6 vs 6.1 - Nokia 6.1 (2018) Questions & Answers

I'm sorry if this has been posted before I can't seem to find any relating the 6 vs 6.1.
I have the opportunity to buy the 6 at a low price but I'm just not sure if it's better to seek out a 6.1? I need a phone asap which is why I'd like to jump on the 6 but am I making a wrong decision? Is the 6.1 much better? Noticable?
Thanks a million for your help.

GSM arena does a good comparison site, and has linked reviews that are worth a look.
Put the following into your browser bar
(XDA will not let me posted the link directly)

The 6.1 is arguably an improved phone, based on processor performance etc. But it all depends on your specific requirements, I'm sure that many will find the 6 a perfectly capable device.

Release date of Blue Angel

Hi,
I'm looking forward to buy a Blue Angel from O2 (Xda IIs). I'm worried about how "old" this device realy is. When was it first released? It's still a good choice or there are now better options?
thank you in advance
P.S. This is my first post. I couldn't find anywhere this information...
bye
Blueangel is a workhorse... a slightly old one
Hi
Blueangel is top-shelf all-in-one device. But it seems that there are many newer alternatives from HTC.
As for now it only lacks UMTS, better than VGA camera, better than VGA display and good version of Windows Mobile 2005.
From hardware point of view, it uses somewhat old PXA263 processor.
I'm not saying that it's old... If you buy BlueAngel now it's still a good choice.
If yours budget can survive this, consider some of the newest HTC toys.
(with PXA 270, more ROM and WM2005).

Diamond....Call Quality, Volume, Signal + Battery Life

Hello,
I am seriously looking to go from my Fuze to a Diamond and was wondering the experience of the folks in this forum with the Diamond.
While using my Fuze for about 6 months, I recently tried a LG Incite, mostly because I could get a free phone update and my wife and daughters have the LG Shine / Vu and know LG makes good phones.
I got the Incite and what I learned, in spite of the Incite not being as good an overall phone as the Fuze, the Incite is a little thinner, which I like, it also does have a better signal, in my Raleigh, NC area anyway, the Incite call volume quality was better, and the battery drain was slightly better, but only a little.
While this is true, the Fuze with WM6.5 is quite the smartphone and love the various flashing options it offers. With this , I was looking for a phone with similar overall quality and ROM Chef support as the Fuze, with the same physical size as the Incite with WM6.5 ROM support, so hence my interest in the Diamond.
So with this, and hopefully w/o making any avid HTC and Diamond supporters mad, hope to get y'all thoughts on the Diamond:
- Call Quality
- Volume
- Signal
- Battery Life
- Other?
Now I know that some of the reports you may share will depend on your area, your radio, your ROM, and other, but just the same, if you can, share anyway.
Thanks in advance to all and truly and appreciate all of the great work, chef efforts and overall helpfulness from the members of XDA.

Yes, sorry, I figured that this would likely be the best location to get feedback given the ROMs and Radios effect all of the questions I asked.
So, seemed to be the best location for this Q on the Diamond?
If not the right forum, I can scrub and re-post in a more appropriate location, just seems like this is the most likely spot.

Call quality and volume are OK as far as I 'm concerned.
Signal is relevant to Carrier, location, ROM version and Radio version. But it's overall OK, too.
Battery life is rather short, but compared to how thin the device is and the fact that it's an all-in-one pda with gps, etc I wouldn't complain. You can also buy an extended 1340 or 1800 mAh battery for more battery life.
In general, it's an honest device, which does it all, and has, like all windows mobile based devs, a very large community behind it who contributes tech- know-how, applications, you name it. I wouldn't exchange mine, maybe only for a newer model?!

Touch Pro vs g1?

I saw a thread of touch pro vs the magic but what about the g1?
i use my phone mostly for texting, web browsing and gps navigation
overall how do you guys think the two compare?
Are you kidding?
Enter to a Nike store and ask for Puma, what will be the answer
After that said, my opinion:
Android is an immature OS and cant be compared with WM (With all its defects) at least now. I´m sure in the future would be a great option but not now...
G1 design is not very nice, just my opinion.

Which one would be more expandable though?
The WM os or the Android?
There is a crap load of applications for the android already, just wondering how the two compare.
Also bringing the option of other unlocked phones vs both the g1 and touch

Run Android on WinMo 7

I have followed XDA for quite some time and have been waiting for someone to get a little bored with android like myself and start the modding of the new WinMo 7 phones to run both Android and WinMo 7. I can't find anything on it. Is it just not possible (yet)??? I know the devices can handle it...1ghz, 16gb internal, plenty of memory...Vibrant, etc. Seems like the perfect device for a dual boot Eclair/Froyo and WinMo 7. Windows Mobile 6x running Android is old and the 1st one I did was the Tytn II by HTC. Slow, but it was still nice to have both.
Any Devs out there wanna push this? I'll buy hardware and do any tests wanted. Seems Samsung specs are pretty equal between the Vibrant and Focus or even like the port of Android to the HD2...can it be done using the HD7 from T-Mo?
In the case of Samsung, why wouldn't you just get the Captivate (Galaxy S)? Already has Android. The Focus is basically the same phone...

why start from ZERO when HD2 is already running Android pretty smoothly and will be getting wp7 soon? Not to bash or anything but wp7 may not be as easy to tinker with as compared to wm6.

Thinking of buying this instead of a G3.

Hey,
so I just watched a review about the Oppo Find 7a. And I have to say that it I felt in love with it.
First I wanted to buy a LG-G3 because of its awesomeness, but know that I found the Find 7, I feel like I should buy this instead of the G3.
But there are a few things that I'd like to ask you before.
- Where's the difference between the 7 and the 7a? I heard the 7a owns a slower CPU/GPU, a smaller battery and a smaller resolution. And I also heard that the 7a seems to have the better display, because its more saturated, brighter and overall the viewing experience should be better than on the 7. Is that right?
- Will there be custom roms? I think I won't like the ColorOS, because I'm using "stock" android since 2 years now and I got pretty used to it. So I'd like to flash a custom rom, running KK4.4.2 (Omni,CM, ..). What do you think?
There are many things that I like on the 7 (MaxxSound, SD Slot, ..) that the G3 will not own. I am pretty unsure if I go with the G3 to get guaranteed custom roms and take out that it doesn't have such nice features as the 7, or I go with the 7 and maybe don't get custom roms :/ Whats your opinion?
for the differences between 7a and 7 is best to check here:
http://en.oppo.com/products/find7/#find7-specs
difficult to compare displays at this point because find 7 is not available yet. I saw that article with display comparison somewhere on the net, but these were pre-production units ant things may change by the time find 7 is available
custom roms for find 7a are already available (cm 11s port, gummy rom, omni, I heard MIUI will be available) so am sure that find 7 will get them too...
I switched from LG G2 to find 7a and must say I do not regret it..display is great, sound as well, phone is snappy...
was just one of that unlucky guys which got units with yellow tint at the bottom of the screen. but have already contacted oppostyle and agreed with them that if the tint will not go away within one week, they will replace the phone
hi,
I bought my selve a find 7a and i can tell you that it is one of the better phones i have owned.
personally i think that on this moment the 1440p screen in the find 7 will be to demanding for other internal components.
and about the roms, i've been flashing some now and ican tell you that even in this beta stage, they all run almost flawless.
i wish you good luck deciding.
The find 7a has some great hardware but so far was a mediocre choice in terms of software.
Thanks to the recent wave of custom ROM goodness though it's become a extremely viable option.
IMO the hardware is solid and holds its own with anything available now, the software not so much. I cant say for certain but IMO the alpha roms all of which I have now tried show extremely great promise and its my belief that the software side of the equation will be as solid as the hardware sooner rather than later. I would say that were I on the fence now I would wait for the 7 to get a little closer before I bought in. It may be you want to go that way (or not) and you will have answers very soon on the worthiness of the upgrade from 7A.
Thank you all so far!
So, it's not long until LG will present their new G3. I will wait til the final release, when the final specs are published. Then I have a direct comparison between those two.
But it seems like I will choose the F7/a because of the MaxxSound feature and for expandable memory which LG obviously won't implement to the G3. And if you all tell that you're looking forward to custom roms on the F7, then there's another reason for me to pick it

Well, there are multiple reports suggesting that the G3 will have a microSD slot. I mean.. it will most probably support UHD recording.. and where do you expect anyone to store all that data?
Not so familiar with MaxxSound, but I tested the 7a a few days ago and I was super pleased, just as tested by GSMarena.
As for G3, there are reports on it having a 1W speaker, and that's gonna be loud too.
So.. IF what I said were to be true, then the G3 being a smaller (and possibly lighter) device would be a winner. End of the day, the cost also matters.
Waiting for announcement here as well...
Keep in mind that MaxxSound or MaxxAudio (or whatever it was called) goes away if you install a different ROM. Some features such as double tap to open are in some of the ROMs, but some might not be.

I don't think that it is so hard to add it to a custom rom or is it? I mean ROM-makers do/did incredible stuff.
Awaiting today's LG-G3 livestream presentation

just seen a video for g3 and it looks stunning
