Had the phone since yesterday and noticed right away that FP reader is noticably slower than on OP3 (stock).
after some testing I found that when you deactivate FaceUnlock, FP reader is faster, same as OP3. I cannot make sense of that, FaceUnlock isnt "searching" when phone is locked.
anyone else noticed this?

My 5T should be delivered in a couple of hours.

Don't have OP3 to compare, but I turned on face unlock, smart unlock(google:location), and FP works fine with my 2fingers
I have just tried fingerprint unlock on my 5T with both face unlock on and then off - the unlock time seems exactly the same to me.

Hi there,
did anyone notice this? Compared to Stock (OOS), the fingerprint scanner on any Custom Rom I've tested so far is quite slower. Maybe not the detection of the fingerprint, but the unlock itself, maybe it has like a 1000ms delay that can be set to 0 ? It bugged me for a while now but I couldn't find any settings on this.
Currently on ResurrectionRemix-N 5.8.0-2016-12-18.
I doubt an update to the very newest version will help though, as I already had this problem since my first custom rom on this device (which wasn't even RR).
Seems like custom roms sometimes take a second to activate the fingerprint scanner, there's been times I went to use it and it clicked like I pressed home. Have to swipe up to get to the pin input screen then usually that works. Guess we'll see if it's the same on lineage when I get around to flashing that after work

New : Fingerprint speed seems slightly improved again.
Others :
• Currently checking out what else is new.
• Testing any battery life improvements.
Note : US/Netherlands etc update patch seem to differ, obviously.

Fingerprint sensor not working after this update. Can't register new figerprints.
Samsung really messed up what was fine!

I've updated and there seems to be no such bug you mentioned.
I successfully re-registered my FP and it seems to work fine.
There's slight improvement in FP speed it seems.
Also, FP worked fine even before re-registering them.
Note : I don't know how this transition effect works, anyone ? ( See thumbnail )

Try these :
• Remove all previous biometrics set from facial recognition to Password/Pin.
• Restart your device without any biometrics set.
• Wipe the FP area and dry your thumb before applying for new FP.
• Try switching to other thumb or rotate your thumb. Make sure your thumb ain't sweaty !
Let me know after doing this !

Same here... cannot go above 41 % during registration. Seems samsung goofed up this update.
I updated my phone to New update and removed and readded my finger print. Its working for me.
When you hit 41%, make sure to press hard and hold it for longer. It worked for me the 3rd time I tried. It seems its really fast now.

fingerprint aint working at all.. tried literally everything from wiping cache..restart...straight finger...hard pressing... blue light filter on off.. removed tempered... everything....

fingerprint works great, faster and accurate than before. make sure to keep your finger straight (vertically)while registering and also follow the fingerprint animation
After today's second November update, the accuracy of reading the fingerprint sensor when inserting new fingerprints has been significantly reduced. Either the sensor constantly warns you that your finger must cover the entire area of the sensor or prompts you to clean your finger or the glass of the display. These problems mainly concerned my right thumb when the other fingers were able to enter the cecek without major problems. The whole desperate I tried the method described here on the forum already described somewhere and within the scope of one fingerprint I alternated on the sensor and four fingers of one hand. All I was surprised to find out that I have registered a total of eight fingers at once and everything works great. Please try it, it costs nothing, just a little time. Hello, so I've been using the phone for a year and I'm planning to root it but I still haven't. The thing is the sensor was working for the first few months and it kept getting worse and now it never unlocks using it. Is there any known fixes?
Maybe clean it. I remember mine sometimes doesn't detect my fingerprint properly.

i cleaned it really well. my brother's fingerprint works properly and everytime so the problem is my finger doesnt work nomore i guess

Restarting your device can fix some minor issues like unstable Wi-Fi, a frozen program, or a faulty fingerprint sensor. So the best solution for your fingerprint sensor might be to reset it.

Since you are running a custom ROM, the best person to ask is the creator of that ROM. See if maybe other people running the ROM have the same issue. Since you are not running Stock and haven't even mentioned which ROM you use, it's hard to help you here in any way.

I am not running custom rom but that fingerprint reader problem is on mine too and its sporadic. The reader would work fine after a reset/flash, days later it would bug out. I have to tap once or lift the phone to activate the screen for the reader to work. Rebooting the phone a few times would get it to work again but its random.
I've noticed on AOD the fingerprint reader doesn't respond while in a smartlock area and i have to press power to get to lockscreen then fpr works (or it shows me unlocked by smartlock depending if it's been 4 hours) . Can others confirm/rebut that theirs only does this in smartlock zones and not in the wild (or if you bt smartlock whether or not being connected causes this)
so i rooted and went back to stock OS. It didn't work in AOD. After several reboots, it started to work again..... this is crazy

Yeah, its a crapshoot if it will remain working the next time you restart.
It worked in the 4-11-2022 pixel experience gsi
It doesn't work for me either.
Is someone able to register fingerprint and unlock with it? On my a52s I get a timeout error when trying to set up my fingerprint and the whole screen gets really bright when registering fingerprint

I think almost everyone has that problem, and I think it's because of the fixed FOD.
