The warranty is from the date of purchase. So if someone bought it a month ago, they still have a valid warranty for another year.

Depending on laws in country of purchase. In our country is 24 months warranty for every product and all accesories packed in.

So this is the additional thread I had suggested for discussing all the topics that clutter the official "Android Wear 2.0 for SmartWatch 3 port progress" thread.
This thread is meant to discuss any topic accompanying the AW2.0 port for Sony SW3 so that the main development thread doesn´t get cluttered as it was in the past. I hope people use this thread and keep the development thread clean.
Examples for discussions are:
Wild discussions about ETA
Discussions about what the port means for warranties
Discussions about future battery life of SW3
And many more topics (above are only examples of what´s possible
Any active developer on the main thread may jump in here and comment on any discussion.
Please be nice to each other. No insulting, flaming, trolling...
It would be great if we could all behave like adults (or at least pretend to do so ).
The progress thread for the port can be found here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/smartwatch-3/general/android-wear-2-0-smartwatch-3-port-t3562129

So, I held off adding off topic stuff to the main thread for AW2.0 on Sony SW3.
I bought my SW3 maybe a month ago, because even after 2-3 years, it still looked as if it were the best option compared to my beloved Pebbles.
My Pebble time steel got replaced in the middle of last year when its battery died (actually, the battery got hot to a degree that I would probably have gotten burns from it). Once I saw a post of someone in the Pebble forums who had worn his time steel while sleeping and who got a big huge burn blister on his arm, I stopped wearing mine and was looking for a new watch.
Long story short (I could go on if you want to read it though....):
I looked into the Vector watches, but they were bought by Fitbit, too, so I´ve checked Android wear once again. I had a Moto 1. Gen once, but the battery didn´t even keep up for one work day.
With Sony SW3 being at about 2 days battery life, I decided on it, knowing that it may not get AW2.0.
I don´t regret buying it, even if AW2.0 doesn´t make it on my watch for whatever reason.
I just wondered if anyone followed up on older watches running AW2.0 previews and who can shed some light what it could mean for battery life.
I´d be ok if my watch battery doesn´t last as long as it does now (almost 3 days), but I would want 2 days at least. This gives me a nice time frame with enough left over power so that I don´t have to worry that the watch could die before day´s end.
I want my watch to show the time first (and I love the reflective always on display) and my notifications. The rest for me is nice to have, but I don´t need it. The "little" Google watch seems nice, but at 240mAh, first reviews indicate that it won´t be better than my first Moto 1.
And a watch needs to be a watch. Means for me that I don´t want to make calls on it and that it needs to be way smaller than a brick.

Thanks, that is really good idea, other thread was really getting derailed every 5 minutes. I hope mods will declutter that thread and move all offending posts here.
According to reddit, last 2.0 developer previews did not cause any significant battery duration changes compared to 1.x versions. But on the other hand, both LG watches (only watches that run final 2.0 at the moment), experience wildly inconsistent battery life (some say it is very good, some say it really sucks).
Regarding warranties, you can still lock back the bootloader in the end and hope that they don't notice you tinkered with it. I'm not sure whether there even is permanent switch that shows bootloader has ever been unlocked, so I think everyone will be fine. The alternative is being stuck with an old dead OS, so IMO benefits outweigh warranty. Plus quality control on Sonys seem to be pretty good (There are usually a lot of posts about people complaining that their watch/phone/laptop/whatever has broken, but I have not seen any for SW3), so there is less chance you will need warranty.

Yup, like I had posted before. I want the new firmware, but don´t care about warranty too much (unless the watch would break within a couple of months). Before smartwatches, I bought a new watch about every 1-2 years anyways. In terms of price, I think they were around 120 bucks in average. So not really as expensive as a smartwatch. I like having options and when I feel the watch gets old or I want to have something new, I usually go for it. Same with my glasses which usually run around 500-1000 every 2 years, depending on the frame I choose. But glasses alone (without the frame) usually cost about 300-400. I don´t spend too much on other stuff (dining, clothes, cars), so getting some gadgets every now and then doesn´t break the bank. But it´s a matter of what´s important to you. Electronic stores today try to sell additional insurances, but I actually had never a gadget break on its own
If it broke, it was usually my fault and mostly I handle my toys carefully.
So back to the battery. If the watch lasts 2-3 days like it does now, I´m more than happy and I still think it´s the best compromise in terms of size, features and battery. Pebble was great as long as it lasted, but I couldn´t read the display with my glasses off.
For that I used the ttmm watchfaces, and I made a similar one on Facer, and I can read SW3 with this watchface better when I wake up at night as compared to the smaller size screen on Pebble.
Uuuh. I have to keep my posts shorter But then again, this is why I made this thread, right?

Haha, now I was really confused. A mod must have moved comments from the dev thread to here, but the posts are right on top of everything else. If any mod is reading this, is it possible that posts that were moved are at least below the initial thread post, so that people know what this thread is about? Thanks.

It'll be the timestamps of the posts that cause this issue, your thread was created as a reaction to the off topic posts so when they're moved it screwed it up

Duh. That´s bad.
Well well. Then I guess that it is like it is

Okay I've told once about the TA partition thingy and I found some things out
At first:
It knows which firmware you flashed when, so they also get if you reflashed your FW to another version
Again every TA is unique as every SmartWatch and uses a SerialKey (same of your device)
Then the really bad thing: It knows when you unlocked the bootloader and that detailed
And idk if it's result of UB but the most of the TA partition is just written full of FF and 00 so no real DRM keys

Then the warranty is fully void if we unlock the bootloader

If a community rom would support stuff like custom roms on phones? Especially like functions that usually don´t come in regular stock roms. I think of something like automating flight and screen mode based on time of day.
With the 2-3 day battery, I like using my watch as my first alarm clock to wake me gently before my real alarm clock goes off, so I´m wearing it during the night, but I don´t need the screen on or notifications during the night. And it preserves battery.
E.g. on my phone, I love using the volume rocker to skip music while the screen is off. Or maybe adjust vibration settings. Stock just isn´t strong enough, so I use a separate app to have the watch shake 3 times instead of only once. But this only works for phone app notifications.

Functionality with iPhone
I would like to use my sw3 as a run tracker paired with an iPhone. There currently doesn't seem to be a way to use the GPS when paired with an iPhone. It looks like there will be some increased functionality for iOS users in aw2 but does anyone know of a way to load a running app like Runkeeper to sw3 with aw 1.x? Thanks in advance.

I have a question about theatre mode , whenever I enable it , the screen goes off for a few seconds and comes back to an always on display mode , but rest is same , unless I press the side button it won't wake up ....
Is this regular or is it a bug ?

You could look into tasker or similar apps. The problem is, those apps may use more battery power than leaving the watch as normal. However, they should be able to control the settings for you. You may need root to do so as well.

few annoying things in WP7.5

1. autohide battery, wifi and signal - any chance to turn it off?
2. battery percentage on statusbar (I'm not interested in Battery Status)
3. threading all emails with no subcject (gmail), even from different people (please don't tell me to turn off conversations)
My device is htc mozart, full unlocked. WP7 is best os I ever had but these few things are really bad.
deleted
1. It will show you the signal status whenever you lost it, so if you cant see, means you have signal. Wifi just shows when you are connecting or connection is lost. Battery same. It will pop up when you need to worry about.
2. Dont know why, but you cant have battery percentage.
3. Never had this problem. I use conversation mode and it doesnt thread when not from the same people.
No OS is perfect. A lot more is coming with WP8, so hope those little details get revamped.

1. No. Metro is all about cleaner and minimal looks. No clunky interface that eats away your screen. Tap and it drops down for you, hides again.
2. No. Unless you want to go to battery saver for an estimate.
3. Threading works by subjects, not by person at the moment like in Outlook. In Outlook you can thread by sender or subject. Currently it threads by subject. If I send out an email, I make sure my subjects are unique for each type of convo.
Over all, these are generic features. Suits some tastes, bothers some, doesn't even get noticed by most.
But for an os that wants us to get as much information as possible as efficiently as possible I think it is going overboard to not show signal bars and battery. But an arrow pointing to the right is important?
Maybe it is an opportunity for someone to do a live tile for this.
1. ok, I didn't know that icon will show up when I lost signal, great, one problem solved.
2. detail, maybe it's not so important, but it would be nice to see pecentage
3. Oh, come on! It's fcked up! When sb send me email with no subject (very often) all emails are in same thread.
I think the problem is people who send you an email without subject. LOL
Unbelievable lazy people.
The guy is right you cant group emails my subject.

Wtf is wrong with you people?! These are just some minor things somewhat youre making a big deal out of.
From the lockscreen you will see your signal bar and battery life, when youre in the os, then just tap at top. Sure it's an extra step but it does hides away the ugliness.
If your phone is fully unlocked then why not get the battery status app floating around here in xda?!
Turn off conversations. Sheez, if your "friends" are too lazy to put on a subject then just turn off conversations, that way you'll get the newest email right on top!
The right arrow is there to point out that you can scroll to the left or tap on the arrow to reveal another column and see all your apps.
Jesus! Grab some common sense people, oh wait unfortunately it isn't so "common".

That has to be one of the best 'tellings off' I've seen in a while.
Personally I love the status bar auto-hide. I like the fact that they give you as much of the screen as they can for viewing your page/app ect. Shows you status when it needs to (change in connection ect), then gets out of your way instead of taking up space constantly. Ever need to check it? Just a quick swipe down from top or tap.
As far as the battery percentage & conversation view changes: Perhaps these will be options in Apollo later this year. I know the battery percentage is one many would like.
@up:
1. but I dont want to. I just want to see it without any additional steps.
2. I have battery status, but I have to unlock, and waste 1 space on screen, or slide and turn on BS from menu, waste of time - i just want battery percentage near the clock
3. I have to turn off. But on iOS or android I don;t had such problems.
I think that you are too fustrated, calm down man, I'm not blind. I see bad things in WP7 and I'm trying to fix it.

For someone who feels 'a tap' is additional steps - Android is the answer.
I think genuine annoyance is: Threading other two are just personal choices. Did you not try the phone before you bought it? If you are still under the cooling off period, best thing is to swap it for a similar specs Android and use Launcher7 if you like the idea of tiles.
Ok, so if I knew it's not possible I have to just shut up and tell everybody how great is WP7?

No one is asking you to shut up and tell how great WP7 is.
Only if you used the search button on the top right, you would have already come across much more informative threads that have already mentioned how WP is different than other OS.
Not few years ago but since the birth of XDA the tag line has been "Search first, then ask" - so if you have been following XDA for a few years and seeing how professionals have fixed things, you would know how to use the search too. The reason one needs to shut up will only be because reiterating what is not available and saying how it's annoying proves nothing but trolling.
You said you want battery percentage -Now the "professionals" made the app, the live tile and a workaround to do that. But ofcourse, you are not interested as you say in your first post. This IS NOT android. The system is secure and limited to any sort of development. So you WONT get the percentage next to your clock. You would have known this just by a simple search on XDA.
The "tap to view" - is NOT an annoying bug. This is EXACTLY how Microsoft wanted this FEATURE to be. This is what suits the Metro UI's concept. You are saying 'but I don't want to tap'. Fine, we understand, everyone does. But this is a feature. If you want to tweak it, it can be done. Probably someone will help you tweak the registry to stop the autohide.
I agree, as I said before the threaded one is a bug. It should thread irrespectively especially when you say you've seen iOS and Android thread it correctly even without the subjects.
All that said, once again, if you use the search button you will find at least 5 threads in this very forum which talks about the 'limitations' and how the OS isn't perfect. Also, you say "few years ago professional fixed the things WE DONT like in the devices" - but here probably isn't it the case of "I don't want to tap to see the batter, I don't want to use 'professionally' developed Battery Status"?
Yes, such a waste.

This is so true..... No phone is perfect for everyone. As long as it works good for your needs, and you can live with the little things, it's fine...
1. Not a big deal to me, I like it hidden, because I dont always care to know what is connected and what's not. It notifies me when I get disconnected and it's always a touch away.
2. Battery status, This has always bothered me on every phone I had, WM 6.5was the only one I liked due to a 3rd party hack. I like it on the status bar but, wish it would show a true % vs a 5 step iccon.
3. It's very rare that I get an email with no subject, teach your friends on how to do email correctly (or put their small message in the subject instead of the body). That is not a product design, that is a friend/worker problem.
No Phone is perfect for everyone....and WP7 is no acception....

Basically yes. WP7 fans usually praise the OS no matter what limitations it has. It's very hard to discuss those things here. Instead of agreement that it is unfinished people will tell you that it's your fault. But it happens everywhere and occassionally drives me nuts.
WP7 is perfect for people who don't do much with the phone.
If you're inclined into real control of the device and customization possibilities, Android is the way. WP7 is dumb in many ways and will stay like that for some time.

Oh, pull your head out, will you.
We don't claim WP7 to be perfect, like iOS users do. We've chosen to accept its flaws and we expect that anyone who's got such petty complaints of the OS to have actually read the criticism of the OS, which are in plenty.
Look at the argument that ensued over BT file sharing. Seriously, the guy is throwing a fit that none of us agree that it is a major issue. It's not a problem with Nokia, but is a shortcoming of the WP7. Come to think of it, does iOS natively support BT filesharing?
Again... I'm a rational fanboy. I've chosen to enjoy WP7 rather than ***** and moan about it. There are things about it that I don't care for, but I've decided to focus on what I DO like instead.
It's like the difference between a good movie with slight plot holes vs. an ok movie. If the story interests me enough, I'm willing to overlook the plot holes so that I can enjoy the film. A different movie, one where there's nothing that makes me care about any of the characters, isn't worth me overlooking its shortcomings in order to appreciate it.
WP7 is my good movie with some holes in the story.

Well looking at your history here, probably you didn't experience this WP7 forum since it's beginning on fall/winter 2010.

[Q] Are you affected by the "grip of life" (WIFI Issues)

In case you haven't noticed, the HTC One X has a WIFI issue. More details here: click me
Simply put, to get a better gauge of the problem, do you suffer from this "grip of life"?
not yet but I only got it for 4 wks, supposedly it can take around 6-8wks before the problems become apparent
I have two Tegra HOXs. Neither has the WiFi issue (yet?).
One I've had since May 2. The other since June 1. The original phone does have f***ed GPS though.

I do not have the issue, clicked yes by mistake. Didn't read properly, sorry. Have a SH model.
Keep in mind that with 1K votes 70% of people deem their device as "perfect." For that to be true I'd assume working Wi-Fi was part of their judging criteria. A lot of people have stopped participating in the forum because of all the emotionalism so I'd imagine this poll will be skewed toward the complainers. I've stopped contributing because it gets tedious slogging through all the "OMG! can you believe it!" posts that repeat incessantly driven by the vocal minority.
After a month of having no problems at all with my hox the wifi signal got worser by the day. I can only get a proper signal by squeezing it
HTC is picking it up for repairs tomorrow
Mine is a HT23 with CID: HTC__001 so it's the generic unbranded model. It was perfect until about a week ago, when I got the sudden overheating problem, since then the WiFi is fooked. Across my apartment where I used to have full signal (obviously), now only the bottom dot is lit up on the signal meter and while it doesn't drop the connection, it's noticeably slower than before. Of course the 'grip' works, the signal does improve a lot while I'm squeezing the screen.
Not a happy camper let me tell y'all.
I could send it back for repair, but now that the problem is acknowledged there will be thousands of devices sent back and it will be weeks (if not months) before I get it back which I'm not at all happy with and not willing to accept. (Not to mention it'll come back with the newest firmware, and I was deliberately holding off the updates until the S-OFF guys say it's safe to upgrade, I'm still on 1.26 with hboot 0.43.) If they said it's one week I'd probably say OK but looking at 2-3 or more, I think I'll just open it up and fix it myself.
I'll stop short of saying 'this is my last HTC' or things like that, but after spending 2 years with the Desire absolutely problem free, the apparent shortcomings of quality control on the HOX did get me thinking.
Having the problem, too.. Will send it in few days to HTC Repair Center...

I wonder how many of those who said "no defect" early on in their ownership of the phone would vote the same way today.
I said "no defects" in that particular poll, but then after voting learned my GPS had gone bad (or was bad all along and hadn't noticed it). I'd go back and change my answer, but it won't let me.
That said, I agree, most of the folks without issues stay away from forums, so you always get a bit of bias towards the negative in these types of discussion.
Fault developed last week on my Tegra 3 One X in the UK. Phone being sent for repair.
I use wifi of my One X (ht23) most of the day for two months and I never had any problem. Fast and stable.

Totally agree... I also voted "no defect"... Ive had a replacement and my second HOX is at repair as we speak "WiFi" so +1 id also go back and change my answer!
Mine's being sent back this week, Tegra 3 One X, has been fine in first month of ownership (it's a replacement itself anyway) but the wifi has been really crappy for the last couple of weeks. Have installed a new dual band router and moved it twice trying to improve the reception upstairs in my house thinking the problem was there, ha, foo', it's the One.
I've got no pirated software or root stuff on my device, it's stock, but am not looking forward to setting it all up again. Do they wipe it or just threaten that to exclude modders from warranty repairs?
These kind of polls aren't representative and thereby useless. First of all, XDA members are way more tech savvy than the average customer, meaning that the slightest defect or imperfection gets noticed, resulting in a more than average number of defects or problems. Second and more important, if you have this problem and you notice it, you go searching online and you end up in on of these threads. There you click on the poll and the results of the poll are completely overestimating the problem, because people who don't have these problems are far less likely to vote or to even visit these forums and topics.
So to say it again: these kind of polls are useless!

If they're useless, then why do you bother even opening the thread, let alone taking the time to lecture people on why they're useless?
Sure, these polls are skewed, but they help someone determine if it's "just me" or a commonly shared problem. That's useful information for people, even if the actual percentage of defects is in the general population is wrong.
Let the people who want to do these polls have their fun. How does it harm you or anyone else?

Judging by the number of topics and posts about the WiFi problem, people can already find out that they're not alone with their problem. I know how frustrating that can be, I had to send my phone back for repair twice. But these kind of topics serve little purpose.

And exactly what purpose do your multiple posts saying these topics serve little purpose serve? Do you really think they're going to get people to stop? If they're out of line, let the moderators handle it.
Again, if you think they're pointless, skip 'em, ignore 'em, move on...
If you don't like seeing them in the thread listings, head over to the xda general section and chime in on my ages old thread suggesting that we be allowed to "ignore thread" the same way can "ignore user".
Cheers.
2 months. No problem. Wifi performance and range better than my former iPhone 4

new 2018 phone, but does it Treble?

i understand the concept started in 2017, but for longevity and support, it really should have started with full Treble support.
maybe a few more rounds of hardware design refinement first (like proper usb-c compatibility and complete standard mobile feature set, maybe camera that can swivel front to back if they only put in one, and some way to use the touchscreen without opening the clamshell like maybe i dunno a slider style instead?)
and software refinement (like not including the MTKlogger spyware the FTC scolded BLU and ADUPS about earlier this month) but they get awesome points for their releasing source codes so quickly unlike the usual suspects, and even more bonus points for the linux dual boot as well.
this is all based on the reviews. (edit: and forum posts by users at oesf)
anyway, i'm looking forward to the next gen version of this to replace my CM KK Relay slider finally.

 that saying does not apply in this situation.
i've already looked through many pictures, read through multiple reviews across the web, read forum posts (here and oesf which has a running list of known issues) from people who have used the product.
basic science: "does it replicate? yes".
anyone that has done sufficient research on a topic will find that others have already performed the same studies and reached the same conclusions, so no need to repeat the process as it has already been verified.
anyway, back to waiting for the next gen version with the first round awkwardness worked out.
meanwhile, the "gpd win 2" that kept getting mentioned in comparison (though not android mobile device) seems kinda interesting. hopefully a "gemini 2" is a similarly notable improvement compared to the first as i'm much more a fan of Sliderrrsss.

Boy, you sure are a...douche
The GPD Pocket and Win2 are complete crap compared to the Gemini. I couldn't even browse the internet without major slowdowns and stuttering on the Pocket. The CPU is simply too underpowered for anything legitimate.
You're the expert though, keep holding out for the next gen sweetheart.

y u mad bro? insert actually applicable saying about insults being the refuge of etc.
it is generally considered common for most tech to not get things perfect on the first iteration, instead pushing alpha or beta quality something out the door that people can see, to get more money, research, field testing, and do it better the next time.
(this is why mission critical businesses tend towards the "i'll wait for sp1 to come out before upgrading the OS" mindset exists)
so if you were personally involved in the production of the device and decided to take offense, then i'm super sorry if your feelings got hurt. but you seem to be in a grumpy mood so i hope you have a good rest of your day though :fingers-crossed:
anyway, i'm gonna point the Relay users to keep an eye on this company, since they look likely to produce a promising mobile replacement (unlike the "gpd win 2", which is the only gpd device i mentioned, as i already stated is not a comparable mobile product, like apples to oranges, laptops to mobiles lolz).
(edit for typos)

Gotta love fools with 8 posts and no experience with a device to come in and give expert commentary.

I just got my Redmi Note 5 (global) and no manual, not even online?

Well, I got my Redmi Note 5 Global (model #: M1803E7SH) just a couple of hours ago and was shocked that there was no manual or documentation for it, not even online! WTF? Never heard of this before. Packaging looked cheap, and after updating the OS I've already encountered a bug - when I run the Compass program in Tools it superimposes the camera viewfinder over the compass, even obscures it unless I tilt the phone in landscape mode then the compass shows on screen. Nothing major but first impressions can mean a lot. Where can I get documentation for the M1803E7SH? Or does Xiaomi expect us to just know everything intuitively? I'm getting my Red Pocket SIM within the next couple of days and I hope not to discover anymore surprises. A slightly disappointing start.
It's $200 phone what did you expect? If you want manual for your phone you can buy a low spec phone that is worst for the higher price. Then you will get noob friendly manuals and tutorials maybe even a CD LOL!
Important and to late for you since you updated the rom read this thread: -
Everything About Anti Roll-back [Whyred]
Also read some more threads on these forums or the Xiaomi Reddit Wiki.
And maybe the official forums (filled with one line stupid posts).
And for user manual have not download it myself, it maybe just the slip of paper that came in the box.
To corkiejp:
"anti-rollback" sounds ominous, like I hit some terrible point of no return when I updated. Thanks, I'll read the topic(s). I find the phone fast and snappy so at least there's that. Maybe even faster than my Asus ZenPad, which had terrible battery management. Fingerprint lock scanner works perfectly. I half-expected to get locked out of my own phone on the first day due to major malfunction. or gargantuan bug. lol.
Yeah, I don't think there's a manual for this... anywhere. Your link points to a "Coming Soon!" place holder. I'll just have to read a bunch of online sources. Pathetic that we the users have to write the documentation for Xiaomi for one of their own products.
To that smart-ass posting above you: for $200, it's madness not to expect at least some kind of manual or Quick Start guide. Don't know where he gets his logic from that for $200 you shouldn't expect a manual :silly:
ETA: Also wanted to add an example of why there should be a manual for this. I can just imagine all the poor bastards that chased their tails for hours wondering why they couldn't get the procedure for registering a Fingerprint Lock working. It's just not particularly intuitive that you have to press the damn thing TWELVE times and wiggle your finger to get it to work. Easily the most poorly documented device I have ever purchased. Sh*t, even my cheap chinese $5 digital meat thermometer had a detailed manual in the box, on paper no less. But my $200 smart phone doesn't. Go figure.
RN5 is a smartphone, it was main for smart people.

Not-so-smart answer though. I already cited an example of why we would could use a manual, but I guess you missed that, chief.
Lmao, people will cry over everything these days. Its a freaking android device, like any other. You get a little paper explaining hardware and buttons, and its written clearly: Press and hold power button to turn on the device, then follow on screen instructions. Thats why there is a startup guide when you use the phone for first time. Everythings explained more than simple. If you cant follow that, maybe smartphone is not for you. And i congratulate xiaomi for not wasting paper on this matter. Your rant about fingerprint is also absurd, everything is explained very clearly on screen instructions. Jeez, talk about being dramatic

Yes, after you press it TWELVE times it will eventually tell you to wiggle your finger after giving you countless fail/error messages.

Well, I'm assuming you only use your phone to talk/text, browse a few webpages, and take not-so-pretty selfies, but some of us might want a little more detailed info on what this phone can actually do. And the phone can do a LOT, having features that probably 99% of end users aren't even aware of, thanks to virtually ZERO guidance provided by Xiaomi. The bottom line is we shouldn't have to go looking all over the web to compile our own documentation.
Btw, for comparison, I have a cheap, rock-bottom-of-the-line, $25 (USD) Unimax U673c android SmartPhone that had excellent documentation in the form of a PDF manual. But I guess it's okay if some of you guys don't find the lack of a manual curious. Your needs are probably few, and some of you probably can barely read anyway, so...
And I just wanted to say Thank You to corkiejp for being helpful and polite among a bunch of bozos whose only way of being able to communicate seems to be through snark. Have a great day. I'm outta here.
Dude, just stop. You are alone on this matter. Every single post in this thread disagree with you. You are drama queen over nothing. And i use my phone to its full potential, obviously more than you do, because i never needed any papers telling me how to add fingerprint lmao. Now that i think about it, im quite sure there wasnt any paper manuals in my atleast last 2 devices also. Just some simple instructions on how to remove sim tray or stuff like that. There is a FIRST STARTUP GUIDE on android for a reason. It couldnt be more simple. And this was my first ever MIUI phone, so i wasnt really familiar with this OS, yet somehow i understand all its functions. Maybe because whenever you enter some function menu from settings, you get a neat little guide on what its purpose is or an option called "about", which does same thing - explain how it works in short.

Your meat thermometer is a single-function device and as such easy to write a manual for. A 'smart' phone - in other words, a pocket computer which happens to include mobile connectivity - is none of the above. The role of the manual has been largely taken over by on-screen instructions, your example of fingerprint enrolment is demonstrative in this respect as it tells you what to do while you do it. You might as well get used to this as the chance of finding a comprehensive manual for software which is updated every other week is getting smaller and smaller. If you want a phone with a manual you're better off with a feature phone as those, due to their less ephemeral nature, can be described in full for the duration of their lifetime which is measured in years.

Tbh I don't think this is possible, because xda has undergone such an overhaul, even the thank meter system and the title system has been changed. Having the older version would mean to recreate it so it embraces all the new stuff here, it could happen but that's very unlikely since it's hard work, and the vast majority of the members actually like this revamped version. Give it a day or two and I think you'll get used to it
This is not going to be possible, but we do have a classic theme if you want an older look.
Yeh, need to move forward into the unknown!
The Classic theme helps....
Aw goly, not liking this new site.
Particularly don't like that the most recent threads under their respective sections can't be seen.
If this could be brought back it would be appreciated.
There is no more "old way" anymore, they migrated and moved all the content from the old site to the new site so as far as I am aware, the "old" site is gone. I personally don't like it yet, but with anything new, comes change, and time to get used to it. I am sure in time we will all have a better experience once they finish the migrations and we all get used to it.
I also noticed I cant edit the posts yet (or I cant find a way to do it) in the new system, so I hope its a bug that gets fixed because I make numerous grammar issues the first round (trying to get the info out of my brain tends to be funky the first round), then I clean it up but only when I can edit my post. This could simply be a user error, or possibly an ID10T error.
The amount of work it would take to maintain two completely separate codebases wouldn't be worth the hassle at all.
As for "like Reddit does":
They are owned by a massive company, they can afford to maintain the old site for at least a bit while they build the newer site out. XDA doesn't have the manpower or server power to do that.
It's only temporary, Reddit isn't gonna keep the old site around forever. Just like YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook when they did massive redesigns a couple years ago, the old site eventually shut down once they migrated 90-100% of the functionality over.

Yeah I get that small team etc. But no one does an overnight overhaul with half of the features missing/not working. Even mobile app stopped working including the official app. That is very unprofessional. Most sane people would have them both side by side, for sometime, while fixing bugs on the new site and new app. This way users can still have a nice user experience, while getting familiar with newer website transition.
But, well what can I say, XDA is not my company. They can do whatever the heck they want.

This is not going to be possible, but we do have a classic theme if you want an older look.

On individual forum it's not displaying the lastest post info on the main page forcing you to open each section. The global new posts section works fine.
Doesn't display the user stats on the poster's post as before; more blank, unused dead space.
The "thanks" is all goofed up.
Rather have a smart complicated gf than a pretty dumb one... as their beauty rapidly fades as you get to know them.
Im fine with the overhaul but come on, where are the files attachments on other posts? where are the links? if you will left those, then better shut down this BS forum.

You should know that you are only seeing the tip of the iceberg. This change didn't happen overnight. There was a significant userbase testing the new XenoForo interface for months prior to release so they did exist side by side. Thing is, a testing environment is never the same as the real deal so at the official launch so of course some quirks came up. If anything, you can say they have been working in a very professional manner to work those out. In the first 24 hours after releasing most major issues were already resolved. The biggest one right now is probably still some posts/threads missing. Change is never easy

The changes were announced a long time ago and the announcement was highlighted on top of every section of every subforum. Which are you missing anyway? I see my attachments (like this one) are still present. Mind that the migration is still not 100% complete yet.
