Is this something? Marshmallow source code? - Verizon LG G4

I can't post links due to how rarely I post. However, I searched the G4 on LG's open source website and found this:
ht tp:// opensource.lge.com/osSch/list?types=ALL&search=LGvs986
remove the spaces of course.

The source code for 6.0!! When was this posted?

You might want to include what it is in the title of the thread so more people see it.

I Dl'd no problem.
This means we're getting close.

Anything you can do with the source code? Or no because we have no access to the bootloader?

great thing actually,thanks

This can’t be compiled and flashed onto an actual device without an unlocked bootloader, if that’s what you’re asking...

Exactly what I was asking lol. Wonder how much longer the big V will drag their heels with this one... Its right there in front of us and we can't do anything with it. *sigh*

I may be jumping ship to the S7. I like the G4 but Verizon has neutered this phone to the point where I don't want,to deal.

This is sadly why I jumped to the 6P in November. I never realized how nice it was to be able to mod and customize your phone any way you want, and have actual 100% stable stock Android ROMs.

I had the Note 5 after my G4, then got rid of that for the 6P. I'm 100% happy with my choice, I do miss the outstanding G4 camera though.

I had the note 3 and was going to get the newest one but the SD card and removable battery were deal breakers for me. And with Verizon handicapping the g4 I hate it. Only problem is I'm stuck on the stupid edge plan and can't afford to pay off the g4 and buy a 6p outright.

If not for Verizon's coverage I would've left for AT&T long ago. Catch 22

Is this phone definitely getting the marshmallow update or not?

Yes, many countries already have the update.

It will sometime this year, but Verizon in particular is notoriously slow in pushing major Android updates to their customers. There is a good chance big red will be the last major carrier to push it out.

I just signed up for Project Fi and ordered the 6P with 128GB storage. I'm ditching Verizon AND what they did to the great G4. It's a shame, too. It's such an excellent phone, but it's just so... neutered.

Any possibility for a unlocked bootloder in the future?

[Q] Any confirmed Devs sticking around?

I know that how much we can do with any given phone is really up in the air at this point...
However, I am wondering how many people are still interested in this device and will still give it a shot even it requires some fiddling with the boot loaders and what not.
I completely understand if no one wants to dev here but, as someone who really doesn't have the option of nexus-y goodness, I figure it isn't beyond reason that some people will at least try to tinker with this one.
I'm definitely interested and will probably be here in january. Hopefully the bootloader will be unlocked by then. If not, I will try to figure out how to do that.

Awesome.
I won't be able to upgrade till December but, it's not like I have a lot of places to go really in terms of options.
Very encouraging, gentlemen. Would this potential development be compatible with the F180 model? I am currently living in South Korea, waiting for my current phone contract to expire next month and (finally) purchase my first Android device.

Yeah, I will do stuff for all variants if I get one. I can probably make a flashable zip that can detect which device you are on and throw the right files in corresponding to your device.

I was going to get a Nexus 4, but alas since it's gsm only looks like I'll be getting the Optimus G. It'll be a nice upgrade from my heroc. With luck I'll get it on the 11th. First mission will be the bootloader.
I currently maintain cm10 for the heroc, so I have a bit of experience around the block.
Once the bootloader is unlocked, this will basically be the nexus for us Sprint users. Nearly identical specs will make development a breeze.

Not sure, it kinda makes sense though.
im kinda excited about this Android 6. Korean buddies are the 1st lucky guys who already received M 6.0.1 for their S6 2 days ago.
M is reported to have better performance, none (or less) ram leaked, longer battery life and, one of the most importance for me, much faster finger scan response.
I doubt it, its usually 1 month after next iteration of the phone is released (S7)

Lol this post is
How is it "confirmed" if some dumb/clueless rep guesstimated it's release date?? No, just no guy... SMH
Leaked documentation that has been covered at a number of sites (here is the first that I saw http://www.mobipicker.com/galaxy-s6-s6-edge-s6-edge-s5-note5-note-4-android-marshmallow-update/ ) shows that the release will be going out to carriers between February and April, so this isn't that unrealistic. And it has already rolled out in Korea.
The unknown part about this is how long Sprint will take to have this out via OTA. If they are already working on a build and are just waiting for a final update, this could be spot on.
I dont want to wait till march/april...

Does Sprint not do RDF files for their builds anymore? Haven't seen anything for ages and neither OJ7 nor OL1 had one. It was so nice in the past to see them actively working on things that way.
Mid Feb now. =)

I have never understood why it is considered bad form on XDA to rush a developer to get a new ROM out; but the very same people expect Sprint to rush out an update to millions of people across multiple countries.

All rumors, but....
Smaller screen than the LG G4.
No removable battery.
I guess the Magic Slot is a feature, if someone knows what it will really do.

If you are going to get an LG phone, why not a Nexus?

The fundamental difference in your statement is that XDA devs do it on their own time for free. Carriers, not just Sprint, make millions off their customers. So they should be held to a much higher standard. However in my opinion, Sprint, compared to other carriers, has done a good job at keeping updated. I would say no worse than any other carrier. I mean look at the mm update on the Nexus 6. Every carrier got the ota update months before ATT finally put it out. And that was on a Nexus [emoji33]

Not really coming from the 6s Plus i am use to insane speed and battery life, but the lack of jailbreak made me come back to android, i had the v10 before the 6s plus so decided to give the G5 a try especially with those sweet rebates, but seeing as t mobile or lg screw us with the bootloader i said hell let me just grab the v10 before they update to MM and now i am happy fully rooted with tethering and all the goodies, BUT I DO MISS THE SOUND QUALITY OF THE G5 SPEAKER.

Locked Verizon Bootloader?

So i plan on ordering a Pixel XL paying the retail price from Bestbuy since they have them in stock http://www.bestbuy.com/site/google-pixel-xl-4g-lte-with-32gb-memory-cell-phone-slate-verizon/5656050.p?skuId=5656050 but i noticed it says Verizon. Yes, the bootloader will be locked if purchased from Best Buy or Verizon.
its been confirmed from multiple places that Verizons model will have a locked bootloader. so if you care about custom roms or resale value get the model from the google store. There is always a possibility that someone will figure out an unlock for the Verizon model but i wouldnt count on it
It seems it's all speculation. Haven't seen/heard anything fact that it is indeed locked. But knowing how Verizon operates it will be.

As stated multiple times the Verizon nexus 6 was still able to be unlocked, it was identical to the Google store one, just with a Verizon emblem on it.
If it's like the nexus 6 with unlockable bootloader I'll be getting the 128 xl from Verizon and be returning the 32 xl to the Google store. I kinda regret not getting the larger storage. Hopefully we will see the unlockable status for a fact on Thursday.
