[Q] Root for SM-P605 kitkat

Hey
I been looking in the forums, but I havent be able to finde if there is a root for kitkat.
Do anyone know if that is one and if so, can you plz link to the thread

Although I have a p600 and his method worked fine for JB and KK.

Don't use the P6700/601 cf-autoroot on your P605. It will brick it...
The old cf-autoroot is for JB and doesn't work on KK...
Go to the Original developement thread and look at the TWRP 2.7.0.1 thread. It will supply answers and links...

Hi All, hope I'm posting this is the right forum .Im quite a beginner in Android terms so please be patient with me ...
I have a Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 sm-p605 and use it while travelling , i dont have a computer with me most of the time so i rely on the tablet for most of what i do , yesterday i have updated to android 4.4.2 kitkat , whitout knowing i would loose full access to my 32 Gb SD card...well that made me quite furious as most people...so i decided try rooting it , after backing up all my files i used CF Auto Root ( CF-Auto-Root-lt03lte-lt03ltexx-smp605.zip , well that didnt quite work as i was getting
the boot loopwith the message RECOVERY IS NOT SEANDROID ENFORCING, after much reading i was able to recover the tablet to boot back , no rooting was done but im pretty sure i triggered knox and voided the warranty ....anyway i still want to try getting full access to my SD card, either by rooting it or any other way ,if there is a valid file explorer app without root i am keen to know, or if anyone can show me the way to root this device I will really appreciate.Device Details:

Now To gain root on 4.4.2, install Autoroot - Chainfire for the SM P905
Then search the forums for a P605 recovery (Its somewhere here)
Youll get full root with original stock recovery. Then flash TWRP 2.7.0.1 and then youll be fine.
Remember the current TWRP version on the main post isnt the correct version...Further into the thread there is the correct version.
Need any help. as per always im on Facebook and Am happy to teamviewer in

No need to flash auto root for P905 just flash supersu from recovery TWRP 2.7.0.1 WORKS on 4.4.2!!!!

Mate, you were told cf-autoroot DOESN'T work and will screw things up... Why did you flash over something not working right?
You needed to find the stock recovery first, then flash 2.7.0.1 (not 2.7.0.0) to get TWRP installed. You then flash latest supersu using TWRP. This will root your device and give you a custom recovery..
The only thing is TWRP can't make a backup to the External sd card if you have it formatted exFAT...
Best advice, flash stock rom (kitkat only) again using PC ODIN, try again...

Yep, autoroot for P605 hasnt been updated yet to 4.4.2
Yes you can flash twrp and then SU , I came from the full firmware reflash... I t was the only way to put root on at the time.

Having installed TWRP 2.7.0.1 on P605XXUCNE2 everything planted me! over the boot rom recovery mode and more !!!!
I spent two hours to get to switch back download.J 'thought my Note2 LTE 2014 was dead!

0. If you screwed something up, flashed a wrong recovery, flash the stock rom again. If you are stuck in a boot loop, there is plenty of thread about how to boot into odin mode from there.
1. Download attached TWRP 2.7.0.1, it works with P605. I have it myself.
2. Start the tablet, download SuperSU-v1.99r4.zip, place on SD Card.
3. Reboot into Odin mode, (VolDown+Home), flash TWRP. If your recovery is being restored, don't tick Auto Reboot in Odin and turn off manually after flashing, then boot into TWRP.
4. Boot into TWRP, reset to factory settings. You will be asked if you want Root at some point. I think it's when you reboot, I don't remember.
5. When booted into Android, see if SuperSU downloader app is there. If no - boot TWRP and look around, because you missed something.
If yes, reboot into TWRP again and flash UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.99r4.zip.
Congrats, you are now rooted.

he problem is that just after the flash TWRP nothing boot! or recovery (zebra screen) and reboot loop and very difficult to switch back to download due to the reboot loop!
Just TWRP 2.7.0.0 works with Version 4.3 Note: The 2.7.0.1 works with 4.3 rom or not ? just to test !

Attached version works with 4.4.2 Nordic.
After you flashed wrong recovery and have "zebra screen", Make sure you flashed stock firmware after that. Don't try flashing anything else before you flash stock.

I just tested a flash TWRP from your link, but it boot and stuck on the TAB 10.1 lte logo

Mate, flash Kitkat rom 1st then flash TWRP... Doing anything else is gonna get you in trouble...
2.7.0.1 TWRP has Kitkat recovery, not Jellybean so you will have issues if you flash on a Jellybean rom...

I understand you. Are you sure you're not missing anything? It might help to flash stock NEE again. In my case I ticked "Update boot loader", do you mind trying that?
Remember, TWRP is VolUp+Home. It should display colored text in the right upper corner on 2014 logo when booting, if it's entering recovery mode.

well i took that file from freegee folder, maybe you must flash this file first

Download CWM OR TWRP without any hassle
Just download freegee(root) from Google play store and once installed and opened ....let it download the necessary....then just click on cwm or twrp as per ur wish ......u might then feel as if the app has frozen....but it is the process of downloading...... And once finished it will show flash successful ....

i have a question on flashing the cwm recovery image, i had to go back to stock as i was soft bricked - i now need to install a recovery and i am sure that when i did this a few weeks ago on my g pro i used flashify and flashed the cwm recovery image through this app and everything works ed well, now i am trying to do it and it flashes the file but wont go into recovery - it says fastboot mode started but never goes into recovery, i also tried rom toolbox to flash it and not having any luck - anyone have a way to do this ?

Philz touch cwm is a good one, you can find here on xda, or via Google search. However, my personal experience with cwm touch variant on e980 is that it causes the recovery bootloop (where you just keeps on going back to the recovery screen). Version 6.0.47 is stable , and will not cause the boot loop say when you try to open the recovery by using the up volume + power buttons. This seem to be the issue too with the cwm provided by cm update in the developer's option. Read the postings in the Philz's thread if you want to know more about the recovery loop and the touch cwm.

Sorry, I flashed yesterday the last release of CyanogenMod 12 lollipop 5.0.2 and now the last twrp 2.8.3.0. I lost the recovery option in reboot menu. There is an option in android another method for have that option??

I downloaded the relevant .tar files for ODIN, my phone in download mode was detected in ODIN, loaded the file in AP (ODIN) and started the flashing. But my recovery mode is still the same old stock ones and says NO COMMAND. Where could I have gone wrong?

Install it like any rom. You do not need to factory reset.

OK. So it is like copy the TWRP .zip file to external sd card, power off the phone, vol up+power button+home button. Then choose "apply update from external storage"

Try re-downloading. The zip is corrupted. If you can't open it in 7zip you know there is an issue.

Before installing TWRP i understand that I first need to unlock the bootloader.
But there is no download link for N7100XXUEMK9 firmware in the respective thread.
Attached is the screenshot of my phone's stock firmware. Can I go ahead and flash the MJ5BLpatch.tar.md5 using ODIN?
then the respective wifi patch and then the TWRP?
Then flash the rom DN4 tim through TWRP?
Please guide me through this. I've been tryin stuffs for a while.

I've already get a modem for it bu it's not specialy for my region....fortunately it's working

Hi, i'm on stock LG 5 rooted and I try to install TWRP recovery 2.8.1.0 or 2.8.0.0 with Adb terminall and i inestalled true but I have the "secure booting error" when booting in recovery twrp :| and cant going to recovery !! i have g3 D855

By "LG 5" you probably meant Android 5.0.
Did you try to install recovery by TWRP Manager (ROOT) from Google Play?
After you open TWRP Manager, under "Device Name" select "LG G3 Europe d855" and under "Recovery Version to Install" select latest recovery (i.e. openrecovery-twrp-2.8.5.0-d855.img) and install it.

Hello, this recovery does not support encryption, it does not ask for the encryption password, so I cannot do much on my device

I think you should check this thread. Apparently bumps (kernel and recovery) need Kitkat bootloader.

Hi bro i try to install recovery by TWRP maneger andd Flashyfi but all says recovery True installed but when i going to recovery i see boot certifiation error secure booting error boot: cuz booting certifation verify in top and left side and my phone going to black screen and my led notification showing blue and red color . when i restart phone and going to twrp maneger or flashyfi show castom recovery not inestalled u can backup stock recovery

From your description, I think you successfully installed TWRP recovery and you have boot certification error because you don't have proper bootloader and kernel to start recovery. TWRP recovery requires bumped bootloader and kernel (see 8th post).
I recommend you to revert back to stock recovery and then follow instructions from link in 8th (my) post. I hope you have backup of stock recovery or you know how to extract it from stock firmware.

Will the newest version work with the vs985 if you have lollipop on it, and want to use the flashify method? I found 2.8.0.0 wouldn't work with mine, as an error would show up every time on the booting animation.

I ported TWRP to my F400 device using your D851 source on github. Can I post it on xda thread?

If you have installed stock lollipop, then you can't flash any image to boot/recovery partition. You have to downgrade to kitkat.

The error is because TWRP doesn't work without bumped bootloader and kernel. This was mentioned a few times in this thread and also in a few others.
I think you can fix your issue, without reverting back to stock recovery, with one-click script.

I have a cspire as990 lg g3 that I have rooted, but I cannot locate a twrp recovery for my as990 lg g3, but I tried the ls990 and vs990! any help?

This question has been posted many times, unfortunately without an answer: will this work with encrypted devices? I'm unable to mount /data, no pop ups nor text boxes asking for a password. I'm stock 20c SEA using twrp-2.8.6.1_d855-bumped. I remember using an encrypted Nexus device with TWRP and it did asked for a password.
Any suggestions will be appreciated! Thanks in advance.

I have problems in restoring my backuped device to another one (both [email protected]).
What I did:
* I used TWRP in recovery mode and backuped whole device (boot, data, efs, etc.) on source device to ext-sd
* I changed name of backup directory from source device (serial number) to correct name of target device
* I used TWRP in recovery mode on target device and restored many combinations of data, boot, system, modem
The results are always the same:
The target device stucks in booting cm (cm-face).
What must I do?
Is here a problem of TWRP or CM or of me? I hope the latter.

It was my mistake. Now it worked. Yet I took system, data, cache - nothing more.

Trying to fix fail to boot on some newer bootloaders, it's rebased on latest CM13 kernel sources and encryption support is enabled but I have no idea if it works.

This recovery is for i9295 !!!!!! do not flash it on your ATT S4 active

You have a locked bootloader, you cannot flash a custom recovery or custom kernel.

Something's weird with the IRC registration there.

Why in the latest official recovery 3.0.2.0 my phone getting so terribly HOT?
I usually used unofficial 2.8.3.0 MultiroomTWRP - when i boot in it, my device is cold (untill i start flashing something), however in the official recovery - the phone is booting with the high temperature of 45-48 degree, then it rise his temperature to 49-50 degree and stopps at that value. I do nothing to rise the temperature: it boots into recovery and lies on the table, that's all what i do, and the phone is warming up himself. Is it normal?

You have to check, read more details in forum, but if I'm not wrong your i537 have locked bootloader and this let things more difficult.
The instructions here usually are for i9295, that we can flash without problems.
Read all S4 ACTIVE sections, all threads for the last 2 years, maybe you can find specific instructions to your i537.
Just a note: always prefer other alternatives to kingroot, it is known to spy mobiles.

You have a locked bootloader, it is not possible to flash a custom recovery on the i537. If you want to be able to use the ROMs in the development section sell your i537 and buy an i9295.
