Modified Original Stereo EarPhone

hI..
I have modified the original stereo ear phone and the sounds is much better quality than original ear phone.
Just need to invest a good stereo earphone and at the same time u still can use the original stereo earphone functionality... to pick up calls etc.
Can leave my ipod at home now.

How did you modify this?
I would love to modify mine. Please explain .
What do I need in hardware ?

I too have modified headphones. Now I can connect any.

Yeah! Did you open the grey box, or did you "cut and past" the wires after the grey box?

I've opened it its easy. Solder points are so obvious. Like a walk in the park..

I emailed the seller to ask if radio would work and he replied that it would (don't necessarily believe him though).

how to i open the case?

this will not work....the usb is mean for Motorola phone...and for Artemis...u can't plug in the whole usb adapter...

means the seller is lying?

There are 2 types of mini-USB standards I know of. One is the standard motorola one. The other is enhanced mini-USB JUST for HTC devices.
If this guy mentioned a whole list of HTC devices and picture a P3300 with it, I pretty much think that it's the real deal.
If it works for audio, radio shouldn't be a prob

Put your nails between the plasic covers on the sides where the cabels come in and out. It should release pretty easy.

I might work for FM but it looks to me like it would work badly. Since the wire serves as an antenna if the extention extends the antenna length at best you'd only be able to pick up the lowest frequencies.

really? i've never found the length of the antenna caused problems for fm reception, i used to make my own so i could get better pirate radio station reception. I used to get a long piece of electrical wire, attach it to the (broken) aerial on the radio and hang it out of the window - worked every time

That's great! I've had to form a make-shift car radio antenna myself because some lovely person felt the need to break off the one attached. With trial-and-error 2 clothes hangers worked just fine. However antenna lenth is very important in fm reception because fm is a part of the electromagnetic spectrum that arrives in th form of a wave and: wavelength=light speed/frequency. The fm spectrum is 88MHz to 108MHz. As it turns out fm is about 3 meters in length so the optimal antenna to pick that up is 1/4 of the wave or about 75cm.

wow i haven't seen a clothes hangar aerial in ages i'm sure i used to see them all the time!
Anyway, I ordered one of these adapters and will gladly report back the results if the thing ever turns up

It's exactly as described, I can get FM radio, of course you can just plug in the adapter and no headphones to use the loudspeaker.
It also has a mic and a button to answer calls. The L shaped USB input is a great design compared with those sticky outy ones. Plus the length allows me to use my ex71 headphones without the really long attachment. Overall very happy Ordered last Wednesday, got it today.
Now to transfer music to that damn internal microsd
Edit: Evaluator was right, the FM reception has suffered. Though I can still get FM reception in strong areas, it's nowhere near as good as with the supplied headset. Oh well...It's still great for using as an mp3 player.

I have also purchased this little adapter and it works a treat with my Sony earphones. Radio signal is excellent and sound is phenominal compared to the standard headset.
Phone works properly with the call pickup button and the microphone allows your caller to hear you clearly.
A worthwhile purchase for £9.99 inc postage.

Replacement earphones (with radio receiver)

Can anyone recommend any? I would ideally like BT ones but i've read plenty of posts describing issues with sound quality.
I understand the HTC supplied ones are rubbish for music so can someone recommend some for me to pick up? Getting my orbit today!

well if you want ones with the FM antenna you wont be getting BT ones!!

I used to modify the headsets that came with my last phones. I did it with the ones that came with my MDA Compact III as well. Basically I disassembled the microphone unit, disconected the wires from the crappy ones and replaced the in-ear Sony (because of the quality and all "classic ones" just falloff my ears). Everything works perfectly. Radio as well because the modification did not affect the antenna. I understand not everyone is able to play with such stuff but it is not that difficult. I'm sure you can find someone that is familiar with soldering.

Yet to try the "in box" orbit headphones
I am yet to try those in box headphones, to be honest when i saw them, i chucked them back in box and forgot about them. Would be glad of some info on upgrade units available, but would want to retain the fm antenna.

Eonon or Pumpkin?

I'm trying to decide between two identical systems with minor differences;
Eonon will include a slim IR remote (which I would consider useless, except that the reason I need a new head unit is my old one has a bad screen and a remote would have made it usable)
Pumpkin does not have a remote (but still has the IR port) but has a 1024*600 screen as opposed to Eonon's 800*400.
Thoughts on which to choose?
Anyone have a remote they aren't using they want to sell to make the decision easier?

I recently bought an Eonon GA2114 to replace my old AN21U. First impressions:
-good mechanical build
-internal microphone is much better than AN 21U's
-SWC work way better
-very responsive customer support
-different build from what I have seen on this forum. Wanted to do the BT mic mod but gave up - too much disassembling involved
-slightly wider than standard 2DIN, needs fiddling with the dash frame
Had a weird issue with BT: with any KLD ROM (including Eonon official) I was unable to use BT for phone calls. It does work, however, with Joying ROMs

That's the one I'm looking at. Have you used the remote that comes with the unit and, if so, is it even useful?
I'm a bit surprised that this hasn't turned into a thread of people arguing that 1024*600 is so much better and others saying that there's no practical difference between that and 800*400.

Haven't touched the remote, not a fan. Don't really see the utility of a remote for the driver, the screen is very responsive and so are the SWC buttons, finally. On my previous unit SWC controls were erratic ( I believe it happened because of the low priority of the control process). A remote would probably become useful if I had multiple displays in the car and the passengers in the back seat would want to change the movie or similar.
As for the screen, I am really happy with it. I actually ended up with this resolution by mistake, I was also looking for a 1024*600 but got attracted by the bigger screen of this unit and somehow missed the fact that it is 800*480. Don't regret that, 7 inch is really a significant improvement over 6.2.

I have a GA2114 too I'm pretty happy with mine, only issue I have with it is that the Bluetooth calling can sometimes be quite distorted and people can't hear me which I know is a problem with most units, I just havent got round to taking mine apart to modify. Mine seems to be fine sometimes though and people say they can hear me fine.
I had a WinCE Eonon unit before my GA2114 and the reason I went for another Eonon unit was because they were so reliable, had it for about 2 years and didn't have one issue with it.
EDIT: One small issue I forgot to mention was my microSD card slot in the front seems to be quite dodgy, the card doesn't click in properly. I can get it to sit in though by pushing it in then putting the cover back over it to hold it in place.

I have bought Pumpkin head unit with ASIN B016I7C7TK on Amazon.co.uk , which includes an external wireless SWC control and it is very convenient.
It has 7-inch 1024*600 screen and Android 4.4 Quad Core 1.6GHz system.
Really impressed so far with this, for the price its definitely worth it! Had no issues so far and customer service has been very good.

I just installed my ga2114 and love it but also do not have Bluetooth audio working for calls. It works great for regular audio. What rom should I be running to fix it?
Also I notice a slight audio hiss. Did you experience that on your unit? It's not enough to drive me crazy but it's definitely there once the radio boots up. Aside from that, I love it so far.

Avin or Dynavin Sounds Quality

I recently purchased a 2005 CDI and I gotta say I love this car. The COMAND is solid but definitely outdated. I started looking around for drop-in head units and found the 2 big players Avin and Dynavin for the W211. No looking at older posts (2018 and before) i hear a lot of people beating up on the units because they are Chinese made. But present-day it seems like there have been strides and upgrades in chips that are being used. So I'm wondering is there really going to be a noticeable sound difference between a Bluetooth-connected 3.5 mm adapter going through the command and a properly tuned Avin or Dynavin unit going through a MOST adapter to a factory amp and speakers? Looking at XDA it seems like the chips used in the AVIN is TDA7851F (I am waiting on confirmation on this from AVIN). The TDA7851 is actually the same as a pioneer chip (https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/a...2171s.3891089/). The Dynavin is a burr-brown (or Texas Instrument chipset) now I'm not sure how plays with the most adapter. But in the end, it seems like the hardware is there for improved sounds. Does anyone on here have objective data to swing the conversation one way or another?
The other question is longevity, I've heard the Dynavin units generally have generally received pretty decent reviews and have pretty decent support. I have not heard anything from long-term owners of the Avin. If there are any on here have your units functioned long term?

Mercedes ml350 (2006) with Harmon Kardin. All working but Steering wheel and CANBUS connection.

I just purchased a very cheap chinese android head unit from walmart.com (The price seems to have dropped even further, if it's the same one) and have it all installed in my ML350. I purchased, separately, an Optical Decoder box and have it also installed. I'm getting audio just fine (although of course it's just dropped to left and right..lost my full surround) but my steering wheel controls aren't working, nor is the CANBUS seeming to work. It's got a "Oudi" branded canbus decoder (Or at least the box is printed as one).
I don't see any Key1 or Key2, SWC or similar wires. The head unit is advertised as working with Steering wheel controls and canbus functions. From what I've read thus far, it's supposed to be able to communicate with canbus as is. It has 2 very long wires, Can-H and Can-L in addition to the ones that plugged into the harness..I don't think I had to do anything with them but I did see where someoene else having the same type ran them under the glove box to the long caterpillar like connection bar for Can-H and Can-L within the system. That didn't make any difference. I see some harnesses have a 2.5mm stereo jack to plug into the head unit also for steering controls but this doesn't have that etiher. Most seem to say that since the unit has steering learning that it all works through the canbus.
I've checked all pinouts and from what I can tell I've got them all correct. The can l and h were in wrong spots when I got it but got that fixed and at least the stereo is working.
Radio reception is less than spectacular, but it works. The stereo came with the adapter for that. My vehicle of course has that antenna amp on the back hatch under the window..always worked before. Also curious why this signal gets so back with that simple antenna adapter?
Anyhow, I'm overall happy with the unit (a bit slow at times, being a 1Gx16G model bug but handling that)
I've been in communication with the seller who keeps asking for videos, pics, and now wants me to purchase a new canbus at "any parts store" locally to try and they'll reimburse me. I dont' see anywhere that you can buy a canbus decoder anywhere locally.
I have such a hard time finding anyone with the same radio/wiring harness and this vehicle and can't understand why I'm having such issues with the installation SEEMS so simple. Yes I've gone into Protocol Settings in System settings and set to the "oudi" decoder. It only has 2 options. Mercedes-Smart, and Mercedes Fully Compatible. Neither works. It saves, doesn't require restart but I've tried rebooting as well. Even shutting off car when the radio is rebooting and starting it all together again.
Has anyone had any luck like choosing a different CANBUS? Like is it even worth going through them all? Surely the oudi box doesnt' have different hardware inside that might still work, but not be "oudi"?
I check data, etc I just get "no original vehicle setting function"

Did you ask the corresponding sellers about the matched CANBUS when you buy the android head unit? I've also been through this before, I purechased an aftermarket headunit from a Chinese brand called ATOTO, and I purchased their headunit for its affordable price, everything worked great, good connection to my phone, huge 10.1 inch screen display and good sound quality except the SWC interface. I have triple checked the connections and have tried two different Canbus interfaces that I have, and have tried both the key wires and the 3.5mm jack, the SWC interface simply doesn't work.
Then I contacted their support team and they also told me to buy a new canbus, and they told me to search on http://www.metraonline.com and https://pac-audio.com/, finally I got a new canbus and problem solved.

Finally they say that it doesn't communicate with the Mercedes I this model....but ..it literally is custom bezeled for my model..comes with canbus decoder...states in the title of the item on walmart.com as for my particular video and that it keeps original steering wheel button function and all other factory features and canbus connection. So they're just lying to keep from having to send another canbus. Now just telling me to pack it up nicely and ship it back within 24 hours with tracking number to get refund. Heh.ill definitely check out your links tho! Thank you!

I'm sorry for that bro! If the headunit you bought is an universal one then it should be compatible with most of the cars. Good luck and wish you can get this thing fixed soon!

I find a kit (Best Buy has the same one I see, but it'll cost me $400 (at best buy) or over $600 on this site...for a $100 radio..damn..... haha weird thing though is that I don't think I have any SWC wires or 2.5mm jack or anything like that on the radio. Supposedly it worked through the Canbus...but...these kits all have that separate box as well. So....solution$$$ haha Thank you for this site though. It definitely reinforced for me the kit that I'm just gonna have to get. Plus side, I need this kit for ANY stereo I put in. Regardless if Android, no name or brand name standard deck.

Oh.... that's.... well you can also go check eBay, cheaper than most of shopping site, forget about the cheap **** it provides, the kits and hrness there should be cheaper. $400 is too much for a kit... If next time you need to upgrade another headunit, except Pioneer, Kenwood,etc. you can definitely go and try the brand atoto, although it is also a Chinese brand, happy with their serivice for now. Don't give up so soon bro! Try eBay again for the kits, lol.
