It's a different OS and therefore can't be done. Unfortunately for those switching from an iPhone, it means you have to buy most of the apps you purchased again.

"HTC News" Folder on card - WTF?

Hi All,
Why does a folder called HTC news, c/w with many thumbnail pictures of HTC products keep restoring itself to my datacard, despite me deleting it? I delete, it comes back. I delete it, it comes back.
Do you have this folder on your card? Can you delete it?
It's probably the image directory for the News app/widget. (btw, it's .htcnews on my Desire)

Thanks in advance --

If your contacts are stored in your Google account then just add or to your phone any sync them. If not I suggest backing then up via Google for the future(it really helps). Every time I get a new phone it has everything in less than 5 minutes and I don't have to have the carrier do it or my computer. There are many good apps out there as well of your check Google play. Or your could back your phone up to google drive and download all of your photos and such. If you need texts you can do a Sim card back up. The options are indeed limitless. I hope you enjoy your G3.

As long as you're logged into the same Google account they will download automatically.

Same account but they don't download.. how can i start that manually?
First, did you upload the pics from your previous device? Go into photos and in the upper left hand corner are three horizontal bars. Click on that, then go to settings and make sure back up & sync is on.

Yes if full of photos.. yes sync is up, i see photos but they aren't stored on my device as when i click on my device folders those are empty
Sync only uploads them to photos. it does not DL any. You can download them only one at a time with the Android app by viewing a photo and than tapping the three dots. Otherwise view them from the cloud. On a PC you can create a downloadable zip of whatever ones you want and then copy those to your phone. But they may end up as dups on your phone as it may get confused with the one on your SD card and the one on photos since it didn't originally upload the exact on on the SD card. Complete PITA.

Yeah, it would be a nice option especially if you could mark certain photos in bulk to come down over Wi-Fi. But it is contrary to Google's movement to all cloud based content and devices with non-expandable storage. That said they let you pin music from Google play music so why not the same for photo albums.
Yeah it kind of defeats the purpose of Google Photos cloud storage if you go for trying to download a whole bunch of them to your device. I've restored my 5X once just to start off fresh and it actually felt refreshing not to worry about my locally store pics getting cleared.
I do agree that pinning cloud albums would be nice to do for offline viewing just like Google Play Music.

Syncing and backing up Pixel 2 to Mac

Im just about to get my Pixel 2 xl in the UK mid November and are looking for a piece of software for the Mac that could sync files between the devices, due back up add music podcast to so that there is a back up etc just in case. Any ideas others then Airdroid which will not back up files. Or do I need one or two applications to do specific jobs like back up. Photo transfer etc?

Mac and android sadly don't play well. Apple doesn't support mtp and Google has not updated android file transfer in years. One of the third party apps to access files is commander pro, however it's a paid app. There are also others apps that can backup your data however all of them are paid. If you are willing to pay then commander one is a decent option. You can atleast access your phone like you do in windows.

Some backups can be done by Google. Backups of photos to Google drive. Backups of contacts and phone apps.
Are you creating podcasts or downloading?

I'm a Mac user since 1995 and I've gone all Google and cloud yet still have a Mac. Uploaded all my photos to Google Photos. Uploaded all my music to Google Play Music. And on my Mac I just use Chrome to see/play everything.

PIxel 2 Xl / Folders on PC

I am trying to see all the folders when I plug into the computer. I am only getting a select few, many of the app folders are missing. Looking for whatsapp folder in particular. I have not used the phone yet. Bought it off Ebay it is a Verizon model(using on t-mobile). I have attached a screenshot of the folders that are showing up currently, this is very different then my current phone(Moto X pure)

That's typical unless you're rooted and using a file manager that supports root. Go to Android, data and you'll see a little bit more.
Edit, if it's a Verizon device you want be able to root.
Okay, so I need the google version of the phone ? I don't believe I rooted the moto x pure I have, does it come that way ?

I'm not sure how the Moto comes. But on the PC you'll never see more than what your see in that screen shot with the pixel. You will be able to see more on your device if rooted and using a file manager like root explorer. What are you trying to see?
I'm trying to see WhatsApp folder and photos app folder. Want to move all my WhatsApp content to new phone and I want to keep my folders for pics. I moved the pics in albums to dcim folder but when I open photos app they are all lumped together

Do you use Google to backup your Moto? You should be able to restore your apps and data from there when setting up a new device.

I do not backup to google. Only thing that is is contacts. New device is more or less setup except for those 2 items.
How would I go about making a folder/album for photos while connected to the computer so that I do not have to do it on the phone.
