Zenfone 5 A500CG came back with poor WiFi and 3G signal after RMA - Zenfone 5 General

Sent the phone for RMA to fix camera issues and it came back with very poor WiFi and often disconnects from mobile networks dropping the signal to emergency only.
Anyone familiar with it's hardware and teardown might have an idea what might have caused this? Asus took nearly a month with my phone and I'm not sure I want to send it back to them.
Running latest LP firmware.

[Q] LTE connectivity issues on LTE Galaxy Nexus. Flashing ICS 4.0.4 did not solve.

I bought a new GNex last week and immediately ran into bad connectivity issues when preferred network mode is set to LTE/CDMA. Basically no signal all (3G or 4G), even though I live in downtown Boston where there should be 4G. When I switch my preferred network mode from LTE/CDMA to CDMA, the 3G network works fine with no connectivity issues.
On the phone, Verizon told me that a software patch in May will fix the issue. A staffer at the Verizon store told me that I could already find the patch online and that it would solve the problem... I assumed he was talking about 4.0.4. I flashed 4.0.4 yesterday fully expecting it to solve my LTE connectivity problems but ..... no luck. I still get no signal using the LTE/CDMA setting. I can't even make or receive calls unless I switch back to CDMA.
Do I have a hardware issue? Are other people having the same problem? Should I trust Verizon and hope that the 4.0.5 OTA update fixes the problem? Is there anything I can do about it now?
I am in the same boat as you. Just got a replacement from Verizon but it had a horrible purple tint to the screen so its going back. Didn't even get to see if its better at 4g. I think its a hardware problem as I've read that some people were able to get a replacement phone that actually works.

My problem is similar. I can get 4G and use it sometimes but after a short time of data usage all my data is cut off until I reboot the phone. No calls, no nothing. I logged a ticket last night and will be calling back today for an exchange.
edit:
I stopped into the VZW store after calling customer care and getting everything all setup. They swapped out my gnex for a new one and so far my experience has been positive. I'm seeing improved signal everywhere and last night the phone didn't drop connectivity once or even get warm. The old phone would get hot to the touch in the upper left of the screen, the new one stayed cool throughout 30 app downloads with 2 bars 4g. Here's to hoping my problem is solved.
I'm getting a similar issue with connectivity dropping ice had this phone for three weeks and the signal drops terribly. At my house because I live on a mountain by a Penn state campus I know there isn't much in the way of signal because of the distance from the towers without interference. But even with being in other areas with 4g I still run into the signal dropping...I thought it was just me so it's good too know I'm not the only one having issues

LTE Data Connectivity Intermittent Loss, with 2 Lumia 900's, help needed

I purchased a White Lumia 900 around April 20, updated the phone and have noticed since Day 1 that I was getting intermittent data loss when I was on the cellular connection (not WiFi).
To fix it, I would have to either wait a long (20-30 minutes) time for it to 'fix' itself (which it would only sometimes fix itself), or I would have to either power-cycle the phone or just toggle the Airplane Mode to reset the Cell Radio on/off.
I only noticed a few weeks ago that the data connection loss was happening only on LTE, not 3G/HSPA+.
I went ahead and switched SIM cards. Still the same issue. I then went to my local AT&T Service Center to get a new phone sent to me via the warranty service.
I just received the new Lumia 900 White, tested it out and the SAME thing is happening again! Random data connectivity loss on LTE. What the hell??
The data connectivity loss occurs about every 15 minutes.
Strangely enough, I traveled on business last week to the Chicago area, which also has LTE. I didn't experience the issue there at all.
I am located in the Northern VA area (Reston, VA) - could it be that there are issues with the LTE connection in this particular area?
Does anyone have any ideas on how to resolve this issue? I find it very heard to believe that I am having the SAME problem on two Lumia 900's. I don't think it can be faulty hardware happening to BOTH phones coincidentally.
Any help/guidance would be *greatly* appreciated. Thanks in advance.
I have an idea,
call AT&T and tell them the service in your area SUCKS.
Seriously, once you confirmed it worked fine in another town do you really think its the phone that is at fault? Especially after going through 2 phones and having the same issue?
Obviously you are either in a BUSY BUSY cell area with too many people connecting or your tower sucks.
Thanks for the reply. I called AT&T Support today and they said they would put in a case to look into the LTE service in this particular area. They said it may take up to 2 weeks but they should get back to me on its status.
How much do you want to bet they will either:
1) never get back to me with an update
2) come back with an update, saying "We couldn't find any issues with connectivity in that area"
At any rate, is there ANYONE else experiencing the same issue? My phone has dropped LTE connection about 20 times today in 5 hours.
I work about 8 miles from home and when I travel between the two locations LTE hands off from one to the next without any problem. I did travel down to Orlando a few weeks ago and appeared to have a connectivity issue while at dinner (3 bars of LTE but couldn't download), but I was on my way out the door an didn't bother to pursue it. When I got home LTE was working fine. So the troubled AT&T towers are probably still a good guess.

Me too
I have been having the same issues since day 1, I havent tried to replace or return my phone because I bought it from an ebay seller and I am living in Ecuador, so its kind of expensive just to try to send it back and possibly with no response or telling me that is a network issue of my country.
Each time I go to a place with a weak signal, the phone will go to "E", and the connection wil drop, after a few minutes return to "4G", but the connection won't return at all, the only way to restore the connection is by rebooting.
By the way, I have done like 10 hard resets, and even reloaded the firmware with nokia care suite, and nothing, the problem persists.
My wife is using a Lumia 710, and it works perfectly.
I am using an unlocked lumia 900 from rogers

I think the update that was supposed to fix the problem, was made specifically for ATT and another specifically to Rogers, so if you are in other network with this phone you will still experience this issue

WiFi issues on 5 Ghz Network

Hello everyone,
I wonder if anyone has experienced the following problems and if they have resolved them. My Lg G4 is having some serious problems with my 5ghz WiFi network at home. The 2.5 ghz works reasonably well but the speed of my 5 Ghz is more than twice the 2.5. So here is what happens, I am in the room of the router, excellent connection and all of a sudden during browsing facebook/random internet search about c++ programming/linux command the the internet cuts out. There is no internet on my phone what so ever, going to any page yields the same result. I pulled out my laptop and tested the connection on the 5 ghz and 90 megs per second.
If I turn the wifi off and turn it back on the phone reconnects and regains internetability (or the traffic starts going again).
I have tried resetting my phone, getting a replacement, changing router settings - I did everything from removing the key, leaving it unprotected to changing channels to doing firmware updates to no avail.
Has anyone had this issue and solved it?
Wireless on this device is seriously broken in every aspect. I've been battling the 5ghz issue for months now. They (VZW) know its an issue, LG knows it an issue. They credited me for two months but now say they wont do any more and I have to buy a new device out of my pocket. Even went as far as to tell me the G4 doesn't support 5ghz band and that they were sorry that I don't understand how WiFi works. They also refuse to warranty because its a software bug and any additional G4's will have the same issue. So its an issue, but its not an issue...according to them....Totally over it, and their lack of support.
Sorry, I don't have a solution for you, but I can confirm the G4 has 5ghz issues. The LG G2 also does, but much worse.
I have my G4 connected to 5ghz only (802.11ac) at home, and I experience this issue about once a week. (I'm sure it would be more if I used my phone at home more). The traffic all of the sudden just stops. Toggling wifi on/off or just waiting a long time solves it. My two other devices on 5ghz have zero issues. I can live with it because, so far, it has never interrupted important stuff like wifi calls.
Same result here on the 9th device stupid VZW has sent me and the 5ghz still dont work. I still cannot understand how it is that these people sell a broken device and can get away from the lemon laws. It is like a bank all we do is we take in the money and the broken product we sold to you is something you have to deal with.

Connectivity Problems

Just got my Pixel 3a XL straight from Google, but out of the box my wifi and signal disconnect every few minutes or so when I'm actually using them. If idle then I have no problems.
I have tried flashing different factory images for the device but the issue persists.
Is anyone else having this issue or similar?

No problems whatsoever with wifi or 4g on mine. If flashing firmware images does not help then this to me sounds like a hardware problem. Your next step is going to be contacting Google support
No problems here at all. I have a good cellular signal better than my old nexus 6 and wifi is great. Better hit google support.
So I did request for a replacement from google, but I found that the wifi will disconnect a lot if it's on the 5 Ghz band. As for the cellular signal, that still hasn't been fixed.

Keep us posted on the situation. At least for me the 3aXL has excellent cellular reception. Went to a restaurant where I never had a signal with several phones and I had a signal. The wife was upset because her phone did not have a signal. We both have t-mobile.
No issues at all so far, but only two days with the phone.

Question Horrible signal connectivity?

Hi all, I just recently bought this pixel 6 pro a few weeks ago and I've been having horrible connection issues. The main one that plagues me is when all of a sudden, for no reason, I lose mobile data connection. I have some bars of signal with the LTE or 5G icon but with an exclamation point in it. Or sometimes it just loses signal randomly like in the screenshot below. Both screenshots were taken minutes apart.
I've noticed this was an issue for most people and have posted about this here, but I haven't seen anyone complain about it recently. Is there a fix for this problem?
Unfortunately for a great manu people, myself included this phone has garbage reception. There is no known fix.
Me to
My troubles began after I updated the phone to A13 enrolling to Beta and then leaving it.
The problem was that the phone will be stuck to H+ all day although weI have good coverage of 4G and 5G in town. Sometimes the connection would just drop and I had to engage flight mode to reset it.
Yesterday I decided that I had enough and did the reset of network settings. Today I have noticed that the problem was solved. Now I have 4g and 5g as in the past. But the problem now is that the Internet just would not work from time to time although it shows full bars. Had to use aeroplane mode again today about 3 times.
It's very annoying to say the least. Had thoughts of changing the phone. Not even speaking about heating issues when on mobile. Horrible.

I also have to occasionally switch on/off airplane mode when the phone cannot connect to the internet from time to time
i agree, terrible signal problems, all time. I`ll try to reset all network settings
for me it`s a disrespect from google to treat all final user like beta tester
Same here. Super slow connection even in areas with towers close by.
Been having this issue ever since I updated to Android 13.
Having only had the phone for 2 weeks, I took it to my provider who said all they can do is return it to Google. With both my eSIM and my physical sim dropping out together, apparently its an RIL problem. They did say that if it's just an issue with one SIM card, replacing it will fix it.
I think this can be solved downgrading to android 12.1 dev you can downgrade to android 12.1 without downgrade bootloader it's safe and don't brick your device because it's a android 12 that runs over android 13 bootloader. Keep in mind that this will erase your data permanently! Do a backup before do it
This has been happening since the phone came out. This is due to the old modem they are using from Samsung. There is no fix.
My coworker has this happen with his 6 Pro, while my 6 is perfect ironically. He has verizon, I got tmobile. He has to leave the store to make a call, but I don't. This has been for the last 6 months though

Had the phone sent away to Google for repairs as the issue ended up happening when I was showing my provider. Got it back and Google said there were "no issues" with it and they couldn't replicate it with either SIM type. Either they put out a hotfix or it magically went away, but I'll see how it goes after using it again.

If you've got another phone (5G compatible), you can try to see if the problem is the phone, or the actual network coverage.
Also, something else you could do is switch to 4G and see if the problem persists.
The thing with 5G is that the coverage is really spotty. That's in general. I don't live in the US, so I don't know what the actual coverage is over there. But that's a general thing with 5G. It cannot penetrate as well as 4G, and even worse than 3G or 2G. When you increase frequency, you lose distance (coverage). So basically 5G needs a lot more repeaters to get proper coverage.
But you could try another phone in the exact same area. Oor..try to switch to 4G and see if the issue still occurs. You could also call the carrier and ask if they have any idea why is this happening.

Same with me. I keep 5G turned off for a couple reasons.
1, battery life.
2. 4G is fast enough for me.
3. Better signal.
