[Q] Harness interchangability? - MTCB Android Head Units Q&A

Just wondering here, but do the harnesses on these interchange? I mean the part that has the speakers, power, etc.

I don't think there's any promise of the harnesses being the same. I have two different KLD units, and the harnesses are the same, but I doubt they are the same across manufacturers.

Not across manufacturers. You'll blow a fuse.

Replacement wiring harness?

Hi
Does anyone know if its possible to get a replacement wire harness for one of these units anywhere. When mine was fitted I butchered mine to use a 3rd party swc unit I'd like to see use the supplied one now.
I realise the harnesses will be different across manufacturers and don't remember which mine was. I don't want to pull the unit out to see if harnesses aren't available anyway.
Any help much appreciated.
You need to know the manufacturer of your HU, and so which harness do you have to buy...
For example, here you can find Joying harness as spare parts: https://www.carjoying.com/joying-harness.html

is there reasonable radio reception on new units with integrated twin fakra connector

Hello,
as i crashed my old pumpkin head unit, i am looking for a new one, for my Audi A4
(my current model is out of stock)
I consider ordering this one now:
http://www.erisinwholesale.com/special-car-dvd/audi/erisin-es3078a-7-android-51-car-dvd-gps-dab-for-audi-a4-497.html
This one has already the Audi/VW main-connector right at the radio, also a twin fakra connector and even an integrated CAN-modul. So there will be way less wiring spaghetti behind the unit, which seems really nice to me.
But i am a bit afraid, that the radio reception could be bad...
I don´t really trust this ex China-factory twin Fakra connector there. Usually one had to use a external powered antenna boost-adapter for those android head units. And even with those boost-adapters, the reception was never as good, as with the original radio. Because no adapter could replace the twin-receiver diversity function of the original VW/Audi radios.
Sooo....
With this new unit, i would have to directly connect my antennas... without any adapters or boosters...
Has anyone an idea if this really works well on those new units??
I don´t think those new units have two receivers installed?! Or do they?
Is this twin fakra adapter at least powered?
I hope someone has already played with a similar unit and can give some comments..
thanks!
In theory it should be better with a port for the diversity antenna as well. At the end of the day this is the main reason why the original radio has better reception.
I've got the Erisin ES3015V which I suspect is similar (it has the same VW-specific connections). I have never owned any other android head unit, so I can't compare the radio reception, but I can tell you that it's not as good as the original radio. My guess is it's somewhere in between.
Hi,
Thanks!
Yes, your ES3015V should be pretty much the same, just with a different front cover. I have ordered this ES3078A now anyhow... Hope for the best...
Do you know, is this Twin-Fakra Connector at least powered? (12V) or do we need to add something here on our own?
Are you satisfied with the rear speaker volume?
This is also something, i had to modify on my first head unit.

Sorry, don't know if it's powered or not, but I'd be very interested in hearing about your findings .I haven't noticed the sound from the rear speakers being too low, but then again, sound quality overall isn't exactly brilliant. I've been thinking about adding a powered subwoofer, but I've read a lot of stuff on here about these units being underpowered on the RCA outputs, so I'm not sure if it'll be worth it.

Vehicle specific or double din w/ adapter?

I've been lurking around here for about a month now, just trying to figure out what would work best. I came across Android head units and this forum while searching for something with built-in offline GPS navigation and is compatible with Apple CarPlay but I've now become intrigued by installing apps to the head unit itself.
I'm pretty familiar with Android but head units running Android are quite new to me and I'm frankly a bit overwhelmed. I'm happy to do more reading here and elsewhere, but I have to say I find it very difficult to get much out of the massive threads. I've appreciated the Hui Fei wiki posts but I still feel like there's a bunch I don't know, specifically the pros and cons of the different types of units and where to buy them.
So from what I've been able to find, the best option right now, especially if I want to do any sort of customizing or upgrading down the road (rooting and swapping out processor boards) is to get an MTCE unit, so that's what I've been looking for. I believe the ideal unit is:
Android 8.0+
Octa-Core PX5 (I'm not sure I'm patient enough to wait for the PX6 to actually arrive in units)
2GB+ RAM (preferably 4GB)
32GB+ Storage
IPS Display
Steering wheel control support
I have a 7th Gen Honda Accord (2005) with dual zone automatic climate control. That feature in particular makes it a little more difficult to replace the stock head unit because the climate controls are integrated into it. My options are to get a aftermarket unit that has climate controls built in or to get a dash kit (like the Metra 99-7803) that handles the climate control and just has a double din slot.
My hesitation with a vehicle specific unit is that they seem to be poorly supported, and I can't find a decent US based reseller (I'm not very comfortable with the support and return policies of the sellers on AliExpress I've found so far). Also, it seems to be difficult to find out if a unit is actually a MTCD/E unit before buying it. The downside of a dash kit is that they basically add another $200-$300, the units have smaller displays or stick out a ways from the dash, and they don't look nearly as good.
Are there any limitations of vehicle specific units or generic units that I should be aware of? What would you recommend?

Avin or Dynavin Sounds Quality

I recently purchased a 2005 CDI and I gotta say I love this car. The COMAND is solid but definitely outdated. I started looking around for drop-in head units and found the 2 big players Avin and Dynavin for the W211. No looking at older posts (2018 and before) i hear a lot of people beating up on the units because they are Chinese made. But present-day it seems like there have been strides and upgrades in chips that are being used. So I'm wondering is there really going to be a noticeable sound difference between a Bluetooth-connected 3.5 mm adapter going through the command and a properly tuned Avin or Dynavin unit going through a MOST adapter to a factory amp and speakers? Looking at XDA it seems like the chips used in the AVIN is TDA7851F (I am waiting on confirmation on this from AVIN). The TDA7851 is actually the same as a pioneer chip (https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/a...2171s.3891089/). The Dynavin is a burr-brown (or Texas Instrument chipset) now I'm not sure how plays with the most adapter. But in the end, it seems like the hardware is there for improved sounds. Does anyone on here have objective data to swing the conversation one way or another?
The other question is longevity, I've heard the Dynavin units generally have generally received pretty decent reviews and have pretty decent support. I have not heard anything from long-term owners of the Avin. If there are any on here have your units functioned long term?

Pinout needed for a Roadrover Windows CE 6 I-9 Model (in Config.ini) LC1X (assuming due to config.ini that it's for a Nisson X-trail)

I recently picked up a new (for us) radio with built-in GPS and DVD/CD (and other extras). The model (LC1X) has three rectangular sockets on back... one that came with a wiring cable for a Nisson, a rectangular one (20 pin), containing audio in L and R, Video in and out, and a couple of others. There is supposed to be a cable for a subwoofer, but it's not on that connector (no labeled sub cable). There are a couple of cables coming out of the back of the radio - one for antenna, the other goes to an 8 pin socket - three pins used, and it looks like they're a ground with two shielded wires. (I haven't scoped them yet to see if there is audio present.)
I have a decent (not massive) subwoofer I'd like to hook to it, but no luck on figuring out what the pinout is for the 20 pin socket. According to what I've found (not much), the radio is supposed to have a subwoofer connection. I found a manual for the I-9/I-10 OS/firmware, but only generic stuff beyond that.
Does anyone have any information that might help? I know it's an old radio, but it's much better than what we had before. I bought the thing from a surplus electronics dealer, but there was no manual for it. I was able to figure out and get it going, except for subwoofer.
Also, is there some way to get Regedit into the radio, so I can make adjustments? I'm not so interested in modding the system, just making a few changes now and then.
Thanks!
Bob
BTW - The two pictures I uploaded - one shows the layout of the back of the radio, the other was the labels on the box. I just haven't had any luck doing searches with the labels.
