WP7 vs. iPhone vs. Android vs. WM6.5 vs. webOS vs. Maemo - THE comparison!

Here's my comparison between WP7, iPhone OS, Android and WM6.5, webOS and Maemo!
It's been about time that somebody did it.
It's a work in progress, I will add and update things.
This chart is meant to be free from any opinion, it shall only contain the pure facts.
There's only one simple rule: No hacking! No unsupported, unallowed, illegal methods or any methods that are a breach of licence agreements.

microsoft sent a statement saying that they listened to what people have said and are looking how to put a great copy and paste in wp7.
They did not say if it will be available at launch (probably not).

We will probably have to wait until closer to launch to see how far they've gotten on that.

Of course. Any facts or at least promised features will be added, but I want to keep the chart free from speculation.

Hmm there's something strange about that chart. One of those columns just doesn't look like the other three. Wonder if options were made to reflect that?

When I made the chart, I tried to find as many categories as possible. I did not think about opinions, I just tried to collect facts.
The coulouring was done AFTER the original chart. Thus, the chart itself is in no way influenced by my opinion.
If you think categories are missing, please tell me! I want as many facts as possible, regardless of which OS they favor.
That said, I did do the colouring according to my opinion. I did not color one column after another, thus I also did not deliberately colour one of them with more green than others.
I think my methods are as balanced as they can possibly be.
If you have another opinion, feel free to colour the chart differently!

Anyone with knowledge want to add Symbian?
I hear Nokia plan to release a few great devices, but I don't know enough about Symbian, unfortunately.

I think it all depends on your view of each item. I don't think most of them can be shown as pure green or red, except maybe on the items that either have it or they don't. For example you may say full multitasking on OS is green but what comes with that? More apps may bog the system down or make the battery not last as long. I know on my Touch Pro2 I always kill an app from the task manager when I close it because I don't want it to effect anything like that. So in someone else's eyes full multitasking may not be a good thing. And differences in opinion can go either way on most of those. So yes that is your opinion and I respect it but I'll stick to the chart without color for a less biased view of the OS's.

You know what, I really cannot believe that people on this forum are even having this discussion.
UNIX was a multi-user, multi-tasking operating system RELEASED IN 1969.
That's 40 YEARS AGO.
So if you try and take the M$/Apple side on this argument, it's tantamount to admitting that technology should take a 40 year step backwards, and that you honestly believe that the development of timesharing/multi-tasking, which reinvented computing and made it accessible to every person, was a bad thing.

Yes and Apple and MS's OS's are both multitasking and multithreaded OS's. Just beause they won't allow everyone to use it doesn't mean it can't. Non multitasking systems are something like old DOS. You go to print a document and you have to wait until the entire thing is printed before you can do something else. These systems are nothing like that. They are trying to innovate how multitasking is used in order to have effeicency on their devices.

AND!!! Important, 525 and 523 won't get bada 2.0 - there will be a Value Pack - some nice things like chat on for 525 and 533. It was confirmed to me by samsung representative.

It's very interesting. Samsung's own workers say that haa. Really, if it's gonna be true a lot of user buy Bada phone for this and lot of people who sold their Wave-Wave 2 will cry

Will samfirmware release the rest of leaked bada 2.0 firmwares when there is bada 2.0 update in rusia?

If they add an android emulator to bada, I will be able to get Whatsap! That is literally the only issue I have with Bada as while I love working with wp7, until they release Apollo or a higher resolution screen format, I will rather stick with my amazingly cheap yet powerul wave 2!
Bada runs without lag. I can't say the same about most Android phones, adding the ablility to run the apps we want if we need to would make the platform a true alternative to the clusterfck of Android phones( No such thing as a cheap iOS phone or wp7 phone, Symbian is long in the tooth ).
Samsung may have let most users outside of their main areas down, but next year is another year in which they can make all things ok. (SHP I am looking at you)

I have a feeling it's in preparation towards newer version for soon-to-be released Tango? They made $90,000 already!

It's true. Moment ago I checked on Chevron page: http://labs.chevronwp7.com/ and I saw text "SOLD OUT" on the pay button

I can understand why they are not selling any more tokens, they want to see how the take is and what developers produce.
I have my token and it's been a god send, I can at least prototype and test my app locally before I decide to take a venture commercially and thus purchase the AppHub license+sub (which imo is a good deal).
Hope they haven't shut up shop, such a shame as we need support from these types of service providers (and we in turn need to support them).

No they aren't shutting down. From their tweets what I have seen is they wanted to sell out their last lot - 10,000 token ($90,000) and now MS as well as CWP7 team might sit back and expect at least 50% of these 10,000 to be developers! That will obviously surge the apps in case even if 10% of those developers indulge into marketplace - the app numbers will improve a lot! Hopefully, following Tango we might see it re-open.

Well shutting down completely maybe not but they "have no plans to aquire more tokens".
May as well be shutting down. I have my dev account so not overly worried for no but that won't last forever.

IMO that story:
Guys from ChevronLabs broken Windows Phone 7 preNoDo. Microsoft don't want war, allowed boys to earn 90000 $ by official Chevron version. Now selling tokens unlock for 9$ it's no good for Microsoft because they should close "normal" developer account (99 $ per year).

Actually not really because Chevron Labs tokens can't publish to the Marketplace. Then again I can kind of see a point with what you're saying if someone seeks personal payment for an app that can only go on Chevron unlocked or interop unlocked devices.
Though not sure how much of an impact that would really have because assuming a guy had a chevron lab unlocked device he'd still arguably be buying from both the marketplace and from "independent" developers. Assuming Microsoft wanted to take cuts from developers that badly I can see how they wouldn't let these guys sell any more tokens.

Chevron was bad news for developers. I think most of those 10 000 unlocks were from regular users, trying to install warez into their phones.

Warez?
I am not so sure most people who bought tokens were non-developers looking to sideload pirated apps. They might be more like me, looking to sideload homebrew apps for missing functionality (Advanced Config, WP7 Root Tools, Registry Editor etc.). We former WM 6.5 owners who moved to WP7 and just want to tweak performance. If I want a paid app, I'll pay for it. I want a clean phone, but slightly tweaked for my purposes. The apps (Except Navigation) are cheap and not woth the hassle of stealing.

I'm wondering when someone will come along with a proper unlock tbh
(hint: free)

Favorite thing about the Honor 8x is the screen. The 6.5 inch screen and big battery are a killer combo.

Kirin 710 Chipset, 128 GB internal storage.

These below features are the one which I like in Honor 8X
The glass back panel with metal frame makes 8X a stunning phone.
Massive 6.5" display with a 91% STB ratio which makes full use of its design.
Ultra Slim Chin makes the phone even more attractive.

HONOR 8X
I like the design of Honor 8X display, its tiny bezel make it beauty.
Also, i like what the camera Honor 8X perform from the review of youtubers, its good for the mid range phone and I can experience night mode like Mate 20 Pro. That very awesome.
Last but not least, i want to experience how this Kirin 710 chipset perform, it is good like another mid range smartphone that use snapdragon chipset.

The premium design of the phone puts other premium range phones to shame... Man this phone has some killer looks definetly going to catch a lot of attention for their owners.

Cheer for 8X
First of all the main reason i think that honor 8X can be a boom is because of it's price segment getting some impressive/massive specs under 15k is something everyone looks forward to buy. And the second reason is that it's kirin710 chipset, GPU turbo and 4/6 gigs of ram which makes the performance smooth sleek and real fast. Next main segment camera 20MP AI recognition camera with face unlock is something that many of the manufactures are not providing under this pricing segment. And the 3750mah battery i think with that much of power i can get an entire day for my usage. So there's every reason to own and love the honor 8X.

It should be the tall screen. Less scrolling when reading an ebook, article or Twitter and extra wide view when gaming is just something you can't ignore. Less finger scrolling is always a good thing.

Definitely the triptych (chipset(14nm!), cpu+gpu) will make the difference. "Endless" bezeless display as well. Seems to be a real upgrade to predecessor!
