[Q] Pro Camera - HTC 10 Questions & Answers

I was at an orange store to look at the HTC 10, bc i'd like to buy one soon. I've seen that their phone had 16 seconds of exposure time.
The reviews on YouTube show that it has only 2 seconds.
Did it get more exposure time after the last update?

Seems to support 16 Dec exposure in Pro mode
Sent from my HTC 10 using XDA-Developers mobile app

Yup, my device does support 16 seconds of exposure, came after an update. (Unlocked, CID 038 India)

Its most probably that. try the nilkin one. Its good and thin and wont cause any tint. Been using it since day 1, no chips or anything. I'd recommend it.

My latest Gadget - One X - ask me anything you like to Know

Hi All,
Lucky enough to get the One X before the official release date (2-Apr) everyone is talking about.
Always wanted to own a phone which is the last thread in XDA but always my local shops get them little late but luckily this time they got it before everyone and i am the first person to buy
My Impressions:
Build quality is very nice (compared to my white Xperia S and Galaxy Nexus)
No heat until now (using since 3 hours)
System is fast enough to prove that it has 4 main cores and 1 companion core
Continuous camera shots function is too good and works really well
Features on My X
- grey camera ring
- no beats headphones
Any questions? will try to answer as many as possible with the knowledge i have
Signal strength - signal strength is little weaker than my wife's galaxy note on the same network
X v Note
Hi,
I notice that you have the Galaxy Note, which for me is the best phone that I have seen. How would you compare the One X with the note. Very keen about the screen in particular. Also is the size difference between the screens noticeable I am a huge fan of big phones.
I look forward to your answer
Hi, can your compare 3g signal strength with other phone? And audio from speaker
Feel free to answer the questions from the previous thread
I notice you said no Beats headphones, any headphones at all or just the phone, charger, etc?
I have 2 questions, how does the One X compare to the Galaxy Nexus in terms of pixels/clarity and blacks (if possible could you take a comparison photo) and also how is the gaming experience on the One X so far?
Would really appreciate if you could answer these
Hello, congratulations on getting the phone so soon, I am very jealous right now!
Questions then ( I imagine most want to know these)
1) What is the speaker quality like (Playing music and in calls)
2) Are the earphones any good despite not being "Beats"?
3) Compared to your old phone, whats the screen like?
finally
4) Whats the call quality like?
Ahhh the grey camera ring looks fine on retail build. Now... stay with grey or go white. Think I'll stick with grey.
Congrats on getting your phone
Can you test the loudspeaker with music?
How's the glossy edges?
Speaker loudness and pics from camera please?
How's the battery life so far? Just based on what you've observed in the three hours, I know you can't be very accurate at the given time. Thanks

compared to nexus pixel density seems very high but black levels are low which is expected due to LCD on one X and Amoled on Nexus

Ahhh that's what's meant by two colours of grey...
Dialaphone just calls it "Black".
Seems strange to me that HTC would offer two slightly different darker versions. From all press releases it seemed like there would be white, and there would be grey.
The OP's phone definitely looks gun metal gray, it quite closely mimics the MGS4 LE PS3 IIRC, which was gun metal.

There are 3 different types of screens for the HoX. Some manufactured by sony, others by acer and the rest by sharp. Maybe that might be the case and there's no actual fix to that. Having experienced two type of screens.
I had the acer screen and my friend had either a sony or a sharp. We never checked, however, i can tell you that both were very nice.
While mine had whiter whites, his had much nicer, vibrant colors. Nothing to be butthurt over IMO.

Might be just me. Im really neurotic when it comes to my tech
I've also got this problem, it might not be that easy to see on the picture I've attached, but you can at least see that the colors are not the same. I've also tested the screen with an app called Screen test, and it seems to completely fail the Checker board test under Resolution and Horizontal resolution (1 pixel) makes the display flicker.

Yeah, but I'm not sure if it's due to the HTC Color Enhancement, or if the screen is bad. The stores says it's just a different color temperature on the screen.
The the light in the proximity sensors are IR captured by the camera, so I can't see it (except through another camera ofc)

Green tint on greys

Is this normal? Greys have a green tint which is really noticeable on low brightness. Is this a limitation of AMOLED? But I don't recall this issue on my 6P or Note 4.
Hmm. Not having this issue...
Greys are really greenish. Though it happens only at some certain brightness level (a little more than the lowest).
The panel apparently is of low quality and has issues with greys. It's detailed in the anandtech.com review
Not noticing this on mine either.

I may have a slight tint on mine on greys, only on one half of the screen though. I'm colourblind so it could be green. I'm thinking it's more purple-ish though...

Yes what I had experienced from my last 3 phones I.e galaxy s2,s3,s4,s4 mini,s5 all of em which had amoled screen all have this thing. Its like if u seen u can't able to unseen. But its hard to notice. I think these displays are rather builded like this to work. Even my brother's new s7 has this thing.

On only part of the screen though? I know when tilting AMOLED displays that can happen but head on I don't know. (I've avoided AMOLED up until now because my last couple experiences with older ones was not so nice)

Guess that answers that, cheers!. (although mine might be right side of the screen, not bottom)
On my phone, the bottom part is also "greener" than the upper part. This is especially visible when brightness is set low (which I do when not outside, because it totally suffices).
Do more people have this problem?
Would returning the unit and getting a new OP3 make sense, or are these unevennesses typical??

I'm wondering if it's just an AMOLED thing... If it's really really bad then you may be better off RMA-ing it of course.

The findings on Anandtech have nothing to do with the quality and everything to do with the calibration, which is just software.
Hi, is it darker like the pics from my thread? I think I have the same issue on my display, just at the middle of the screen.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3/help/dark-line-oled-screen-t3402293
One thought came to me: In the upper half of the OP3 are the parts which get warm when the phone "works". Perhaps the part of the screen which is warmed up regularly loses a bit of green tint, while the lower, colder part remains as it is??? Just a thought...
I get a weird purpley/dark colour on greys and when scrolling white font on black background, but only on minimum brightness.
After reducing brightness below a threshold (just above the minimum) the colours across the display seem to shift
Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using XDA-Developers mobile app
I got my replacement phone today. And. The display is even more worse. The colors are uneven, like some of them have here. The bottom is greener and the top slighlty pinkier/the correct color.
Argh. That's what I'm afraid of (sent my device in for replacement on Saturday):
That, as a replacement, simply someone grabs a box with a new device and sends it to me, without testing.
Edios, what did you write in the service request as your reason why you want a replacement? Did you write about the display problems?
Welcome to the lottery...
Does anyone know: If the 2nd device also has a defect, and the 14 day return time since I got the 1st device is already over, can I demand from Oneplus that they take back the 2nd device and that I get my money back??

I didn't even mention the issues, Amazon immediately gave me a replacement.
The problem is, they provide only a single replacement and now insisting to give a refund. But I want this device cos there's no other device that I'm interested in. And it's out of stock also.
For what it's worth, these sound like typical AMOLED issues. There are long threads in the Galaxy S6, S7, etc. forums with people experiencing the exact same thing. AMOLEDs just seem to not be as consistent as LCDs in the quality control department and it's always just the luck of the draw whether you get one with green or pink tints or not.

S20( /+/Ultra) OLED - bad uniformity, too bright dark grays, green tint

Hi,
over in the ultra section, there is a thread about bad OLED uniformity and a green tint, which is really badly visible in dark environments e.g. in the dark grays used in many applications:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s20-ultra/help/green-tint-dark-background-low-t4065621
The attached picture of my display was made by zooming into the (uniform) 5% gray picture in a dark room with 25% brightness using an S10+. It is rather horrible and badly visible in normal usage.
Is anybody here expierencing the same issue? Please feel free to head over there, also, if it is not an Ultra.
Thanks and best regards,
Corwin
I have this problem too. I'm on my second S20+ now and it has problems too. I'll return both. It sucks.
That is really unfortunate. Thinking about trying another S20+ - but I think we should probably wait for later batches. I am also hoping for software optimizations, as it is better at 60Hz - but usually, nothing can be done about it.
How do you test for this ?
Sent from my SM-G986U using Tapatalk
For me, I did not need to test for it, as I noticed it right away the first time using it in a dark environment.
In this post is a 5% gray picture which can be used and instructions: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=82017239&postcount=17
I also had a bad uneven grey on my 512GB Ultra. Swapped for the S20+ and it's basically perfect. Good luck on the OLED lottery.
Mine does not have this problem. Is related to where the phone is marked for distribution? I'm on a US/Verizon handset.
Mine is also a US version. On ATT. Its just an OLED panel thing. Samsung used to have this issue a lot back in the S6 through S8. From S9 and Note 7 and on screens were great. I think with the new 120HZ screens the uniformity issues came back.

Exactly. Gotta be the 120hz thing.
If anyone has a really bad grey screenor not uniform. Return and reorder. Samsung customer care won't understand the issue so might as well just order a new one and hope you get a better one like I did.

should I be worried if my whole screen is green when showing this 5% picture in dark room? upper part of the screen seems to be slightly brighter green - it is my first samsung and I cannot find anywhere how ''good'' oled 5% should look like...
My opinion: Of you need the picture to see it and do not notice it or if it does not bug you, you are fine. If the display is uniform, whatever it is like, I think it is ok.

Absolutely!
I have the same issue, S20+ 5G Exynos
So how do you test this again? Using a dark grey picture with the brightness set to 5%?
ETA: NM, I read that wrong. I downloaded the image and tried it at 25% brightness. I'm not seeing the same thing? Is it meant to be dramatic to be able to notice if it's a bad panel? I'm seeing a normal display?
On number 5 I can say that it is finally bearable. It was manufactured on the second of march. I did not check with the rest. I only opened them, handled them delicately and checked them. All were terrible.
