GPS quality - Xiaomi Mi 5s Questions & Answers

Hi,
Does any of you have problem with the GPS or navigation in general?
I had a P9000 before and it was a pain in the arse.
Thanks,
Gaetano

I remembered this at the last minute unfortunately, however I did a brief test and it worked flawlessly. But it was just a one minute test. I'll try to remember tomorrow, sorry.

I used my MI5S today morning to navigate to work (with Waze on XiaomiEU ROM) and it performed flawlessly. It got signal in a second and hold it rock solid till the end of the trip.

Very good GPS also for Mi5s Plus

n1 can update o-click

Interesting bit I found on the chinese n1 forum:
http://bbs.myoppo.com/thread-1934885-1-1.html
You can use the N1 to update the O-click's firmware.
I'm not sure what the new features it's talking about do.

That's really cool, thanks for sharing.
So far, I think the O-Click has a lot of potential, although I've seen some connection issues and the battery door is INCREDIBLY hard to remove...so I hope that coin cell lasts a long time!
The "Version upgrade" is available now in the O-Click settings. It doesn't pull an upgrade when clicked, but it is enabled.
Soooo... This happened today.

Have you noticed any difference in the O'click behaviour?

It seems to stay connected much better, as well as connecting very quickly after turning bluetooth on and pressing the button once. I tested randomly throughout the day after connecting and it held the connection very well without draining the battery on the N1.
I'm waiting to see if they open if/when up for changes and modification.

Found no info on that. Use freedom OS until LOS is ready as daily driver.
Sad thing is AFAIK LOS will not support full camera features.

I don't think that will be a big issue. I know on my Nexus 5X, I just delete Snap entirely, and use a Google Camera port for it. It takes much better pictures anyways on my 5X than Snap. Sadly my 5T is still sitting in the box while my 5X is used daily until Lineage becomes available......

Do you have any details on the changes expected?
Be carefully... Maybe Samsung increased Security sh it:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=79630579&postcount=91
Not tested...
IMHO this way should work... more safe...
FIRST--->Combination Firmware--->then lower Stock Firmware
If I am wrong...
then something like this at home possible:

With USB cable...
Best Regards

Suppliers don't carry Pixel C battery replacements anymore???

Ive been searching everywhere on the net for a battery replacement and nothing has come up. My pixel C screen was lifting so I removed the screen to find the battery corroding and expanding. The battery must be replaced but I think there are none available anymore. This could be the end for the Pixel C and its too bad. These tablets are still ahead of 90% of all tablets tested by 3dMark. This is still a very viable tablet and without replacement batteries available, its not a good sign.

Yes I have searched ebay, aliexpress and much much more. I went through 40+ google results and tried to add to cart or inquire regarding this specific battery. As far as I can tell there are none anywhere and no one is making an aftermarket battery. Unless someone is up for the challenge to prove me wrong.

Im still looking for a replacement battery for the Google Pixel C. There seems to be none left in the world.
Has anyone found a place to buy batteries for the Google Pixel C ? Please PM me.
The guys here https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-7-2013/nexus-7-2013-qa/replacement-battery-t3405361 had some interesting ideas about replacement batteries for the nexus 7. Obviously a bit of legwork will be required to get something workable for the C but it shouldn't be insurmountable.
So what are the actual dimensions of the battery components on the pixel c?
Seems available here:
https://www.battery-store.eu/laptopcomputer/1004291.htm
Well, hey, on this battery search, let us know if you find any screens!
From a thread on ifixit..
Regarding replacement batteries, you will find that OEM replacement-anythings are not produced or sold for any devices anymore, since the cost to employ repair technicians is now greater than the cost of producing a new device everywhere in the world. As a consequence, all replacement parts sold are stripped from existing devices. Because of this fact, the longer a device has been out of production, the less likely the possibility that you will find any wear and tear items in as-new condition. For screens, you will increasingly only find replacements that were polished to have scratches removed — along with the Gorilla coating (making them much more likely to collect grime and crack). For the Nexus 9, you will realistically not find a replacement battery with more, or even the same remaining capacity, vs the one you’re replacing. Again, keep in mind: we’re talking probabilities, not absolutes. Your friend may get a good part from a place one day and you won’t, the next day (or vice versa).
[/unquote]
I'm looking at a way to remove the battery totally from the C and power it by an external power bank or the charger. The nexus 7 users came up with a mod to accomplish this to use the device powered by a car. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9N2Bh4fI8Bo. Nexus 9, which has a similar setup to the C(dual batteries) has a thread here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-9/help/nexus-9-battery-mod-t3798212
I plan on doing something similar for the C but won't be able to get it done for a number of months due to circumstances beyond my control. Also, I'm not severely hindered as when my first C battery became swollen, Google sent me a refurbished replacement. Well, actually Google screwed up and sent me two replacements(same tracking number, 2 different packages), and only one of them currently has a swollen battery...
If anyone is desperate, and maybe a bit less electronically challenged than I am, they can have a go at this, otherwise we can wait till later and I'll give it a shot.

I just purchased one and will attempt surgery/installation after it arrives.
Fingers crossed....

Call recording? Where to buy?

I very much want to retain call recording on my next phone (which I need to buy asap before my old one dies). I was going to go with the OP7T since I have read it is still possibly with a rooted phone and it is one of the very few with for still possible.
Rooting without a idiot-proof tool-program is a bit off-putting though. And call-recording is the only reason I am interested in rooting (haven't felt the need for many years).
I have read that OnePlus phones have call recording enabled anyhow depending upon where the phone is purchased. What places would those be? UK or anywhere in the EU? USA? Gearbest?
Thanks in advance! I've just read the Asus ZenFone makes rooting incredibly easy so I guess that's also an option?

How well is the call-recording working for the those of you enabling it with jOnePlus Tools w/o root?
I have read mixed reviews. So whats your experience?
I assume there is no other way enabling call-recording w/o root?
it's a shame that this core feature is hidden by the corporate.
however the function is there with every device i had since this option was hid.
that's why i prefer rooting to enable it.
rooting OnePlus is the easiest of all brands.
plus, the external apps are rarely working, and you have to pay to play.
Nevermind...
