Using android phone as wifi or bluetooth or usb keyboard - Android Stick & Console Intel based Computers

I am using a nexus 5x and own an asus stick computer running windows 10. I have searched and found some apps such as "unified remote" but these apps require the pc to be already running after passing the password screen, so I can't use the phone to type the password via bluetooth or wifi. As the stick pc is intended to be portable, I am not quite comfortable to remove password protection and bring it out of home or office. The other option of connecting the phone to pc via usb (such as the app "usb keyboard") requires root and custom kernel, but I wish to use android pay and root or any modification to the system is prohibited.
Are there any apps which I can use to connect the phone and pc to let me type the password, via bluetooth or wifi or usb, or any workaround for my situation?
Thanks for help

thank you

[Q] How to access USB storage via WiFi on Amazon Fire TV?

Hi,
Now that Amazon Fire TV officially supports USB storage, is there a way to connect to it via WiFi from a PC?
I'd like to be able to send files to the attached USB stick. Is there a way to do this?
Thank you! :fingers-crossed:

You need to be rooted. Then you can run an Android Samba app. Expect slow transfer rates. Probably quicker to unplug the stick and plug it into your PC.

Thanks so much for your response. My firmware does not allow rooting. Is there no way to do this without the root?
Could the HooToo TripMate Nano Wireless N Pocket Travel Router set up and connect the USB storage through adhoc wireless mode to the FIre TV / Stick without root?
connect the hard drive to ur pc or android device via an otg cable and push the files using adb
If all you are looking for is to manually transfer files without root, there are several apps out there called something similar to "WiFi File Transfer" that run on Android devices and let you connect to them via an ip address in a browser on another device, I've used the free version of this one (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.smarterdroid.wififiletransfer&hl=en), which is limited to 5MB file transfers, on other Android devices, it was very simple. I haven't tried this on my Stick, though it might be easy if you install Google Play first.
If you are looking for SMB network sharing, then I agree with everyone else, you need root or you need to connect the hardrive to something else like a computer or your router.
I havent tried this without root but you could run a ftp server app on the firetv and connect to it that way.
I tried googling it but got conflicting answers if it will work without root.

enable USB mass storage on ZP2 ZE550ML

Is there a way to activate the USB mass storage mode, even by using third-party software?
Can't really stand the MTP mode.
Thanks in advance!

Me too... I tried various methods to activate USB mass storage but none worked... U can transfer files via adb or Shareit app... I am using Shareit...Its fast and you don't need any knowledge about adb commands...Just connect ur device and PC/laptop via wifi hotspot and transfer files...Its the best way i found till now...Till then lets hope some dev will look into enabling USB mass storage mode for our phone...
This app fr Google Play works for my ZE551ML: MTP-alternative USB drive.

Thanks :good: this app actually works and i was able to read/write files with great speed :victory:
This MTP-alternative app doesn't work for me.
Actually, when I enabled USB tethering on my zenfone it results on WIN 8.1 x64 a new network device called Remote NDIS based Internet Sharing Device is detected and automatically installed properly (after some minutes). But then, I can not connect to this network. Notifications center returns:
Code:
Non identified Network
Limited connexion
In Network and Sharing Center , it shows:
Code:
Access type: No network access
Connections: Local network
When USB tethering is ON, my Network and Sharing Center is very laggy. I barely can not click on a network to display its status. As soon as USB tethering is OFF, everything instantly returns to normal.
How did you manage to have the "Internet Access" for this network, so one can go to next step with the app.
The best would be Asus add a mass storage option in a next firmware release.
I use TotalCommander with the free USB OTG plugin so I can copy file from a standard USB key, or just use adb push/pull via USB it's very fast

Errors Lineage OS flashing: 1) Not tethering to hot spot 2) No access to Storage

First, I'm a relative newbie to flashing and I must say that these boards are incredible. I was able to bring new life back to my forgotten Note 8.0 by rooting and flashing the Lineage OS. I'm extremely happy with how it all turned out and couldn't have done it without all the great information on this site.
that said, i did encounter 2 minor issues. UPDATE: I WAS ABLE TO FIX #2.
1). The tablet will not connect to a mobile hotspot. The tablet sees the hotspot (my Samsung Galaxy 8 phone), but will not connect once the password is entered. The normal wifi works so it isn't the end of the world, but I was going to use the table as my cars navigation, but it needed to be powered by my phone since I have the wifi only version of the Galaxay 8.0.
2). When I connect my tablet to my computer, the computer recognizes the tablet, but when I click on it in the file manager it says "No Info" (not the exact words, but you get the idea).
UPDATE: I HAD TO OPEN DEVELOPER OPTIONS TO TURN OFF USB DEBUGGING FOR THE COMPUTER TO RECOGNIZE THE TABLET.
THEN: I tapped on the charging battery icon and a message appeared saying the following AND CLICKED ON "Transfer files to Windows or Mac (MTP)"
Use USB for
Charging
Just charge this device
Power supply
Charge the other connected device
File transfers
Transfer files to Windows or Mac (MTP)
Photo transfer (PTP)
Transfer photos or files if MTP is not supported (PTP)
MIDI
Use device for MIDI input
I TRIED TO PROPERLY ATTRIBUTE THE LINK THAT HELPED ME SOLVE THIS ISSUE, BUT I WASN'T ALLOWED.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

USB Debugging - Authorisation for PC

I am trying to back up my phone using Syncios. I have all the options made in Developer Settings/Mode. Phone is Android 10, March update.
On an elderly Windows 7 machine, I get a USB Debugging Authorisation panel on the phone and I accept and connect flawlessly to Syncios.
On a much newer Windows 10 Home laptop, I do not get the panel, so cannot authorise to connect to PC.
Any ideas/tips please??
Since the Android 10 update I can't connect the phone via USB to any of my computers (win10, 7, Ubuntu), also I can't connect it in fastboot, so maybe you get the same bug on your phone.

The phone connects to a W7 computer perfectly well.
It's been a couple of months since I was able to successfully connect phone on Ubuntu or Win10. It's not even showing any notification that it is connected.
My phone works fine with both a Mac (10.11) and PC (Windows 10)... Maybe there's something you can clear data on... Maybe if you click on Revoke USB debugging authorizations?
I normally use wireless adb though. The app Quick Settings gives me a toggle in the notification shade (ADB over LAN) and then I just adb connect IP from the computer. My router assigns a fixed IP and hostname to my phone so it's easy
task
I’m connecting my iphone to windows pc and i have errors constantly. I have additional software to connect different os. It isn’t an issue. I have notifications about viruses. That’s weird because i have this protection it seems to be ok. Can’t understand what’s the problem
