Port Rom for HTC E9 dual. - One (E9+) General

Hi all,
I have a HTC E9 dual but current rom only support to 5.0, find rom cook is also not.
I see the spec of the HTC E9 same Xiaomi Redmi Note 2, can i use rom cook 6.0 of redmi note 2 flash for E9?
If you want to flash, can i port rom?
Thank all.

Help me, please.

Help me, please.

Help me, please.

Nothing can be done, mate. As you can see there's multiple threads about it. Without active dev or someone that can properly port a rom, nothing will change. There is no source of any kind for the E9+. And with the time passing the chances for a port or a custom rom are getting slim. I'm waiting for my contract upgrade due end of september and i'm leaving the sinking HTC ship. There's proper support for only a handfull devices. Everything else is doomed. I'm with HTC since the Touch Cruise model with windows 6.x. But the last 3 years i had enough with HTC. No wonder they are going down. Even the U11 won't save them. This company is doomed. Btw E9+ is already in EOL phase, so no official support for it.

Will Desire ever be a modded phone?

Hi,
I am due to trade in my faithful G1 in the next three weeks. The obvious choice financially for a replacement is the Desire.
The best thing about owning the G1 was the wave of development that has followed its release, I have really enjoyed being able to swap ROMs and have the such a wide range of choice to do so.
So, will the Desire ever have this developer base, or has it been eclipsed by the Nexus in this respect? has anyone else thought about this as part of their decision for their next handset?
I know the stock answer is going to be "get a Nexus", but that doesnt makes financial sense at the moment. Maybe I will have to wait until a proper UK release....
Sent from my T-Mobile G1 using the XDA mobile application powered by Tapatalk
I don't see how you might think the Desire won't get a large developer base. Any phone on XDA gets a large developer base IMO and there are are plenty of Android specific forums that can help you mod when the phone has been rooted.
I think you'll be fine to upgrade to the Desire
The desire will be rooted soon and supposedly has interchangeable roms with the N1 anyway.
All sounds reassuring, thanks I probably named this post poorly..I think it was the extent to which attention would be focused I was concerned about. G1 and Nexus seemed to be in the right place at the right time when devs like Cyanogen were getting hold of new handsets and modding them.
Although I hope I am wrong it is by no means certain that the Desire will be "hacked" to accept Custom ROMs. I understand that Paul at Modaco has been able to "root" the Desire but a lot more work is required before Custom ROMs can be loaded.
There is an assumption here that the "Developers" can do anything. It might just not be possible without a "leak" from someone within HTC.
It might be worth waiting a while before purchasing.
or you just buy it and wait for it to be rooted?
why should you wait until it is cuz we all know it will be rooted. its only a matter of time.
and if it cant be rooted we are screwd because all new htc (android) devices will have the same kind of security or even better !!

I am in the same boat as you... I have a G1 and absolutely love the modding and dev community out there, it made my phone 1000x more fun to own . I have been looking at the Desire and there are some great deals out there (price wise) so I am seriously considering getting one. The N1 is too expensive for me atm, plus the N1 hasnt sold as well as Google had hoped... For me I hope the desire will outsell the N1 and hopefully have a large dev support....

Would you be disappointed if...

With all the work this community has gone into getting Android to work on the TP2/Tilt2, would you be disappointed or upset if HTC developed and released a full featured and functional Android build for the TP2/Ttilt2

No, more like excited. Seeing as that's what all this work has gone into trying to accomplish in the first place. lol
Bah! I can't vote right on my own poll...
I can't wait for full Android on this or my next phone whoever makes it.
why would i be disappointed? it would give more access for the devs here to work with.
I would hope that HTC worked with the xda developers to create an android rather than voiding all the existing work.
However if HTC did release one I bet it would solve many of the problem the xda guys have had and would enable them to finish alternative flavours of Android for the TP2.
Either way having android for the TP2 would be just awesome whoever cracks it.
I vote yea because I am not an end user, all these end users probably voted no because they would just be satisfied that theres a working build, but they give no credit to the people that have taken time out of their lives to get something working that a lot of people would have no idea how to do. and yet the devs get no credit...
I want to dump my phone for android based phone.
I think even the devs would love it, because they could then focus their efforts on modding and creating apps which they are really good at and really enjoy instead of backward engineering what has already been done.
I wish...
I wish they would, but it probably won't happen. I'm sure there is already a strain on the HTC-Microsoft relationship because most (if not all) of their new high-end devices are Android based, with the exception of the HD2 (which isn't really new anymore). I'm sure HTC is developing WP7 devices but most of their focus right now seems to be on Android. If they release an Android build for a WinMo device, Microsoft will probably throw a fit. I'm sure HTC wants to do it to spike sales and increase the "lifespan" of the Rhodium, but it would not be in their best interest. However, if there are any HTC engineers and such listening, please feel free to "leak" unofficial 2.1 or 2.2 builds to the geniuses here. 3.0 is welcome as well...
I would love it, but please, don't get my hopes up.
i wouldnt be BUT i do realize the hard work and effort the devs. have made on this project. im sure it would make things easier for devs. then they could focus on modding and apps.
i will never ever turn on the freakin window-mo......more and more and more then happy if Htc release the official Android 3.0 a.k.a. Gingerbread build
HTC would never do this. So the hypothetical question shouldn't even be answered.
I think i would go buy it.
I would like to see a rom with android and wm working as one but back to the question u would have to think about money they would make with people switching n buying another htc phone with andriod but I do think they should lend an helping hand with getting the sound to work

[Q] Sense?

Okay, I assume the dev forum is the right place for this, since it would involve taking things apart.
I was wondering, for those of us who like Sense (don't hit me, to each his own), has anybody ever tried to seperate it from Android and port it to non HTC devices?
There are some great new things coming down the pipe, and I am not a developer, so I don't pretend to know if this is even remotely possible.
Just a wish of mine that maybe HTC would make it available in the Market for other devices to install.
Thanks for any contructive input,
Dennis

Wrong section and then some. Try the forum section for the non HTC phone you speak of.
I don't speak of any particular phone. I have an Incredible.
And I suspect that since Sense is only on HTC phones, somebody who works with them would have to do it, if it even can be done.
I was asking because I see other devices, like the new Samsung Tablet, that I would really like if they had Sense.
Of course if HTC came out with one, that would solve my problem anyway.

Back before I got the Incredible I was following a port to the Moto Droid of SenseUI. I don't know if they ever finished because there were HUGE hurdles that had to be overcome like the RIL. It was the zeusdroid team, you can try googling them to see if any of their work comes up. Like I said its quite possible they may have bagged it because it was such a big undertaking to create a new RIL from scratch.

[Poll][Community effort]Best way to tell HTC that Desire is lacking updates?!

Hey all!
- So.. we want sense 2.0 right?
- We want Gingerbread right?
- MS Exchange support in Mail client (add account fails..)?
- Maybe a fix for the SMS not sending the sms to the recipient (rare.. but known, see the thread for Desire's bugs)
... I propose we create a common message to HTC asking for updates.
My main reason for this is the same lame answer everyone gets after emailing them for a certain update/fix.
We always get the "we don't know when" or "HTC makes sure you have the latest blah blah blah.."
Let's make a stand and say to HTC we don't want them to be like other companies that don't update "older" models!
Desire's hardware can - surely - withstand Gingerbread + Sense, Sense 2.0 and more..
The specs aren't near old enough not to have the latests features Android has to offer!
So.. with that in mind maybe you could unite our efforts and take a common action..
I'm suggesting the ones in the poll.. have another idea?
Update:
!PANDA as suggested sending the link to this thread to HTC.. so plz leave a reply
Once loads of people have voted, we all e-mail htc with the link to this poll, so they'll actually see this as most of the time they just send us templates.
The same has been done with the 1.24.161.3 vodafone update (just update, no poll used)
That is all. Good Bye.

Of course it doesn't hurt to ask them for further support I think it is still to soon to say they won't support us. I think we will get an upgrade to gingerbread, maybe even with sense 2.0 (which I think is the biggest obstacle because the rom is so large otherwise it should run fine( and it does on my phone))
It took them 3 months to port froyo...

We already have the first 2 on your list - look through the first 2 pages of the 'Desire Android Development' thread....
My experience is that HTC do whatever HTC want to do. They would much rather have you spend some more $$ on a new device than pour effort into updating/supporting your old one. Now I'm not saying that's how it should be, just saying that's how it is.
That's why this place is so valuable - people spend the time and effort to provide stuff HTC (and others) never intended you to have.
Gotta love XDA Devs
Good luck with your idea tho.

Er..
It is too soon to have gingerbread.. of course it is!
But what about the messaging thing? Has it ever happened to you? It's kinda bothering to send something you wrote to your girlfriend and have it delivered to your boss.. Who knows he might like it or he might sue you for sexual harassment..
JK, but seriously, there's little things that should be fixed.
For example showing the sms you sent as a reply before the sms that originated the reply..
The ms exchange mail thing..
I believe they will take a while to give us 2.3 and we have to understand that Sense is a very good GUI (the best I've experienced so far..) because it is well programmed and tested. So HTC is just "protecting" their image by taking three months to port the new version of Android.
But look for example the case of Sony Ericson saying 2.1 is too good already and future updates shouldn't be expected.. Sure their costumers replied back.. and now they're getting 2.2 on some models.. (We'll see..)
My point here is that by requesting fixes and updates we are showing that we are satisfied costumers and want it to continue that way. So in a month or two, if there's no 2.3 for Desire maybe we can have this thread to show dis contempt..
(And by the way.. Sense 2.0 isn't that big of an obstacle.. it's already working entirely in Desire's NAND.. just have a look at some DHD ROMs ports to Desire in the Development section.. Saying that Sense 2.0 won't fit in Desire's NAND is saying that XDA has better chefs than HTC... lol )

Don't get me wrong, I'm also that focused. But if you end up with a bricked phone it kinda.. no longer works..
I was thinking that the DHD ports has sense running too.... so we just need HTC to allow us to connect to htcsense.com with a DHD port too!
I want the mail app fixed so it works with hotmail eas... surely its a small bug fix...

This poll equates to the following:
"Hi BMW,
I bought a 3 series last year with a 2-litre engine and I now see you have a 2.5-litre engine. When can I book in my new engine?"
Bit extreme, I know, but HTC don't have to update the Desire to anything. They're a business and they release new phones with new software. We might get it, we might not
That can be true in car business. But smart phone making is different. And when you buy car you are not only buying finished product but in most cases also 1, 2, 3, 5 year guarantee that include replace car, tow service, help on road if yours car stops obedience. Bmw also has free maintenance for first 100.000km or 5 years. Every business has its rules. And we as buyers of smartphones we set them. So, i ll buy my next phone from company that will offer me at least 2 years of updates. Thats the reason i don’t buy samsung anymore. Hope i don’t need to search for new manufacture. I like htc. But updates are important to me.

Not just to you. HTC should provide the official updated, and although you can say that we already 'have' them, you shouldn't really have to root the phone to have them. A phone like our Desire ain't cheap, we should at least get HTC's service as well as the product. So far, we've had the product, and in most cases very good product, but the updates arn't here, which sometimes makes Nokia look better: me and other members sent them an e-mail regarding an update with kinetik scrolling etc, it happened withing a couple of weeks! Come on HTC, Nokia knows how to listen to its customers, so if you want us to stay loyal, you have to be loyal to us.
That is all. Good Bye.

I don't have one
I'm fine with buying a new phone when the updates will no longer go on them.
I flashed my HTC Touch HD with WinMo6.5.3 to make sure it was updated when I found HTC wouldn't push out anymore updates... I'm just waiting for that point when HTC won't push any updates out, or they won't fit on anymore then I'll probably be rooting and flashing...
I purchased my Desire in about July 2010 for around £390 - that's the most I've paid for a phone and I don't intend giving it up just yet...

However, some people can not afford to buy new phones, just make the most if what they've got, but HTC will not even do that! Okay, Froyo wasn't that bad for the unbranded devices, but why shoul our providers get the updates to brand them?! People who don;t know what branding is etc, will think that HTC is just not as good as other phones, Nokia for example- no barnding, and although there may be some on the case of the phone, no Software Branding. Therefore, updates are pushed a lot quicker!
Back to the point, people like me want to make sure that they get as much as they can for what we pay, and for that reason, I don't think that HTC is as helpful as they can be.
That is al. Good Bye.
Desire / Nexus S
If HTC makes an update ill buy desire if not ill buy Nexus S, maybe........maybe not......ohh i LOVE the htc sense and i want a phone with the sense so i wont buy Nexus S.......Maybe desire z? but it has the keyboard problems and i dont need a keyboard.....ill buy desire (the normal one) and ill flash a cooked rom with 2.3 and the new sense, if possible...

Don't underestimate the power of the Dark side, Luke!
It's only a script.. if we lived in an utopia HTC would just release the next OTA with it..
data2sd, app2sd+ script can create the partition and even align it.. http://www.patriotmemory.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3696
Maybe even with reiserFS partitions for faster access, but I think the dev's are getting to the conclusion that not all SDs work well with reiserFS.. so EXT3

E9+ rom

I know I'm not in the right forum, but since there isn't no one, I will use this one.
I've just recieved my HTC E9+, It's is E9pw the chineese model as far as I can tell.
I'm just loving the viperrom, Is there any chanse to install it on the e9+? and If not, are there any other roms/kernel which allow me extra features?
Thanks for you help
No viperrom for e9+ or m9+ , and probably you'll find some roms only on Chinese forums AFAIK. I don't have an e9+ to develop on, so I can't help you with that, and also my budget for phones/gadgets is off for a while with the expensive m9+. Honestly I don't think there's many users who would donate so a dev could pick up a device, I haven't seen a pledge thread in English, and there's devs for it on China. As it's quite close to m9+ I'd be inclined to dev on it, but I only dev for phones I have. Maybe later there will be some xda dev too with the device
