I remembered this at the last minute unfortunately, however I did a brief test and it worked flawlessly. But it was just a one minute test. I'll try to remember tomorrow, sorry.
I used my MI5S today morning to navigate to work (with Waze on XiaomiEU ROM) and it performed flawlessly. It got signal in a second and hold it rock solid till the end of the trip.
Very good GPS also for Mi5s Plus

The steps i've done are:
-1 download retbr firmware
-2 renamed to "update.zip"
-3 copyed in "adb" folder
-4 opened cmd.exe with admin privileges in the adb folder
-5 rebooted my MZP into fastboot and selected recovery
-6 in recovery i've selected "apply update from adb"
-7 typed in cmd "adb devices" for see If the phone was connected
-8 typed "adb sideload update.zip"
-9 waited half an hour
-10 when finished, i've wiped my user data + personal files
-11 then rebooted.

I don't believe so. But it shouldn't be a problem - they've officially confirmed that we'll have it on the Play in Q4, so it'll be here within the next four weeks.

Yeah, I'm not too worried that we aren't getting it this quarter. I'm merely curious. A soak test would mean that a roll-out would be closer to two weeks from now than to five.
Daydream VR ready certification would also be interesting. I see little reason to deny it to the Z Play, the 625 should be capable enough to do at 1080p what the 820 can do at QHD - and 1080p would be enough to be Daydream ready.

How did you get it? Are you currently breaching an NDA or do you have exclusive information about a soak test that you aren't making public for some reason?
If it's a soak test, please provide us with the about screen screenshots. If it's a closed, secret beta, provide proof or shut up for your own good.

Elephone S8 [2K 6" screen Budget Phone] Review, Benchmarks & Development Information
I was hoping to find Elephone S8 forum or some threads on this site, but apparently, there is none yet. So, I will give a mini-review from my few days of usage to perhaps start some development discussion on the site. Oh and, I'm not with Elephone or any other marketing firm.
First of all, why I bought it.
2017 is full of big screen and bezel-less smartphones, most of which have a fingerprint scanner on the back. I don't really like the design of this year smartphones, not even Samsung Note 8 or iPhone X, not to mention their steep prices. Looking for my Oneplus 1 replacement, I wanted a mid-range phone with a big rectangular screen, with no notch or curved sides, and a fingerprint scanner on the front. Elephone S8 seems to have decent specs and budget-friendly. To me, it is not a clone of Samsung Galaxy S8 at all.

It looks quite good.
It comes with Noagat 7.1.1 out of the box.
After I turned it on, there was already a firmware update.
After updating, the latest ROM build number is Elephone_S8_20170927.
The ROM is almost AOSP, with additional settings and apps. Here are interesting settings.
A few extra apps come pre-installed. To my surprise, Elephone S8 has an FM radio receiver which is not even listed on their official specs page.
Malware-Bytes Anti-Malware 3.0.0.26 doesn't find any malware.
Here are hardware details from CPU-Z 1.23.
GPS is quite OK, testing outside on a cloudy day.
Benchmarks are good for a mid-range phone.

The fingerprint scanner is quite accurate and fast enough for me. As I miss my Oneplus' Double Tap to Wake function, I use the fingerprints scan just to wake up the phone.
On camera, I'm not really into mobile photography. I took a few photos. They look OK, but the focusing is slow. I may upload a few photo samples later.
Battery life is so-so for me. I have around 14 hours with 4 hours of screen-on time per charge, but that is my usage.

Unlock Bootloader
I have tried many things with no success.
Trying "fastboot oem unlock", and I find that when prompted on the fastboot mode screen to select Yes/No to unlock, there is no way to select Yes. Volume-up and Home keys don't do anything. Only Volume-down key works to select No. By the way, on fastboot/recovery mode screen, the text is too small, I actually need a magnifying glass to read it. Looks like the bootloader and recovery modes don't display properly on the 2K resolution.
Another problem I encounter is that I cannot boot directly into Recovery or Bootloader mode by pressing the hardware keys. Normally, Power and Vol-up keys get me Recovery and Power and Vol-down keys get me Bootloader. No matter what key combinations I try, I just cannot boot into Recovery or Bootloader. Those hardware keys work fine on others. I'm not sure if it's just my unit.

Change screen resolution
If 2K resolution is not for you, you can change it via ADB commands like this:
wm size 1080x1920 (for example)
The density can also be changed to make items on screen bigger or smaller like:
wm density 480 (for example)
Default values are 1440x2560 for size and 560 for density.

I am very happy to see your reply. This is what I was hoping for.
I went to the site, registered and downloaded your ZIP file. I then flashed the preloader and boot files using SP flash tools. It went fine and I got the "Download OK" message.
After rebooting, I do not see Magisk or Supersu, and the build number is unchanged.
Did I miss something?
By the way, my bootloader is locked. I cannot unlock it as mentioned on my post#2.
Please let me know what I am supposed to do. I can't use my phone without root.

Flash boot IMG via flashtools.
Reboot. Then Google and go to apkmirror or magisk XDA side and search for magisk manager. Install the APK . Done.
So all you need to do is flash my boot.img and download and install magisk manager APK.
. The build number don't change. This is only for root..

Hey skeleton, great to see you here, I guess you skipped the S7 ! My S8 is "in the mail" . It is going to be great to have Eragon on my boot screen again. Have missed it since my P8000 became my alarm clock but I think this S7 is a damn nice phone even with rooted stock ROM and the bigger screen with same guts was the deal clincher for me to order the S8. Look forward to your excellent work.

I bought an SM-R800 46mm BT and since the first time, I have never even been able to see applications and or watch faces that are not for free. No content that is not free is active for me. He doesn't even show up. There are plenty of watch faces I would like to buy but can't. I like the watch faces of MATTEO DINI, SPLUGEN, SWF and BERGEN.
I did the procedure of moving the CSC region to XAR (USA) and what changed was that I was able to enable Samsung Pay only. I saw that there also has the option ZTO. If I change again will I succeed? It is paired with a Xiaomi Mi9 with all updated programs. Do I need a Samsung phone paired with it to buy content?

You can pay with Paypal also, but I think OP's problem might be related to country of origin limitations.
Paypal only if you have a Samsung phone.

Ive been searching everywhere on the net for a battery replacement and nothing has come up. My pixel C screen was lifting so I removed the screen to find the battery corroding and expanding. The battery must be replaced but I think there are none available anymore. This could be the end for the Pixel C and its too bad. These tablets are still ahead of 90% of all tablets tested by 3dMark. This is still a very viable tablet and without replacement batteries available, its not a good sign.

Yes I have searched ebay, aliexpress and much much more. I went through 40+ google results and tried to add to cart or inquire regarding this specific battery. As far as I can tell there are none anywhere and no one is making an aftermarket battery. Unless someone is up for the challenge to prove me wrong.:laugh:

Regarding replacement batteries, you will find that OEM replacement-anythings are not produced or sold for any devices anymore, since the cost to employ repair technicians is now greater than the cost of producing a new device everywhere in the world. As a consequence, all replacement parts sold are stripped from existing devices. Because of this fact, the longer a device has been out of production, the less likely the possibility that you will find any wear and tear items in as-new condition. For screens, you will increasingly only find replacements that were polished to have scratches removed — along with the Gorilla coating (making them much more likely to collect grime and crack). For the Nexus 9, you will realistically not find a replacement battery with more, or even the same remaining capacity, vs the one you’re replacing. I'm looking at a way to remove the battery totally from the C and power it by an external power bank or the charger. I plan on doing something similar for the C but won't be able to get it done for a number of months due to circumstances beyond my control. Also, I'm not severely hindered as when my first C battery became swollen, Google sent me a refurbished replacement. Well, actually Google screwed up and sent me two replacements(same tracking number, 2 different packages), and only one of them currently has a swollen battery...
If anyone is desperate, and maybe a bit less electronically challenged than I am, they can have a go at this, otherwise we can wait till later and I'll give it a shot.
