HOW TO SWAP SD1 with SD2 ON METAL VERSION
ON THE METAL VERSION IF YOUR RUNNING OUT OF SPACE WHEN INSTALLING BIGGER 3D GAMES:
I have modified the vold.fstab on the phone (vold.fstab is controlling how the partitions are used on the phone), and swapped SD0 with SD1, so if you apply this games will be installed on the big partition! So now there is then 7GB free storage for the games. With the stock vold.fstab it would try to install games on the smaller partition and then fail. Get the new vold.fstab here:
http://www.mediafire.com/download/9vk1ske6l7ir812/SwapSD0withSD1internal.rar
After the install, reboot. Then connect phone to PC and copy all the content from SD2 to SD1, else some of your apps may not be found or startup anymore before you then reinstall them, because after the hack, the phone will look for them on the other card.

Thanks bro! You deal with these alot? I'm looking for replacement parts.

Hey I noticed something after I installed and external sd card to my Sophone i6+, the smaller partition became SDcard1 and the larger partition became SDcard0, what was up with that? I never changed anything they just flipped. But I had used your rom for this device., in fact I have reflashed it three times since then, and the larger card is always the 0 card!

[Q] Is 16gig Enough

I see the SGN2 on ATT only has 16g of memory. Should I wait to see if they get devices with more memory? I understand that you cannot really run apps from the SD card. Could some one please shed some light on this for me?

I can't imagine someone having 16G of apps? Matter of faxt 8 gig of apps would be crazy. I have 30 apps on my SGSIII and that is only .7G. Most Apps are only like 10M so it would take 100 apps for 1 G. Id say 16G is plenty. Buy a 64G SD card for all your media files and you should be fine.
16 GB is fine on a phone that allows an external microSD card. Put all your music, photos, videos, etc on the microSD and you'll have 16GB dedicated only for apps.
16 GB on a device that doesn't have an SD slot is okay for people who either don't have much stuff or that store that stuff on a "cloud" service (dropbox, google music/drive, etc) Personally, I don't like the "cloud" idea as it uses up my data allotment.
For the sake of comparison, I have 4 Gigs of music and many apps on my Inspire 4G with 8 GB micro SD Card. 16 GB internal with a 32 GB card will be more space than most people will use.
i actually had to clear out internal space for tomtom maps on my 16gb atrix (no option to use sd card for the maps) ....and i only use internal for apps.
yeah i know there are ways to force apps to sd...but it was causing freezing issues on the atrix...
so yeah, a little disappointed that there isn't a 32gb at launch...cuz in two years apps can just get bigger and bigger....

Seen the size of some the newer games yet? 1 or 2gb games will become common soon, especially for FPS and racing games now that the hardware is there.

Can't you install the APPS on the SD card, just like you can do today?
Was just curious on difference in file size between my ios apps and soon to be android apps. I will compare a couple of other apps later today but if this is the trend I don't think I will have an issue with only 10gb of usable space.
I just compared the original angry birds 2.3.0 and my ios app is 112mb and the play store shows the android version is only 24mb.
Netflix ios 30.3mb and playstore shows the android version at 10mb.

No, something to do with changes google made after ICS. I'm told titanium backup works, can't confirm til I get mine next Tuesday.

wow. That concerns me greatly.
For me 16GB is not enough for main memory. I have a 32GB SD card but unfortunately on the S3 and presumably the Note 2 App2SD won't work. So all you are left with is 16gb to install all your apps, which is really like 11GB useable. Well if you want to play games on your phone (I have been) a lot of these bigger games are each 1GB or larger!! I just Bards tale and that had an option to install 3.5GB!! So for me I have to say my next phone needs to have at least 32GB or larger especially if App2SD can't get working right. I was really hoping the Att GN2 would come in 32 and 64GB flavors.
1 guy posted in the thread I pasted that Titanium backup moves Apps to the SD without issue. I get mine Tuesday I'll be trying it first thing. If it doesn't work I'll have to return it, 10Gb is not enough for Apps now and future.

My main concern regarding the memory configuration is that I thought I read somewhere in the forums that internal memory has faster access than the SD card expansion memory. My current Galaxy Note is using a 16g internal memory configuration with a 32g Class 10 SD card. I was hoping to go for the 32g option for internal memory if it was going to be made available but maybe the speed benefit isn't that great.
When looking at the pre-order options, I only see the 16g model and it doesn't offer the white version that is listed on Samsung's site! I'm not sure if I should wait a little longer or just dive in now!

I'm in the same boat, I would like to get a White 32gb version but I read AT&T is only getting the 16GB and only have grey for now. I'm not sure if I can wait until the white one comes out or not.
16gb isn't going to be enough for me but I do have a 64gb sdxc so I'll just make due.

I have Titanium Backup, I don't see any option to move to sd. Anyways I doubt it would work because Samsung did their storage differently with the ExtSdcard vs what it used to be.

You can always root the device & install the mod that swaps the internal sdcard with the ExtSdCard.

About to pull the trigger and buy a Note 2

Hi all,
I'm about to pull the trigger and buy a Note 2. I want to get the Titanium Grey one as I already have a White S2 so it's not worth getting white again. I was looking forward to getting the 32GB version, in my country we got a some units of the 32GB in white and now they're out of stock, and I guess we won't be getting 32GB anytime soon so I've decided on the 16GB coz I got fed up of waiting.
What I want to make sure of is, does swapping partitions of the internal sd with the external sd card really work with some script or with roms that have init.d enabled, can't remember exactly. I've seen a few tutorials and it does seem to work perfectly with lots of users. I'm planning on getting the famous 64GB Sandisk SDXC card. Also does the phone's speed get affected if I load the memory card with lets say 40GB or more of stuff in it??
Please make me comfortable enough to make my purchase
Thanks
I am currently using the extsd2internalsd mod (look it up int the Android Development section) and what it does is place the app's caches and other files on the sd card instead of the phone (ex. The 1GB file of Asphalt goes to the sd card ehile the small main app remains on the phone). So far this method has worked perfectly for me (internal memory has barely been used) so it's worth giving it a try
Regarding slow downs, on previous devices (Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 7) when the internal memory starts to fill up I could notice the device getting slower however I don't think this will happen on an SD card (I have 5GB remaining on my 32GB sd card and so far I had no slow downs)

Depends on files used. Also, you might notice slowdowns when you get to around 10% of your memory's capacity. For instance, the 64gb formatted is ~60gb and when you start getting below ~10gb it might slow down.

Yeah I'm aware of that...I know that the 16gb is formatted as 10.6Gb something around that.

Yeah the note2 I believe internal memory was 10.7 available out of the box and 14.7 total. What did Samsung put on here to take up 4gb. I think stock android is about 2gb.

I usually dont fill up my phone with lots of images and videos...only apps and a few games that's. But the games such as Gameloft games do take a large amount of space..but I guess there is a workaround to this using GL to Sd or directory bind..is that correct??

Welcome~
I personally use directory bind. It is extremely simple to use and works great on the Note 2. Basically, puts the data of big apps to your externam sd card. All my big games are on my external now. Games like NFS Most Wanted, Modern Combat. I always have over 7 gigs in my internal. Currently have used about 30 Gigs on my external due to a lot of videos ^_^ Here's the link to Directory Bind Download the latest version "O" (It goes in alphabetical order)

It's impressed me with it's performance, battery life and awesomeness!
The screen is the best AMOLED to date and I have to say, i've seen a few!
Do it, there surely be workarounds for the memory pretty fast!
Later Edit: I see you finally did it, GOOD JOB!
I too, have the Titanium Grey, don't like white phones for some reason...

I've looked into the extsd2internalSD v5.5 mod in the android development section, and it seems great.
Right now i'm downloading several custom roms so that I can try them when i'm at work, I still have to go to my carrier to get a Micro sim card and will look for a Sandisk 64GB class 10 memory card.
Thanks again bro

Why 64GB

On main page for this forum why the ROM is 64GB when its only 16GB ?

The issue is the amount of internal (NAND) flash memory installed in the phone. When Samsung announced the Galaxy S4 they said it would be available with 16GB, 32GB or 64GB of internal flash. This is comparable to the Galaxy S3, which was available with 16GB or 32GB (and later 64GB) internal flash.
This has become an important issue because the SGH-M919 (T-Mobile's version) comes with almost half of the 16GB internal flash used by pre-installed applications. This leaves the user with less than 8GB for their own use.
Samsung's attitude is just use the external SD card, which can hold up to 64GB. However, the most recent versions of Android do not support running applications from the external SD card. So this not a valid alternative.
Though 8 GB sounds like quite a lot of storage, on my Galaxy S3 (with 32GB internal flash and 64GB external flash) I am using approximately 10GB of the internal flash memory. And this is with all photos/music/video stored on the external card.
I would have already more then filled the internal flash on the 16GB Galaxy S4.
In addition, no matter how much better/faster the Galaxy S4 is, I will not go from 32GB Internal flash to 16GB Internal flash while paying $650 for the "upgrade".
Both the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy S4 come with 2GB of internal RAM.
I hope this answers your question.

It has nothing to do with cleaning. It has to do with having over 700 apps installed, some of them using large amounts of data that could not be moved to the SD card. When I clean the dead and unused file I may recover 10 or 20 MB. Not gigabytes.
I backup daily with Titanium and weekly with Nandroid Manager.

Some of them are because I'm anal. I have something like 30 camera apps because I just can't decide which one I like best. I am a professional photographer and none of them work like my Nikon D-700 .
I keep downloading the Amazon free app of the day if it looks like an interesting game or utility. I have 10 different calculators (RF, Hex, Construction, Depth of Field, etc). Maybe 30 different games. I have a whole bunch of root/custom configuration apps. Even a bootable copy of Ubuntu.
I use Go Launcher Ex. I have the most commonly used apps on my home page, 2nd most commonly used apps on a second home page.
Everything else is organized into 36 folders in the app tray.

I am leaning towards the JB+ camera app as it seems to be the easiest. However, there are several apps that allow much more control for when I am too lazy to drag out the Nikon.
I use NeoCal in RPN mode for my main calculator but it doesn't handle Hex or Time Value of Money very well.
I sent you a private email about learning Java/Android and an app I would like to write.
thanks in advance...

But now that CM10.1 has HDR, i love it more Pics look phenomenal on the S3.
And im waiting for my back account to increase for the 16GB SGH-M919

Should I get 16gb or 32gb - 60€ difference

I assume this has been discussed somewhere but I really need a quick answer. I have a chance to get the 16gb model for 242€ do to a discount or the 32gb for 299€ on regular price. I have to order today though. I would have initially got the 32gb model on sale for 269€ but they ran out
I would use it to watch series and movies on the go and at home. Probably books too. Not really a huge fan of games though. I currently have a 16gb phone with 2gb SD card and still have some room in that. Not watching movies with it though.
So is the price difference worth going for 16gb model?
Sent from my GT-i9100 using xda app-developers app
If you can afford it I would take the larger model given the lack of an SD slot. I want all the storage I can get because I don't want to think too hard about what's in and what's out when loading up media and apps. You can use USB OTG but its not a perfect solution IMO. (I do intend to use external memory as well though).
Sent from my Nexus 4 powered by paranoid ROM and franco.kernal
Go with the 32 GB model. Regardless of whether you play games or not, you will most likely experience storage issues. If you intend to play movies, and if the intent is to copy the movies locally and then watch, then you will need a high storage device. I play 720p movies on my N7 and each movie file is massive.
You will need storage depending on your rooting and installation of custom rom preferences, along with using applications like titatnium backup,
Go with the 32 Gig, you will not regret it.

Storage space is like money. You can never have too much! Definitely 32Gb.
Over the years, I have had 2x TF101s (16GB + 64GBmicroSD),16GB Nooks (1x Color, 4x HD+s .. all with microSDs), 1x Gtab 16GB (microSD, USB), 2x 2012N7s (16GB & 32GB) and now 1x 16GB 2013N7.
The 32GB 2012N7 is my only 32GB device ... it never gets to under 20GB available.
I store MP3s and eBooks on the internalSD. Also I have navigation SW (with large offline maps) and a few large games on-board.
I have large movies on external storages. I actually like the OTG (on N7s) much much better than the actual microSD slot.
Why ?
* I could quickly swap the flash devices. They don't have to be the small&expensive microSDs.
* I would never forget to remove the external storage, when I leave my tab around. If it gets stolen ... I just get another.
It's just me. If you can afford it, go get the 32GB version. At least you feel better.
For me, the 16GB extra doesn't help much. I need a ton more anyway.
Keep in mind the is takes up space too. When it says 16 it's not all free space. I went for the 32 if you are opting to have something nice go all the way. Just my opinion.

You get 4GB less of usable space. 12GB of usable space on the 16GB model and 28GB on the 32GB model.
I'll get the 32gb one for 299€ as soon as they go on sale. I'll probably keep it for 3 years or so anyway. I'm going to do compulsory military service for 6 months soon and I'll pack my tab full on vacations
Thanks for your input everyone! The only thing I fear is that they release nexus 8 as I think that would be the ideal size for me.

[Q] Couple of questions about storage on this device prior to purchase

Hi all,
I've been waiting for a 10inch OLED device for a long long time now so very happy when T800 came out.
I live in UK however and they only offer 16GB internal storage. I've been patient waiting for 32GB version but that's wearing thin now.
Some reviews state you can use external microsd card for apps I thought I ask those that have already bought one.
I don't plan on initially rooting it until I've broken it in for few months.
So my question does this tablet allow you to use external sd for apps and apps data without hassle? I've not really used kitkat but Jelly bean made sdcard use such a pain. I know I can use link2SD etc if I root (do they still work on this tab without issue?)
If I install galaxy on fire and a bards tale my internal storage is already full so this issue is really important.
Thanks
Chris

Don't think so, although I didn't try when I wasn't rooted.

Thanks. I will try to be patient I think and hold out for the 32GB ver sounds like a lot less hassle.
Is there any model number difference between 16GB/32GB models? So many webshops are not even listing what the internal storage is on a model they are selling.

Ok, went to Samsung's site and looked up the 16GB Titanium "S". They list the model as "SM-T800NTSAXAR". I Have The 32gb Titanium. The model number on the box is "SM-T800NTSEXAR". So SEX is good. E may be what designates 32GB in the model number. But, as I understand things, Best Buy has an exclusive deal right now as being the only place that sells the 32GB version???

Chris, the Samsung included My Folders app can read/write to a micro SD card without rooting. There is also a built in function that allows you to move apps to external storage (micro SD card). Plus when you take pictures and you have micro SD card inserted the Tab S will automatically save the pictures to the external storage except for rapid picture mode which needs the fastest storage possible. I've not tried moving an app to external storage but have seen the picture saving work. The only "stock" limitation with external storage is that read/write privileges are restricted to the My Folders app. Alternate file managers (e.g ES File Manager) can read/copy but not write.

Other than media Its mostly for large game data files. I would not have more than 1 or 2 of these at same time but the available 10GB of internal would not cut it.
Samsung own webshop is awful http://www.samsung.com/uk/support/model/SM-T805NZWABTU
I almost bought one straight away but notice no where on the spec does it mention the size of the internal memory. Almost criminal.
Thanks for the model number just wish the stores listed half of them samsung themselves certainly don't
