Just cancelled my order after seeing this video - Google Pixel 2 XL Questions & Answers

I saw this video and at the 7 minute mark he does a "bend test".
The phone was due to ship tomorrow couldn't press the cancel button fast enough.

UPDATE: Nevermind.....just reordered you'all can carry on nothing happening here.

That worries me, even though I put an Otterbox on it. This phone is in my pocket all day on construction sites, hope it doesn't crack!

Dear lord not this again!

You probably canceled your order for nothing. That video is about the Pixel 2 and not the Pixel 2 XL.
If you had done some research you'd see that the place where it snaps is where the antenna bands are on the Pixel 2, the Pixel 2 XL doesn't have it's antenna bands in the same place so it won't snap/bend.

Had a 6P and my phone never bent under every circumstances I gave it.
Pixel 2 XL could be different then the Pixel 2...

Thank you ! I get a phone earlier. Hahaha

Look at the amount of pressure he put it to get it to bend!!! U think that's gonna happen during normal usage!!!!

He said he couldn't cancel fast enough so he's getting it right? And do you really think the LG G6 fan ever really ordered it? The G6 was released in March so it's only been out around 6 months and he orders an XL 2? I guess anything is possible but the naysayers and trolls are invading like a Halloween mashup.
All in all I think the phone did pretty well in that silly test. What kind of water resistance does it have? I mean can you drop it into a bucket.. err toilet and pull it out and it not get damaged?

That isn't the 2XL. Plus JRE applies an obscene amount of force to the phones he tests.

Or just don't try to break your phone in half. Or put in in your back pocket and sit on it (seriously, who does that??). Or try to cut it in half with a utility box cutter. These tests are so far removed from "real world" scenarios it is lunacy to base your device choice on them. He also called the Nexus 6P "a joke" and from a hardware perspective my 6P looks as good today as the day it was bought.
Seriously, re-order your Pixel 2, enjoy it when it arrives and ignore the pointless tests in that video.

Lol the paranoia going around in these forums about all these "issues" . Unreal

It's paranoia man. People seems to have a bit extra here one the Google pixel forums. Funny enough I went to a theme park where one of the rides applied a crazy amount of pressure to my lap where my phone was. The lap bar literally landed on top of my phone and was on it throughout the whole ride. Would you guess what happened? Absolutely nothing.

fyi I posted a yt video of p2xl water testing.

Believe it was the iFixit teardown where they showed the 2 XL has a magnesium core (aka strong) where its cousin the LG G6 had a plastic core. Seems OP may have gone the wrong direction...

I feel like I lost some iq points watching that. Scratching paint off with a utility knife is not a durability test. I'd never expect a phone to tolerate that.

Boring video.... I'll be partying with my badboy XL 2! Cheers ?????

Magnesium is stronger than aluminum and titanium. I think we're good

Can I swap my 002 for 003 if its a bit banged up? (pics link inside)

I have 002 Novatec that I purchased from Radioshack on June 4th at 6am here in Salt Lake City,Utah. My question is, I've banged it up a tad bit and was wondering if I bring it in (unrooted/stock of course) to radioshack and explain to them why I want to be put on the waiting list for a new one (30 fps cap, purple hue,not as bright as 003s) and maybe even show them the comparison picture of the 002 to the 003, and they deny me, do I goto sprint next or call HTC or keep trying?

i was under the impression that you could return it w/in 30 days for whatever reason. at least, that's what Dan says in his commercials.
or you could just tell em that you get crappy service inside your house so what's the point of having a phone you can't use at home.

the thing is,.. the screen has 2 minor scratches, kickstand is scratched up a wee bit, the camera lense has a scratch or two but not right in front of the lens just off to the sides, and the corner has a ding, can I return it in that condition? I will post screens soon!

crappy 4g service mind you, but thats what wifi is for
If it been less then 30 days your fine. Even if its been a few days over they can still do it. They might charge a restocking fee, but they can waive it. just be firm when handling those lovely radio shack employees.

Its 30 days if the phone is in perfect shape they have to take it back. If it isn't, like yours, then your taking your chances, you may have to plead/grovel.

Dunno, i brought it in couple weeks ago and showed the dude that sold me the phone the scratches on the screen, he was like dunno if we will be able to accept that phone, so I guess im stuck with it,.. which isnt a bad thing for me, just my wallet. So the question now i guess is, can I convince these RS guys to exchange my 002 with an 003 and hope I get an epson screen? I will be going straight to ZAGG HQ here in Salt Lake to have them install thier Invisshield since I'm so clumsy at it, if I do get a new evo.
You're still within 30 days, so even if RadioShack won't take the phone back can't you still cancel your service, or get a cheap dumbphone and change your plan accordingly? You can always sell your Evo on Ebay or something then.
EDIT: since the OP changed his original question, this post is no longer relevant
Probably depends who you talk to and how nice they are. Some Radioshacks will inspect the phone more in-depth than others. Basically you are wanting to exchange a nicked up phone for a new one. "30 fps cap, purple hue,not as bright as 003s" are not really considered defects. Unless you bought the warranty from them that covers wear and tear, then it's gonna be a hit or miss.
edit: I just skimmed your pictures and those are some pretty bad nicks. I thought it was just light surface scratches here and there. Good luck, but I'll be pretty damn surprised if they took that back.

Outside of just not taking care of your equipment your only real reason is from what you have read on the internet. You actually have no legitimate reason to return the phone. You probably never notice any difference until you read about it. It hasn't been proven with enough comparisons which panel is better or brighter. Now some are sticking with the nova panels. Tweaks are being done as well.
Funny you mention a refund due to it being heavy on the wallet yet you would take an 003 with epson if you had a chance.
Please don't post a complaint about how horrible customer service is when they don't fullfil your request.

I really don't get how people can't take care of their expensive equipment.
If anything, try to go to a Sprint retail store and see if they'll let you swap over or do a dumbphone swap then get on the list for the rev0003. Considering your lack of care for your equipment, your odds are low. It would cost them money to take your phone back since they'd have to replace the screen and camera lens.

Serious? -10000000. The reason I even began searching these forums was for a fix to the sluggish performance. This is not my first android phone. I've had an Incredible with Verizon and borrowed my cousin's N1 for a few days while waiting for the Evo to come out. Now that there is a psuedo fix for the fps issue, a real fix that doesn't break and FC everything is imminent. But a brighter screen with richer truer blacks and no screen seperation? Nobody knew the 003 were brighter with richer blacks untill the screen shot comparison.
I could tell immediately that the EVO had fps issues, the scrolling would glitch out and skip, the app drawer, the overall fluidity felt like something was holding it back, htc. I tried out the fix and man the evo blazes! Can't wait till they perfect it!

At the time of purchase that Radioshack did not have any screen protectors and only a universal smartphone body glove clip on case which is pretty dam useless, added unnecessary bulk to the phone and did not give me access to any of the buttons. It was just a holding case.
There were no limited edition Seidio Innocase Active Cases. Though I agree I am partly to blame for not babying it until suitable protection was available, one of the first threads I read was about how the phone had Gorilla Glass which seems like bs due to how easy it is to scratch the screen. =\

My one year old just accidentally drop tested the lumia 800

And before you ask, yes, my one year old has a wp7 device and can use it to some extent. He dropped it off of the balcony at a hotel we're at and it landed flat on the concrete below missing the pool by mere inches. Thusfar, I see no scratches on the device and the only discernible fault from a second story fall is a looser power button that is still perfectly functional. I was scared to drop test mine, so it's cool to know it can take a beating.
Sounds like its fairly durable. Thats good. Wonder how it would have fared had it gone into the pool.........I SAID, I wonder how it would have fared had it gone into the pool
Won't be testing that... Not on purpose anyway.

wtf is this world coming to
how did he manage to toss something from two stories up, without you stopping him ?
more importantly, how did you manage to see how it landed if you weren't close enough to prevent the toss ?
i don't care what you let your kids play with, expense is relative. today's $800 phone is tomorrows paperweight with them being released so fast. our kids play with iPhones and G1's all the time.
or the G4 laptop hooked up to a 20" mac monitor in the other room. a few years ago that was $3 large. today, it's a craiglist hard to sell item !
Balcony has 4 ft railing, it's safe. I was out there on it too and just couldn't stop it. He was watching some kids movie, and it fell out of his hands. Not so much a toss.
Zee, you're a liar. Pics or it didn't happen.
Lol I've never found any of his posts questionable, he doesn't seem like the type of user who would post for dramatic effect like some of these troll posts. I do want pictures though just to see how the power button looks. The thread title makes it all worth it though.

I've bought like 15 devices in the past 2 years, I'm not saying whether he does or doesn't have the devices, but it isn't out of the ordinary if he does. A lot of developers, Schapman for one, post some crazy things and you guys don't ask for pictures lol. Give him a break dude. I've never understood the whole "pics or it didn't happen" theory. It's a forum, whether he does or doesn't makes no difference, his post is positive and doesn't hurt anybody.
I only have a titan, a dvp, and a lumia 800 on me. No computer atm, does board express allow you to upload pictures to the forum? If so I'll go buy it.
Either that or I could email the pictures. I'd upload them but I dont even know what uploaded to use. Pic uploading isn't an integral part of my life.

first fall to ground, the phone can't power on, bad quality LG

my phone (with a spigen hard case) fall to ground first time, the screen is fine, but I can't power on it anymore...
sent it to LG service, said need 3 days to check what's wrong..
my Nexus 5 fall to ground many times, and working well. and Nexus 5x just one... LG quality now is really bad.
Well, LG might say that user handling of devices nowadays it's very bad.
Hard cases suck for drops. They accept the drop instead of deflecting it like softer ones do. Just my opinion, buy a better case

You don't think anyone dropped their Nexus 5 and it broke too? It's just luck if it breaks or not, as with any phone in a drop.
My 5x fell onto tiled floor with no case or screen protector. Barely even a scuff on two of the corners. Good job LG!
BTW you shouldn't expect a case to help in a drop when it's not designed to help in a drop, isn't advertised to help in a drop, nor was it ever publicly tested in drop tests.
If a case doesn't have these things then it is for scratch protection, minor bumps, and aesthetics only. Don't be fooled by empty marketing promises. It's easy for any case or SP to type some words on their JPEGs "super resilient, shock and explosion proof, 9H hardness" but that doesn't mean it's true or was ever actually tested. They just want your money.
Couldn't the thread have been titled, "First unlucky drop and no power.." or something like that. Ya just gotta throw in the dig of "bad quality LG" as if it's their fault you dropped the phone. I just don't get all these threads that don't really ask questions so much as to get eyeballs on a negative depiction of a very capable phone. And I'm just as guilty, I read this crap.
Me too Bobby. I keep feeding the trolls. I can't help it. I feel bad for them.
Thing is it was happening in the 6P threads too. I had one for about a week until I realized it was just too large a device for me and I was definitely going to drop and break it due to the size and slippery back. "Super lag on the 6P", "awful camera", speakers terrible" things like that just the same as here. Some of them just Sammy fans and some iPhone heads but they came out of the woodwork. And same here, "5X-Hugely disappointed" over 45k views. I mean who goes on just to post something like that instead of taking the time to return the device and research another one? It just makes me wonder motivation.
Back on topic, I dropped my phone once and not a scratch. It was on the carpet, does that count?
The only thing lacking quality in this situation is your grip.
Mine survived a 4 foot drop to concrete.

Me three.
I have to say -- I always try to assume the best in terms of motivation, and just chalk up someone's different experience to use case, app selection, etc. But my 5X is so fast, and multitasks so well, that I have to question motivation as well.

That, I'm sorry to hear. Somehow in this day and age they can make a phone almost indestructible. At least from a toilet drop and 5 feet onto cement.

How could this happen? Gorilla Glass 5 defamed by a single careless man!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nOz4Kf5AL7Q
So the gist of it is this. He sharpened his hardness picks, and particles from from the sharpening tool got embedded into the picks. So all if his picks were hardness 8. So every single pick scratched Note 7, hardness 3-8.
When he got brand new picks, only 6 and up were able to scratch Note 7. Which is in line with other Gorilla Glasses.
So Gorilla Glass is not garbage.
How could this happen?
It was believed by those who chose to believe it. He did apologize and correct his error for what that was worth. We move on.
well, he apologized after the damage was done, apology or no apology, the result was the same, he was the first to damage the note 7 image
I don't think it matters now.

You made me laugh. Well done! Gosh, this phone is gonna be so HOT in a few months.
I was ready to believe Gorilla Glass 5 is prone to scratches because Samsung did boast that it's shatter proof, or shatter resistant. That was the drawback.
I think Jerry and Corning discussed about it after his tests and that's how he came to realise that his picks were contaminated from sharpening.
But he took responsibility for it. Unfortunately, by the time he released the second correction video, we were all in the midst of the first recall/exchange programme. And very soon after that, Samsung discontinued the Note 7.
The quality of the Gorilla Glass 5, along with other high class features of the Note 7 was no longer relevant now.

Only a handful of gullible people ever trusted an uncontrolled, uncalibrated "test" conducted by an untrained, unqualified random guy on the Internet.
Such people tend to be overrepresented on this forum, however, giving the false impression that the report was widely believed.

Thats not what I heard. I hear some dude was playing video games while waiting for his flight and had the phone charging. After they got in the plane he went to turn it off and it caught fire.
When you turn a phone on or off it heats up quickly as well as when you charge it or play video games in a well light place such as an airport and your screen happens to be a little brighter. Or all those 3 in a deadly combination for that matter.
Now, I'm sure its easy for You who probably does not own a Note 7 to come and critize a crazy comment. But you have no idea what the owners of the Note 7 have gone through in order to return, exchange or hold on to their devices

Uh, you "heard" it from whom? Did you happen to "hear" any evidence that it was true? And by the way, even if it was, that would be a perfectly reasonable way to use the phone. The instructions never suggest otherwise, and the phone itself could easily have been designed to prevent that usage, but was not because there should be no reason to.
But you have no idea what the owners of the Note 7 have gone through in order to return, exchange or hold on to their devices.

Uh, I owned and exchanged both an original Note 7 and a replacement Note 7. You seem to have a habit of just making things up and saying them without knowing or caring whether they're true.
the whole point of the throttling and disabling of charging and CPU when under the types of condition of playing games while charging (quite a few phones will stop charging) should be in place and should be capable of taking that type of use as it is well known this is a common way people use the phone, if the phone failed because of someone using it in a quite common way the phone is still at fault not the user who would assume that the phone had the same capability as any other device.

Dude, when I buy a smart phone of this standard (Note 7), i will expect to be able to do all those you've mentioned without it overheating.

Agreed. I've been very defensive about the whole Note7 saga, but my beef is that people who have bought the phone in good faith should be able to decide for themselves whether the slightly elevated risk of using it (compared to other phones) is a risk they PERSONALLY wish to accept. It's not for Samsung or anyone else to decide for them.
But I have never argued that there is nothing wrong with the Note7 design or manufacturing. Clearly there is, and you would not expect a properly designed and manufactured phones to be overheating in the circumstances described above.
On the GG, if you ever see one person defying the industry and standing on a soap box screaming something that flies in the face of reason, alone, without scientific proof in the future......ignore him. Zack is good but he is not THAT good.

Zerolemon has a 8500mah battery case for htc 10 but not avaliable

Does anyone know when it will be released http://zerolemon.com/product/htc-10...on-compatible-with-all-htc-10-variants-black/
ROFL... I think I'll pass. That thing is hideous... I'd rather carry around a brick-sized battery pack than put that on my phone. In fact, that's all it essentially is... A battery pack and phone held together with a silicone protector. NO THANK YOU.
Nice, I would buy that right away, no mention of a price point at this time?
Sent from my HTC 10 using Tapatalk
I just got some news from zerolemon they said it will get released end of November or early December
What's up with that knob on the bottom?

It's already been answered dude, or are you just trying to make a joke?
That is where the connection is made from battery to phone charging port.
It's available now on Amazon

It's just ridiculous that they have that at all. They could have shaved off 500mAh of the battery or just made it a bit thicker so it would be flat on the bottom and not look like that. I mean. I'm interested in a gigantic battery pack being strapped to the back of my phone. I'm not terribly concerned about looks, but it looks like the phone is hanging dong there. Hard pass.
I've gotten ZeroLemons for several other devices, going all the way back to the Note 2. I've never seen a case design like this from them before. It's insane that someone let it off the production line like that.
Just received this case today, not much taller than my Nexus 6P even with the "Dong" on the bottom.
Power bank > this hideous thing. That truncated triangular thing at the bottom makes it look even more ridiculous.
got a PM from Zerolemon a while back....
Turns out, they don't like it if you talk about their product without enthusiasm.... Never heard from them again

Holy mother of........
If you make them Orange you could build a house with enough of these!
But 8500mAh is quite a lot, are they intended for GPS navigation during the 24h of le Mans?
Still, seems like an interesting piece of technology and could come in handy in some situations.
What is your definition of "review" ?
Greetings,
Haldi

Hehe, I reserved my opinions until I received the discount code.. I guess it was the right move!
Sorry to hear they went silent on you. Did you ever give them your e-mail? I had lost contact with them, wondering if they'd PM me the code, and I recently got an e-mail. Perhaps they sent you one and it got lost in spam or something? If not, then very un-cool on their part. They also told me it would be "free sample". However, they sent me a 90% off discount code.
Never sent them my email, this was the only conversation we had.
I can understand the 90% off... They still need to pay shipping and stuff...
