Note7 Recall CHECK - an easiest way - Note 7 Themes, Apps, and Mods

Hi guys,
Just want to let you know an easiest way to check if your Note7 is safe or it must be replaced through the Note7 Safety Recall program.
Just use the Phone INFO ★Samsung★ app, open the 'Other Tools' menu, and select 'Note7 Recall Check' button to check.
You can check using the device's IMEI or S/N.
Download: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.vndnguyen.phoneinfo

Thanks for this, I've used your app already but have a couple of questions:
1) I can't see the Recall check option under other tools.
2) When I perform a rrefurb check I get the resukt that my handset is original, however, the manufacturing date and serial number do not match, is this an error?

I am also not seeing a Recall Check button or option under other tools.

Left side menu in that phoneinfo app, then other tools then pic the imei then press note 7 recall check.
Sent from my SM-N930P using Tapatalk

I might need to update the app first. I couldn't see the option until I updated the app.
Looks like all this does is check against the US website search as mine comes up it can't be found so should be ok... and gives an American number to call if unsure.

a message just popped up on my UK replacement Note 7 saying my phone will recieve a software update tomorrow to implement the green battery and battery status on the power menu.

What criteria are you checking? Based on what information do you decide, if it's safe or not?

@hkr @jongilluley says it is checking via the US site.

Yes as alltaken123 had said, the app poll the info from the Samsung US site.

Updated the app, now the button is there. It does tell me my phone is one that is recalled. I already have my replacement N7 on the way via FedEx, so all is good.

Does the US site show the status of international versions correctly?
IMEIs that are not affected get the green battery icon, IMEIs that are affected, the 60% charge limitation with the update today?

I have tested 2 devices (international models) that were sold outside the US, and it reported correctly.
So I think the database is the same.

In my experience, yes. I was put off when my 2nd batch device was not recognised (UK) and gave me a contact number. That seems to be what it does if your device has been replaced with a 'batch 2'. I updated and sure enough the icon is now green. Firmware is the same revision on either device, it appears it is discriminating by IMEI. I'm sure some clever clogs will be able to extract the part of this firmware that decides how each Note 7 is affected.
@vndnguyen
Do you know why my serial number and manufacturing date don't match? App is great but I'm wondering if that's a bug.

If it show that your handset is original, it's OK and no need to worry about.
Regarding to the addition NOTE, it is just for user information.
I will consider to remove it because it can make users confused.

Anyone has a Note7 that's out of the recall program?

Samsung find my phone not working?

Hi Folks,
So I'm posting in the Tmobile side since I picked up a Tmobile S4 even though I'm using it on AT&T to see if its a Tmobile thing, maybe some conflict from running on AT&T or just doesn't work at all...
I setup and have created/logged in with a Samsung account in the accounts pane and when I go online to try to find the phone I get two things. The first is the site says its not available in my region. And the second is following some details on their site about enabling it on the phone aren't working. It says add a Samsung account (done), go to settings, more, security then remote management (or remote control) then more steps but there is no remote management or remote control listed under settings.
Is this working for anyone at all?

Signing up and logging in to your tmobile, google or AT&T accounts are optional
and have nothing to do with how or if your phone will work.
You don't need to sign on to any of these three for your phone to work properly.
If your Tmobile M919 Galaxy S4 is NOT UNLOCKED it will not work on any network
except Tmobile.
It will not work with AT&T unless the phone is UNLOCKED.
Either way, the main thing I was trying to say is whatever your problem is it has
nothing to do with signing into tmoble or AT&T or gmail.
All three of those things are optional and have no effect on the phone working properly.
Awesome good to know. Now the only question is has anyone else gotten it to actually work if they have tried?

It's difficult to say if it will work or not since I have NO idea of what the problem is to start with.
All I know is that you have an Tmobile Galaxy S4 cell phone.
I don't even know if you ever tried a Tmobile sim card in it or whether the phone is unlocked and so on.
So I don't know how to be more helpful to you.

No, I just mean the feature in general on the phone. Does anyone have the find my phone function through Samsung working or at least have tried and can confirm that it does work for you, or that you too can't set it up?

You still are very unclear in what your really want to know, I still do not even know if your phone ever worked properly for you.
I still don't even know if your phone is UNLOCKED or not and I don't even know if you have a at&t sim or a tmobile sim card.
You never mention these things in any of your posts so how can anyone confirm anything you are asking to be confirmed?
If you use your phone on the Tmobile network you will have the option of free wifi calling which does not count against cellular minutes.
On the AT&T network there will be no option at all for wifi calling.
All the other features and options on the Galaxy S4 whether it's on the AT&T network or Tmobile network will be exactly the same.
You will not see or find any differences at all except for the wifi calling which I wrote about.
Anyway I am a bit busy, so I cannot help you anymore but I am sure there will be a lot of other people
here who can help you even more than I can.
Perhaps a mind reader will give you a hand if your lucky enough to find one.
The question is clear. Has anyone had this option ever work for them?
To be honest I am not sure how the option works but it maybe GPS related if Samsung is controlling it and not the carrier.

The question has nothing to do with whether the phone is network locked or not; or what carrier's sim card is installed. It has to do with whether a specific function in an app works or not for AT&T users with a TMO device. I have an unlocked TMO version on AT&T network, I'll try what you are talking about and get back with you. I'm reverting back to my stock backup to check. I can't seem to find the particular app you're using through Samsung apps and it doesn't appear to be present on the debloated stock ROM I'm using.

My experience so far is that I also cannot access the feature. You are correct in the fact that the "Remote Control" tab doesn't exist under Settings->More->Security. It should be below "Encrypt Device" but it isn't. The website findmymobile.samsung.com says that once you activate/register your Samsung account on the device, that menu will automatically be enabled; but from my experience (and yours as well apparently) that is definitely not the case.
I did a little research, and within a few minutes I was directed to a thread here on XDA from the SIII forums talking about this particular problem. Apparently, the carriers themselves have removed the ability to use Samsung's built-in mobile location features in preference of the carrier's own mobile location apps and services.
dumb! but I figured out that lookout can do it. going on 24 hours since I picked it up and dusting off my android cobwebs still for how I used to get by a year ago. Was trying to have to install some 3rd party app that I didn't know so tried the built in stuff with no luck but with lookout pre installed and I already know it I figure that should work just fine for me. Thanks folks for the feedback and conversation!

AH, so that's what the guy was looking for, I just could not make much sense of what he was asking after reading his posts.
There are several apps at the play store which have the same or similar capabilities.
Here is a link to one of them, it's called "find my phone" it's a free app which finds phones which have been stolen or lost etc.

Yeah, but if it's supposed to be provided by the manufacturer it would stand to reason that it would be available to everyone who bought the device. Apparently though, our carriers tend to believe their own software is far superior to that of those who manufactured the device... I personally don't even use that stuff as I never turn GPS on in the first place; so in the event that my phone is stolen or lost, that kind of software won't do me any good to begin with.

[Q] Any way to tell if my second-hand Tab S has had anything odd installed on it?

Hi all,
I’ve just bought a 16GB 8.4 wifi model from Computer Exchange.
It’s come in a box with the initial start-up screen ask for log-in details, wifi password etc. I always make a point of skipping through this and then factory resetting the tablet just in case I spot anything odd.
This time, after the Android robot finishing with the reset, I saw an icon with a monkey’s face, and the message ‘Installing Applications’ before the tablet booted up to the normal initial set-up. Looking through the apps, this seems to be a Swiss app called ‘Teleboy’.
Obviously I found that rather odd. Doing some Googling – I think it might be an app that comes with Swiss Samsung tablets.
Is there any way to check nothing else odd is in there, before I stick all my passwords into it?

Looks like they included it in newer firmwares. I believe you have a different firmware from a different country. Different countries have different apps bundled in your device. I did some research about the teleboy app and it looks like an app for Samsung tvs. I believe you should be fine and if you want, you can disable it to be extra safe.
Here's where I looked at regarding teleboy. http://www.samsung.com/ch/smarthub/apps/app-03.html
It's a TV app in which Samsung included but probably isn't needed if you don't need it. Hope this helps!

[Q] Stock Verizon software "modified" out of box

Hey guys- in poking around with my phone in the first 24 hour of ownership, I found that the software status says "modified", instead of "official". Stopped in the local vzw store that I bought it through, and they had nothing for me. Had me take my sd card out and restart. Stayed the same(surprise), so they emailed their own tech support and I havent heard from them since. I do have dev options showing, but I have also heard that some folks have official with dev options activated.
Anyone else have a "modified" software status? Any idea what could be modified?
Just checked mine, same thing. Modified. I do not have dev options active.

Suspicious Activity - Huawei Mate 20 X

Hi,
I have noticed suspicious activity on my google account which shows the device is being used in somewhere in Europe. I changed my password and did a factory wipe on the phone but I still see same behavior on this device being simultaneously being used in Canada and Europe.
Has anyone noticed such behavior from the device and what's your advice on to fix/track the issue?

I also have the two step verification enabled and didn't get notified by google that my phone was being used in Europe as the same time it was being used in Canada.

I have seen a few different posts about getting rid of it, but some of the settings are missing and i can not finish that process.

Ouch! Now I understand.
That's gonna be a tough one. Generally your gonna need there login info to get back into them. There are dodgy Ebay sellers that claim they can get passed it for certain models of phones. but honestly that's the only other way around that if it's even possible for those models.
Now if you have receipts for them Google might be able to do something if you get ahold of the right person.

I don't know if you figured this out or if this would help but I think I can get you into the guest account on these devices.
First get a SD card with an apk on it. I downloaded one from apkpure. Then when the device asks you to connect to a wireless network, check the Show advanced options box. Then in the Proxy settings drop down box, select Manual. And click on the Proxy hostname box to bring up the keyboard, and press the settings button on the keyboard that looks like a gear. From the keyboard settings menu you can click the mulit-window button on the bottom taskbar and can open two windows. Open the file manager in one of the windows. In the file manager click on your SD card and try to install the apk you put on it. When it prompts you that you need to allow Unknown sources in the settings, click on the settings button to open the settings window. (Do not check the allow Unknown sources box if it allows it, if you check it, and the device resets or runs out of battery you'll have to go through this again, but when you click on the apk it won't prompt you to go to settings to allow unknown sources because they're already allowed.) Now just click on Users and switch to guest. There are some limitations to this mode, like not being able modify the wifi network (you'll have to switch back to the Owner account to change this).
I found a FRP bypass workaround if you are running 5.1.1 on a LG G Pad X 10.1 V930 AT&T model, not sure if all models are the same. It was FRP locked and all of the other bypass methods must have been patched. I was at the setup screen after a factory reset. I hope this helps.
1. Connect to wifi, then go back to start screen
2. Go to Accessibility > Vision > Enable Talkback
3. Go through the talkback training then draw an L to bring up the quick settings select Text to speech Settings (bottom right corner), afterwards you can disable Talkback by holding the power button and holding 2 fingers on the screen until it disables.
4. You will be in the settings app. Go to Users > Add user > User > Add user > Set up
5. You will be brought to a User setup screen select Next > It will pop up the wifi connection screen select next > You will be asked to sign into a Google account, sign into your Google account and proceed with the Google setup.
6. You will be brought to the homescreen. Go to settings > Users > And sign in as Owner.
7. Go to Settings > Factory data reset > Reset tablet. You can now factory reset and you will not be prompted to sign into a Google account.
