel it.
It makes me feel like the phone is really struggeling and draining the battery.
Just regular Web Browsing will make it reach a solid 40C.
Anyone?

Random reboots and screen glitching

Hello , nice to meet you all. I am a new XDA user so apologies if i do any mistakes.
Yesterday, i got the 2 GB Ram variant of the LG G3 D855 from a relative. The phone almost works fine, except for two problems:
The first problem is that sometimes, the phone either locks up for about 3 seconds and shuts off (or maybe the screen shuts off? not sure), or either it completely reboots on it's own. I know, there is already information about this on the internet, however, some people say that it's a battery problem, some say it's an overheating problem. I am just confused. By the way, the issue happens no matter if the phone is charging or not. It also happens even when the phone isn't overheating, although it happens less. I may try a battery replacement, but unsure if it will fix it or not.
The second issue is, it's not really a critical issue, but it's just annoying. For some reason, especially when the phone overheats, the screen's right bottom side starts glitching (It also mostly happens on the home screen for some reason). And no, i don't mean flickering. Some glitchy lines appear at that portion of the display for about a millisecond and then goes away most of the time. Today the phone overheated when i was watching YT once and those lines appeared for like 5-10 seconds.
Also, i've noticed that the phone overheats a lot. Like, it gets quite hot sometimes.
I've already tried a factory reset, but it did not fix anything. The phone is running the stock Android Lollipop 5.0 firmware by the way. I did not want to take a risk trying to upgrade the phone to Marshmallow or install a custom ROM because of these problems.
I don't want to spend too much on the repairs of this phone since i've already got an another phone with almost the same specs as the LG G3. But i also want to use this phone. I just like it's design so much. Please tell me if it is worth getting it fixed and what i should do to get it fixed at the lowest cost possible. By the way, i don't understand much about the hardware of smartphones (I will get it repaired to an expert). So please, try to explain the problem as simple as you can do. Thank you and i wish you all a great day.
UPDATE: I've also noticed that the phone also has the screen flickering/disappearing issue.
However, asides from that, i've found an another issue too. So this evening, the phone was overheating too much so i decided to let it cool down a bit. So i closed the apps and put it into sleep mode. After about 5-10 seconds, the phone started doing REALLY LOUD tv static like noises. I immediately pulled the battery out, and i am afraid to turn on the phone because of that. I think the sound didn't come from the battery but i am still afraid.
I will bring the phone to a repair centre. But at this point, i don't know if it is worth getting it repaired. I am so confused. Is the phone dead or not? I've tried pulling the battery out and trying to boot the phne while it was getting charged (DON'T DO IT for your safety) and i get the "No battery" screen. I hope anyone that understands the hardware of this phone will help me. Thank you all.
