Q: PHONE ACCEPT / REJECT not working, all other keys OK; software or hardware? - MTCB Android Head Units Q&A

Hello, I have recently discovered the forum and the section dedicated to Android head units; before reading a couple of threads, I used to think my unit was pretty decent, but with some of the mods / apps provided here, it is almost flawless now. Thank you guys for your effort.
I have been using my Pumpkin unit for a while and only recently I installed XposedMTC and CarService, along with RK3066 (which I think was overkill) in an attempt to fix the only issue that was puzzling me: not all of my steering wheel controls would work; I got my NEXT/PREV to work and I can see the keycode in CarService app, but I have 3 other keys that don't seem to be picked up by the unit. These are the PHONE ACCEPT / REJECT buttons and the other once (which is the speech-to-command function).
I'm very new to both the Android head units and the modding that is behind it, so sorry if I don't make sense.
I am having trouble understanding if it is software related, or if the connection in this wires is going outside the CANBUS plug wiring; by this I mean that maybe these 3 keys are sending signals somewhere else? I say this because while upgrading from my stock unit, one of the plugs was left disconnected, as it had no socket to connect to in the new radio.
I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask, sorry for any inconvenience, but if someone went through this and managed to fix it, I'll be thrilled if you let me know how; the unit is from Pumpkin, and the car is a Mazda 3 from 2010.
Thanks in advance.

Bluetooth medai control?

I have tried to pair two different bluetooth media controllers but neither will connect. I see them as available in the devices list but when I click connect nothing happens. I assume if I can see them in the list even the funky bt setup on this thing can use it or is that not correct?
I have a joying UQ124 its the no cd quad core version if it helps
Have you read this?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/and...head-units-qa/bluetooth-media-remote-t3283162
I did but was hoping someone had better results. Also, I was confused about the person who said they resolved an issue by using and xposed module. I didn't find any module that looks related to bt in a relevant way and was not sure if they were even having the same problem.
I guess I just want to know if this is even possable with this headunit or if I should keep looking for a solution.

I'm not sure exactly what you're trying to do with your specific bluetooth controllers, but if you are unable to get them to work as intended, consider the back-lit version of the Lenovo N5902 or something similar for multimedia control of your JY unit. The N5902 works well as a multimedia remote for Android or Windows home theater multimedia systems as well as Android head units. All you'll need is an open usb port for the small wireless dongle and you'll be good to go.

Ideally I would like to use something like
amazon /iSimple-Portable-Wireless-Smartphones-Bluetooth/dp/B00KPZN5UC/ref=pd_sim_107_2?ie=UTF8&dpID=411ue0yFG3L&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL160_SR160%2C160_&refRID=0QC6Y0SC8ZEF13W3638N
So I can have the controlls on the wheel, but I guess my underlying question is will the unit work with bt devices besides a phone and obd.

I have installed an Axxess RFASWC Universal RF Steering Wheel Control, Once the receiver is set to radio type 11 connect the two wires to Key1, and key2 every button except the one on the back can be mapped.
Currently trying to find a usb or Bluetooth media control for android that connects to this HU but so far not been successful.

I may go that route, it looks a little clunky and not super well designed especially for over a hundred bucks, but may be me best option.

I have to admit the Axxess RFASWC has worked out well for what it is, however I am currently waiting for a BMW I-Drive and an Arduino Leonardo board with in built CAN BUS to arrive.
Planning to write some software to convert the CAN BUS messages from the I-Drive into USB HID Remote commands.

Please note that I've only installed one of these units on a Joying JY-UQ124, and 6 out of the 7 buttons work correctly. The lower right call button does not register any signal in the JY SWC settings, so I'm guessing the button is defective. That stated, it's been about two weeks since requesting help from the ebay seller, and I'm still waiting for a reply on this specific inoperative button issue. Hopefully, the delayed reply is only due to the long Chinese New Year holiday.

Will the iDrive work in other cars? If so if you make that code you may just be my hero. Something like that is exactly what I origonally wanted.

I went ahead and ordered one of these because for the price I think it will do really close to everything I want. I will let you know if my button works in case it is just a design problem, save you trouble dealing with vendor. Of course, it may take a month to get here =/

Totally possible, infact the bluetooth version has been done already http://www.volcano.at/iDrive/
The iDrive controller and arduino arrived earlier today and only played around with then for half an hour making sure they were working, so far managed to receive lots of CAN BUS raw data.
I have also downloaded a shed load of BMW CAN BUS codes that I have yet to go through, but my initial thought is to try sending the code to impersonate turning the lights on to see which set turns on the key backlights.
Once i have more time I will get a better understanding about how the CAN BUS side of things work, and hopefully do what I want to do.
Just thought I would do a quick update on getting the BMW IDrive working with the Head Unit.
most things that i want it to do works, but the rotary part of the control, for some reason I cant get that to initialise and start sending messages when twisted.
Whats working..
Stick press -> Play/Pause
Stick left/right -> prev/next track
Stick up/down -> vol up/down
Menu -> home
Back -> back
Media -> sends shortcut keypress that starts amazon music
Radio -> sends shortcut keypress that starts the radio
Tel -> sends shortcut keypress that starts bluetooth
Nav -> sends shortcut keypress that starts Here nav
Option -> i keep a record of the last shortcut and it starts the next in line (Amazon Music>Radio>Bluetooth>nav)
What i need to do..
Enable long press for left/right -> fastforward/rewind
Enable long press for up/down -> continuous volume up and down until i release it.
and the damn rotary control lol.
adding a sensor that detects the brightness of my dash lights and alters the controller led brightness, at present i just have it set to 50% brightness all the time.

Yes, very nice implementation by hobbytronics, the HU thinks it is connected with both a USB HID Keyboard, and a USB HID Remote.
USB Keyboard starts the default apps i have setup with https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.apedroid.hwkeyboardhelper&hl=en and takes care of HOME (Menu), BACK (Back), and Switching between recent apps with the option button.
USB Remote takes care of Pev, Next, Play/Pause, Volume, etc..
Once i have it all working I will post the code up here.

Can you give me the wiring that you used on your Joying? I ordered one and the box came with Chinese instructions. While the seller attempted to send me an english doc, so far the attempts have resulted in documents that have been too small to be useful.

I honestly dont remember. I stripped the wires on the stereo and on the remote receiver and was just going to try it one way and if it didnt work, try it the other. It ended up working the first way so I put connectors on the end to make the connection permanent and called it a day. I doubt it would hurt if you had it backwards.
[edit] Obviously red is 12v and black is ground. I used the google translate app to translate the directions, they gave me some info. It uses your phone camera to translate written language.

[PX3] Peugeot 407 - Factory parking sensors - steering wheel buttons

Hello All,
From few days I'm owner of PX3 device for my Peugeot 407. I've go two issues which I'cant solve. I'm using original ROM
Factory parking sensor
It doesn't work with delivered CAN Bus (BAGOO PSA-BG-02 SW: V002)
In product description is information that should be supported, but it doesn't.
On aliexpress comments I've found the tip that I should cut the pink cable to make it working again. Anyway it doesn't work. I've also try to disconnect each single cable from CAN Bus but it doesn't help as well.
Did anyone have a similar problem and resolve it ? On you tube I've found the information that additional CAN Bus interface should help, but maybe is the different solution ?
- Can I check somehow if any parking sensor signal are received by head unit ?
- Maybe I've got old version of CAN Bus ?
- Any others ideas ?
Buttons on steering wheel
In my device only buttons volume up / down work fine, others not. I'm not able to map them with the mapping apps (delivered with the device and from play shop)
Any way I can notice the reaction when I press them.
For example. When I wan't to find next station on radio. I need to press voice command button and then it works only one, then I need to press first button again.
I was wondering if the customize ROM e.g. by Malaysk can help with this issues ? Or is not the case ?
Thanks for your answers in advance.
same problem
Hello,
I have the same problem. I think it's a problem with the can-bus decoder. Have you been able to solve it?

Hi Diablo3177,
Not at all . I've installed Malaysk ROM, updated MCU and it hasn't help.
I alslo guess that is all about can-bus adapter. I will probably give up and istall extra parking sensor and remote on the steering wheel. It should work
Anyway please let me know if you find working solution.
I believe is possible:
https://youtu.be/lj3n35pUvhg
I've tried to contact with the guy from video, but he hasn't answer.
Hi,
Have you maybe resolve this problem? I have this two problems allso...
I have contacted the guy of the video. He gave me a update for my headunit and told me that the bagoo won't work in our car.
He is going to send me another canbus adapter. He lives in Turkey and I live in the Netherlands so it can take a while before I let you know if it works.
Frans
And that was the problem. The Bagoo is the wrong Canbus converter. I bought the one from the guy in Turkey and now everything works like expected.
Hi Frazzy,
Can you show your new canbus (photos and where we can buy) and share the update firmware?
This is the one I have now.
I bought it from him in turkey but its 25 euro shipping and 30 Euro money transfer. So I would look further if you are not desperate.
The update is specific to my head unit I think and it does nothing without the canbus adapter.
Thank for the replay. In the photo we cannot see all model number and software version.
But, now your Peugeot 407 original parking sensors, AC, Buttons on steering wheel, ... work well?
And the vehicle information, link "open doors", seatblets, lighs that don't work, errors, ... are all displayed?

Everything works perfect. Also doors opening and closing is instant now and not laggy. all the buttons on the stearing column work to. I haven't found anything that isn't working yet.

Temperature's ar in Celsius. You can count the wires in the first image. The black and white one are going to the external backup buzzer.

Do some of you have an issue with the speaker for the parking sensors? Mine is on very low volume and I don't know how to increase it
Hi Guys,
Has anyone found the shop when the working cunbus may be bought ? I've found some on aliexpess (some on photos look very simiar for the Frazzy's one). However, all sellers wrote me back that it can't be sold separately. Only with the central unit from their store :/

You posted 2 pictures with 2 different CANBUS decoders. On the first one it says For: Peugeot 20X(something) it's not readable but most probably is for 207.
The second picture says For Peugeot 407. Which one is working?
I also found a website (google RoadNavi i can't put external links yet) where these canbus adapters can be ordered separately, but i really need to know what model to order.
I also have the Bagoo canbus adapter and it won't take AC commands, stering wheels, passengers side input any many others ... it also broke my right Air flaps and had to service the car and dismount the whole dashboard. I fixed everything and mounted the original audio unit back untill i will find a fix for this problem.
You are the only one paying attention
The second one is the correct one.

if I buy this unit for my 407 Year 2009 vvv. ebay . c om/itm/112926331486?ul_noapp=true
will I get right can bus decoder or I will need to buy that one from Turkish guy for all stuff working (A/C control, front/rear park assist, board/trip computer, settings of car, steering wheel controls... ) ?
Thanks for help
L
I really don't know. I'm no expert in this stuff. I just found the guy with the working canbus adapter.
If you are getting a bagoo than it won't work.
By the way, on AliExpress they have px5's as well.

As I know, it's a lucky to buy with the correct can-bus decoder. All canbus sell with this units work with the basic functions of the 407, but the new versions also have resolve the problems with AC, steering keys, parking sensors, ...
Maybe you can contact the seller and ask for the version of canbus decoder or share with him the photo of this working decoder...

Since a month ago, I´m trying to resolve my problem. Only 50% buttons swc are working:
My android radio has canbus box. I have accessed and configured canbus in "factory settings tap" but my problem continue ( by default canbus wasn´t configured ).
The app to remap the buttons does not detect any button on the steering wheel, it only shows "Reset" and "Save" but I can not do anything with it.
I have reading a lot of post... Is possible that I need to connect wire Key1 and wire Key2? How should I connect "key1" and "key2"? Could it be the solution?
Any kind of help is welcome. Thank you very much

Check that allí connectors from/to canbus and to the headunit are well connected (sometimes they require some force press to really be plugged)
On the link you provided there is a guy that commented that everything worked as expected including the SWC so....if you can't fix it contact your seller for support

On some cases "non standard hard coded manufacturer swc" have funny responses; in my case Voice command button open the app carousel in my HU and the Open/close a phone call button activate the Mute function.
Check you Alfa Romeo Use and Maintenance Guide and Blue&Me User manual thaere was all the info provided by me.

On 2nd photo: The buttons were working with my original radio. I could change the memorized radio programs. I've seen in some YouTube video, how this function is still operational with the android radio car and I would like use its.
Thank you very much for your help

Try long pressing the ones for "skip tracks/seek radio stations". My units acts like this. Try also all "Alfa Romes" canbus entries on Factory Settings

On 1st photo the 3 "red" buttons are only working with the "original" factory installed "blue&Me" equipment, no other hardware can use or decode them.
On 2nd photo the 2 "red" button are only working with the original factory installed "blue&Me" equipment ad use to switch information on Factory Magneti Marelli multimedia/navigation unit during calls, with standard "simply" Alfa Romeo car stereo they are only working on charging disc from official CD Charger; no other hardware can use or decode them.
So the other SWC are working like expected!

I dont think it will make any difference, there is a way that MTCDTools can remap SWC on cars with CAN Bus, @ikerg can tell you how to do it or what thread its in.

Found said posts and they were for car which communicate with resistive signals via canbus (or something ), so wiring the canbus from car harness directly to key1/2 gives access to the buttons.
If Alfa uses no resistive signals, you wont get away with this.
GM cars like mine have the buttons via hardcoded addresses via canbus and you can only try to find those codes in android or mod MCU profile it seems... too nub to do so in my case.. trying hard

Theyre not the posts I was talking about - pretty certain theres a way to programme CAN Bus SWC.
Alfa 159s have CAN Bus SWC.
I've had a similar problem with my Alfa 159 when I installed a PX3 unit. However, for me all the SWC buttons except the centre button on the left set work (i.e. pic 1) and only the left and right SWC buttons on the right set (i.e. pic 2). It is weird as the buttons that do not work mimic the other buttons for some reason so it's like crossing of signals or decoding it wrong.
As I didn't find anyone else having a problem I assumed it was either the CAN bus decoder (I opened it up and flipped switch 4 which helped I think but maybe it isn't suitable?) or the connection behind the steering wheel is loose. I haven't got round to checking the connection (apparently it's simple to open) as I can still control most things.
BTW, my car had the blue&me installed from factory.
SWC on Alfa Romeo 159
H all, I just installed a new Android head unit in my Alfa Romeo 159 SW (2006) and all the SWC's work and I can map them from the app. Below I will explain how I did it, hope this will help.
My head unit:
Xtrons TE706PL
PX 5 octacore 4GB 32BG Android 8
My car:
Alfa Romeo 159 SW
Upgraded from original radio (so not the navigation unit)
My car did not have Blue&Me
Required hardware:
Dedicated CANBUS adapter
Connect2 (company that make it) CTSAR002.2 (product number)
Patch lead to go with canbus adapter
Connect2 (company that make it) CTMULTILEAD.2 (product number)
I ordered both from Amazon Germany from seller NIQ. The patch lead was included with the CANBUS adapter, just make sure to select the correct one meant for Chinese head units. Price was 60 euros.
Installation
The CANBUS adapter is connected between the original car connections and the head unit. This looks confusing at first (it has connections on three sides), but in the end everything only fits one way. On one side connect the patch lead, on the other side it is connected to the head unit and on the last side it is connected to the original car plugs. All these connections are very simple with plugs that only fit one way. (I did need quite some force to push in the 2 of the 3 original plugs into the CANBUS adapter)
As mentioned, the patch lead is connected to the CANBUS adapter on one side. On the other side you need to connect it to the KEY 1, KEY 2 and GROUND wire coming from the head unit. This was the only connection that is not made with plugs, so either crimp them together (which I did, very simple, but you need a crimping tool), solder them, or make another good wire to wire connection.
Important notes:
The connection need to be made in a specific order!
First connect KEY 1, KEY 2 and GRND wires
Second connect the CANBUS adapter to the head unit
Last step is to connect the CANBUS adapter to the car connections
My car did not have Blue&Me, so I don't know if this changes anything. I think I read somewhere you can just leave it in the car and not connect it. But maybe do a little research.
All this is also specified in the manuals provided with the products. Connects2 has some nice youtube videos on the CANBUS adapters, just google them.
I did quite some research myself before I figured it out, but now all is installed and working perfectly! I reprogrammed all the keys to my own preferences, including google assistant speech activation button.
Hope this helps!

Thanks for the info, but what unit do you have ? - "TE706PL" is a made up name, your MCU will tell us what unit it is, I m guessing a GS ?

Sorry, I was not near my car, so couldn't find my MCU version. But here it is:

I have a PX5 and have the same issue.
I see people talking about their chinesses mtcd/e read all the can protocols (open doors, all the swc, radio info to main pannel...)
Talking to my seller, he told me that may be the can decoder. Offers me a refund but I want one that works 100%.
¿Someone have the full functional decoder?

More likely that its just not supported, some cars have even less support.

That's what Im trying to find, a canbus decoder with more options.
I had the alfa 159 android 5.1 unit and It shows temperature, doors and full keys function. I upgraded to a new unit android 7.1 and now I haven't temperature, doors and only half of keys are working.

PX5- steering wheel control issue & reverse camera blinking

Hello everyone,
I have a Dasaita PX5 and Android 8.0 for my Jeep Compass 2018. Problem is that (1) steering wheel controls have stopped working. Used to work for a while when the unit was first installed then one day just ceased to function. And (2) reverse camera video is blinking after driving for around 20-30 mins (doesn’t blink when engine is on and not running)
I've updated both the MCU (V3.45) and system update (20190731) to the latest ones in hopes of fixing it. I also went to factory settings and tried all canbus that had "Jeep" on it and selected the right model of the car but SWC still not working including the controls at the back of the steering wheel. The only thing that's working is the right side of the steering wheel which is the cruise control function.
I had an auto electrician check it and said “there's no problem with electrical side“ and now he's saying maybe the switches are broken (which I doubt) cos when the car battery was changed not long ago (SWC already not working this time), SWC came back to life but only for short period of time.
Please help me figure this out. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
PS: also posted on android head unit thread. I wasn’t sure if I was posting in the right one. Thanks!
I'd try to disconnect the car battery for some minutes and see if the steering wheel controls return to work at least for some time.
If so, the head unit canbus adapter might be faulty,
I'd say there's a loose connection in the power feed of the CANbus decoder. More likely the ground wire is the problem. It could be loose or broken at either ends (including inside the decoder box) or along the length. Your electrician should know how to test for that.
Thanks for the reply guys. I’ll check this out and inform my electrician. Do you think the camera issue is related to this as well? I might need to order a new canbus adapter..
The HU gets the transmission is in reverse signal from the CANbus box so if the box kicks in and out so will the backup camera.
I put back the factory unit back in (factory unit worked without issues) but the steering wheel buttons still didn't work. Does this mean that the problem lies in the steering wheel buttons and not in the CANbus decoder?

Help needed with understanding Xtrons HU navigation features

I recently installed a Xtrons PQS90MTVL head unit in a skoda superb. I have a couple of questions on how to get it to work correctly when navigating.
1) It seems that you can set the navigation sounds to be a percentage of the radio volume but cannot set it to play at a given volume regardless. The problem is that the radio seems to be constantly on and there is no way to turn it off. The 'on/off' button simply mutes the radio - and the navigation sounds.
Often I am in an area where I cannot pick up a decent radio signal on the programme I want and just get static. In these situations I want to turn the radio off but still hear navigation sounds. I don't want to listen to loud static just so I can have the nav sounds play at a percentage of that static. Is there a way to turn the radio off but still get navigation sounds? (a workaround I have found is to play a media file instead of the radio and then pause playback. The nav sounds are then still a percentage of the - non existent - playback volume. However this should not be necessary)
2) It also seems that a Internet connection is needed for any navigation. even google maps won't do a search without it as it says I am offline. (is this true?)
I have bought the 4G wifi dongle but have a question about its use. Does the HU connect to the dongle, as far as data is concerned, via the USB socket that comes out of the back of the unit or is that socket simply powering the dongle and the HUI is actually connecting to it over wifi using the dongle as a hotspot? If so then I don't have to use the wired usb socket from the unit (which I suspect is underpowered) and can plug the dongle into an ordinary 2A USB socket that I have in the car, positioning the dongle near the roof for a better signal
Incidentally I did try using Android Auto with my phone using wired connection. That seems sort of OK but is not very reliable. Often when starting the car it hangs at the 'connected' screen, or even at the 'trying to connect' screen, although other times it seems OK
3) There is a small socket on the left hand side of the HU that looks like a slot for a small memory card or a sim card. It is labelled 'GPS'. What is that socket used for? it is not mentioned in the manual as far as I can see. - The manual is generally a bit hand waving though, excitedly telling you what you can do but not how to do it.
(I did try the xtrons forum but not only are the last posts there around January 2022 but there seems to be no way to register for it. Hence posting here)

All I know is the model is Xtrons PQS90MTVL so maybe its MTVL (whatever that is) I'm afraid I don't know what mcu means so cannot offer any version for it. Its possible I have posted this in the wrong section and have rep[osted in 'Android Head-Units'. If that is the right place and this is the wrong place, please can you delete this post
