Head unit recommendations - 1024x600, 2gb ram, physical buttons - MTCB Android Head Units Q&A

I want to find a good head unit with following specifications:
Resolution: 1024x600
RAM: 2GB or more,
Physical volume, next/prev buttons (as my wheel does not have media keys)
DVD
SD Card support - at least 64GB
Are there any good, tested units with these specifications?

There are plenty, the universal 2din unit at carjoying.com should work

All units I saw on carjoying are actually 1GB RAM. I've had experience with Android smartphone with 1GB RAM and don't really want to have same experience with head unit.

Whoops yeah all the MTCB style ones have 1GB ram.
The only other option would be a newsmy unit which is completely different software wise

16GB Model vs 32GB Model

Hello, I just wanted to ask a simple question.
I'm debating between buying a 16GB model or a 32GB model, the European version, that is.
Since the difference is not only in storage, but also in available memory (2GB/16GB vs 3GB/32GB) I wanted to know if there was any noticeable difference in performance between those two, something that should make me think of getting the more powerful version.
Aside from that, a minor question that I probably have answered already: do both versions come with QI wireless charging onboard? Or it's just a 32gb feature? As far as I know, they both come with that feature built-in, but I just want to make sure.
Thanks for all the future replies.
I can not inform you about the performance differences between the 16 aand 32GB versions.
Owning a 16GB EU (NL) G3, however, I can confirm that at least my EU 16 GB model has a QI interface on board.
No complaints on performace here btw...
If a gamer, the biggest issue is when L hits, ART requires 25% more storage and 1gb more free than Dalvik. That is a huge storage hit and functionally turns the 16gb into a 12gb model.
When L releases, 16gb devices are near futile for anybody that plays games on their device beyond card type games.

I seriously wouldn't recommended this phone for games. You are better of with something like the One plus one.
But back OT this question has been asked a number of times. Just do a search.

Could be that the device isn't true 64-bit (an issue which has come up before), and available memory is hitting the 3GB ceiling (happens with Intel-based 32-bit PC's as well, with the ceiling ranging from 3GB to 3.5GB). CPU-Z is just showing a more accurate picture of total RAM (once some overhead is taken out).
More likely, could also be the way settings displays it, for that firmware version. If you are using different firmwares, the readings can be different.
Also, if your friend bought from Amazon as well, and the battery version is different (eg., mine is Z2C3), it could have been a different batch of phones, yet same model (e.g. different seller on Amazon). in that case, it's inconsequential.
What is your phone model number? Mine reads ASUS_Z00AD (I have the 2GB model).
3904mb is near of 4gb.
You hardly (or can't) find a phone that give you exactly RAM amount in spec.
Always below 100-200mb for GPU mem or something.

Nope, just making sure you didn't have the Laser.
Z00A(D) is made up of several variants, varying in CPU Speed (1.8Ghz/2.3Ghz), RAM (2GB/3GB/4GB), and storage (16GB/32GB/64GB, I hear that 128GB also exists).
Based on your CPU-Z (and System settings). you have the 2.3GHz/4GB/64GB model. So enjoy, and don't worry about the settings glitch!

Which is caused by firmware difference or they were looking at a different value in CPU-Z. There is no such thing as RAM manufactured for 3904MB. It's always as powers of 2 (with sometimes a 3 thrown in. e.g. 3072MB - that is 3GB of RAM). The reason you are getting 3904MB and 3GB is because of overhead (e.g GPU). That stuff reserves memory and takes it out of the equation (My old phone has 768MB RAM, but settings always lists 518MB due to hardware and kernel's overhead). Your firmware settings is then glitching and rounding down.
If you use a different firmware version than currently (i.e. same version as your friend), you will get 4GB listed instead. If the situation still concerns you, make sure you are running the latest update.

3gb vs 4gb

I'm thinking of buying the 5s but do we really need 4gb? Will it be slow on 3gb over 2-3 years?
Good question. I personally went with 3 because it was cheaper and I normally only have my browser, facebook, facebook messenger, and another app opened. I tend to close everything else.
i think 3gb is enough.
I think I'll go for the 3gb as the pixel phones will be expensive. Would have gone to 4gb if rumoured specs were real i.e 3495 mah battery and OIS. Very strange that they didn't include OIS with such a good camera.
I'll go for 4gb, cause that one includes touch sensitive screen, ie how hard you press the screen

You can't put OIS on that big sensor my friend.

saw that the nougat firmware has pressure sensitive features hidden under the hood. pressure sensitive screen might be useful in the future
i'm using xiaomi mi5s 4gb model
it has 4gb ram, but system uses 1.7gb, so we can use only 2.3gb
in 3gb, it will 1.3gb
I would recommend 4GB cause when I am running lots of apps on my Mi 5 3gb (has same ram type), it can slow down and run out of ram.

MTCE Px5 4 gb ram android 6

I have an xtrons pb9690 mtce px5 with 4 gb ram 9 " and is different from the previous px5 2gb ram.
Different type of bluetooth ( not md725), differentconnections for gps, antenna, usb ecc. and even different software but android 6. I bought this instead the same unit with oreo for the root possibility.
It is possible to use standard android 6 upgrades and gs mcu

PX5 (8.0/Octa/4GB) vs PX3 (7.1.2/Quad/2GB) Head Units - Advise needed

I am in search of replacing my current head unit (in my Mercedes w164) with an android one but I am totally confused with all those chinese makers because they don't provide the MCU version/Kernel version and Build Number therefore not easy to identify and do a proper search for problems and available ROM's
Currently i am focusing on 2 devices - specific for my vehicle - PX5 vs PX3 with the following HW specifications:
Octa Core PX5 CPU + DDR3 4GB Flash + 32GB Memory
Android version claimed by the retailer is Android 8.0
Quad Core PX3 + 2GB + 32GB Memory
Android version claimed by the retailer is ANDROID 7.1.2
My questions :
Which one is better in terms of ROM support and performance ?
Is Android 8 available for those devices ?
4GB of memory is fairly new. Is it possible and if yes is it worth it ?
Mic and Bluetooth issues mentioned in several threads have been solved ? I am interesting only on pairing my phone and make calls.
Do i need a noise filter ?
DO they work with factory fitted GPS receivers ? (The sellers say no)
The price difference is not huge and is not a factor for my choice.
Just in case here are the links for the ones i am interested for :
Dicola (probably a retailer)
Android 8.0 - Octa Core PX5 CPU + DDR3 4GB Flash + 32GB Memory + 1024*600 HD Screen
Link here
ActeryX (probably a retailer)
ANDROID 7.1.2 - Quad Core PX3 + 2GB + 32GB Memory + 1024*600 HD Screen
Link here
Thanks you for your responses and your time
