What is My Downloaded ROM's Version and Build Number? - Ascend Mate 7 Original Android Development

Hi guys, I have limited monthly traffic and can't download whatever I like,
I have downloaded a ROM and to all my stupidity forgot to write the build number and version,
Now I need to install it but I'm not sure if it's the exact file that I need to install??!!
Its an UPDATE.APP file zipped in with the following name "Mate 7 MT7-TL10 Android 6.0 Europe for MT-TL10.zip"
How can I find out what version and Build and maybe Cust. Build No. my ROM file is?
Thanks in advance.

The best advice I can give you is to go into your browser history to the page where you downloaded the file from, as the version- and build numbers should be noted there.
Just make sure that you install the right build, otherwise you'll end up in a boot loop and be forced to download a new package anyway, just to get your device running again.

This is a really good advice for people who are clever and use one browser on their phone or pc, I use at least 3 or 4 different browsers on my pc and 5 or 6 on my phone, and considering that I downloaded the file almost a month ago it'll take me almost forever to go through all that history.
Anyways I really appreciate that you took the time and wrote the message bro.

Upgrading/Flashing HX4700 ROM Instructions

What you have to do is downlaod HP(SP33318) from the HP Website for free then using the hpRUU.exe using the orginal unmodified ROM open the .exe and when it comes up with tick here if you accept terms and conditions, tick the box and press next it will verify your pocket PC and the unmodified ROM and then will come up with a page showing stats IE. ROM version it should say update at the bottom before pressing update copy the new modified ROM to the where the unmodified rom is located and rename the modified rom to the same as the unmodifed rom in most the cases you can rename the modifed ROM CEOS_UPG.nbf and you should note that the umodified ROM is overwritten this is a safe guard for yourself doing it right, now hit update on the program and sit back and enjoy a cup of tea or two while it updates! Hope this helps this method hasnt failed me yet and i have updated my ROM 10+ times! and for anyone else stuck with ROM updating take notes this a 100% full proof method!
If you require pics also or a full step by step manual just ask!

TAB 3 10.1 stock firmware??

Hi, I'm looking for the US version of the latest stock firmware for the P5210 United States version. I've looked at sammobile.com and tried to find it there but it seems EVERY other country in the world is listed except for US versions. Is there a reason for that? Some weird laws here that prevent that? I've wondered that for a while since my original tab 7" days and I could never find US firmware for that either and had to use the UK version.
Anyway, I'm trying to install Grievous 5.0 rom and this is the first ROM i've tried putting on it. Was rooted for a while, just flashed TWRP, that went fine, made a backup. Tried installing the rom, it said successful but when I went to re-boot it, I keep getting two boots to the samsung logo then right to the TWRP main menu.
Yes... I did follow the devs installation instructions exactly. Two or three times. Tried different resets, and installation combinations with no progress, and the same result. If it matters, the file I downloaded was the android file hosting one... currently downloading it again from Mega in hopes it was just a bad download. As of right now, this thing is pretty much dead in the water.
The stock firmware is linked in the OP of this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2421594
Flash it through ODIN and you should be good to go, I had a similar issue previously.
Thanks, did you ever get any ROM to install and load on yours? I'd really like to try one but so far this whole thing has been a mess. This is my first go at doing any modding on a Samsung device, I've done plenty of Motorola stuff, that just always seems to work for me with no issues. Thanks again for that link. I might have to play with this a little more when I have more time.

I was attempting to flash Pimpdroid when I had the problems, and it seemed like every time I tried to wipe/flash something went wrong. I'm not 100% sure, but I think I ended up just flashing over the stock rom. That was a couple months ago, though, and I'm not sure if flashing techniques have changed or if it has gotten any easier.
Hey man , you have not looked the firmware properly. First of all , US firmware on sammobile is always written as the country 'cellular south' . So , buddy on sammobile firmware section type p5210 and then look for the country cellular south . I was also confused first but then I found my tab's pda code and csc code and then looked for the country and it matched with cellular south . So buddy search for cellular south country . And if you don't want to download from sammobile or you have any problems downloading from sammobile , here is the link https://mega.co.nz/#!sJZCxQ7T!hdJXKXTVZe_Rx63CYE3xPESxxNr9FWqgGQgmOz1DH3A P.S. - It the latest US stock firmware for GT-P5210. And the link which darthjader has provided, the firmware is of any European country because US firmware starts from UEU. And the latest U.S. firmware is P5210UEUAMK1 . I have provided you with the link of latest P5210UEUAMK1 . And to the answer for your 2nd question , Yes, I flashed the pimproid rom without any glitches and problems. What I did was that my tab was rooted and TWRP was installed . I just placed the pimproid rom in my tab's internal sd card , booted into TWRP recovery and then without any wiping I just installed the rom because TWRP automatically wipes the data and dalvik cache . I haven't tried the grevious rom . Ok my friend , after writing such a long post I hope that you find my post useful .
PLEASE HIT THANKS IF I HELPED YOU .

This is very interesting. When I go to the OP listed above, the file name is P5210XXUAMG6_P5210OXXAMG3. However, when I look at my firmware in the device, the Build Number is JDQ.P5210UEUAMK1. Not sure how Samsung Build Numbers relate. They could be country specific like mentioned above, or something else. I just don't know.
My concern is loading a build that is not the same as the one on my Tab. I have backed up the device using TWRP but I am not sure if that particular build is included in the backup as part of the system.
I too am not sure if I have loaded stuff correctly. I know I am ROOTED because a Root Check said so. I loaded a new Rom but really saw no real difference. So I am not sure if I have done things right. I did follow the letter of the procedures to the T.
added: you can also find the firmware at this address.

phone process crash after flashing ROM

Hey,
I have the LG G3 D855.
Phone info > Hardware info says:
Model number LG-D855
16GB
Phone info > Software info says:
Android version 4.4.2
Baseband version MPSS.DI.2.0.1.c1.13-00009-M8974AAAAANPZM-1.01701338.5067.1
Kernel version 3.4.0
Build number KVT49L.A1412000029
Software version V10l-262-02
According to IMEI, it's A6D2TN, it's vodafone germany I guess.
I don't have LTE option.
First, I tried the 3845#*855# option - I can get 4g but naturally it doesn't last.
So, I tried to delete the apk - I needed root for that so I rooted with purple drake lite (stump didn't work) and tried that - didn't work either, I had no LTE option.
I figured I'd flash another ROM with different software version and that'll be it so I installed the bump TWRP.
Next, after full TWRP backup, I tried to flash Last Firmware Stock (TWPR) << D855-10N>>.
The flash went fine but after the phone rebooted, I got a message that the phone process crashed. I couldn't get rid of it, even after pressing OK it keeps popping, another few reboots didn't help.
So, I tried AndroidNow HD 2.0.
Same result. Lucky I had the backup so I just reverted to it.
So, I guess I'm missing something that prevents me from installing ROMs...
Anyone has any idea?
I'd appreciate any leads/ideas/links/whatever...
Same is happening to me. Problem is that now i can't restore my original backup, only my latest one , when i Connect my Phone via USB to use LG PC suite i don't have that option on the Phone, only MTP etc, and using my IMEI in LG firmware site there is no stock ROM available. So i'm stuck with L firmware.
Enviado do meu LG-D855 através de Tapatalk
Is yours V10l-262-02 too?
Attached are screenshots of the software and hardware screens...
I hope someone here can help.
Small update:
I managed to get 4G LTE working.
I edited /system/build.prop. Here's what I did:
*** Note - it worked for me, I take no responsibility if you brick/bootloop your device!! ***
*** Note 2 - You need root to accomplish this ***
Copy the original build.prop file to a safe location (say the external SD card)
Upload the original build.prop to your computer. I used Dropbox to sync it. Fast and simple.
On your computer, make a duplicate of the original file, just to be on the safe side.
Now, edit the original file. I used Notepad++. Find the line ro.telephony.default_network. On my file, this line was in comment, so if it is in yours, first remove the '#' at the beginning of the line. Then, change the value to 12. The default on mine was 9.
Save the file. Dropbox will sync it again.
Download the edited file from Dropbox and put it in your /system folder to replace the original. Use whatever file manager you like that has root privileges.
make sure the build.prop file has permissions 644 ( or rw-r--r--).
Check if now you have the LTE option in the mobile networks menu.
If you don't - try putting in a value of 11 or 13 instead of 12.
I still can't flash custom ROM, but since I wanted to flash in order to get 4G LTE in the first place, I'm fine with it.
Curious why I can't flash, but fine with it
Hope it helps someone...
And if someone has input on the issue of flashing a custom ROM - I'd be very happy to hear about it!

OTA 5.1.1 update .cfg

Hi guys! Due to my patience, I finally found this OTA update I downloaded from AT&T.
Now, does this file usable for odin?
here's the link for the .cfg file: https://mega.nz/#!FUpRGD5R!wUWv0oU8yJ-tR6_H0ixalh5NtZQQKuzrsNNuzH0hmq0
also, the reason why i wasn't able to screenshot it is because, my phone lagged xD
According to Tonys.94, my .cfg will be usable if you renamed it as update.zip and put it in your memory card.
It was SUCCESSFUL for me. I am now in 5.1.1 (I'm tired of waiting for ROOT haha! I need the Personal Hotspot so bad).
For those who are wondering how did I become successful in upgrading:
1. I was using KitKat 4.4.4 when I decided to borrow my friend's AT&T Simcard so that AT&T will push the update towards my phone (I am at T-mobile)
2. Afterwards, I rooted my phone so I would be able to gain root access for ES File Explorer and pullout the OTA update from /data/data/fota (i think).
3. I renamed the .cfg file to update.zip (thanks to tonys.94)
4. Make sure it's in the memory card and go to recovery mode and press apply update from sdcard.
Voala! I'm at Lollipop now! Take note that, if you are planning to use this file, all of your files will be deleted. I flashed my update.zip DURING my class lol. If you have further questions, I'll do the best thing I could do to help! I'm trying to get rid my note 4 soon and buy S6 from T-mobile, although S7 is coming by January (according to the article of TheVerge lol)
UPDATE 10/23/2015: I just found out MYSELF that this .cfg FILE went through 5.0 not 5.1.1 . I did not have time checking the 'about' menu 'til today. I AM VERY SORRY. How do I take down this thread? This is misleading srry
Can you pelease upload thath?

Thanks for the upload, but from what I understand this file may not be used to flash, as usually these zip files have to be decompiled and restructured somewhat to make them Odin useable. However, you may be able to use this zip file and put it on a micro sd card, put it in your phone, restart into the recovery (hold volume up rocker, home button, and power button) then select apply update from external storage and select the zip file. Again I don't know if that will work, I have done some loose reading. Unfortunately I do not know how to decompile the the zip file either for Odin, but I will see if I can contact someone on here who has decompiled these before.
It appears I missed typed. After downloading and trying to update via external storage in recovery it doesn't see the .cfg file. Trying to figure out how to use adb sideload.
Thanks for the Upload!
Will try this file to see if it successfully updates or not.
just finished bro
you are welcome! hope everything would be fine

I renamed the .cfg file to update.zip. It updated completely without any problems bro. If you could find someone how to make it usable with Odin, that would be great!

I responded to you on another thread about this, but yeah I converted to zip, and it verifies but fails once it tries to write, then factory reset the phone and restarts. I sent a message to one dev already who's decompiled these before. No response yet. I'll see if any other dev's working on the Note 4 root may be able to help or send me material to teach me how to do it.
So does rename .cfg file to .zip method work ? I saw OP reported "ok", but @arathonyi reported "failed".
arathonyi said:
It's not working currently. I tried re-downloading the file, which didn't work, and I tried adb sideload which also didn't work. Something in the zip needs to be tweaked before it can be flashed onto phones besides the OP (probably some kind of hardware signature).
EDIT - Looks like the version_info needs to be updated to whatever your current firmware is. The current contents are:
Current Firmware :N910AUCU1ANIE/N910AATT1ANIE_CL2774708_QB2373670_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar/N910AUCU1ANIE
Update Firmware :N910AUCU1COC4/N910AATT1COC4_CL4160876_QB4512549_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5/N910AUCU1COC4
I'm on 5.0.1 which is probably why it didn't work, since OP said he updated straight from 4.4.4 (which is the "current firmware" listed above).

You're right, I overlooked that. I modified it a bit, it reads, but when it tries to verify it gives an error saying it could not verify whole file. I am going to take the version file out of the equation and see what happens.
Update: It provided the same error. Failed whole file verification, fails install and reset and restarts. So no luck sorry guy's I don't quite know what I'm doing. I tried looking up some stuff on Youtube with not much luck as the things I found and tried failed.

I thought i had it u.u
i used your cfg file and i converted it to a zip fail tried the update and it failed so i read a previous reply here that the person did it while being on Kit kat so i had a 4.4.4 kitkat file for my note 4 and i flashed that in so i can try the update again and everything was going fine until the update crashed but the funny thing is instead of taking me back to 4.4.4 kitkat the update took me to 5.0.1 lollipop so i dont know what happened..

Are both files necessary? i thought you only needed the Ap file.
The AP file is one of the largest and its still downloading. The website its hosted on is throttling it because I did free download. In order to get a better download you have to pay/create an account which I'm not okay with. Soooo, the AP file is still currently downloading. Here is what I have in Mega right now.

The reason is losq-v is the start of the filename pretty sure you can just press tab and it will autocomplete so the command would be "fastboot flash system losq-v"(after losq-v type rest of your filename or press tab to autocomplete (do not add a space in between losq-v and rest of filename))

Two persons get in trouble by the crap you copy and pasted here, and instead of take responsibility when things go bad, the only crap you can say is: ask THE GUYS in telegram rofl

Odin Recovery Fails
I go step by step but when I hit start on Odin to flash recovery I get two error messages
1. one in Odin in the log section with the following message "failed (auth)"
2. the other on the phone in the download mode in red something along the lines "you can only install official binaries"
I searched the forums and found a few suggestions, turning on USB debugging, applying magisk patches etc.... I never saw anyone confirming any method that would have worked. Whatever I tried to do it either didn't work or I couldn't do it because of lack of skills or it wasn't possible. For example when I tried to use magisk in the descriptions I had install buttons in the manger but I'm missing these on my phone so I suspect that recovery is required first to make those patches or there's something that I don't know how to do it. Either way following the instructions doesn't work for me and I tried a bunch of things and none worked. Different versions of Odin 3.14.1, 3.14.4. If anyone has any idea please help. I reset the whole phone to factory hoping it would help, there's no data on it right now but I still get the same error.
Thanks

-Odindownload.com last Odin
- https://github.com/ivanmeler/SamFirm_Reborn/releases download samfirm reborn and use it to get latest original Samsung firmware
Unzip it with 7-ZIP !!!!!! www.7-zip.org
On the Odin website there is a YouTube video how to proceed. But do NOT use any PIT file you find somewhere like the vid shows in example, you will almost for sure brick it if you don't know exact exactly what you r doing! Be warned!
After unzipping you see files beginning with AP BL CP CSC , put them in Odin where they should be.
Under options ONLY mark AutoReboot and F reset time and nothing else.
I hope you get your phone back to working state with this, remember you will not be able to get updates OTA any more since you broke the Efuse.
From there on if I were you I only would root the phone and wait till official TWRP is out, or hopefully some day an official LineageOS.
So far nothing official means lack of maintanance after a while, no updates, bugs, bad assistance and more crap, just like this thread is written by someone who gathered info from just here and there and made this "tutorial" with copy and paste and added b.s. for trying to become a star on Telegram-ish group and look populair there.
Just Root it, debloat it and live with it.

Thanks andreoide for your honest answer :good:
My phone's working, I didn't get far with it, never broke it, just unlocked it. I guess the installation failed during the validation before actually doing any physical changes because my Samsung stock system still runs. The phone is given to me by my company. I just took out the sim card and put it in my private dual-sim phone. So this phone is on the shelf, it's been there for the last few months. I wish I could use it it's higher end than my personal but can't deal with Samsung stock system. I had two phones with lineage (and whatever the name was before) and loved it so I'm hoping I can use it again.
Anyway, it was just explaining my situation, I guess I'll be checking this forum and hoping for more positive news. Meanwhile the phone goes back on the shelf and waits for better times, thanks again for straitening things up for me. :good:
