Possible to change CSC on S9? - Samsung Galaxy S9 Questions & Answers

Hi all,
Well, as title really... Is it possible to change CSC on the S9?
Cheers

I've digging out about that.I found a way but didn't try still.this method worked on s8+ but not tested on s9/s9+
---------- Post added at 10:02 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:44 AM ----------
1. Downloaded this Combination File from https://firmware.gem-flash.com/index.php, I had to pay $3 USD to get access to the download.
COMBINATION_FA70_G955FXXU1AQD1_CL11075178_QB130870 97_REV00_user_mid_noship.tar.md5.rar
2. Downloaded Odin 3.12 (latest), other versions did not work.
3. Downloaded this ROM:
https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/.../SM-G955F/IUS/
Latest version (January 1st, 2018), it is from ATT, but I dont care care about that haha.
4. Run Odin, download mode on phone and install firmware downloaded from SamMobile.
5. Restart phone, enter OS and do factory data reset.
6. Remove "hidden.img" from HOME CSC (included in firmware) with 7Zip. It has to be repacked to a Tar file.
7. Go back to download mode, open odin and choose the combination file under AP and the recently modified version of Home CSC under CSC.
8. Reboot and enter factory mode.
9. In Factory Imei input *#243203855#
10. Choose IUS as the new CSC.
11. Boot back to download mode.
11. Reinstall firmware, now using normal CSC file (not Home CSC).
12. Boot up to ATT Mexico phone.
13. Morir en paz.

Have you tested this on the S9+?

But after this installation knox still 0x0??

So has anyone had any luck? I was able to find the firmware file.
Edit:: just tried it.. failed. After I flashed the combination firmware with the modified home_csc, the phone rebooted and said "Binaries are mixed!!" and would not let me go into recovery mode. Would not boot up either.

I think it's because we need to make sure we are using the same version of firmware CSC. I.e. If we are using the ARB4 combination firmware we need to flash the ARB4 CSC file, but I don't think there are any ARB4 firmware files available.

ARC is just the time.i think problem is something else

There is COMBINATION_OXM_FA80_G965FXXU1ARD1_OXMFAC_CL13233814_QB17649426_REV01_user_mid_noship.tar available which matches firmware available from SamMobile. Has anyone tried this? I searched for it and got a copy from GsmDevelopers but can't try it until later.

@thepezant Have you tried yet and had any luck? I need to know the CSC on S9+ is able to be changed before purchasing any from overseas.

Nah couldn't get it to work. I will post back if I find a way but not looking good so far.

Hi all, its kind lame question but does anyone has experience with Samsung Service Center regarding CSC change on Galaxy S9 or any Galaxy Device for that matter. I kind of messed it up with CSC change. I was on XSA( Australia) firmware and while fiddling with *#272*imei# I selected VAU(Vodafone Australia). Now I'm really struck as the other sim cards are not accepted on my phone for some reason.
Would The Service center be able revert back the firmware to XSA CSC?

You managed to get *#272*imei# working on a Galaxy S9? Did you use a combination rom or root?
If you tripped Knox, no, they will not help you.

No it was readily available initially with xsa firmware. After changing it to VAU using, I can't get the code working anymore I guess it's available only for unlocked devices. My knox and Warranty status is still 0x0. But I'm not planning to tell Service Center of telling anything about me using the code.

Yea I'm on BRI and the code doesn't work with this CSC, annoyingly. I haven't found any way around this so if you went from XSA to VAU, and VAU doesn't allow CSC change, then as far as I can tell you are stuck without rooting.
It's worth trying the service center, but I think from their perspective they see a Vodafone locked device, and therefore won't unlock it for you.

Me either. I didn't know that who updated official kitkat with KDZ cannot root. That's the biggest reason why I can't test my ROMs first
I heard there is other way to root kitkat, but to do that, my device should use jellybean and after successful root, there is no recovery to use..

Hello!
Problably several hours for others country I think.
It's been out since 7 am. We'll all still waiting for other variants, only two G928F firmware's have been released today. Sammobile doesn't have the other one, which is Baltic.
so install over Odin maybe?
As reported in @Gh3ttoKiLL4 post here, you can use the provided pit file and install using odin
If we did, we might lose Samsung Pay or Android Pay
Hello. I have G928F on 5.1.1 BTU and seeing that Poland XEO is receiving OTA update to MM I installed 5.1.1 XEO (clean, full wipe), thinking that I would instantly receive this OTA.
Unfortunately, the CSC remained BTU (firmware XEO).
Device is not rooted, forgot to mention.
Boot in recovery, format device, after booting the CSC is TPH and stays that way no matter what I do.
What can I do to change this CSC from TPH to XEO in order that everything be XEO and succeed with OTA to MM?
PLease help......
no deepsleep fix doesn´t work for me. any idea?

Hello
I am newbie here with no proper experience [ I flashed mobile with success once but it was years ago with NOKIA e90!]
I have Note 7 exynos UK VODAFONE and I did flashed it with older OEM firmware [ to bring it back to 100% battery], I downloaded from sammobile than recent one on my mobile [ limited 60% battery]
I unchecked re-partition
I used AP file there
all went fine with ODIN v3.11.1 all pass !
but once mobile started I have big message on my screen which does not disappear [ see attached photo]
unfortunately, the process
com.android.phone stopped
I can click/press OK on screen below that message, but it reappears again and again
I tried to flash it again but now ODIN says fail and something about PIT [see attached photo]
I would appreciate some help or tell me what steps I should take [ apart of surrendering phone to place I bought it from!!!]

I think I just found the reason why you got downgraded to previous firmware, it is because in Korea they are using same bootloader for all updates. I have SM-N930FD and they have different bootloader for previous and updated firmware.
Thank you for your help.
How you find it out i am curious

I have attached previous and latest korean firm ware and UAE previous and latest firmware.
I highlighted the difference. Korean firmware using same 1BP bootloader/ security patch in every korean firmware but in UAE Firmware oldest have 1BP bootloader/security patch and latest firmware have 2BP bootloader/ security patch so once you are updated to 2BP you can not down grade to 1BP but if you are at 1BP you can Install 1BP or upgrade to 2BP.
I have SM-N930FD and upgraded to 2BP so i am unable to downgrade 1BP patch firmware.
I am not good in explaining but hope you will understand what i am trying to say.LOL.
Yes 100% i do understand what you trying to say.
I thought is same for all Note 7

So is it just luck that samsung has not change the bootloader in Korean Note 7 or is there purpose behind lol

That won't work because their BETA app detects your build number and model, not only the country. So in order to be able to register you must change your firmware to the indian model one ANE-AL00 and only then change the country to India in HiCare. That should work.
Cheers,
AS
Doesn't work for me neither. Also tried to create a new Indian based account. With no luck though

To change the model would require root, right?

To change firmware you must have an unlock code to unlock your bootloader and have FRP unlocked.

No idea but that option is present in EMUI 9.
If you are rooted you even enable it.
As I wrote on Reddit:
When it will end?
And what will happen after it is ending? Will be another beta-testing for another country?
Could you provide more informations?
Also, could you keep us updated about this beta testing? How more recruits? You get the point of my questions...

I don't have any official info. But AFAIK it's for Indian region only right now. Beta will be around 30-45 days usually.
For now in Indian beta program they are recruiting 200 members.
Did you manage to succeed?
Hello. I've changed my ale-lx1c432 into ane-al00 with oeminfo flashed via recovery. Create new new email entering India and new huawei id with this in country India of course. Phone was detected as nova 3e ane-al00. So, download and installing huawei beta without sim card. Program says: sim card required(for recruitment process). After restart it says: beta not available for your phone. So its mean you need china simcard or what. But imei I think. Version c432(europen) has group of imeis. According to me, we need to change imei too. We must wait for official version of pie and emui 9.
I updated to EMUI 9 Beta a few days ago. The UI is good but as its a beta, there r a lot of bugs. I have reported 2 of them till now.
1st- you cannot close recent apps. If you close one app then open some other app, while going to close it from recent window you will be able to see all the previously opened apps.
2nd- No app can be updated from play store. I tried clearing cache and data, restarted the device but still no update.
3rd- Auto rotate doesn't work. Their is also no setting of it in the system settings.
System lags a bit also. There r some performance issues.
Beta period is till 25th April.

I have beta 9.0.1.103 installed on my phone and it runs perfectly fine. Haven't encountered any of the issues you mention. Did you factory reset your phone after updating to emui 9

Hi , as the topic says, did any tried Indian firmware in another country variant through Odin?
Yes I did.
EU version to the India version.
After that the device was unable to check for an update.
So, now on EU version again, just got the latest update.
Have a good day.
When I tried to flash Indian firmware in Australian variant , it stops at the partition failed.
I even tried to extract the pit file and flashed along with pit. But no luck .

Will NFC still work? EU version and Australian version has NFC but Indian has no NFC.
I have A505F/DS, can I install indian firmware??
You can install the software from any country as long as your devices model number is the same.
You can also flash the software from other A50 model numbers however some features may not work.
