Consider replacing my SW2 - Sony Smartwatch 2

Hi guys!
Time has come to replace my SW2. I like it very much even now, but I wanna make the step to Android Wear.
I would like to hear from you guys what's the best smartwatch out there in the terms of battery life. One thing I like about my SW2, is the battery life 5+ days with moderate usage.
Every oppinion is highly accepted!
Thank you in advance!

i haven't done ane research yet, but i think sw3 has a better battery life for android wear, the look is the only thing that makes me want android wear, because none of the android wear smartwatch yet could have a prolonged battery life. since most of them (from the review i read) only could last a day or two
corrections.. none of them last for more than a day, here is a review, http://www.greenbot.com/article/283...-best-android-wear-watch-available-today.html

I wouldn't like a Sony Smartwatch again... but if no other oportunities show, I guess I'll have to stick with Sony...

SW3 has certainly the best battery life with his transflective screen but SW3 is also the badest screen in dim mode (99% of the time using the watch). All other wear device have nice watchface even in dim mode but SW3 has a screen like the SW2 so 2 colors only. You lost all the nice wear face.
Apart the SW3 the best battery life is certainly the LG-R with his P-Oled display. (I have an SW2, LG G-Watch and R-Watch).

Thank you for your reply!
So, you mean that SW3 is best in sunlight, but because it's backlight off, it won't be able to show colors. That's not a problem. I need battery life, not stupid permanent lit display.
I would like to know what the SW3 charging system? Classic cable? Damn, Moto 360 with it's Qi charging is great!

Yes, the SW3 has a standard micro usb cable.
When reading the review, it seem that in final, SW3 not has a very better battery life than a LG-R, maybe just a little.

Well, after a little research, I think my final decision (80%) is for the Galaxy Gear 2 and S6 (I will replace my phone too).
Thank you guys for your help (+1).
Have a good day!

I just buy a second-hand Gear 2 on ebay

Well, can you point me out a few things?
- How is the battery life (hard usage/normal usage/light usage)?
- How is the screen in bright conditions?
- How many apps are available for the Gear 2?
- How is the camera (can you post a normal sample and a macro sample)?
- How is the Bluetooth signal? Do you get random disconnects?
- How is the speaker and the microphone?
I really appreciate if you're willing to help.
Thank you!

I'm wating for my new Gear 2 Neo, maybe at end of week or Monday.
I made some research for app but it is difficult because you can not see app store without Gear connected at your phone
Samsung claim 300apps. App seen in google search seem very interessting.
AlarmPro
Gear Tasks
wrist list
APE Pad
Quick Notes
My Notes
.......

Received today Very very very..... nice smartwatch !
First day is a very high usage so can say anything on normal use. I'm at 36% after 12H of install and test many apps and alarm with vibe and sound.
Screen can bright very high, I use the mini otherwise it is too bright indoor.
I have yet loaded many many very usefull app, more than the SW2
No camera on Gear 2 Neo
No disconnection
Speaker and micro is nice when using S-Voice input and output. but it is not a 100w amplifier

Thank you for your oppinion!
I think that I will wait for LG G4 and SW3 combination. Thank you very much for your help, guys!
Have a great day!

SW3
I have just returned my SW3 because of some screen problems . I was very disappointed firstly with the build quality (I bought in Nederlands) and than with Android Wear functions.
You can still do plenty more with AW than with SW2's software but I'll stick with Sony's software a bit longer because SW3 couldn't do the following:
-show you misses calls,
-let you read older emails or messages,
-battery only lets you have fun without charge for 2 days,
-it feels as two little interest is invested in releasing relevant updates for it.

[Q] My understanding of "Always-On"/various smart watches...

Ok, I have owned several smart watches and I thought I understood, "Always-On".
1) My Samsung Gear Live did have "Always-On" and the battery would last about 1 day or a little more.
2) My Samsung Gear 2 did NOT have "Always-On" and the battery life lasted for days (3-4).
My Moto 360 does NOT have "Always-On" and lasts about 24 hours. Seems like it would be like #2 above ie. battery lasting 3-4 days. Why is it not???
If I turn "Ambient Screen" on the battery last about 9 hours. Seems like this would be like #1 above. Why is it not???
My understanding was all the Android Wear smart watches would be "Always-On". Of course this mean dimmed like my Samsung Gear Live was but still...it was "Always-On".
Can someone help explain why the Moto 360 isn't "Always-On" like the other Android Wear watches? And also, since it's Not "Always-On" why the battery life is so different than the other smart watches that aren't "Always-On"?
Thanks!
Theres two main things that negatively impact battery life.
#1 The screen is an LCD while samsung uses AMOLED. AMOLED saves a lot of energy when using black backgrounds (dimmed mode or always on). AMOLED can selectively light individual pixels and only light up the ones being used in a dimmed state. While LCD has to power a backlight for the whole display regardless of what parts of the display are being used
#2 The older TI OMAP 3 processor in the moto 360 is more power hungry since it is built on an old 45 nm process.
So the more the screen is on and the processor has to do work, the faster it drains.

Moto 360 or Asus Zenwatch

Looking to get an Android Wear smartwatch.
The Moto has the better water resistance, bigger circular screen but the Asus has better battery, P-OLED screen and faster CPU.
Some Moto 360 users are reporting problems like screen burn in, and battery drain, should I be worried about this?
I need the battery to last from 7 AM to 10 PM.
In for feedback also.
I just got the Moto 360 yesterday and so far it is very nice, but honestly think I prefer my Pebble Time more. Would love to hear other users input.

I have had my watch since February, no screen burn in at all. I charge it all night so the screen is on all night as well.
I usually take mine off the charger at 5:30 am and don't put it back on until 10:30 pm and I am normally in the 30's at that point. I have a lot of notifications that come through during the day, I would say 5 to 10 an hour on average. On days I run and use runkeeper it will take about 10% off the battery life every 45 min. So my average days I have no issues making it through a full day. I have found that I need to restart the watch about once a week to maintain this, if not I can have a day where the battery life tanks for no reason.
If you plan to use GPS (Maps) a lot or use the watch to play music via bluetooth from the watch those both will kill the battery faster.
I have had my moto360 for about 2 weeks... But here's the catch (now this obviously may vary from person to person)
When the Moto360 first came out, I was sold on it, I wanted one... But I waited. So now that I bought one I had to go through 2 exchanges because, the first one had a severe battery drain problem and the 2nd one, once it died, wouldn't turn on, even after a day of being on the charger. Now that I have a 3rd (which was my final exchange, and would have requested a refund after) it seems to be working great! I love the build. Of course I wish many things about it were better, but because I like it so much I was willing to get one that works. Just like you're phone, if you use it smart you can get great battery life out of it. When I'm home I have it disconnected from my Bluetooth connection because I don't use it. I can get to the end of the night with 20% or so left. Easily lasting from 7am to midnight. At the price it's set at now, I believe it's worth it. At least until v2 comes out.

I don't think screen burn in is possible on moto 360 since it doesn't have oled.
Mine on full charge lasts day and a half and I'm using it as a pedometer and I've got a watchface which takes my heart rate everytime I turn the screen on.
Big battery savings: Ambient screen (doh), Tilt to wake screen OFF! Just tilt to wake off at least doubles my battery life.

Which watchface is that? I'd love to see more frequent HR data.

An one I made myself. After I downloaded tons of free watchfaces and even wasted money purchasing watchfaces I used for a few hours before realizing they won't work for me. I realized that if I want something tailored EXACTLY for my needs, I'll have to make it myself.
Inspired by Iguana's http://facerepo.com/app/faces/details/military-digital-watchface-14a9a3f7838 I stole his compass ring and heart and steps icon. I hope He won't mind too much since I made it strictly for my own use, no distribution intended.

Better view with my G-watch. IPS screen has same drain with black or white pixel, so no need to paid attention at your watchface
For the runtime, my SW3 not last more time (screen always ON) and with the battery drain issue with the SW3 the G-Watch win
I've not tried the LG.. but iv'e had both IPS and AMOLED screen phones, and neither of them can be viewed properly in direct sunlight at max brightness. The SW3 has a transreflective display that works great under the sun (though color takes a hit) and has standalone GPS so if you're the outdoorsy type I recommend the SW3.

What a stupid argument, SW3 has by far better battery life than G watch, and SW3 has wifi, GPS, NFC and it's newer.

I have an LG-G watch and an SW3, so I know how is the battery life for the 2 watch.
Have you and use you this 2 watch ?
I do not use wifi and the SW3 GPS do not work well in most of the time. I use my Garmin VA for the GPS and on the Garmin it works always well. And for what I need NFC ? nothing, I disable NFC on all phone.
I think I will go for the sw3

My g watch and sw3 both always on screen are very similar when it comes to battery. I recommend the sw3 if you are at all outside. The g watch has a better screen. (And faster updates)
SW3 was best buy for me ... almost gone for LG but end of day.
its sleek + usb charging + 2 days life + dam that screen really works outdoors in super bright sunlight!
my daily travel companion now.

losing 30% -40% battery overnight?

I was just wondering what is the normal battery drain amount, I can barely seem to get a day out of the battery... Last night I put it in airplane mode and theatre mode and it made no difference in battery, it went about 30% over 8 hours. During the day it's ever worse. I get anywhere from 7 to 15% battery drainage per hour. Somedays I can barely make it the entire day. Do I have a defective unit? what are you guys getting in terms of battery use in your watches. I have the latest android 6.0.1 and android wear 1.5.0.3044569 Build number M1D63G.
I purchased the watch about a week ago.
Battery drain pretty random in my case... my watch is also on M1D63G... awful update, hoping for a quick fix but I don't think it will come quickly.
No fix for maybe one year, so..........

To be honest I'm waiting for Sony IFA 2016 which will be on Thursday and I really really REALLY hope they will introduce Sony Smartwatch 4 along with Xperia X Compact so I will be able to throw my hard-earned money right at their faces to buy this stuff
Not certain that Sony like Android Wear ?
I have noticed same thing with my SW3 and i think that is caused by watchface - in my case - watchmaker premium - i have been created my own watchfaces - nixie and flipclock from scratch - and mine SW3 also last about one day per charging. Try to change watchface to stock sony watchface and compare battery drain then - and ofc - let us know if that was the case.
I have a feeling Watchmaker watch faces tend to cause drain, not sure though since it seems a bit random.
I changed my watch face to stock one and the battery is at least somewhat better and lasts day & night.

I use watchmaker and Pujie black and the battery does indeed die faster when I'm on watchmaker. On Pujie I can go up to 1.5 days on a single charge with brightness on auto , gestures and all radios on. Might be a rogue app causing too much drain...maybe revert to stock then install an app a day to see what might be causing the drain?
I have 2 phones, and when I just use the watch not connected to the phone, I get a couple days of life, and the screen does not randomly turn on. I think the android wear app on the phone is causing the problems?

Check out my other thread on testing battery performance but in short excellent. For me I'm seeing an estimated 7 days of battery life. No Heart Rate Monitor, No exercise detection, 5 email addresses. I say estimated because I'm changing settings regularly right now to test various features battery life. Also I charge while I'm in the shower so I expect to get much more than 7 days in reality. But right now I'm seeing the watch loose 1% battery in around 2 hours.
Can't speak for the pebble but compared to prior generations of Gear watches and apple watches this is amazing. Plus it looks great.
P.S. 46mm bluetooth
7 days while charging when at shower? Are you serious? How about 100%to 0 withoyt charging?
