[Q] [8.4] Lack of sound with speakers working properly. - Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2, 10.1, 8.4 Q&A, Help & Trouble

Guys,
Don't know why or how this happened but from one day to another my tablet has lost the capacity to produce sound for example with music, youtube etc.. But the speakers DO work because when I press the shutter button on camera it makes the kwnown sound, when a notification arrives it sounds it and so forth....
I've changed roms, made factory reset, now I'm back with the stock samsung rom but still can't get sound to work with basically any applicacion.
With headphones there isn't a problem, its just the speakers. So weird.
Any ideas?

I have a feeling the speakers are damaged from water damage or something to that lines, this isn't fixable with software

In-call sound problems

Hey,
I originally had my HTC Desire rooted but recently I reverted back to stock (Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.5_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_159811_signed). Since then, I'm having some problems hearing the other person when I make or receive a call but they can hear me fine. The front speak does work because when I dial a number or listen to music, sound comes out of it. But during a call, I have to switch to loud speaker to hear! I've even rooted the phone again, flashed several different ROMS, reset factory settings, changed to CM7/r2 Hboot and updated the radio to the latest (32.56.00.32U_5.17.05.23) and yet the problem still persists!
Does anyone have any idea what the cause of it maybe and a solution?
Cheers,
Daniel
Well the in-call sounds come out of the front speaker.
On the Desire, all music and sounds come out of the rear speaker, as do phone calls when in loudspeaker mode.
It must be something wrong with your front speaker.

Yeah you're right. It's okay, it's still under warranty. I'll just take it back to the shop! thanks!

[Q] Distorted sound at less than full volume

I've had my DHD since they came out last November and I've had no real issues with it in all that time. However, I've now got a hugely annoying issue with sound where all sound, ringtones, music etc, comes through distorted at max volume where before it was clear. The obvious suggestion is to turn the volume down but even two steps down from max. volume it still happens depending on the sound coming from the speaker. I don't know how else to describe it except perhaps tearing and that doesn't sound very accurate to what is happening.
I don't remember when this first started happening but I'm pretty sure it was a few months ago and I was using a Sense based ROM at the time. The issue got so bad that instead of playing distorted sound in Sense it would just cut out and all sound would stop for what seemed like two or three minutes. Switching to CM7 has prevented it cutting out but the distortion is still there so I don't think it's related to a specific ROM unless it's a volume boost that was done over all ROM builds. As anyone who owns a DHD will know the audio has always been a little on the quiet sound but the level I have the volume at now is below what I'm comfortable with.
Can anyone offer a suggestion on how to fix this audio issue? It's almost to the point now where I'm thinking of going back to stock and sending it in for repairs. Don't make me do that.. you know it's not a fun process.
I'm only replying to this in case anyone has similar issues so they can see my resolution. Unfortunately it's gotten worse, to the point that I lost all sound on all ROMs bar a few squeaks from the speaker. The in-call speaker worked fine and I could make calls with no issue but no notifications, alerts, alarms etc would sound on the external speaker.
I flashed back to stock Gingerbread and I've sent my phone off to HTC, via T-Mobile UK, to be repaired. I'm also hoping they fix the misaligned camera issue too. I'm a little worried because despite trying I could not get S-ON back before I took it in but it's using stock bootloader and an HTC RUU ROM. Anyway, I'm basically saying that it's a bad sign and will have to go in for repairs. Hopefully this will save anyone from wondering in the future if they get the same sort of issue.
I'm having the same problem.. I think.. if you are talking about the speaker that you make the phonecalls with.. not the "external" speaker.. that works fine..
it has a crackling sound with mine.
Sounds like the external speaker is busted. You already send it to repair, probably that's the only solutions.

Galaxy Nexus speaker - no sound

I have a really strange problem - my phones speaker has stopped playing all notification sounds and ringtones, but the earpiece speaker is still functioning fine. I've tried almost everything but it doesn't seem to fix it. I've tried:
-Reflashing the image from Google official
-Flashing a non-official image
-Wiping and flashing the Google image
-Those applications that "force" sound out of the speaker in case a headset is in.
Has anyone here had any similar issues and any success resolving it?

In a call, does loudspeaker work?
I had the opposite problem. My earpiece wouldn't work, but my loudspeaker would. Sent back to where i got it from, they deemed to faulty and sent out a replacement.

Nope - it thinks it is on the loudspeaker but there is just silence. Pity, the warranty has recently run out for me! I might have to crack it open and make sure nothing is loose.

You may need a replacement then as it sounds like you've tried all other attempts, just had a look on ebay and they are fairly cheap anywhere from $10-20 for a replacement speaker.
same thing just happened to my phone. Was playing a game when the sound was cutting in and out. Noticed later that the sound from the speakerphone stopped working completely (i can still use the headpiece or headphones).
Is the speaker/vibration assembly connected by one cable? I assume if the phone still vibrates and the headphone jack works, it's just a problem with the speaker and not some kind of connection problem.
i have this problem. Fix with SoundAbout app.

What did you do?

galaxy s3 i747 in call volume very very low

Since the last two days I have been suffering from a low volume in the internal speaker during calls. The other person's voice is so low that it's almost inaudible. I can hear the caller on speaker though.
Moreover when the answering machine or IVR is on (during a call like if you call a call center and you need to go through the ivr), the volume is better, though not loud as normal but the moment a human starts talking, the volume drops.
I tried testing the hardware by dialing *#0*# and the receiver does emit sufficiently loud sound. So the hardware looks fine.
I also updated my os from 4.3 to 4.4.2 yet no change in the volume of the internal speaker. I also rebooted, reset my phone, still the problem persists.
I'm on a completely stock rom with no modifications or rooting.
Please help.
Sounds like hardware to me, especially if you're full stock. I had the same thing happened before and I swapped the speaker with a spare dead S3 and the problem was fixed. It may sound louder when a machine answers because its not speaking into a mic and background noise doesnt have to be filtered on that end.

Yup I also think it might be a hardware bug, which I'm trying hard to ignore
Btw what do you make of the hardware test that does emit a sufficiently loud sound from the receiver? I dialed *#0*#0 and tested the receiver, which works okay. So I thought it might not be a hardware bug.

Pixel XL - No sound from speakers

Alright guys, I've got a problem I haven't quite dealt with before:
I've got no sound coming from my "external" phone speakers. The in-ear speaker works fine, and so does the mic. That means I can take phone calls just fine. Listening to Whatsapp voice messages is a challenge because Whatsapp uses the speakers which means the message plays with no sound, that is until I hold the phone to my face and the prox switch tells the app to play through the ear speaker. No YouTube videos or Snapchat sounds.
I looked around the forums and such but didn't find anything. I've checked all the system settings I know to check, but nothing I can find is "muting" the sound. My apps list is fairly standard. Stock rom and kernel, unlocked since day 1 but without even a recovery installed. Basically a factory phone.
What are you guys thinking? I'm happy to try basically anything. Even thinking of slapping a ROM into this beast to see what happens, although I doubt there's too much development going on for a 2yo phone...
Cheers!
Update:
I've got intermittent sound. I haven't opened the phone and have no reason to think water ingress could be the problem, but I can't think of a reason that the speakers would work intermittently. Sounds more like a hardware problem than a software problem to me. Anyone else?
It also happened to me except I didn't have any sound coming from both speaker and the earpiece. Not sure what happened though.

Well it only has one speaker. As for the others most likely hardware related.

Weirdly, I'm stuck in unreliable-sound limbo. I get sound most of the time, but speaker sound disappears occasionally with no predictability that I've found. Interestingly, If I mash or smack the bottom of the phone phone screen by the speakers, sometimes sound will come back on briefly or entirely. Weird, huh? Not sure what could be causing a connection problem. Maybe I'll open up the phone eventually and find out.
