Runkeeper 5.1 Update - full GPS support - Sony Smartwatch 3

FYI - Runkeeper finally went out of beta last night and posted the full 5.1 version with full support for the Sony SW3 with offline GPS support.
Personally, I think Ghostracer is better, but at least there is a major app supporting the watch.

It's not up in every country. (In Spain we still have 5.0.3 in Google Play)...

Can you please post the apk?
Send with Tapatalk on Sony Z2

ok guys.. i tried RUNKEEPER STANDALONE uploaded in " preview" by our friend gs05
so basically it works GREAT... but with few things to set..
FIRST i had all values in MILES(so.. gs05 is from USA and probably that's why) but my mobile is set in KM so it probably had to SYNC with settings on my mobile.. anyway once i uploaded info on mobile they went back to KM.. so it was only on smartwatch 3 in miles !
SECOND i went also with my "second mobile"(not sync with smartwatch) and i had runkeeper over there too
smartwatch gave me almost 200 MT more.. and checking the track i could understand why, it started giving a wrong PATH .. that sort of " v " costed in terms on track 200mt indeed editing that track on runkeeper web i could get exactly the same distance as mobile did get !
Now is weird cause before going i started to use GPS in developers options and i had 17 satellite = i had a great gps just before starting to run..
i post here the 2 pictures so u guys can have an idea .. tomorrow i try to go jogging and use MY TRACKS on smarwatch and Runkeeper on second mobile!

Totally agree that at the start, it acts a little funny. It is as if it is trying to use your steps to figure out what the GPS line should have been while it is fully locking into the satellites. I saw this in the beta and reported it, but they did not fix it.

Runkeeper is a boston based firm, so they most likely did miles first and then will go to KM soon. Didn't even think of that!

Looks like there is a known issue with Runkeeper and Android Wear with respect to km/miles on the wear device:
Can't post the link since I don't normally post here, but the following article on the Runkeeper support site has the details (202830596-Wear-Doesn-t-Respect-unit-preferences).
If RunKeeper on Android Wear is showing your units in miles instead of kilometers or vice versa there is any easy fix to get things back on track! All you will need to do is go into the RunKeeper settings from your phone and toggle the units off and then back on to the desired units. This will force a re-sync with your watch!

I can't get it to sync afterwards. The track my watch has done doesn't show under activities when I connect to the phone.

Here is a newer version from the playstore...same 5.1, but they updated quickly twice, so perhaps it fixes the sync issues?

Updated from 5.03 to 5.1 today, new version available on the french Play Store.
Just tried this new version with the SW3 GPS
Perfectly functionnal, automatically sync to phone's app at the end.
but... :
- After some seconds, SW3 screen goes from colour to B&W but i'm not sure that the screen is in "transflective mode", ie without any backlight. (battery drain ??)
If i close the app by pushing on the SW3 power button, it didn't stay in transflective mode (time instead) and i needed to reopen the app (with wear mini launcher) to see my distance, speed and time since the start.
- The first 250 meters were lost and not counted for that Run.
It seems that the GPS is not ready when we push the Start Button on the SW3 and it needs some seconds to fix satellites.
Runkeeper should add an icon showing that the GPS Fix is ready and that we can start the run.

Sync problem this morning.
All was fine on the SW3, distance, time, calories... etc...
But when the SW3 has synchronized to the phone App, only the last 560 meters of the run were saved.
Time and calories were correctly synchronized.
All stats are false.

Bummer as the beta was better than that. If you aren't stuck to runkeeper, get ghostracer beta instead, which is strava based.
It is much much better and records perfectly.. Has GPS lock, custom fields, ambient mode, no sync issues, etc. I use it now even after runkeeper beta
See the android dev section in this forum.

:good: now registered to Ghostracer.
Will try it on my next run.

Hey guys where are you finding Ghostracer? I only found Ghost Race in the play store and didn't see anything on google.

Go to this same forum, then to original android deveopment...it has a thread there

With 5.1 sync now works! Did 5k yesterday and it worked good, synced automatically when I got home. Is it possible to change activity from walking to running?

Tried it once. Coming from using Endomondo (that has no standalone watch use until now) it's a pain in the ass to use.
With Runkeeper: No GPS fix indicator at the start. Much worse to read while running. No option to configure displays. Pretty small font size. A bright coloured background make it even harder to read while running. I prefer the dark theme in Endomondo on my watch with huge bright easy to read numbers. After the run the watch showed the run properly compared to my handy tracked runs. But after sync with the phone the half track was "corrected" to a straight line so I had to repair the track in the browser later. Also the first 100m are not tracked. I guess this is then the gps fix is not ready. There's still a lot room to improve and to do before it is usable for daily training.

[APP][BETA][Awesome] GpsTracka - GPS logging app

Greetings, long time lurker, first time poster. (Translation: Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, please move it)
I've made a GPS logging app for Windows Mobile. I'm sure there are others that exist out there, but I had to make this because it's lighter. The main purpose is to log to a GPX file which I can then use to geotag my flickr photos (example Greece vacation pics).

I was hoping to get some feedback on this app, all you need to do is install it on your phone and when you go out, get it to read your location. The source code is also available for you to see, so I won't post the CAB here, you can download it from Codeplex - is that OK? The codeplex page also has instructions, other information that you might need.
http://www.codeplex.com/gpstracka
One of the problems I've faced is that there is no Folder Dialog in the compact framework, I'm getting the user to enter a path to a filename and I just strip the file name out afterwards.
Another problem is that this isn't working on the Xperia X1!
The biggest problem - 450 downloads and virtually NO feedback!
So, I'd appreciate any feedback and if you do try it out, what your phone model is. All info is on the codeplex page too, so if you want to make modifications, I can add you as a developer.
I am so happy to see you post your application here. This is definitely the right forum for it.
I actually discovered it myself not so long ago, and I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a GPS logger. I have tried most of them and IMHO, this is by far the best. The author forgot to mention a few things, check out these features, and try it for yourself:
* works even when the device is in suspended mode, without having to wake it up whenever logging is required
* only switches on gps when needed, and switches it off once fix is acquired
* user defined location for log file (eg: main memory uses less battery than sd card)
* low battery consumption (as inferred from the above points)
* can be run simultaneously to other gps software (I only tried it once with TomTom, but did not have any problem in either app)
* small and simple, does what is required, and does it well
I am a fan :-D
I'll give it a try and see how it works, even though you appear to have tested it on a Tytn II already, I have a Tilt.
I like the convenience of TrackMe uploading everything to the website with the nice web viewer, and I've written some various things to extract the data, including a Perl script to geotag images from the same data. But there are times I just need a GPX file, maybe even to record it right there and mail it on the fly or such.
Considering light is one of your main requirements, not sure you want to add many features but one thing you might consider is also generating KML output. KML will plug right into Google Maps Mobile and is generally 'easier' for other people to use.
I'll try it out today, cheers!
Hi arman. You're better at this than I
Thanks khaytsus, any comments would be received with the welcome that a Mountain Dew would get if it ever came to the UK.
Nice app mendhak. I would of used something like this on my trip to Thailand last year. I ended up using Beeline.
What solution did you use to keep the GPS on while allowing the screen to turn off to save on power (and stop the PDA from getting hot).
One of my other threads has a few suggestions, Blackme and PhoneAlarm, both I don't find easy solutions.
Not usable for cycling
Is it possible to remove the limitation on the polling interval? 60 seconds is way too high if you want to use this program for tracking during cycling.
I'm still looking for a program that can do the job while the device is in standby mode. I have already tested a few, and up till now GPSCyclingComputer is the only program that I can use for this, but it's not really working well in standby (you can turn of the display, but you can't put the device in standby).
Anyway, thanks for the effort.
Hi, love the concept of your app. It's exactly what I'm looking for to geo tag photos.
Unfortunately I can't get it to work. My Bluetooth attached GPS works fine with other apps (and tomtom) on my Hermes but your app falls over.
I've selected the correct COM port and baud (default 4800) but when I click 'start', no data comes through. If I stop, enable verbose mode and click start again, the app crashes with an 'unexpected error' null reference exception (and a page of info too long to type, but let me know if you want it).
I had to the a photo to read it, but right before the error box pops up the screen reads:
"textbox.Opening....
Com Port COM2 Is Not On Device. The
GPS data is:"
I tried changing com ports in the bluetooth setup, no dice.
Any ideas?
can u explain, what does "Polling Rate" means?
can u make the logging interval to 1second? which means, the GPS coordinates are logged/recorded for every 1 second?..
Thank you
Looking for a light GPS logger and tried GPSTracka, but it doesn't work on my HTC Rose/S740. I get this error when trying to launch the app:
GPSTracka.exe
NotSupportedException...
Saw on CodePlex that it might be related to the fact that it's not a touch screen phone; any plan of making a version for smartphones?
Thought I was subscribed to the thread, didn't realize the replies came in, so I'm sorry for being late.
@icemantwilight - try it with the latest version on codeplex... it uses the GPS Intermediate drivers, and you can specify device names, so that means that the GPS bluetooth device should work now.
@pcboyy - The polling rate simply means that it will open up the GPS port and read from it every x seconds. To conserve battery, you'd obviously use a large polling rate. If you want more continuous points, then set it lower.
@jgeerts: Done, it can be set to a lower value than the default of 60.
@tytn2user: I stop the GPS port after every read, then use a timer to wait and then do the next read. The act of opening the port is what starts draining the battery (and hurt my thighs ), so this helps.
Wow! This is an awesome application! Just what I was looking for, for geotagging my photos. Great work Mendhak.
I have a little problem though. I'm trying to import the GPX file to an application called GPScorrelate, in order to add GPS coordinates into photos' EXIF, but I receive this error...as if the data format is wrong:
"Unable to read file 20090822_194822.gpx for some reason. Please try again"
I thought GPX was a unified format.
My example GPX file contains:
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<gpx version="1.0" creator="GPSTracka - http://www.mendhak.com/" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns="http://www.topografix.com/GPX/1/0" xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.topografix.com/GPX/1/0 http://www.topografix.com/GPX/1/0/gpx.xsd">

... etc
Is there something I could do with GPS Tracka to correct this problem? Or could it be an issue with the GPScorrelate application?
Unfortunately I didn't find many alternative programs for Linux for do further testing.
Greetings, glad you like it!
Yes, GPX is definitely unified, so I'm wondering if GPSCorrelate is looking for a node that isn't there. Do you have an example of a GPX file that does work with GPSCorrelate? If the GPX file doesn't work with that software, try changing a few settings.
Go to the settings in GPSTracka, and change it from tracks to points or vice versa. Perhaps GPSCorrelate wants tracks because it's trying to interpolate the location of your photos?

Yup, you are right! GPSCorrelate expected tracks as an input. I created a test log with tracks and it was accepted by GPSCorrelate.
Everything should work fine now.
Thank you for this great application and support. I will definitely keep track of this GPSTracka and install any newer versions you release
GREAT application But I noticed small problem also...
I discovered Your great app today and I will test it soon better. Its great it works as it works (runs GPS module in time intervals, not constantly, and on standby also) and I hope to get small battery drain. I have Samsung I780 and even having two batteries it is difficult to log whole day of trekking with any other app I tested.
I have noticed some small problem at the begining - Google Maps Mobile cannot open klm files generated by Your app. I tested other klm files I have (from BeeLineGPS and NoniGPSPlot) and it works, but when I try open one of Your app`s KLM it shows that klm files cannot be opened becouse it contains errors.
I will check tommorow if I can open it with Google Maps on PC.
Anyway, Your app is a little shiny diamond and I will try to promote it on PDAClub forum
Hello, I am using your program for a while and I think it's great. I am trying to log a route though and I want it to run the gps every 2 seconds (I don't mind the battery drain). I set it to do that but instead it runs every 6 or 7 seconds. I am guessing that is because it turns the gps off. What can I do to have it keep the gps open?
I noticed a pauze in the advanced settings. What does this pauze mean?

Google maps showing high usage even though I haven't used it.

I've noticed Google maps has been keeping my phone awake quite a bit during the day. I've never noticed this behavior before in any of my phones. Not sure if it is a Google Now thing? My battery drain while on standby seems higher than what I would expect from a battery this size. Almost 2-3% an hour with zero use. I can get through the day fine but poor standby drain makes a second day out of the question. On just plain standby my Sensation can last as long or longer with 1/2 the battery.

Uninstalled what update?
Not sure which update it was, whichever one is current. I used the Manage Applications menu to uninstall updates on Maps. It won't let you uninstall maps without using TiBu or something similar. Since Maps is considered a system app, you can only uninstall updates. That was sufficient to end the needless power drain.
I noticed when I turned off Google now it went away and I have the most current maps update. You might want to check it out

Don't worry, you are not uninstalling the all app just the update.

Yes. I've had location services enabled on every Android phone I've owned and I've never seen that high map usage so something is different about the Note II setup. When I was using Jelly Bean on my Sensation I never recalled seeing that heavy maps usage so I'm thinking something is off on my setup with the Note II.
After uninstalling the update it looks better. Google search on , ,gps on.
Anyway. .the battery life on this phone is amaizing.i didn't root my phone yet to flash a custom rom because everything looks awesome.

Hit the weather on the widget so it brings up the 5 day forcast. Top right corner hit the menu button. Again, top right hand corner hit the +, put in your zip code and hit your town. Now hit the menu button on the phone itself by the home button, hit show current city, and turn off.
Thats it, your good to go.
This is why I use AutoStarts to prevent apps from starting up in background and manage when the apps do run in the background so that the apps don't take up so much system resources. Yes, Google Maps does auto start when your device boots up and then runs in the background.

Americans Are The Most Spied On People In World History
More Spying On Citizens than in Stasi East Germany
TechDirt notes:
In a radio interview, Wall Street Journal reporter Julia Angwin (who’s been one of the best at covering the surveillance state in the US) made a simple observation that puts much of this into context: the US surveillance regime has more data on the average American than the Stasi ever did on East Germans.
Indeed, the American government has more information on the average American than Stalin had on Russians, Hitler had on German citizens, or any other government has ever had on its people.
The American government is collecting and storing virtually every phone call, purchases, email, text message, internet searches, social media communications, health information, employment history, travel and student records, and virtually all other information of every American.
Some also claim that the government is also using facial recognition software and surveillance cameras to track where everyone is going. Moreover, cell towers track where your phone is at any moment, and the major cell carriers, including Verizon and AT&T, responded to at least 1.3 million law enforcement requests for cell phone locations and other data in 2011. And – given that your smartphone routinely sends your location information back to Apple or Google – it would be child’s play for the government to track your location that way.
As the top spy chief at the U.S. National Security Agency explained this week, the American government is collecting some 100 billion 1,000-character emails per day, and 20 trillion communications of all types per year.
He says that the government has collected all of the communications of congressional leaders, generals and everyone else in the U.S. for the last 10 years.
He further explains that he set up the NSA’s system so that all of the information would automatically be encrypted, so that the government had to obtain a search warrant based upon probably cause before a particular suspect’s communications could be decrypted. But the NSA now collects all data in an unencrypted form, so that no probable cause is needed to view any citizen’s information. He says that it is actually cheaper and easier to store the data in an encrypted format: so the government’s current system is being done for political – not practical – purposes.
He says that if anyone gets on the government’s “enemies list”, then the stored information will be used to target them. Specifically, he notes that if the government decides it doesn’t like someone, it analyzes all of the data it has collected on that person and his or her associates over the last 10 years to build a case against him."

Wow, very nicely implemented for a third-party client! The snapped interface is very good as well. The interface when something *else* is snapped (which means it only has about 1040 pixels of width on the Surface) isn't perfect though (usable, but some stuff gets covered).
I'd be happy to sideload and test a new version.
EDIT: A bit more feedback: the app doesn't handle being backgrounded very gracefully. It will stop playing after the current song. I suppose that *could* be intentional, but it's annoying.

Thanks for the feedback, I just posted instructions to sideload the new version.
It should not stop playing after the current song, this is not intentional. Can you send me the following PRadioInformation.log file which should be present in
%appdata%\..\Local\Packages\28268splashtetra.PRadio_80qntxqrmk3vj\LocalState folder
Sorry, I should correct myself: it won't start the next song if the screen is off. Turning the screen on by itself won't start playing agian, either; you either have to use the media control and hit Play, or log in and have the app at least partially in the foreground.
If you still need the log I'll post it here in a bit.

Are you using a Surface RT or an ARM based tablet? If yes, I believe it is going into connected standby. In connected standby, windows does not let the app get the next playlist. I need to use a different set of API to support this scenario. As soon as I get hold of an ARM tablet I will add support for this. If this is not an ARM based tablet then please send me the logs.

Hi GoodDayToDie or any Surface RT user,
I have created a new version 0.3.3 of the PRadio which hopefully should work in your machine. Can you give it a try? I do not own one yet so I cannot try it myself.
Instructions are given below.
Thanks
Instructions:
1. Download Pandora_0.0.3.3_AnyCPU_Test and unzip to any folder e.g. xyz.
2. Open powershell as an administrator
3. Execute the following commands in powershell
a) set-executionpolicy unrestricted
b) cd xyz\Pandora_0.0.3.3_AnyCPU_Test
c) .\Add-AppDevPackage.ps1
[Note: It might ask you to login to your Microsoft Account that is necessary to get the necessary certificates to sign the package]
Thanks! Yes, I'm using Surface RT. I'm sideloading your app now and will report later.
EDIT: Works fine! I had to uninstall the current (store) version first, but it preserved my configuration (you using the roaming AppData?) so that was no problem.
The music playback did cut out eventually, but I'm guessing that's intentional (just the "are you still there?" check, perhaps) since it was after an hour or so of inactivity, and as soon as I brought he app forward again it resumed. I'm on a free account, BTW (used to subscribe, but between them not creating a WP7 app and the advantages of Zune Pass instead, I let it lapse).
One piece of feedback: you could put a lot more info on the About page. Version would be good, for example, and I didn't actually see attribution for the CC-licensed artwork, just a mention that it was CC-BY. Other than that, love it!
Seems to be working all nice and proper for me now too, on RT.
Eats far less CPU than letting IE run in desktop mode.
Edit: Every once in a while there seems to be a delay for it loading the next song of 30-45 seconds. Not critical, just noting.
Edit2: More feedback.
1) I can't forward to the next song from the volume menu.
2) It seems to stop playing after an hour and a half or so, on a Pandora One account.
3) It'd be nice if it could remember the last station and start playing on launch
4) Related, it'd be nice if it automatically logged in on launch, not sending you to the login screen. Perhaps a settings option to clear the stored user settings, and make it log in automatically?
5) I suspect this is more of an OS issue, but outputting through a USB sound card and putting the device to sleep causes the audio to become garbled and broken.
6) The formatting seems to be a bit off in portrait mode, the 'Log Out' button on the top clips over the station name, and there's a considerable amount of deadspace at the bottom of the screen (probably a good 1/3 of the screen is wasted)
And, are the advertisements on it yours or Pandora's? If they're Pandora's, it'd be nice if you could detect if it's a Pandora One account.
does this work for cdn. IP addresses? regular pandora won't let cdn IP users
i know on android, you have to use ORBIT something app, forgot the name, and on iphone you use that hot shield free VPN
Thanks for the feedback GoodDayToDie & netham45.

>> I know why it fails to play after an hour....Connected Standby, I will fix this in the next release.
>> you could put a lot more info on the About page. Version would be good, for example, and I didn't actually see attribution for the CC-licensed artwork, just a mention that it was CC-BY
I will add version in About page. Currently if you run the app and in taskmanager search pandora.exe, right-click and go to properties you can see the version. I will add attribution too. Good catch!!
>> I can't forward to the next song from the volume menu.
Forwarding is currently disabled as Pandora does limit the number of skips after some time. If a users keeps on skipping he/she will eventually hit this limit and there is no UI to message this to the user. This also prevented my app to be certified in the store so i decided to disable it for now till i figure out a better way to deal with this.
It'd be nice if it could remember the last station and start playing on launch
Good feedback, I will add in the next release.
Related, it'd be nice if it automatically logged in on launch, not sending you to the login screen. Perhaps a settings option to clear the stored user settings, and make it log in automatically?
Currently it should automatically login based on the credentials stored on the machine. Do you want a way to clear the settings?
I suspect this is more of an OS issue, but outputting through a USB sound card and putting the device to sleep causes the audio to become garbled and broken
Interesting....Thanks for reporting it. I would need to get hold of a USB sound card to try this out. Was this on the RT device?

Thanks Log Out button should not have appeared. Will fix it and i will try to make better use of the real estate.
And, are the advertisements on it yours or Pandora's? If they're Pandora's, it'd be nice if you could detect if it's a Pandora One account.
The advertisements are mine...Not Pandora's maybe i can reduce the number of advertisements if that is a big eye sore. Thanks again for the feedback.

If you use any VPN software to connect to US based server (I tried openvpn.net although has a data limit) you should be able to use the app to listen to pandora via the app. Give it a try and let me know how it goes.

It sends me to the login screen most of the time when I launch it, or if I come back to it if it's been inactive for 5-6 hours.

Yes I'm using RT, though further testing shows that I get the same result no matter what music app I use, so I blame the OS.

[Q] Offline Running App Support

I am a running enthusiast, but was reluctant to buy a running GPS watch since I wanted to wait until a smartwatch also had GPS functionality.
I have contacted customer support from Google as well as a number of the app developers to figure out which apps support offline (without the phone) support. Unfortunately, I have been getting very uncertain answers. I was wondering if anyone that has a Sony SW3 can comment on this. The app I currently use for running - MapMyRun - I'm pretty sure does not support AW compatibility at all. Can anyone comment on some other running apps like Runtastic, Runkeeper, Endomondo, Strava? Thanks so much!
well we have a thread talking about the only one supporting the offline mode. Runkeeper beta

Yeah, I saw that. I just did not want to know confuse people looking for information about apps besides that one. I'll be sure to keep up to date on that thread for Runkeeper info though.
Ok, at the moment we only now about runkeeper.
I hope my favorite, runtastic, jumps in but since the SW3 is the only one with wear and gps I guess the demand is not very big for this feature.
I hope more official wear watches with GPS will show next year and I'm sure this situation will improve.

Yeah, as much as I want to stay with my app since I've been using it for over a year, I've been waiting a long time to leave my phone at home when I go on runs.
I definitely agree that more watches with GPS will emphasize the importance of these offline apps. As I've said, I emailed pretty much all of the running apps developers. I'll keep this thread updated in case I hear from them.
You can run with MyTracks from google ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.maps.mytracks&hl=fr ) in waiting for other apps... You can have you time and distance without the phone with you.
May I ask which app you are waiting for? You always could use runkeeper and let it sync to your favorite App.
--> Online tool (Free) https://tapiriik.com/
--> SyncMyTracks App https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.syncmytracks.free&hl=en
Runkeeper is not available to be functional witout the phone... So i'm waiting for update of Runkeeper and Runtastic.
The update of runkeeper in Google play should be very soon, they just added untethered mode (in the beta) without adding any extra features or customization. So not a big update or change to the core of the app.
I didn't realize that you could get the RunKeeper data to transfer to another app. If I could do that for MapMyRun, I may consider it. Thanks for the heads up Basch88.
I also heard from Endomondo, and they said "For now we will wait and see how the smart watch trend develops and then we will consider what to do going forward."
I don't like the response from Endomondo. It's my preferred training app, but guess I'll have to switch to RunKeeper when I get my watch in a few days. Hope the competition release watches with built-in gps soon so the training app developers get going.
Just heard back from Runtastic. This is what they said "Hi Kevin, no unfortunately that is not a feature we offer. You need to have the Runtastic App with you in order to obtain readings on the Smartwatch. At the moment the Sony Smartwatch 3 is not supported. In case you have any further questions, do not hesitate to contact us!"
I asked if they plan to support the feature, even in beta, at any point. Still waiting for a reply. Also, not sure why they say they don't support the Sony SW3, and yet they support other AW devices. I was pretty sure that the apps and everything would work on all AW devices instead of just a select group.
I got exactly the same reply back from them.
Ive since started using RunKeeper, because at least the support the SW3 (in beta). I purchased Sync My Tracks and transferred them all over from Runtastic to Runkeeper.
They clarified their past statement. They followed up with:
"What we mean to say is that we currently don’t support the ability to use the built-in gps then sync later to your phone – sorry for the misunderstanding. The Runtastic app is already compatible with the Sony Smartwatch 3, but not as a standalone tracker.
You will be pleased to know that tracking with watches built-in GPS then syncing is something we’re highly interested in, and currently looking into! The downside, however, is that’s all we can say at the moment – stay tuned for updates about this though!"
Strava said the following: "Thank you for contacting Strava. At this time, we do not access the GPS in the Sony Smartwatch 3. I apologize for the inconvenience! The best way to share your idea is to post your suggestion in our community forums. We use these forums to consolidate and collect feedback from our community so if there is enough interest, it may be something we put on the roadmap."
So, it looks like Runkeeper is the only one that is willing to openly discuss that they are incorporating offline GPS tracking besides the generic My Tracks and Lifelog. Runtastic may be next up, but they aren't going to officially comment on it yet. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that MapMyRun follows through for me. Though their track record for bringing features to Android is far from stellar.
today i tried my swr50 on the track.. so i used both a mobile with runkeeper( not paired with smartwatch 3 ) and also smartwatch 3 with MY TRACKS!!
GPS on both devices worked well.. the map is accurate on both BUT..
while runkeeper shows 10.01KM smartwatch shows 10.13 km !!!
so it's a bit of difference !!
I did also another thing.. i EXPORTED GPX file from MY TRACKS on Runkeeper web site .. this was a sort of test and also this worked well , which means we can just go jogging with smartwatch and then upload , while we wait for a stand alone app, the file on runkeeper or other services!!
Honestly i'm really satisfy about my smartwatch!!!
i post here the 2 tracks 1 runkeeper ( on the left ) and my tracks on smartwatch second picture!!

Hi, where are all the strava users out there?
I've been working on a sony smartwatch 3 version of my app for the last few weeks and have just posted the beta to the play store.
The app is on the play store here: play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bravetheskies.ghostracer&hl=en_GB
and to sign up for the beta you have to join this google group: plus.google.com/communities/108600094791246159447
The app uploads to strava but you can also export a gpx file.
Smartwatch features include:
Semi customisable display, long clicking brings up a list of fields.
Low power mode where the back light turns off but the app stays on. This is very temperamental, hopefully google will sort this feature out in the next wear update.
Got it, thank you.
As you told me in google +, after joining the community, to become a beta tester we have to follow this link:
https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.bravetheskies.ghostracer
I'll try to test it yoday.
Just to talk a little bit, why strava is your choice to upload the data? Do you think it is better than the other famous fitness apps?
To summarize how to get the beta app with proper links:
1.- Download the google play app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bravetheskies.ghostracer&hl=en_GB
2.- Join Ghost racer community in G+:
https://plus.google.com/communities/108600094791246159447
3.- Then become betatester:
https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.bravetheskies.ghostracer
After that the beta is available as an update in google play.
@king conan : The app uses Strava because that's what I use for cycling and I'm a big fan of the segment leadrerboards. I've looked into adding support for other apps in the pasts from users requests but most don't support an open API, unlike Strava.
Thanks for putting the links up, I have not posted enough on the forum to be allowed to add links
Few notes about the smartwatch app:
The speed data field is broken, little error I made in last update. Will be fixed straight away.
You cannot change between Paired and Standalone mode yet. Its always in Standalone mode.
To swipe back up from the settings page you have to touch near the top of the screen and not on the list.

iWOWN i7 smart bracelet with heart rate monitor

This post updates frequently
This thread is aimed to bring together all the information available on the i7 smart band: firmware, troubleshooting, features etc. This thread is also possible thanks to the work already done my user roninzgz for the i5+ smartband
I video review will also be soon posted (already delayed).
The app called Zeroner can be found in the play store here, or, for the most up-to-date app, one can find it here, in chinese (4.0.1.6), downloadable to your PC. The Chinese dev thread is here
The best version of the app to be used in english is the roninzgz moded one Zeroner 3.3.4 in En or Es here, here or here
A fast picture album after I unpacked it can be seen here. More, better quality photos, will be updated shortly.
A short review:
First off, we're talking about the all black version (black anodized aluminium body with a black wristband). A very good quality build and I was lucky to find it for a bit over 50€ though prices can change change.
It uses a 1.28 inch Sharp Memory LCD with a 128x128 pixel resolution (the same as the Pebble) making it have a battery life of veeeery close to 4 full days. There are some things I'd change in order to increase the life span, like the backlight, though dim, should have the option to be set between a specific interval, and not turn on at all during sleep mode. This is, however, not affected by the "screen mode" balk zith white text or white with black text as the whole screen needs to be refreshed and it eats the same 3-5 uA (micro amps) to do.
The body is sleek and allows for standard 20 mm wristbands to be used. It's thickness is as advertised, 8.4 mm, but the flat cut sides give it thinner look and the heart-rate sensor "bump" is unnoticeable.
Speaking of the heart-rate function, it's not always on, but rather it is a discreet one, at a minimum 10 minute intervals, depending on the activity. If sedentary, then the interval goes to 30 minutes. It is very accurate in measurements (compared with a medical one) and, as seen in Zeroner 3.3.4, it has it's own firmware (though 3.6.6.7 pushes it automatically, simultaneously)
It comes with 3 watch faces though the new firmware update changes the UI altogether. The one on the device at shipment is 1.0.3.9, to be updated to 1.0.5.4 (using Zeroner 4.0.1.6)
The screen responds to both swipes and touches. It has 5 active areas under the glass (2.5D) and it's not "too" sensitive but you'll never miss a command if the whole gesture is done.
It stores up to 8, full text notifications (basically it copies the phone's notification to the device' screen) - this function will change in the new firmware.
The device has English and Chinese menus, though the English one is pictogram based. It is, however, very intuitive and straightforward.
The new UI will bring camera and media player controls.

More than sure. Since not only does it pair with the latest app (which is better secured than 3.3.4) but also took the update. Also, the dedicated Chinese forum thread is a giveaway.
It is an iWOWN product and the exchanges I had with the customer service (who only reply if you write in Chinese) confirmed it for me.
Cheers

I'll grab a quick look on how to get the hex file so you could manually place it in the Zeroner folder. Since I'm working with an iPad for that... I hope it'll not be "too" tricky.

Hi, neotion,
Yes, the i7 has a backlight, very non intrusive if viewed in dark places. I'd wish it wouldn't turn on during the day as there is no need for it.
I'm getting 4 days of use from it and regarding the video, I can't get a break: my camera decided to not detect my lens and i'm now looking around to borrow one. - Can't do it with a phone, tried it and it's just... :crying: ugh. the sound is awful is where I'm getting at.
If push comes to shove I'll shoot it with a phone.

ok, so, the Android 3.6.6.7 app does not work above 5.1.1 (since it work on cm12.1 but not on cm13)
by scanning the qr code in this thread with an iOS device you'll get an app that not only would work but also allow you to update the firmware - yes, the chinese devs like iOS more
so, get the image on your phone, find a friend/colleague with an iPhone and update it like that - sorry I can't do more ATM

yeah thanks anyway At least there is one option that will work.
@adibadro, thanks for the answer. Bluetooth connection is stable? How many meters range?
You tested modes sport? It works well and shows accurate results?
I think over the purchase, you recommend this bracelet?
Hi, got my i7 today!!! The watch came with stock 1.0.0.1 firmware.
I successfully updated the firmware to 1.0.1.0 on Android KK using Chinese app 3.6.6.7 version.
As compared to i5, where .hex is used to update the firmware, i7 use .zip file to do the same.

Thank you very much!
I was able to upgrade using the DFU mode i5 plus mod by Ronin. It also works on the i7. But u don't see any success message. After that i used nRF Master control. There i connected to I7s DFU 1 and used Distribution package, normal mode. Worked like a charm.:highfive:
But it seem it's kind of buggy for me. in the menu i can't enter the options anymore. i can scroll through them so. At least it is still usable and not bricked :silly:
