xDrip and Dexcom for Diabetes blood sugar monitoring not working on Robin - Nextbit Robin

This post will probably not have many responses as it is not something many use, but I have to post everywhere hoping I will find the answer eventually.
My fiance use a Dexcom G4 with share which is a bluetooth device that monitors her blood sugar levels constantly.
Some people created a great community to create an app that connects to this bluetooth device and can display the data from the Dexcom to your phone. The app is called xDrip. After getting everything connected, you can also create a website with a database that uploads the data and displays it on an azure based website and then you can see a realtime graph of the blood sugar. You can even connect ifttt to it which will enable extra actions for low and high blood sugar warnings.
We had all this working fine on a oneplus 1 running android 5 (lollipop), but since receiving the Robin I have not been able to get it working again. After lots of searching and attempts, I found that the app will find the dexcom when scanning for bluetooth devices, if you first go and enable location permissions (this is needed for android 6.0 marshmallow). I was able to find the dexcom and pair it this way, but then it says disconnected instead of updating with data.
I have posted in the facebook community for the dexcom (CGM in the cloud), hoping someone would be able to help, but so far we have not been able to find a solution.
I do not expect many (if any replies to this) but I have to post this question on every forum hoping someone can help.

Hey, thanks for letting us know. Unfortunately, we don't have a Dexcom G4 unit here to test, but maybe this is a Bluetooth issue.

so it turns out the March OTA update fixed this. It is now working.

Dexcom G4, not 5? That would be great news to me. I had assumed the thing works with a proprietary wireless standard.

Hi everybody,
i just bought a smartwatch 3 and i just don't get how to activate the wifi, i searched everywhere but no information.. even to activate or desactivate nfc to save battery but i cant find th options..

WiFi is not enabled until Google releases a version of Android Wear that supports it.
The same for NFC, it's active but only limited functionality available right now.

This is great news to hear! Can I ask for the source?

You see here WiFi Ready:

Verizon, Technical Specs http://www.verizonwireless.com/accessories/sony-smartwatch-3/ also in "FEATURES" it states "Wi-Fi ready (these features to be activated after launch, timing to be announced per Google)"
...And I posted official test documents in this forum proving it has WiFi
and the wait is almost over!!!
Been a long time in the making but finally:
Wi-Fi support
With GPS and offline music support, you can already leave your phone at home, then go jogging and jamming like normal. Now Android Wear supports watches with built-in Wi-Fi. As long as your watch is connected to a Wi-Fi network, and your phone has a data connection (wherever it is), you’ll be able to get notifications, send messages, and use all your favorite apps. And if you really do forget your phone, you can always ask your watch where it is.

Is the wifi feature properly working? How will I know if the wifi feature is working? does this mean i can turn off bluetooth on my phone and have the smart watch still work?
The latest update to the Wear app now includes the Wi-fi functionality however, I could not get it to work. Has anybody else had any better luck
You still need to receive the Smartwatch upgrade (watch itself)
It should be out in the next couple of days or weeks. Just keep checking the Sony companion app.
Is there a Sony companion app for the SW3? I normally just check under settings on the watch itself.

yeah for windows though
when I first bought my SW3, I received a firmware upgrade notification. I was able to update it thru the watch itself connected to my phone,

I didn't know there was any NFC functionality yet. What is currently usable for NFC?
I think the only thing NFC on the watch can do is open the app on your phone. Apart from that it's useless.
You can use NFC to pair headphones with your watch, I pair my sbh-80 headphones this way
Has anyone received the wifi update yet?

Thanks. I just found on another thread that it also starts up the watch when it's off. I tested it and that works and is pretty cool that NFC works when the watch is off, though I have doubts there will be many possibilities of using NFC with the watch off.
NFC can be somewhat powered by the reading device, so I thought I'd give this a try to see if it was enough to wake the watch up and power on. I turned my watch off, and tapped it to the NFC location on my phone. The phone launched the Android Wear companion app. The watch and phone both vibrated, and the "Sony" logo appeared on the watch then disappeared without ever finishing booting. I tried leaving it on the phone, and it buzzed a few times trying to start.

[Q] New SW3 and a couple Q's

Hi Guys,
Proud owner of a lime green sw3 that I got for Father's Day. I am a school technology teacher, so I am always interested in the latest stuff that's out and wanted one because of the built in GPS, as I am a cyclist and would prefer not to have my phone on me all the time when riding or running. I so have a couple of questions though...silly ones, but because I am new to the android wear platform, I would like advice from you guys, the experts. My phone is an unrooted t-mobile sony xperia z and it connected up perfectly. Questions I have are the following:
How do I enable NFC on the watch in order for the watch and phone to be able to communicate but not have to be near each other? I know this is a new feature as of the latest android wear update, but I really want to take advantage of it.
If my work network has a proxy, is there any way for me to change the proxy settings for my work network on the watch so that it can use my work wireless network or am I out of luck?
How do I get the watch to use the built in navigation on it? Or does it do it automatically when I navigate and the phone is not connected? It seems to only navigate when connected to my phone as of right now.
Strava (cycling gps app) always seems to be trying to turn itself on...What's up with that?
Thanks in advance, and I think that is it for now. Everything else is pretty easy and I love android wear so far. Sorry if I missed any answers when I was searching around here!

Can anyone tell me what BeaconManager does?!

Hi All,
I've been scouring the interwebs for the last week or so trying to find SOME kind of hint as to what the BeaconManager app does on this phone (SM-N920A). The app icon looks A LOT like the "Quick Connect" app which I think allows you to cast media to supported devices (like other Samsung televisions, etc). The only semi-useful results I've found have been that the BeaconManager app (com.samsung.android.beaconmanager - which is installed as a system app and apparently gets updated by the Galaxy App Store) was on the list of "what we think is bloatware so disable it" list. Of course, there are HUNDREDS of other pages that basically just plagiarize this one page and countless threads on this forum where the same list is just copypasta'd with no explanation at all.
So, I turn to you my faithful Note 5 peers who probably know more about these things than I do.....does anyone have an EFFING clue as to what the hell this thing does? My only REAL lead is the app icon, but even then I'm not entirely sure what function this is supposed to serve.....
So, thanks in advance....

Yeah, I found that page also....I don't think it's related...at least, not specifically. I did a bit of an experiment and I'll give you my theory.....
The link you provided is actually about an actual physical beacon retailers can place in their brick & mortar stores....think a mall or a department store....so that when your device gets close to it (proximity), it can push a message directly to the consumer's phone like coupons, or deals nearby, etc. The beauty in that system is that it can bypass the need for the user to have their GPS/location sharing turned on AND bypasses the need for the user to have a specific app installed on their phone to receive these notifications.
Now, I decided I was going to uninstall the BeaconManager app, but of course, there's a system-level app on there as well, the Downloaded app, was just an updated. So, I'm back to original/stock version of the BeaconManager app, and since it shares the same icon as the Quickconnect feature on the phone, I thought to launch QuickConnect and connect to my Samsung TV (which is hooked up to my LAN). Sure enough, the app said there was an update for me to install before it would connect to any of my local LAN devices that it found, so I agreed to the update, and sure enough, there was BeaconManager after I installed the update. Same version as before I uninstalled the update.
I think that this app serves both to function as a means of communicating with these proximity beacons Samsung is developing AS WELL AS support the Quickconnect functions, which are probably built on the same tech (to some degree) as these beacons......
Hopefully someone can chime in and add their 2¢ and let us know if we're on the right track....
anyone....?
TIA!

Hey. Just found out that this beacon manager stoppedigree my air view from working. Something that I have been trying to fix since the 6.0.1 update. I have turned this off so does anyone know if I have stopped something important here or not?
Please advise me

Beacon is what tracks you
This is the application is that when you are in a retail store and using their Wi-Fi system they literally can track where you move in the store and what areas you tend to linger in so that they can formulate with an algorithm what advertisements to push to you in order to maximize your shopping experience. The beacons are locations that use this type of shopper habit identification service. It's definitely an app to disable and I've deleted it on mine with no trouble just be sure to erase the data and clear the cache before doing so so there's no tracks left behind this is a truly Big Brother built on retail application.... talk about complete privacy invasion

Norbarb.. Tyvvm.! Finally.. A USEFUL post linking clear concise detailed info on exactly the subjet matter! Woohoo
What is a Beacon?
Beacons are low-cost, low-powered transmitters equipped with Bluetooth Low Energy or BLE (also called Bluetooth 4.0 or Bluetooth Smart) that can be used to deliver proximity-based, context-aware messages.
A beacon transmits signals which allows another device to determine its proximity to the broadcaster. In a store, a beacon lets a customer’s app determine that it’s close to a particular aisle, or in a particular department. The beacon doesn’t transmit content, it simply transmits a signal that lets a user’s phone or tablet figure out what its proximity is to the beacon.

How do I get rid of beacon and ither unwanted Samsung apps. They clutter up the system on both my phone and tablet. As a newbie, I need some help in how to clean house or maybe change houses?

More often than not, GPS can't determine your position inside a building, dude.

Your phone uses cell towers in a triangle to determine location, half the time your phone doesn't even use it's g0s chip unless you set locations to gps only

Then, it's not "GPS being accurate enough", right?
As to GSM triangulation, I'm now in the middle of a city with plenty of cell towers around, "coarse location ON" (no GPS) in my device, and it's "finding" me one mile away from here, as the crow flies. In other words: it doesn't have a clue where I am, and probably just wild-guesses from my last accurate position.
So, no, definitely GSM location doesn't suffice for a precise positioning inside a store, and GPS arguably could do it.
Which, anyway, doesn't answer my main question "what's the use to a mobile holder for a Beaconservice?". I've frozen it, just in case.

You're so wrong. GPS doesn't work properly in buildings that why they track using Bluetooth and WIFI beacons.

Thanks for reviving a dead thread for this dumb answer. GPS in the note 5 was good enough alone to work inside. It also had LTE assistant.

Endomondo not syncing my runs

Hi there,
I bought Sony Smartwarch 3 primarily for tracking my jogging while listening to music, because at my new job I can't upload music to the phone or install any apps and I don't have 'private' phone (I've Xperia Z4 Tablet, which is too big to run with).
While the experience of running without phone is great, the standalone Endomondo app usually fails to upload my training to the servers. I've set my Endomondo to use watch's GPS so I just go outside - without the phone - and start tracing the run as soon as GPS finds the fix. After I'm back the watch connects to the tablet, but nothing happens. Out of maybe 6 runs just one uploaded correctly and I have no idea what I'd done differently. Is there a particular order of actions I should follow for this to work? Should I run Endomondo on both the tablet and watch before starting the run, so that they somehow "know" that I expect them to connect afterwards? Are there any other equivalent apps that are more consistent and reliable? I hear good things about Ghostracer but it looks very amateurish
Thanks in advance for any tips!
I tried Ghostracer yesterday and I'm sticking to that - despite hideous talet UI it at least communicates to the user what's going it, i.e. it tells you it will end the recording and save the data and then actually uploads them to the app on the tablet, from where I can export it to file & import to Endomondo. Quite a roundabout way to get there, but at least it seems bulletproof.
Same thing is happening to me, I am desperate. Don't know what else to do. I have already did a factory reset to the watch and the phone, same thing happens.
I sent an email to endomondo support but they haven't answered yet.
I don't want to use another app, because I've been using endomondo for several years already and I really like it.
Any clues?

Well, there's this site: https://tapiriik.com/ which lets you sync your trainings between various services (e.g. Endomondo, RunTastic, Strava),so what I did I copied my trainings from Endomondo to Strava and connected the Ghostracer app to Strava so it uploads automatically.
Alternatively, if you really don't want to leave Endomondo, you can simply run with Ghostracer and - from the phone/tablet app - export the .gpx or .tpx files and import them to Endomondo (via their web-page, I don't think it's possible via app) which works very good. Also, you can use Ghostracer, have it upload your training automatically to Strava or Runkeeper and then use the website I mentioned above to sync that (automatically, if you're willing to donate few $ to its creator) with Endomondo.
Probably not the answers you were looking for, but hope that helps
I don't think Endomondo will care enough for standalone GPS watches to fix this, which is a shame but that how it works.
hey antic604, thank you so much. I have tried tapiriik, it works great!
I have just received a reply from endomondo, at least they accept there is an issue, I am going to ask for an ETA now.

Also, it turns out Tapiriik has an app in Google Play Store, which should make the process even easier
I'm afraid the reply from Endomondo is a template, generic answer to any complaint they get, so I wouldn't keep my hopes up. Would be glad if they fixed it, though
Please post in this thread if you get more info from them.

There's no separate installation happening on the watch itself - you just install the app on your phone / tablet and it should appear on the watch as well (if it's synced with your primary device).
First i could not see it in mini-launcher. Now I fond it in stock and after endomondo download it showed up in mini as well. Thanks!

Android Wear 2.0 paired with an IPhone

How is your Huawei watch working with an iPhone following the new update? I presently don't own an iPhone but am jumping ship when the IPhone8 drops. I want to use my Huawei watch with the iPhone. Just curious to hear your pros and cons.

AW 2.0 isnt working with my iPhone 6s. Cant force the update with repeated taps on update screen becuase I cant force the watch to wifi (not an option). Any help from somebody that got it to work with an iPhone would be appreciated.
Am I the only one with an iPhone and a Huawei watch? Comments on other threads got me thinking I am not missing out on much.
same here. how does one get to wifi when using an iphone?
I manually flashed Android Wear 2.0 last night, as far as I can tell, everything is working just as it did on 1.5 with my iPhone 7plus

Got a notification that an update was available this afternoon. Going through the instal now. Ill let you guys know if there are any hiccups.
Everything seems to be working pretty well. Any of us iPhone users able to figure out how to respond to text messages directly? Is it supported with ios messaging?
Google maps isnt working. Cant respond to text messages. Not seeing any apps that make me excited. Pretty limited functionality improvement. New watch faces are cool, but the weather, phone battery status etc. complications dont function. I may be missing something but function wise I dont see significant improvement for the iPhone users the way that I was expecting it to. Would love some help or some insight from other users if they have a short review or tips for doing some of the things I think I am missing.

I'm using the elements watch face and the complications work great in android. Try using elements analog or digital. Long press the watch face and that should get you into settings. Tap on data and pick your complications. Also make sure you've opened the app connected to the complication. Hope this helps

Hello, I can confirm your info i have the same.
I was waiting for the AW2 to switch to my iPhone 6s.

Previously I was on my galaxy S5 with my Huawei watch with AW 1.5.
the only good thinks it's the play store, not all watch face are compatible but some are.
for the weather, I have Pujie Black watch face it works.

Updating to Android Wear 2.0: (Verified by a few users). This is for the Huawei Watch and an iPhone.
Have the watch connected to the charger.
Remove and re-install the IOS Android app.
Unpair the watch and start over.
In Settings go to System/About/System Updates.
Wifi is NOT working yet. Choose Bluetooth in the update process and download the update.
Upon completion of the update you should have the wifi setting . Now you have access to the Play Store and all the new features of Android Wear 2.0.

The fitness part on iPhone is non existing. Google fit doesn't sync and Huawei Wear doesn't have Huawei watch as an option... So all things fitness stays on the watch sadly.
