So Far so Good Performance is good Net Speeds very good and doing as it should no surprises, not loaded with the usual Crud that appears, good clean rom
Tronsmart Vega S96 at present does not have root,
Upper and lower task bars that come and go as the user requires.
As Noticed, RTC battery to keep things on time nice touch,
Unsure about the Tin lids over Ram and CPU will investigate further, but so far so good.
Temp wise is pretty much on par with other units of late, Ram speed to to bad under test given.
Netflix looking ok for what we have here and Plex doing well.
We Know the plight of Kodi and the Pro's and con's FTMC the way to go.

Yep not bad Value at all working well indeed,
That was just the First release things may improve..

Actually, I was expecting better performance for this newest chipset. The overall Aututu score is only slightly higher than S905. Wonder about this tin lid (on top of the CPU and RAM) provides adequate cooling? Maybe the Aututu score would improve with better cooling.
Not sure if there will be any OTA firmware update for this box. In Tronsmart forum, there is no dedicated section for S96. Also, this S96 is not even listed in Tronsmart site. This does not look promising at all.
Update (10-Jan-2017): I stand corrected. My friend, who owns a S96, told me that he just updated its firmware via OTA. Firmware date is Jan-05-2017. Before the update, his Aututu overall score was 42157 but it after the update, it was reduced a bit to 41544.

I am glad there is a thread for this tv box at xda, since I am an owner of S96. I wonder, since there are other similar tv boxes with the same architecture, will their firmwares will work with this device?

Probably no but I personally would not do this because of the fear of bricking the box.
I used to own a Tronsmart S95 with bug-ridden firmware. Someone in Tronsmart forum did try and succeeded to install a Minix firmware. Later on, Minix did something in their firmware that disallowed installation in non-Minix boxes.
Did you experience any issues with your S96?

Yes, bluetooth problems - it doesn't turn on. Today I had to send the box back to the store for them to check it, because I am out of options in terms of how to make it work. Otherwise it is my first android tv box, but I wouldn't buy from tronsmart anymore.

Did you update to the latest firmware? Although the changelog did not mention BT,you should still try.

Yes, of course I did, but it didn't help it.

I called my friend who has been using a S96 for 2 months. He said he tried all the network features when he received the box. While he does not use BT at all, he did successfully pair his S96 with his Andriod cellphone.

Thank you, I think mine is probably broken. They'll either fix it, or replace it.

If I were you, I would return it. Hope you can still return it.
My friend just called me and apparently, there is another firmware update (dated Jan-11) for his S96. He called because while the download was successful, the update failed. I asked him to clear the cache partition, he did but the update still failed. Did you have any luck?

It is not working for anybody. There is something wrong with the server or with the OTA itself.

So, the problem must be the firmware then. Wonder if Tronsmart even bothered to test the OTA before releasing the firmware.
Problem is there is absolutely no support from Tronsmart at all.

There is option do to openelec or liberelec on this box?

Hmm ok what about anther rom ?

Hello all,
Thanks for the detailed review! Considering getting this box to replace my old Tronsmart NX. Good price on GeekBuying compared to Amazon ($99). Also I saw a firmware update was released on a few days ago (20170120). Seem there are three ways to install the update:
-Via OTA
-Via SD card
-Via PC using male-to-male USB
http://blog.geekbuying.com/index.ph...6-0-amlogic-s912-4k-tv-box-firmware-20170120/
EDIT
Just read on the Tronsmart forum users having issues with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, but seems to be before the January 11 firmware update.
http://forum.tronsmart.com/forum/vega-s95/2840-tronsmart-vega-s96#.WIgIvtRsO7Q

My friend has S96 and the latest firmware is dated Jan-11, not Jan-20.
As for the purchase, I would advice against Geekbuying. On top of the long shipping time, return is close to impossible. Even for a defective unit, they would want you to pay for shipping and insist on a tracking number. Shipping the product back will cost you $30-40 and will take weeks to get a new one.
I myself would buy from Amazon for quick shipping and peace of mind.

Good to know regarding the firmware..
Thanks for the advise. I have dealt with their RMA's twice. 1st time 3 years ago. At work they purchased some Tronsmart TV Box that went bad after 6 months, what a pain getting the RMA and personally a 2nd time with dash cam about a year ago that went bad after a week. I was sofa king mad especially when the post office wanted about $60 for shipping and tracking which I passed on the tracking. I had to pull teeth for the RMA but wasn't as bad as the 1st time. Personally I have purchased three items from them and one was defective. Shipping is about 4 weeks but yes I am leery of buying from them. Not sure if AliExpress is any better but Amazon is way safer for the extra money.

Sorry, just saw these, I didn't get the notices for a couple of these.
You probably don't need either of these adapters. There wouldn't be any difference in functionality for HTC and an iPhone compatible headset. For HTC, they are wired up the same (but different button configuration) to the iPhone, so the mic, sound, and the single button will work without an adapter.
If you have a Sony, Samsung, or others that follow the Nokia style of wiring things up, the iPhone headset adapter MK2 will make the sound come through normally and enable the mic and single button to work.
The MK1 works with anything, has a selection switch and allows you to use your sound only headphones as a handsfree with an action button.

The tooling is currently in progress, scheduled to finish June 6th. Assuming that everything comes out OK, we can start production that day and ship everyone's orders within the week, so before the 15th.
Depending on where you are located, we will be doing slightly different shipping methods. US, I'll probably send all the orders overnighted in a single large box(s) have them dropped off at USPS with tracking from there, and should arrive within a few days of the initial shipment.
I'm not sure if you received the update email (probably not if you are asking about when the ship date is), for everyone with an order in this batch, we will be giving you a 10% lifetime discount on future retail orders from Makible (not combinable with other discounts). Just email us when you make the future orders.
Cheers,
Jon

See the answer to the previous for details. The different adapters have specific applications. MK1 is for headphones that don't have the built in mic, the MK2 is to enable the mic, sound, and the single action button to work with specific phones (Samsung, Sony, and others that use the same pinout), but does not do anything for HTC phones.

Ok thanks. My brother ordered ibeats and he told me they didn't work on his thunderbolt. Then I remembered your product, thought it would help him out.
Guess he has another issue? Anyone know how to get them to work correctly? ( the ibeats)
Also I wish it was stated on the website when I ordered these that it would be delayed. Impatient buyer:/

Sorry if it wasn't clear, I'm currently just by myself with getting Makible launched, so the content on the site is probably not as clear as it could be. We are working on a real public site currently, and will have both the revised site and service in June. You will be able to post up ideas for products that you see a need for, partner up with developers to get it ready to produce, and then receive a profit share when there are orders.
I don't know if the buttons will work, with the exception of the single one. I think HTC uses different resistor values than Apple for the different buttons. I've not looked into it in much detail. I'll be interested to see if anyone else has other experiences.
It would be great if this remote and configuration of the headset pinout was standardized across all Android phones.

We will be running the production next week when I'm back in HK and will ship out right away.

No excuse, the email was sent out last night to the mailing list, so you should have received it along with the other 500 people that it was sent to.
The short version of the email:
We are starting production this week, and will start shipping this week.
All of this first production will finish within the next week and all orders will be shipped by then.
We are doing well as a company and will be doing some really cool stuff, thanks for your support.
Regarding the PayPal refund, I've issued a refund to anyone who decides they do not want to wait, and will happily continue to do so. I've looked up "bowtieduece" in both the PayPal and my email records and can not come up with anything, so you will have to give me the benefit of a private message or email me at jon.buford (at) makible.com to be able to resolve the situation.
And just in case you think this is all just a bunch of words, please check out the pre-production photos:

What bugs me the most is you have a tab that says buy it now on your website, follow that link and throughout the checkout process there is no indication that you have no product in stock.

So far, you are the first one to give this feedback, thanks. We are rolling out the new site in the next couple of weeks which will have better detailed info on delivery time as part of the product info. This first site is just a test site, so it is a bit rough around the edges. We are also building up the team slowly, so that we will be able to put more time into both improving your experience while keeping the business and production sides running smoothly.
I still haven't received your message regarding your order, so I'll assume that everything else is OK at the moment.

so this was shipped on oct 8th, received oct 23rd in toronto, canada.
i'm using stock rom, canadian galaxy s3.
pros:
seems like it's doing what it's suppose to, no glitches of images or anything like that. i've tried some games, HD youtube and music all worked. no need for "warm up" like some of the other MHL adapters seem to require. no lags while playing videos
cons:
- responsiveness - i'm not sure if i'm just picky or if it's just unrealistic to expect these MHL adapters to be perfect. i do notice that when i scroll around, there's a bit of a drag. not that it's not responsive, but the transition effects just arent as good on the TV as it is on the phone. i noticed it too during dead trigger, it's responsive..but just not super smooth like it is on the phone. if you guys turn on the power saving mode on your phone, that drag that you notice? that's almost what it's like.
- charging - does not charge the phone while playing videos
- signal - completely loses signal when in use
feel free to ask any questions.
Seems like a great deal! I'm hoping someone tries to see if they work properly

I'll report back after I get it. Hopefully it's good
Should have it around October 11th.
Be aware that the one from the last ebay link is FAKE!
Most of them don't even work, so keep that in mind....

I searched through like 50 pages on eBay and decided on this one (it's a shop that supplies cords and stuff like that)
http://www.ebay.com/itm/251151442464?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
They are littered across eBay but like I said, he had good feedback and it's a cord supplier.
You think it's fake?

haha damn i usually give up after 6 pages.
anyways, why this seller? there are a lot of other sellers from china who are selling the same cable but with a lot more positive feedbacks compare to this one you posted.
and i dont think the other user meant to say the one in the 2nd link is fake. we all know it's an after market adapter, just that we haven't seen very positive reviews. with that said, someone did buy a MHL adapter that LOOKS like the one in the 2nd link, and the seller he bought from claimed that it's suppose to be a genuine samsung MHL adapter.
going back to the red one, i haven't seen any reviews so far so sorry can't help you there. i'm just waiting for a US seller to carry them so i don't have to wait 2-3 weeks for shipping from china.
It is going back

yea i saw your post before. instead of posting the link to a MHL adapter that looks like the one you bought...i think it'd be more helpful to other users if you post the actual link of where you got your MHL adapter from
interestingly tho today we finally have 1 positive review for a similar looking mhl adapter
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=31994952&postcount=36
hey everyone, im trying to collect all the links to the MHL adapter reviews because there are so many threads around. i am NOT looking for the ones that talks about using the 11 to 5pin converter, just strict microUSB for gs3 to HDMI female port.
i gone thorugh 8 pages of threads and so far found 3. the rest that talked about having proeblsm are the ppl that are using the converters.
if you find something just post it in this thread and i'll copy it to the first post.

Any news about the Swr50 Metal?

Does anyone have any news about the Metal version? Like more pictures? [emoji2]
Things I know:
- Release date around 15 January 2015?
- Pre-order everywhere
- Price €240 - €310
- Color will probably Black metal
- Not sure if the band will be sold separately. Was not the case with SW2..
Preordered mine at Amazon.de for €243.

just did a search again in hope i find something new about the precious metal version. But nothing new comes up.
just always the sentence "Metal version will hit the shelves/be available Mid November" maybe they are right. Amazon.de wasnt even bothering to show the release date on the Black Rubber Version, i just tried to order one on wednesday, and the confirmed the delivery for Friday( Today ) but i canceled the order right away, since i want the Metal one.
perhaps the refrain from actually posting a release date since the failed Moto360 Launch, delivery for a Moto360 on Amazon.de is somewhere between 1 to 2 Months
So i hope we have the Metal one in our hands somewhere around end November.

I did the same. I pre ordered the black one but canceled it because I want to see the metal one first, especially because it's not sure if it will be possible to order only the metal band without the watch unit.
But I assume mid november is not a realistic release date since we haven't even seen some official pictures or any information of the metal version yet. I expect metal version will be out late December or even early 2015.

I also hope I'm wrong with December but if Sony had already started the production of the metal band, which must be the case if we would see a release next week, then we would already have seen some pictures of it but there's not even been one official product pictures released yet.

guess you are right, but still. maybe they are just to lazy to show us pictures, i don't recall sonys enthusiasm for advertising. in fact the only ads for mobile devices i always see are the one from that apple conglomerate. But no other manufaturer. still you are right with your prognosis.
IF the want to sell mid November. Production mus be in full motion and the finished product must have been long advertised on the official Sony webpage.
Today I tried a SWR50 Black plastic unit on, in Saturn Düsseldorf... I did hesitate to buy it, but didn't [emoji24] Only because of the metal band.
Price was €229.
Nice watch!
Nice rubber band (want that band aswell)
Nice screen
Good size
But still just want the metal one [emoji6]
It could indeed take some more time. The guy in Saturn told me that other bands for the SW2 took a long tqime too.. I have to be more patient then.[emoji35]

Nope, thats why I try not to think about smartwatches too much [emoji6] and just wait a month.
Hopefully sony will add a HRM in the metal version[emoji12] Lol. I like the features of the Microsoft Band aswell.. But i don't like the watch itself.
Good thing is there will be less bugs and more apps ready for us when the metal SWR50 is coming out. Maybe even a watch with longer battery life and HRM on board.
Positive thinking!

This is from user guide:
The GPS tracking accuracy may be affected by condensation building up between the device and the user’s wrist. To avoid such an impact, regularly check for and clean away any moisture.
And metal is known to shield signals, so 2+2 and I wonder how the metal strap will affect GPS performance.
The stock black band isn't too beautifull, maybe different bands can make smartwatch 3 a little more graceful

Is this one plus for real?!

Hey guys,
I'm about to buy a one plus 3 from a guy which is selling it extremely cheap and I would like to ask you guys, in what ways I could check if the device is real and not just a replica and also if It's not stolen. I will meet with the guy today so I would appreciate everything you tell me test on the device before making the purchase. I already asked him for the picture of the invoice.. now I'm waiting for his reply.

I saw you comment and first off I'd like to say its already a chinese branded phone and very modest company, not your usual suspects for making "Phoney." (pun intended) Also I do not own the phone yet, but since you're cautious I'll still help you out.
When I buy phones from untrusted/unknown parties I always meet them in very open public places and look them in the eye when they're talking, looking for signs of anxiety or hesitation.
Now onto the phone itself:
pop the sim tray out make sure there are 2 slots (real oneplus 3 has 2 slots). okay
Go to settings> about phone check the imei with this: https://swappa.com/esn (its free and trusted site)
pop one of my sim cards in and make a phone call. go back to settings> about phone and check the baseband, model number, build number etc. and make sure they are correct/up to date.
go to the camera (usually the stock app) and I test photos and videos.
turn on bluetooth and make sure it searches for my headset which i have on at the time.
Open a web browser and see how fast the app opens and open multiple tabs and different websites in each.
For a phone like this I would feel the quality of the build because most knock-offs just don't feel like "real"
and LAST but not LEAST go to settings> security and check the fingerprint sensor, (how fast it esponds, if it responds at all, nothing is for sure but chances are very slim that a knock-off company is putting a high quality fingerprint system in a knock-off phone. I do all of this while talking to him/her about how the yankees are really sucking this year, and telling them my fantasy football team is better than theirs by a long shot.
I sure hope this helps :fingers-crossed:
Check the Android version. If it says Nougat, then it is obviously a fake one.
Thank you! Isn't there an app that can check if the phone is real? Like all the internals and camera module? I heard there's one with the name similar to AIDA..
Also, could anyone post the latest settings page where I can see the latest build/baseband and so on, please?
Thank you all

You could easily get 300 euro for OP3 so for me the real question is (and it should be your question as well) Why would the seller throw away 150 euro? Why would anybody do that? Nobody would unless something is wrong.

Looks real. Exactly like mine did whwn I got it. But what's to say that's what you will receive. Especially at half price.
Buy using a reputed site and pay using a known payment method.
That way if you do get cheated will have some way to get your money back.

Benefit to move from Android 9 to Android 10 on a Dasaita MAX6 unit?

Hey!
What are the benefits or +/- to upgrading my Android 9 MAX6 Dasaita unit to Android 10? It seems the best way to do this is via HalK9 mod? Thanks for any input.

Almost none, new bugs. If you're new to these, I'd absolutely suggest leaving the device alone if it's working OK.
If a bigger number is what you want, the best free way / factory way is via OTG.

Thanks. I had updated to the newest version for my MAX6 PX6 on Android 9 but that update started to cause issues with Zlink for CarPlay. I thought that with android 10 it would do updates over the air for Zlink and thus hopefully be able to download newer versions to fix issues. For the most part everything is working the Zlink just disconnects after about 30-45 minutes of use.
Also, what is OTG? (I'll do a search to find out more.)

If using zlink as primary, You're might be better off with a genuine Android Auto Unit.
Personal opinion: zlink is trouble, it is an app Chinese designed and manufactured greybox resellers use as a marketing carrot; users will be forever chasing updates as Google and Apple update their devices and block third party apps like zlink.

Of course your flagship reputable vendor phone is running Pie "for good reasons" mainly, security updates.
Consider that devices are not phones and the upgrade usually does not improve performance on these devices.
Also, the OS/Source is modified by the factory and can be different to standard Android, such as Bluetooth, which performs poorly.
If the device is working, there's usually no advantage in upgrading, unless there's an app compatibility issue.
Thanks for sharing, really interesting topic!

Pie is simply a better OS regardless of the device. Of course each company can screw it up or enhance it as they see fit up to a point.
Security updates... haven't had one in over a year. No worries.

I have had both 9 and 10. Virtually no difference.
These aren't TRUE android upgrades on these Chinese units. They are fairly butchered to accommodate a lot of custom software, which BTW is NOT updated along with the android operating systems. In the long run you're probably asking for more trouble than it is worth in doing an upgrade.

Thanks again. I had to do a factory reset on my Android 9 Dasaita PX6 MAX6 and the Zlink for CarPlay onmy iPhone is working now again. You mention a "Genione Android Auto Unit". Can you give an example? I thought Dasaita was one but maybe I am missing something. Admittedly, I have never used Android as I have always been on Apple, hence, my search for a CarPlay compatible device for my Nissan.

Genuine AA: https://www.android.com/auto/compatibility/#compatibility-stereos
These greyboxes, such as sold by reseller dasaita are best suited to enthusiasts who accept issues. They are an Android cobbled to work as a car stereo, again they are not Android Auto, nor are they carplay.
I wish these Chinese origin head units were complete, working according to what they claim.
The reality is they they are inconsistent quality, bugs remain unresolved, ported to later releases.
I would say shyte quality, but fun for enthusiasts, but saying shyte would be inappropriate.

The chinese resellers claim the greyboxes interface well with vehicles via a canbus box, the reality is often accepting a compromise (according to posts in the forums, I don't use a canbus connected device)

T for the feedback. I’ve been mostly pleased so far and just knowing what to expect is helpful from the options available under current conditions. I didn’t understand the part about “I don’t use a carbon connected device”???
I wouldn't say these head units interface to the car very well. They "interface" but not all that well. They do this with a minimal set of features and/or capability that never will be updated by the Chinese manufacturer. They're more likely to remove features and capabilities for various reasons.
For example, factory TPMS data, my SYGAV/DASAITA head unit will show the tire pressure data from the factory sensors but the values are shown in KPA instead of PSI. I asked about the possibility of them updating the software to display in PSI and their claim was "they can't." On an older, same branded head unit the TPMS data was shown in PSI. I believe they removed the functionality just to sell their TPMS sensors even though the data can be provided by the factory sensors.
Anyway that's the reason I am in software pursuit of being able to read what data I can from the canbus. I believe there's lots of data that could be read but isn't being displayed or used anywhere. Even if that TPMS data is delivered on the canbus in KPA, it's easy enough to mathematically convert to PSI for instance.

Auto correct should read "I don't use a CANBUS connected device"

There are ways around that. Other programs are available from the google app store which can collect and display all your can bus data including tire pressure.
I use Torque Pro with a USB obd2 adapter. (My right front is displaying 0.0 because the sensor is broken)

You can even change the data being displayed and they way it's being display. It also gives you the ability to flip to a different page to display more data
Good suggestion, thank you. I have a Bluetooth OBD2 adapter and use torque pro app. But can torque show TPMS data? Torque is a good alternative if you want gauge data and diagnostic information.
Edit: I see in your screenshots indeed TPMS is available
What I have in mind would acquire and use many different pieces of data from the Canbus adapter provided with the radio. Again the Dasaita app will show TPMS data from the Toyota sensors so definitely it's available without having to bring in additional hardware. It's mainly a matter of listening for the broadcasted Android intents and decoding the data supplied with those intents.
Edit: Even if torque is able to display the data I'm looking for, I still plan to pursue development of my own app mainly for my own education if nothing else.
@Bob_Sanders which USB OBD2 adapter do you use? I've not found the TPMS data available with the Bluetooth adapter I have and that's why was maybe under the false impression that it wasn't possible with torque. Maybe I'm just using a less capable OBD2 adapter perhaps.
