I've seen good able bad reviews but that's the case with most products so it's hard to speak to the quality. For the price it seemed like a good deal and someone certainly got a good deal on it having to only pay shipping.

Quality is pretty solid. It covers the entire face of the phone (including the notch) with cutouts for both speakers and the proximity sensor (glass covers both selfie cameras). Does not have an alignment kit like Whitestone so definitely take your time applying it. The only nag I have about it is that it has a dot matrix for some reason...almost like it was supposed to be an edge adhesive screen protector but they decided not to put adhesive on it and just sell it with LOCA. Also worth noting, their "oleophobic nano coating" wipe will leave the glass looking a little hazy after you wipe it on. Be sure to buff/polish it after to make it smooth and shiny again. Personally, the dot matrix bugs me enough (more apparent when the screen is white) to be getting Whitestone Dome when/if it comes out for our phone. Otherwise, the most solid TGSP I've tried for the Pixel 3 XL

Thank you so much for this review. The dot matrix is an absolute deal breaker for me. I tried to use a screen protector with a dot matrix before and just couldn't un-see all of those dots!

Once the loca is applied you barely notice it. But when the screen turns all white it almost looks like there's glitter on the screen. You really kind of have to look for it. My guess is that it's similar to how loca is really good at hiding existing scratches and scuffs that your screen may already have. Wish I had another phone to snap a picture of it...

Sorry guys, I've been so swamped recently I forgot xda existed. Basically it's a product commonly used to protected the paint on cars. I used to be in the detail industry and learned all the ins and the outs of the process and after struggling with all the rather poor screen protectors available for our phone figured I might as well not use one at all.
So here goes...
Essentially ceramic coating is a process in which a liquid topical solution is applied to the intended surface and transfers a coating at the nanometer level to said surface. The liquid solution "flashes" over in roughly 1 minute but also as quickly as 10 to 15 seconds. At that point the coating is buffed with a microfiber which picks up all the excess solution and leaves behind a 100% invisible coating. I mean it's literally as if nothing is there, however I can assure you that there is. Anyway at that point your pretty much finished, however it will continue to cure over the next 24 to 72 hours. In my case I simply let my pixel set for 3 days as I don't use it daily. After that you have about the absolute toughest coating possible on your screen short of having a tgsp installed. I think I did this about 2 to 3 weeks ago now and with near daily use it's still help up perfectly. Haven't gotten a single microscratch or microswirling on my phone and the screen is still glassy smooth and fingers glide with extreme ease along the surface of my phone. I'm honestly stunned with how well it's worked. I know it's a game changer when applied to car paint but I didn't have particularly high expectations for my phone. I'll probably continue this with all future devices as well, no point to get a tgsp at this point

Would be pretty hard to scratch as it is a 8 on the mohs scale of hardness. It essentially is as tough as Sapphire! I have a zodiac watch that's 10+ years old now and I've taken it with me to many places and it's been roughed up some and the glass is still pristine not a single mark on it. My main concern is would it wear off over time, if that is the case you would need to know when to reapply. Edit: found info on a website "A Ceramic Coating is not a substitute for Paint Protection Film, which provides a more comprehensive for of defensive. Rather, it is a premium wax alternative. A Ceramic Coating creates a permanent or semi-permanent bond with a vehicle’s paint, meaning that it does not wash away or break down and does not require repeated application every few months."

If it somehow managed to get scratched it'll just be scratched. Not much to be done about it. However you can reapply any time. I have a coating rated for 5 years on a car, and that's something being exposed to constant uv from the sun and all the elements of weather. I expect that I'll never have to reapply to my phone.

It's extremely hard to scratch. I've taken knives to coated paint before and couldn't get a mark on it

Ione had it for my arc, only front though. It did protect, you can't really damage it, BUT and a big but.. I felt that the touchscreen became harder to use, and it was hard to move the finger cross the screen, because of the material it was made of. Maybe it was just me, but they sure do make good products.
i have it on my neo and must say i am disappointed, it works that's true but i have a lot of micro bubbles under my shield that looks horrible. And before i will get blamed for not following installation manual, i followed, took me like 20 minutes but still those bubbles never dissapired. Another thing i do not like is the fact its sticky and gets easily deformed on the edges. Do not buy...

They are the one who will install the ZAGG shield on my phone here, so I may not experience that problem you are facing. If i did see any bubbles on the installation ofcourse they have to fix that as part of their service.

That's one reason too why I will not replace my pre installed shatterproof screen, because of the sticky feeling on ZAGG.

I've had it installed. I've had it previously (2 years ago or more) on my iPhone and I must say that the quality was way better. My invisible shield once the phone was in my pocket and the temperature was high during this summer, it simply started to unstick, especially on the corners. I've received the replacement but did not put it on. If someone is interested, pm me, I can resell it cheaper, cause I am not going to use it definitely...

I bought the full coverage one.. it really help and still shines !!
but..
touch screen becomes less responsive, Satio has Resistive touch screen, even thought it's much better than older ones ( like W960i ) but it still not as responsive as capacitive. the shield notibaly affected the respondivity of the touch screen and the feeling of it...
after some time, the ZAGG becomes yellowish ( like any transparent plastic exposed to sun ) and if you don't take care of cleaning then you will have some issues in the shield's edges where all dust and smudges goes after cleaning...
I'm talking about more than 1 - 2 years of using it.. at the end I decided to remove the shield as it comes not so clean and too yellowish also... plus Satio doesn't worth that now !!
so if you want to replace it after some months ( or each year ) then it's okay but taking it's price into account compared to other solutions make you wonder to use it replace it more than 2 times as the phone will be old enough !!

Thanks for sharing, I think, more than 1 year is good enough for me before replacing it with a new one , and about the screen protector I might go look for another brand, I don't like the sticky feeling

- almost impossible to apply it without dust particles under it

I think that Sticky Feeling is part of the Features for "Improved Grip" which is good for the Body, but i can't say it will be good for the screen too.
Screen Responsiveness and Sticky Feeling on ZAGG screen protector is BAD, according to you guys, so thanks, I will not apply the screen protector, but it will be available in the package so i guess i will reserve it for future use
As for the Application of the Shield, they will apply it for me, it is part of the service when i bought the IShield, so i guess I won't have any problems

Sure I will, currently its been 2 weeks now, i still have a week to wait

i have just availed one last sunday (at sm which took them 30 mins to apply).
screen responsiveness is still smooth. but with sweaty hands, the sticky rubbery feeling will kick in and hence, that feeling of reduced responsiveness.
tried playing games with it and it responded fine. better even.
mine has a little bit of microbubbles but they said it was normal and i just had to wait for the solution to cure out over time.
texture so far looks like fresh paint over a not-so-smooth wall but then again, they said it will improve to a barely-there smoothness over time.
overall, i like it. my arc is sexy again!

I was Text Messaged Yesterday, Sunday, that my Ishield for Arc is already available, but didn't have time to go there, so Today I had my Ishield Installed on my Xperia Arc!

I was asking the Sales Lady(Daisy ), If any one else also ordered and installed Ishield on Xperia Arc, and showed me their log book that someone yesterday also ordered and installed Ishield for Xperia Arc, It was you
and I was curious about the newly opened shop near Ishield, an Accessory Store for phones and gadgets, I was asking for Xperia Arc if they have Casing/Leather Case/Gel Case etc and is available, they said they can request, and their request log book, I saw some people requesting for some Xperia Arc Accessories too.
I just installed the Vikuiti ADQC27.
I think pretty hard to install (it's really the size of the screen, so no space for small mistakes...), but great haptic and the touch works great, so far. But I didn't notice a anti reflection layer yet....
For all who don't want the Zagg protector for the screen.

I just installed the Vikuiti ADQC27.
I think pretty hard to install (it's really the size of the screen, so no space for small mistakes...), but great haptic and the touch works great, so far. But I didn't notice a anti reflection layer yet....

Now my Ishield on my Arc looks better now after the curing stage, but i have yet to confirm, if the sides is also included, because all Arc Ishield available currently has no protection on the sides, unlike in the ZAGG site, or in the picture in my 1st post

I owned one for a Palm Pre and its worth for what it's announced, it's nearly impossible to harm any device with it on(full body). Problem is that as time goes by it becomes full of dust, with some bubbles inside, and its a crime to beauty have an Arc in such conditions.

After dealing with all (decent) screens protector on the market I decided to remove them all even the crappy Sony film and use just an liquid.
I don't care about scratches. I mean our glass should be quite resistant.

As you can see, still finger prints, but much less than before, and now seems a bit easier to clean too.

Looks pretty nice. I'm using the Nillkin 9H on front and back and it looks and feels good. I get some smudges, and thats about it.

Definitely keep us updated, I'm interested in seeing how this works out for you. I'm also curious about those other nano coatings that I keep seeing.
Quick update. I'll post some pictures later. But so far, I'm quite satisfied. I mean is not the silver bullet but my display looks much more clean of finger prints. Sure some are there but quite normal also in phones with a native oleophobic coating. The surface looks also smoother. Keep in mind that I'm also not sure if I applied it fully correctly

Quite resistant does not mean you won't get scratches. Corning glass 3 gets scratched. If you don't care then its your call.
It only takes a little bit of sand to do it. Going naked is not worth it.
Fingerprints is not a big deal compared to scratches, at least they come off.

So it creates an oleophobic coat. That coat will wear out over time just like with other finger print resistant protectors.
So i wonder what the frequency for reapplying the coat will be ? 3 months ? 6 months ? less....
I've found precious little info as to durability of these oleophobic coats, people seem to be over the moon when they get the product and then seem to fall silent.

You're absolutely right, I usually take quite care of my phones, never applied covers or screen protector, the first is just because I usually buy a phone more for the balance between features and esthetic so cover this phone to me means: okay go and buy a Samsung.
The latter because I'm unable to find a good one (without sensor/len holes) which doesn't ruin the colors and the display experience overall.
Fingerprints makes the phone (especially at the end of the day) a dirty bag, which is ashamed to me

I read that too, obviously like for other phones which comes it a native anti fingerprint coating you should not use alcoholic liquids to clean your screen. This will absolutely help, but right now I can't say if will fall within 1 week, 1 month or 1 year. I'll keep you updated.

It's supposed to offer some like 130 coats, on the amazon page there aren't many instructions, on their youtube channel they show (IIRC) 1 or 2.
I put A LOT of them, 3 exactly which was huge so IMHO you can have easily at least 50 coats, but again it depends to you. As my GF aways says to me, I tend to exaggerate, so next time I'll try with just 1.5

Phone esthetic is probably #1 or #2 reason many people went with Z1. So here is the contradiction or let's say conundrum.
You want a good looking phone. You also want to use this phone. If there is no protection it will get scratches.
But you want a good looking phone. So what do you do if it gets scratched. How can you program your brain to ignore those scratches.
Cases there are one or two that look good but the choice is limited otherwise with Z1 for now.

Nilkin tempered glass has cutout for proximity sensor. I find people are very happy with this one. Brando also has it. Glass-M i'm not sure.
This cutout is essential for proper proximity sensor operation.
For the front facing camera its not required.

This is personal. But i find that it does not interfere with viewing too much. It's when you look at it at an angle that it looks bad. But guess what Z1 will not work too well at an angle anyway so fingerprints is not problem with this model :laugh:

Question is what happens when the coating wears out ? Does anybody know ?
Does the screen catch your finger where the coating was before. So its smooth in areas where coating is good and in other areas its little more sticky. This can get a bit annoying after some time.
The advanatage i see with this product is you clean the screen, put another coat and its new again. With the other protectors, once it wears out, then there is no way to apply another coat.
I don't think any phone comes with oleophobic layer on the screen OOTB. It's only on tempered glass protectors or in this case you apply it yourself.

That all depends on how much you dry hump your screen.
I'm two months in now ("Liquid Glass Shield"), and ready for a second coat to see if I can notice any improvement. That will give me a pretty accurate reading (seeing as I'm the only one who knows aprox how much I've been using it day to day.

Not getting that.
It becomes a very thin layer, so you sort of wear it down, very miniscule with each time you glide your finger over it.
I suspect the changes are just to slow for you to catch on, and you will just after a long while realize that it has in fact become less smooth.
For me this is no issue, as I will stay ahead of it by re-applying "sooner than later"
I do change the outlook of my phone pretty often, so my movements on the screen are fairly varied.
If you have extremly repetitive movements on the same spot all the time, maybe what you speak of can occur.

Not a very wise one. Come across many people that decided to get protectors because the last one they cared for very carefully ended up getting scratched. These phones lose half their value in a year, if its scratched your resale price goes down further. Up to you.

You care about the phone in the initial weeks after that you forget about it, other things on your mind. It becomes a daily tool, a means to an end. A bumper with something for the back & front is a minimum. A pouch is another alternative. The ergonomics of these devices really does my head in, first you find something that is comfortable or close to it then you got to do the same with a case.
Another thing is i'm not too bothered about showing off the looks, i don't want to attract attention. Sometimes yes but most times its unnecessary. Say on the street when you're clicking stuff, last thing i'm going to do is show it to a stranger.

Its not clear whether this comes standard or not as corning offers bare glass too.
Corning offers the option to have an oleophobic coating. Now whether the phone manufacturer chose it or not., which devices have this ez to clean layer or not is unclear.
The docs mention 'easy to clean' but the word oleophobic does not appear. maybe it was not in fashion in 2010 which is when this doc was made.
Complimenting Corning Gorilla Glass is a fluorosilane coating available to promote wipability for removal of fingerprints and residue to re-attain optical clarity.

How durable is cornings easy-to-wipe coating ?
The ability for easy-to-clean coatings to survive repeated wiping is paramount. As such, a test to repeatedly wipe or rub the surface and test functionality after suitable iterations is required.Testing incorporates the use of a textile instrument used to wipe one cloth across another, to test the resistance of a cloth dye from rubbing off, referred to as a“crock meter”. This sentence to me, IS ironic.
I'll flip it for you.
If you care about how your device looks, why would you wrap it up in a clunky case?
People threat their stuff in conjuction with how they care about it.
I'm fortunate enough to be able to go buy another one.
I threat it it very carefully, and if something unforeseen still were to happen, than that is the risk I have taken.
People want to protect their investment, and make it resellable, I get that.
Doesn't mean everyone who don't are reckless.
It's like buying a classy expensive couch, then laying a cheesy plastic on top of it.

Not important to show it off, but the feel in the hand, and myself admiring it is enough for me.
I wear a skin on the back, so I can put it down on unwelcoming surfaces.

This seems like a common misconception.
Alot of the products I have checked out, have explained to people in their faq's that it does not make the screen scratch proof.
It's for easier removal of grease, and for a untreated screen, it makes it smooth.
Without it, it will feel jittery, and your finger will start skipping all over.
As for the rest, I will not go into it, as it is beside topic.
I'm not a chemical engineer either, and these semantics serve noe purpose to the thread.
You seem however, interested in knowing how long these products lasts.
I used a crystalusion wipe on the previous Z I had.
Shortly after giving it away to my friend for his birthday, I tested how the screens felt next to each other.
Mine was clearly more smooth with its's fresh layer.
The layer on the Z was then maybe five months old.
So If you think it will last like half a year or more, then you might be dissapointed.
Products differ though, and their might be a better one out there that I have not tried of course
Well I don't use any protectors on my phones except for the very odd time that I don't have either a shirt with a pocket or a jacket on, for those times I use a pouch. At least that way when I'm using the phone it feels nice. I have tried a screen protector but not for me. I see friends that use screen protectors and I have yet to see a good one.
Also I find that without any protection on my phone I am more carfull with it.
I remember back in the day when I had an iphone 4s people used to spend so much on bumpers that they used to put protection on their bumpers. Funny.

Hey there guys. You might be interested in a research I've done on Tempered Glass protectors for Z1, currently available on market: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2519604
One of the most recent finds is the Crystal Armor's Luxury Edge 0.2mm Screen Protector (http://www.crystal-armor.com/#!/items/5291cf428a56105df40007b0). I believe it is the only protector without any cut-out (neither for camera nor for the proximity sensor).
I've also thought that the cutout for the proximity sensor is the essential element, but it seems that it is not after all. I'm not sure if the phone behavior stays the same after the application of the protector, so someone would have to buy it and test it. Since my Glass-M glass protector cracked (phone fell on bathroom tiles literally face down, so the protector most likely saved my screen), I think I will give it a try.

It gets quirky if the sensor is covered. The solution is to re-calibrate the proximity sensor. The Z Ultra lets you do it, i'm not sure if the Z1 can do it. yet.

heh, this is life isn't it. Unpredictable. You took the time to get a good protector and broke it shortly after. But maybe it saved you from worse and that is why you took the trouble to find one
Here is a review I posted on Amazon about my terrible experience with Skinomi that I wanted to share.
I purchased this protection kit after reading through many reviews, and looking around for something simple that also protects my device from scratches. Little did I know what was going to happen after installing the screen protector.
The rear panels have a texture to the 3M film that gives you a little better grip than the aluminum of the G Pad, and the installation instructions are not great, but a few videos on their youtube page will help out with this.
The problems started when I installed the screen protector as directed in the instructions both on their webpage and youtube page. I powered the device off and cleaned it as stated (you obviously can't remove the battery on the device and this is an optional step) then I proceeded to lightly spray the solution onto the film and screen after washing my hands and installed it. I used a plastic card along with a microfiber cloth to squeegee out the bubbles and liquid as directed. The only problem was that the LG G Pad got the liquid inside of it because my device would no longer power on (the screen would just flicker and it would shut off) I charged it and tried to boot the device to no avail. Keep in mind I did not douse the device in the spray, I used the amount that was stated I.E. lightly spray as is shown in the video.
I also did not get any liquid near the SD card slot, charging port or headphone jack (these are the only openings on the devices besides the back speakers. I am to say the least extremely upset that my brand new tablet was destroyed by the product that was bound to protect it. I am not new to screen protectors, let alone wet application ones. I have owned many over the years from the Zagg ones to a tempered glass protector and everything in between. This product cleary is at fault for their process involved, and I would not recommend it to anyone!
I contacted customer support via a phone call and I was told that its not their responsibility and there is a disclaimer on the box and inside. I looked high and low and could not locate the "disclaimer". I even took pictures and emailed it to them. I was met with a rude representative (4 actually) who constantly spoke over what I was saying, jumped to conclusions and otherwise were unhelpful. When I requested a supervisor I was told that all of them are in a meeting. I asked when the meeting would be over (but no one knew) clearly the representatives didn't want to address the actual issue. I am disgusted by the lack of support and the blatant disrespect that the company has shown toward its customers. I will be pursuing a solution through whatever means possible and spreading the word of their terrible products and practices. I wanted to share this story so others do not fall to the same fate or have their devices become inoperable due to a faulty product and a terrible company.

Update: I tried to call them back to speak with a supervisor but they blocked my cell number. When I call it says "the number can not be reached from your area code" this is a terrible company that blacklists any customers who call them out. I called from another phone at it went through.
I'm sorry to hear about your bad experience, I personally don't use screen protectors anymore. Gorilla glass and its competitors have become so good that as long as I don't keep my device in the same pocket with my keys everything is fine, and it looks much much better than with a screen protector that will always be scratched and have bubbles, it also feels much less smooth.

I feel the same way, I have a tempered glass on my Note 3 and I really like the feel of just glass. I use the G pad for my text books so I don't have to carry around 1000 page engineering books all day at school. I usually use one because I don't want to completely destroy the tablet with all f the constant moving around in my backpack. Thankfully I had a warrantee through SquareTrade which will cover the damages, but I still feel that other people should know.
I really like my G Pad and I wish that I did further research about the Skinomi protectors and wet application for the G pad so I could have avoided this. Hopefully if it can't be fixed I will have another one in a week or two, but I would be much more upset if I didn't have coverage for this. I am really meticulous when I apply these things so I am just disappointed that the G pad isn't sealed well and the fluid (soapy solution provided) is "very thin" in terms of its viscosity so it just goes into the tiniest of crevices. I might just throw my new one back into its TPU case and get a sleeve for it even though my backpack has a padded felt like pouch to prevent damaging the screen. The carbon back panels were really nice and not hard to install ones you figured out how to do the corners, but I will never use another wet application protector on a non water proof device.

I recall one of the guys on here had the same problem with another wet application screen protector. At the time it swayed me to buy a dry application Protector, but I've never been over the moon about it.
My youngest scratched it an hour after fitting when she drew across the screen with a kids pencil, which was shocking as kids pencils are so soft.
I bought a zagg in the sale last week and got it yesterday. You've made me nervous now.

I recall one of the guys on here had the same problem with another wet application screen protector. At the time it swayed me to buy a dry application Protector, but I've never been over the moon about it.
My youngest scratched it an hour after fitting when she drew across the screen with a kids pencil, which was shocking as kids pencils are so soft.
I bought a zagg in the sale last week and got it yesterday. You've made me nervous now.

I did get a refund for the protector (obviously since it broke my G Pad) and Amazon wasn't too happy with the way that Skinomi handled the situation. I can't call their number since I'm they blocked it, and their email response to me was "sorry we can't help you" and that was all.
Their customer service is on par with that of Comcast who time and time again have been rated as the worst company for customer service. Amazon told me to file a complaint against them so it can be investigated and if necessary they will take action. I am still shocked at how rude the representatives were, if you asked a question the rep would cut you off mid sentence with an answer to something that wasn't completely asked yet. Then if you ask then to please stop, the rep will say you are uncooperative and hang up or transfer you to another equally rude person. Also when I inquired as to why I couldn't speak to any supervisor I was met with a sarcastic/childish response. I always strive to be as polite as possible, but when you are constantly rude to a customer and belittle them, its understandable that I would be upset. (in their eyes if you weren't whispering you were yelling at them and it was "unprofessional")
I will definitely be taking my business elsewhere, but I wanted to get the word out about their lack of customer service and support for their own products. Especially when in my box there are no disclaimers (which were 'supposed to be in there'). I'm not blind, or dumb, but apparently I need to be able to read the invisible words on the box.
Lets hope that either the company changes for the better or people stop supporting them if this is how they act.

I wouldn't be surprised, if they find in your favour, that they suspend or even ban Skinomi from their site.
I'm not sure how you would go about it but it would be great if this made it to the xda news /portal.

sorry to hear that happen to you. wow that crazy how it got in your screen because i just installed a skinomi screen protector that i won on there facebook contest and i didn't get that problem. so do you know how did the liquid get in the screen because there is actually a gap on the screen between the plastic casing. best of luck to you.
Personally, I think that screen protectors are a waste of money and they degrade the use of the device. The real threat to these devices is a cracked screen, and screen protectors won't prevent that. Unless you wear sandpaper gloves or you're very careless, you're not likely to scratch these screens.
I went with a $10 armorsuit protector from Amazon that was a perfect fit and looks good.
I like that it makes the display a little more matte and provides a little resistance. I also hate hate hate scratches of any kind, so I never feel bad about going with a screen protector or replacing one if it gets messed up. It does absolutely stop a screen from getting cracked, but the only screen I've ever cracked was when I accidentally left it in a pocket and knelled down on it, so that's not my biggest fear.
First off, I've tried to be careful with the screen. I don't like screen protectors, but i guess now i'll have to get one. Im not even sure this screen is real glass, more like some sort of plastic composite if you ask me. I've come from the HTC One M7 and had it for over a year and a half and never had any problems with screen scratches. This just a few days and there is a noticeable scratch. Thankfully when the screen is on I don't see it. I've look at methods to remove scratches but doubt any will work on this. Only option screen protector. Just letting those of you that don't use one, you will end up with surface scratches on this device.

Do you keep your phone in your right or left pocket? I have started putting mine in my left pocket because of the steel brads on the watch pocket on most jeans and shorts. I got a scratch on my Note 2 when I first got it.
Just wondering if this could be the cause.
Not sure which pocket or if i had coins or keys that scratch it, just letting peeps know the screen isnt as hard as glass

I drive a lifted Jeep Wrangler with 35" Mud Tires. I was talking to a friend and dropped my Note 4 out the window. It fell probably 3 feet and landed on Asphalt. The only damage to it was a booger on the top right corner of the metal band. And that's with no case at the time.
Just out of curiosity, is there official documentation of what kind of glass the Note 4 has? I've seen articles that claim it's Gorilla Glass 3, but the documentation at Samsung and AT&T doesn't mention that, as far as I can see.

Instead, the lesson is to be careful about where the phone is put. I always reserve my front left pocket exclusively for the phone, and if I did otherwise I'd consider that an invitation for scratches.

I need to find a quick free scratch gone method. Help?
You should ALWAYS use a screen protector for your phone. No exceptions. It will eventually scratch and you will regret not having one on. You should also have it in a case, well at least a slim case.
This is a fragile $800 piece of equipment which you use everyday. All it takes is one careless misstep and you got a cracked screen or a dent in your brand new phone.

For the first time since my first smartphone (original iphone) I didn't use a screen protector with the Note 3. The screen remained perfect. I highly doubt they used an inferior glass to the Note 3's. At the very least it should be the same pane except with the slight curve on the edge.
While I don't doubt your screen got scratched there must be an explanation beyond that of blaming the quality of the glass.

I have to disagree. You never put a piece of film/plastic over a display, camera lens, etc. It will distort image output. I used to be a diehard screen protector proponent way back when I had my HTC EVO. I always used the most expensive kind. I remember having to change my protector one time and taking that thing off, there was a tremendous difference in screen quality. From that moment forward, I have never used another screen protector. I've owned every version of the Note and screen damage has between superficial to none. I dropped my Note 3 dozens of times on every surface imaginable, and there's only a half inch superficial scratch on the screen. Protectors are not necessary in this day and age. What's the point of having a qHD screen is you're going to diminish it's beauty with a screen protector??

You're mistaken. There are plenty of exceptions, for people who are careful enough with their phones. I've never used a case and never broken a phone, and for the last several phones I've had, I've never used screen protectors and never gotten even the slightest scratch or blemish on my screen.
Yes, I'm sure I'll end up damaging a phone once every 15 or 20 years. But if I divide that expense over the number of years involved, it will come to less cost and inconvenience than if I'd bought cases and screen screen protectors all along.
I wonder if I'm the first person to Crack their screen. 2ft drop to tile floor. I've never broken a phone before. Funny thing is my case is supposed to be here today.

Never thought about that "watch" pocket on jeans. Maybe I'll switch the phone to the left pocket and keys and such go in the right.
Although, as mentioned above I've dropped this Note 4 out of a Jeep window and had no scratches. I've also dropped it in the Jeep and had it slide between the console, under the seat and rattle around until I could stop and dig it out. Still, no scratches.

A cracking phone in more ways than oneIn an ideal world, expensive tech products would all be perfect right out of the gate and we'd never have to report on any issues. Sadly, that's not the world we live in, and every device will have the odd problem. Google's Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are no stranger to this — the latest unfortunate defect relates to the display. Several owners have reported cracks appearing on the front glass of their new Google phones, and they're at a loss when it comes to explaining why.
Numerous bewildered Pixel owners have taken to Reddit and Google's support forum to express their displeasure, with reports stretching back a couple of months. The more expensive Pixel 6 Pro, with its curved glass screen, is at fault in the majority of cases, but the regular Pixel 6 is also implicated by some. Both phones are built using Gorilla Glass Victus front and back, which is said to be the toughest phone glass on the market. This hasn't stopped units from developing cracks, with most examples starting in the corners of the display or from one of the sides. Using a case or screen protector doesn't seem to make this any more or less likely to happen.

Spontaneous screen cracks like this aren't uncommon in smartphones, and they usually stem from a small manufacturing defect that causes pressure to build up in the display glass that eventually gives in and splits. Dramatic changes in temperature can also be a cause. It's more likely that there was simply a bad batch of Pixels that went out with a particular hardware fault, rather than this being a problem that every phone might face. So there's little reason to worry if you own a Pixel 6 and this hasn't yet happened to you yet. If it has, you're sadly just very unlucky since it probably affects a minuscule percentage of all the Pixels out there.

From reading the customer complaints, it doesn't appear that the company has yet acknowledged this as a manufacturing defect — instead, the company line appears to be that these display cracks are the fault of the owners and that it isn't an issue that will be covered by the warranty. "Screens don't just crack" was the Google response reported by one disgruntled customer. This means they are having to shell out for screen replacement repairs themselves. Some are also finding that carrier insurance claims will only replace the entire phone at additional cost rather than just the screen, which is understandably very frustrating.
According to some reports, Google has said it is actively investigating the issue, so we hope they'll provide more clarity for owners and potentially free replacements if it's confirmed that there's a manufacturing defect to blame. With this many reports, it seems unlikely that user error is at fault.
We've reached out to Google for comment and will add any statement we get to this post.

and what happened to "all those" reports on "reddit" that were able to unlock their pixel 6's with a different fingerprint ...hmmm... nothing. nada. zip. or all these reports of "Google unlocking phones and accessing nudes!" at the warranty depot. jeez. what times we live in.
Pretty sure that those corner cracks are deliberate/drop damage. Many people that destroy their phone want a free new one, so they claim a "defect".
Of course it's entirely possible that some cases here are indeed caused by a defect - Phones these days are crammed to the top with stuff and since materials expand/decrease in size when they get colder/hotter, some cracks/damages might be caused even without user interaction - but it's hard to differentiate and find out the freeloaders that lie.
I did a bit of research on the topic and it seems that if tempered glass "randomly" explodes/cracks, usually the entire glass gets damaged/breaks, as you can see here.
I tried to find some genuine people on reddit that suffered these random glass going kaput problems, and the ones I found confirm my assumption

Pictures of Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra users that reported the camera glass shattering also experienced these "grand scale" breaks because of a weakpoint.

While it doesn't prove that it never happens, EVERY ONE of those images in OP's post show evidence of being dropped.
The guy didn't even bother to wipe off the dirt off his screen xD.

I have never cracked a screen and I've given my phones plenty of opportunities.
Between a TPU case (or even something more rugged) and a tempered glass screen protector, it should never happen. Always glad to replace a screen protector when it does its job.
People tend to think their cheap plastic or silicon bumper or flexible screen protector is enough.

Eh... "TPU" *is* "cheap plastic". Silicon is a much better case since it can actually dampen the shock. Its especially good when its a dual material, silicon + ABS or Aluminum.
And tempered glass screen protector... useless unless there is a soft layer between it and the phone screen, otherwise whatever force is received by the screen protector will be distributed directly to the actual screen below it. The only reason you see the screen protector break before the screen is because the screen is made out of a much more robust glass than your cheap fake-tempered glass.

I forget what rugged case I had on my original HTC Droid Eris, but back then (and several phones after that before Android Auto was available), my phones would go shooting out of their mount in the car and bounce around the back when I had near misses and had to hit the brakes hard. LOL!
Definitely OtterBox Defender the last six years.
Those look like dropped phones, not spontaneous...

Ah heck, phones used to be built better. My HTC Dream (android developer phone 1) did a few leaps onto pavement from head height, and I even stepped on it once. With the sliding keyboard mechanism, you simply couldn't put a case on it. Couple of scratches, but functionally, its good as new.
I've dropped my phone in the garage on cement. No case and no cracks. I think I was lucky.

For those who think screens don't just crack, they do.My screen cracked and was never dropped. And it has been in an OtterBox since day 3 (early November). From the pics you can see the corner of the so called "drop" somehow didn't manage to even scratch or mark up the OtterBox. Google has a problem - either there is a manufacturing defect in the brand new Corning Gorilla Victus glass, a seating problem with the glass on the phone, or the phone is not sufficiently rigid allowing the face to flex - all of which is a manufacturing or design defect and should be covered under warranty. I'm not trying to "cheat" to cover up my mistake. I have the means to fix it - I just shouldn't have to.

You clearly have a screen protector on that phone that is peeling up/cracked. I'm guessing the real screen under it is perfectly fine. Try again.

That is a badly applied screen protector, no wonder that screen protector cracked.
It pains me every time I see one of those garbage edge-adhesive protectors with the dot matrix air gap. They don't work.
As much as I'd love a full-adhesive protector without the UV glue process, they don't exist.
I always pass on using screen protectors... never been a issue with prior devices using a case with lip! Cheers
