Scratched/scuffed screen already (Can it be fixed?) - Moto 360

So, yeah, after two days of ownership yesterday I briefly brushed up against a dirty car and scuffed the glass on my 360. After talking to Moto customer support, they suggested I exchange it at a Best Buy (where I bought it) because I'm still within the 15 days. I'll check out if the nearest BBs have stock and try to exchange, but I'm not holding my breath.
Other than that, what does everybody thing about trying to buff out the scratches? I'd take it to a jeweler, as I know they do that with watch faces pretty regularly.

Jeweler can't do anything for you. Talk to your local best buy about returning it. They may have to give you a break on 15 days.
Otherwise, putting a screen protector on it will likely hide most of the scuff.

I have little doubt BB will take it back. I'll keep checking in until my 15 days is up, though, so I'm not without one. Other than that, yeah, I'm sure a screen protector will hide most of it.

Im actually surprised to hear that. I can't imagine why they would accept a user damaged return. I thought most return policies, including theirs stated resell-able condition.

Here's a guy that said he found a polish for gorrilla glass:

I've gotten a giant ass scratch on mine now too... I'm pissed. Its hideous.
.... to be fair, it was from a couple of diamonds.

How to force hardware failure?

Is there a way to cause a hardware problem of some sort so I could use my warranty and get my phone exchanged?
Put it in a microwave oven for a couple of seconds??
With respect, if you want to exchange your device, isn't it because of hardware failure? If it's software, shouldn't a hard reset fix your problems?
Well, it's because of a few cosmetic scratches (as well as one on the screen) that I want the phone exchanged because I've finally ordered a case and screen protectors. Except... they didn't arrive before I dropped the phone ;_;
a 9V battery across the battery terminals probably isn't healthy for the phone...

I might suggest taking a hammer to the interface between your keyboard and chair.
I know that if you ruin the top right pin on the USB port the phone won't charge anymore. I'd say that warrants a warranty. Don't you have to pay like $70 now to get a replacement, or are you going to wait 2 weeks?
I'm remembering that everyone was griping about the cost of the TP2 when it was first available... and now you want to exchange a fully working phone???
stop causing the rest of us to pay higher prices.
Instead of exchanging the phone, why not pay to have the scratched pieces replaced... using your money instead?

Tough luck. But that is not what warranty protects it from. Had you wanted protection from that sort of accident you should have bought the plan through your cell phone provider. Falsifying hardware failures is not only wrong, it jacks up the price, and increases headaches for people who have ACTUAL warranty issues!
So goodluck with the attempt to wreck your phone, I'll laugh when I read the post about "HELP I MICROWAVED MY PHONE AND HTC WONT WARRANTY IT, HOW CAN I FIX IT?!?!?!"
Seriously, wtf.. it's dumbasses like you that cause this phone to be $600 in the first place.
Okay, this is a "sure fire" way of causing a hardware failure. You have to follow these steps in order or it will not work.
1. Find a high-voltage source. This may be your local hydro-electric transmission tower or the third-rail in any subway system.
2. Hold phone in one hand.
3. Use other hand to touch the high-voltage source.
And after some smoke and mirrors, your family/people in your last will and testament will be forever thankful for the new phone.
I am SO determined my new phone would stay looking new as long as possible that I've had my BNIB TP2 sat in it's box for 5 days now, waiting for the invisiSHIELD full bodykit to arrive from the USA - which arrived today! \o/ ... and it turned out I'd ordered the wrong one! /o\
... so now I have to wait another 10 days awaiting the correct version... *sighs*
However, I really REALLY want this phone to STAY looking as good as new, so I wait & carry on using my Kaiser in the meantime... by the time the new kit arrives hopefully WinMo 6.5 will be out too so it's no biggie waiting 10 days: I expect to get 2+ years out of it after all.
Joe
P.S. I've taken it out 3 time so far & stroked it *sob* then carefully put it back in it's little plastic bag. Soon My Preshusss..... soon.....

Understood his dilemma. The phone is expensive, and I would like it to stay as new as possible. Until now, I still don;t care to use a cloth to wipe the screen, even thou i had screen protector on it. sigh

I've taken, my phone, and put it in the engine compartment of my car with a sparkplug wire off, and let, the voltage from the coil, nearly 50,000 volts, arc through the phone with nothing.
as for putting it in the microwave, the first thing to go, will be htte LCD display, and the thin touch film over it, and I'm sure broken screens are not covered..... also tried
just take, a very small screw driver or a tweezer, and scrap off a diode, or resistor, or whatever
I'm sure rectal insertion would kill it.
its been my experience with WM phones & TmoUS that if you tell them there's a problem & that it continues to persist even after a Hard Reset, they'll warranty exchange it. So... just makes something up... I doubt they actually try to verify all claims.
if your doing it over the phone
Just keep telling them that the phone stops when it says t-mobile or whatever
, yes them with all there directions for hard resets, and keep telling them it freezes,at the boot up, they'll swap it
A pristine phone is not what makes you cool, hth.
Well, within 6 months there is a new phone out that I lust after so I want an excuse/justification to get the new one. That's a good reason to let it deteriorate quickly.
Leo here I come

Can I swap my 002 for 003 if its a bit banged up? (pics link inside)

I have 002 Novatec that I purchased from Radioshack on June 4th at 6am here in Salt Lake City,Utah. My question is, I've banged it up a tad bit and was wondering if I bring it in (unrooted/stock of course) to radioshack and explain to them why I want to be put on the waiting list for a new one (30 fps cap, purple hue,not as bright as 003s) and maybe even show them the comparison picture of the 002 to the 003, and they deny me, do I goto sprint next or call HTC or keep trying?

i was under the impression that you could return it w/in 30 days for whatever reason. at least, that's what Dan says in his commercials.
or you could just tell em that you get crappy service inside your house so what's the point of having a phone you can't use at home.

If it been less then 30 days your fine. Even if its been a few days over they can still do it. They might charge a restocking fee, but they can waive it. just be firm when handling those lovely radio shack employees.

Its 30 days if the phone is in perfect shape they have to take it back. If it isn't, like yours, then your taking your chances, you may have to plead/grovel.
Good luck!

Dunno, i brought it in couple weeks ago and showed the dude that sold me the phone the scratches on the screen, he was like dunno if we will be able to accept that phone, so I guess im stuck with it,.. which isnt a bad thing for me, just my wallet. So the question now i guess is, can I convince these RS guys to exchange my 002 with an 003 and hope I get an epson screen? I will be going straight to ZAGG HQ here in Salt Lake to have them install thier Invisshield since I'm so clumsy at it, if I do get a new evo.
You're still within 30 days, so even if RadioShack won't take the phone back can't you still cancel your service, or get a cheap dumbphone and change your plan accordingly? You can always sell your Evo on Ebay or something then.
EDIT: since the OP changed his original question, this post is no longer relevant
Probably depends who you talk to and how nice they are. Some Radioshacks will inspect the phone more in-depth than others. Basically you are wanting to exchange a nicked up phone for a new one. "30 fps cap, purple hue,not as bright as 003s" are not really considered defects. Unless you bought the warranty from them that covers wear and tear, then it's gonna be a hit or miss.
edit: I just skimmed your pictures and those are some pretty bad nicks. I thought it was just light surface scratches here and there. Good luck, but I'll be pretty damn surprised if they took that back.

Outside of just not taking care of your equipment your only real reason is from what you have read on the internet. You actually have no legitimate reason to return the phone. You probably never notice any difference until you read about it. It hasn't been proven with enough comparisons which panel is better or brighter. Now some are sticking with the nova panels. Tweaks are being done as well.
Funny you mention a refund due to it being heavy on the wallet yet you would take an 003 with epson if you had a chance.
Please don't post a complaint about how horrible customer service is when they don't fullfil your request.

I really don't get how people can't take care of their expensive equipment.
If anything, try to go to a Sprint retail store and see if they'll let you swap over or do a dumbphone swap then get on the list for the rev0003. Considering your lack of care for your equipment, your odds are low. It would cost them money to take your phone back since they'd have to replace the screen and camera lens.

Serious? -10000000. The reason I even began searching these forums was for a fix to the sluggish performance. This is not my first android phone. I've had an Incredible with Verizon and borrowed my cousin's N1 for a few days while waiting for the Evo to come out. Now that there is a psuedo fix for the fps issue, a real fix that doesn't break and FC everything is imminent. But a brighter screen with richer truer blacks and no screen seperation? Nobody knew the 003 were brighter with richer blacks untill the screen shot comparison.
I could tell immediately that the EVO had fps issues, the scrolling would glitch out and skip, the app drawer, the overall fluidity felt like something was holding it back, htc. I tried out the fix and man the evo blazes! Can't wait till they perfect it!

At the time of purchase that Radioshack did not have any screen protectors and only a universal smartphone body glove clip on case which is pretty dam useless, added unnecessary bulk to the phone and did not give me access to any of the buttons. It was just a holding case.
There were no limited edition Seidio Innocase Active Cases. Though I agree I am partly to blame for not babying it until suitable protection was available, one of the first threads I read was about how the phone had Gorilla Glass which seems like bs due to how easy it is to scratch the screen. =\

Sprint recognizing the Body Gloves crappiness...

So, over the past two months, my body glove case from sprint has basically just fallen apart. I remember when u first got it, I thought a lot of the reviews were full of **** bc it worked so well for me. Then, both of the top corners chipped off the backside just from normal use! No drops! I don't even put my phone in pocket, I use a holster.
The straw was when the piece by the volume broke. I called sprint, and they said that it was an in store issue. So I went in the next day.
I go in with my receipt. It was just over two months old, so I was all ready to cuss these people out when they said something, but the guy who came to the podium said I dint even need my receipt, that it was known problem and they replace these all the time.
Of course it varies store to store so ymmv, but if yours gas broken, its at least worth giving a shot at just bringing it back bc it seems like they've caught wind that these things are junk.
All spelling errors thanks to xt9 on my Evo!
Which body glove case?
Was it this one?
http://www.estocksurplus.com/product_info.php?products_model=BG-9145301-MobA
No, its the one sold directly from sprint
All spelling errors thanks to xt9 on my Evo!
the reason you didn't need a receipt is because its a Sprint only product, and its less than a year old because its for the evo (obvious) and sprint warranties all of there accessories for a year.
You are however by policy still supposed to have a receipt but i'll tell you right now that accessories at sprint stores are fairly loosely controlled haha solong as its rung out of the inventory doesn't matter
oh and BTW every single body glove I've ever sold for sprint was a POS the coating always comes off.
LOL I told ya! Even the one from bodyglove with the foam back is crap. I have had both versions and they are both POS. I will never buy a body glove product ever again, as mentioned they always start to peel as was the case when I had my Lg env touch. Otterbox needs to get the ball rolling so I can buy a case that doesn't explode when you drop it.
Mine broke recently too, I'm going to try too return, what will they do, refund me, give me new one, or can I exchange for different case?
Sent from my HTC Evo 4G using XDA app
I'm on my 3rd right now, the others have been returned without an issue. This one will probably go back soon as well because it's starting to break, that is, unless the Otterbox cases are available before it completely breaks.
This story is an EXAMPLE of why you shouldn't go into a store or whatever with a "I'm going to cuss them out if they dont do what I want" attitude.
Ask anyone who works customer service and they will all tell you that customers who act like assholes and start cussing etc will be told to leave.

Does it have to be within 30 days from purchase to get it replaced or refunded?
No, all accessories are covered with a year warrantey. I used up 6 of those crappy cases and never had a problem returning them.
They even let me return my last unbroken one and credited it towards the purchase of a new otterbox case.
I bought my evo used and it came with a Body Glove case. I have to say it is the biggest pos i have ever seen. The grey rubber back is peeling off and yes the part by the volume broke on mine too. I just filed down the sharp edges, I like having easier access to the volume. I'm going to be a freeloader and see what they will offer me in exchange.

Okay, maybe buy clear battery door from custom evos BAD EXPERIENCE (Positive Update)

Okay, so I ordered one a WHILE ago, and I received it. The door did not fit, in other words, it required an immense amount of pressure to place it on the phone with all clips holding, and even then the stand would not come out of the back of the case without excessive, and i mean excessive, force. When it was out, when you pushed it back in, it shifted the door out of place and forced one of the clips to pop off. It was not form fitting, as in there were gaps between the battery door and the back of my evo. Just for kicks I tried it on another evo, maybe it was just mine. Didnt fit there either. I contacted by email, no response. Website? no response. I eventually received a PM on the xda-developers forum, and was told to record a video of the problem with the battery door and send it to joey3002.
Really? Honestly? Over a 17 dollar battery door, I need to record a video and send it to you? Like the hassle of trying to get ahold of you and send it back to you is not enough, I would do it for pure amusement?
If I was really that ignorant, and could not figure out how to put it on, the worst that would happen is that you would receive a perfectly functioning battery door in exchange for another functionally perfect battery door, and be out the 44 cents for shipping it.
I understand that this was a great undertaking on your part, and you are trying to make a buck like the rest of the world. But I think that your customer service has to improve a bit.
I am sure there are many people who are happy with their clear battery doors, and the idea is f****** awesome, but there is no order support whatsoever, I wasted $17, and its just sitting on my desk in the same plastic wrapping it came in months ago.

UPDATE: Joey is working with me. I was incredibly frustrated, and hopefully this will rectify the problem. I will keep posted.
So the seller its on here?
Sent from my Evo, ho!
Same thing happened to me with mine. I got a Dremel and just slightly grinded down the slot for the kick stand and it's been working lovely for months now. Taking it off feels like you're going to break off one of the clips or something, so I just pop the top clips off when I need to remove the battery and only take the whole thing off if I need to remove the SD card. It's not a PERFECT fit, but I like the look of it so I deal with it.

Chargeback, duh. Had a similar experience with a screen protector that claimed to be bubble free and had 8 bubbles when I applied it precisely according to the instructions.
I emailed them once, did not receive a satisfactory response (to use scotch tape or something), called my CC company for a chargeback, got an immediate credit and final approval in a few days.
I bought one when I first got my Evo, I think it looks great. The fit is tight, when you first get all the clips in place, you almost have to slide the case down then to have it completely. It does allow dust to get under the cover which matters more as the cover is clear, but the stock cover does that also (not quite as much, but it still does nonetheless). To take it off I slide a credit card or some other similar card along the edge to pop all the clips out, then just take it off normally. So it is an incredibly tight fit, but it works fine for me. I swap between my old hero battery and Evo battery as needed, and I don't find it difficult at all once you have a system down pat to remove it.
I had the same issue, pm'ed and got no response...
followed videos and everything and nothing worked...oh well.

Chargeback. Call your CC company. Tell them it's crap. They will take the money from the merchant's account and put it in yours.
The only way to get through to shady sellers is to hit them where it hurts, their bank accounts.

Same here. I have 3 of them and they all work fine. Not one speck of dust has ever got in there and I have it in and out of my pocket all day. The fit was a bit funky when I first put it on but it settled in within a week and has been great ever since.
For those of you with complaints, the seller (Joe is his name) will work with you but remember, he's just another member like you and me who decided to make these. He's a regular guy with a day-job and a family and definitely NOT here to rip anybody off! Just be patient and he will work something out with you.
I have reached out to joe, he has either ignored me, or not responded, or asked me to record a video, as I stated. I think it might be too late for a chargeback unfortunately.

Umm, help? Screen Flickering.

I got a new S3 from USA AT&T today, bought a Zagg screen protector and when I got home applied correctly according to directions making sure to be extremely careful. (AT&T store didn't have them in stock to give and apply for me)
I booted up my device after applying the shield and now I get insane flickering even with power saving mode and auto brightness turned off, touch buttons are not functioning now, and I believe the water strips went off, I Know I didn't use more than the suggested amount for applying the screen protector and I'm super sad, because I don't have insurance, I bought the phone today, if there a chance that AT&T will honor the exchange? Phone, SIM and battery are in a bowl of rice as we speak.

There is always a chance. If younfind a sympathetic rep. There are ways to make it look fine but you have to Google that.

Okay so, after a few hours in the rice the screen is fully functional, but now the capacitive buttons don't work. What can I do? I'll leave it in the rice still overnight to see what happens next if anything. I'd love to wake up to a few answers if possible, thank you!

Without saying it is ethical to do so if your phone is already broken, don't you usually have like 7 days to buy insurance after buying a new phone?

30 days with AT&T, but I would also have to basically repay for the phone with a $200 non-refundable deductible.
I checked again this morning and the water damage indicators are both completely white, I was looking at the wrong area. I'll just go get it replaced soon.

just to note: a lot of the big retailers that sell these nice screen protectors will also install them for you if you ask (or for a small fee). i've seen this done at places like sams and best buy. it gets done right (no bubbles) and takes the kind of crap you've been dealing with off your shoulders. good luck and cheers
