My Mi Max 3 got bricked after doing a OTA update, totally dead, how to do EDL? - Xiaomi Mi Max 3 Questions & Answers

The background
My mi max 3 decided to do a ota update overnight and then it got hard bricked. While charging the charge light no longer goes on and all manner of button pressing does not get any response. All 3 buttons, power and volume up/down all do nothing. The phone appears totally dead.I tried the various button combinations while a usb cable to the pc was plugged in. The phone is not rooted, it was never installed with any custom roms, and has been using the global stock rom since day 1 in sep 2018. The last ROM I was on was global stable 10.3.3.0 PEDMIXM.
What I've done
I managed to get my xiaomi account authorized, and then I used miflash 2018.5.28 to flash the latest global stable ROM 10.3.3.0 PEDMIXM, but the flashing kept going and did not stop even after more than 10 minutes.
I also got many 'cannot receive hello packet' errors.
Now when I try to reflash again, I get a message saying my account is not authorized.
My phone is still dead, totally black screen with no charging light when charging.
Can anyone help? I tried opening but I can't figure out how to do it, it's too tight. I can't send it to the service center either, as this is an export set and they insist that they will only fix local sets. If there is someone who can assist remotely I can pay a fee too! But only if it works.

Tried to reset by shortcut buttons? This will reset your device and data will be lost. You can back up files via fastboot.
Do you have unlocked bootloader?
If so
1) Flash TWRP and then a Rom, like Xiaomi.eu the latest versions.
If no
2) Try to unlock even with the broken Rom. If you have your linked Xiaomi account, you can get it. You can change the OEM unlock flag by fastboot. If you can, go back to step 1.
If nothing works, then you have to go to the authorized or through the test point.
I always unlock my devices, because in case of errors, I can resurrect them through TWRP.
Good luck.
PS. Try logging in with a Xiaomi account at Xiaomi Tools.

There are some contacts over the internet that connects to your machine via Team Viewer and log in with an authorized Xiaomi Tools account and you will be able to pass a new Rom.
Search the internet and Xiaomi forums.
Perhaps this is the fastest and safest way.
Generally this service is charged but pays off.

I maybe have a solution for you. I am going to write you instructions later today with some modded files you can try out.

Try this
1. download MIUI 10 V10.0.3.0.OEDCNFH and extract it to folder with a short name (less then 7 characters)
http://bigota.d.miui.com/V10.0.3.0.OEDCNFH/nitrogen_images_V10.0.3.0.OEDCNFH_20180914.0000.00_8.1_cn_e343c7cf58.tgz
2. download "Bypass EDL Auth replace file from fastboot version.zip"
https://mega.nz/#!GIo22IAA!FZGxQaw0dIieQhvvAsFlpclIXmKm-tb_4576Q12yffQ
3. extract "Bypass EDL Auth replace file from fastboot version.zip to a temporary location and replace the file prog_emmc_firehose_Sdm660_ddr.elf in the MIUI 10 V10.0.3.0.OEDCNFH firmware folder.
4. try flashing again with Bypass EDL Auth replace file from "Bypass EDL Auth replace file from fasstboot version\MiFlash2018-5-28-0\XiaoMiFlash.exe"
Good luck. Hope it works for you I have not tried it myself

Soft unbrick
TRY THIS! I SOMEHOW UNBRICKED MY DEVICE
CREDITS TO XDA FORUM
(https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-max-3/help/guess-somewhat-kinda-bricked-nitrogen-t3848922)
First, check if your phone is being detected as Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 (if not do test point https://en.miui.com/thread-3765172-1-1.html)
Second Install Xioami Mi Flasher Beta Version
(http://en.miui.com/thread-281979-1-1.html)
Third download this flash boot ROM
(http://bigota.d.miui.com/V9.6.12.0....EDCNFD_20180820.0000.00_8.1_cn_5e8d0ddf88.tgz)
Forth Unzipped the .tgz file and get/move the .tar file to C:\ (Computer Disk Drive)
Fifth, Rename the .tar file to MiMax3.tar
Sixth, extract the file
Seventh, Open the Xiaomi Mi Flash Tool Beta Version then locate the file Mimax3 (C:\Mimax3\nitrogen_images_V9.6.12.0.OEDCNFD_20180820.0000.00_8.1_cn)
Eighth Select Clean All and Flash
If error occured long press the power button and release it once sound connected, refresh or close the Mi Flashtool then flash
I hope this one can work. My Mi Max 3 is working again.

[SOLVED] Rooting HDC Galaxy Note 2 Mega (MTK6577)

Hi guys!
Just recently I bought the "HDC Galaxy Note 2" off of fastcardtech. I got it a few days ago, am fairly pleased with it except for the slight miscalibrated touch screen. There are some apps on various markets aiming to fix this by re-applying new calibrations. The problem is that you'll have to be rooted in order to run them.
The phone comes with a built-in calibration setting, called "Als_ps calibration", which you can utizile to correct the sensor. Alas, it only corrects the phone's recognition of obstacles placed above it, so that you accidentaly wouldn't press any undesired button during a call.
Phone: http://www.fastcardtech.com/Galaxy-Note-2-Mega
Here's what I've done so far!
Enabled USB-debugging and installed USB-drivers. [MT65xx_USB_Driver.zip]
Tried the bin4ry root method, normal mode. [Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v18.zip]
This method:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460
Everything works just fine until the phone reboots. Bin4ry is then unable to mount or copy the last files needed to apply root permission, see attached picture.
I have attached my specs in a screenshot, nevermind the quality, t'was done by another crap-camera! Sorry ;]
Any kind soul who can help me root this thing?
Edit:
Rooting this device has been made possible by GT35pro. See posts below.

After you have clockwork mod recovery, use it to flash the root access into the phone.

Extra Guide
Follow the link provided by GT35pro in his first post.
To everyone attempting this flash;
!! First of all, copy the Superuser.zip to the root of your internal phone memory or external SD Card.!!
* Use a high-quality mini-USB cable (The one that comes with your phone should work just fine)
* Connect your MEGA to your pc, without the battery inserted.
(This device will connect and disconnect, when it's visible, be sure to grab it and follow the next step)
* Make sure that you have the right drivers for MTK65xx preloader "mtk65xx Vcom driver" and install them through the Device Manager.
* Insert your battery again, with the cable still connected, and install the second MTK65xx preloader.
* Disconnect phone from pc and remove the battery
* Start up Smart flash Tool and select the scatter file included in the package.
* Now, select and tick the checkbox for Recovery only. Smart Flash Tool will complain about the flash, due to it not containing all the appropriate files needed for a "secure boot". Nevermind that pop-up and proceed with downloading.
* Start Download
* Insert the battery and connect your phone to your pc, with that, the flashing should start.
* Boot Phone into recovery mode (pwr button and vol - or vol +) and install superuser from ZIP-file.
* After reboot you should be rooted.

Fun Fact!
I actually managed to install a pre-rooted HDC S7100 rom on my MEGA.
The port isn't 100% accurate
-Invalid IMEI, this was fixed by Talkingmobile's guide; " how to write imei number for MTK 65XX " -Just google it!
-Auto-rotation is unavailable, no fix yet.
-Als_pl calibration is unavailable (resulting in active screen during call)
Besides that, the rom is arguably better than the MEGA's original N7100 rom, in terms of visual presentation.
Smooth transitions, vivid and vibrant colors would be a good example of aspects that would come out as improved over the original rom.
Interested in the S7100 rom? Just PM me and I'll provide the link.
Cheers!
S_ft_need_download_all_fail (4050)
I'm trying for several days, but always get this error in the flash tool: S_FT_NEED_DOWNLOAD_ALL_FAIL (4050)
Tried on Windows 7 x64, Windows 7 x32 and Windows XP SP3 (x32). Only on the Windows XP computer I was able to make a backup with Flash Tool using the Read Back option.
When I try to flash the red bar goes to 100% then the error message shows...
Does anyone get this error aswell, and did someone manage to solve this?
Please help, I'm in desperate need for root because I need touch screen calibration.
Thnx!!
YES! SUCCES!! I managed to root my HDC Mage  Did use another method though, check http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2160490 if you are interested.
Anyway, now back to calibrating the touchscreen. What tools are good do fix touchscreen issues? I already tried http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=934500, but I still am not satisfied.
Thnx :good:

Because I tried to order 5 different phones from China including Fastcardtech; they couldn't ship for some reason; even got an empty box from ZOPO mobile. I ended up buying the BLU here in the US, I'm kind of glad it happened, since now I have an N'vidia Tegra 4 CPU, that runs circles around the dual-core phones.
I did order one more phone on ebay from China, been waiting for 2 weeks now. MAKES ME WONDER IF THEY EVEN ACTUALLY SHIP TO THE US AT ALL?
Thank to Paypal I was able to get refunded everytime.

An 80Xx error does not always mean device not connected. It can also mean there is something not right in the scatterfile (error 8038). You should take a look at the sp flash tool logfiles. You can post them here so I can have a look.

There is something wrong in the layout of the scatterfile. Can you post the logiles of sp flash tool? Just zip them all together.
I have had the exactly the same error with my HDC Mage. I just had to rename a small section of the scatterfile and then it was all good.

your device is corrupt. it can not be trusted and not boot

I'm sorry if the post is not in the right place.
I own a z2 force that turned itself off and the rear camera did not work.
Putting the "power low" message on the recovery screen, even when the full charge appeared, after a time off "power ok" was displayed.
One moment he did not call any more and I tried bootloader, but without being able to activate usb debugging (my fatal error!), Now the message "your device is corrupted. It can not be trusted and it does not boot" and I can not unlock bootloader nor flash a new rom to boot the device.
obs: camera and battery problems appeared after the upgrade via ota to 8.0 actions
Solved.

I was able to start the device after hours looking for a solution, now I'm flashing a new rom to try to fix the camera problem and automatic shutdown.
How do you solve it?
I usually buy second hand Motorola phones (also this ATT Z2F), but I've never met the problem on individual hardwares yet (like camera, fingerprint sensor). Almost errors can be solved via flashing a right firmware. I think you can now flash fw via Lenovo Moto Smart Assistant (LMSA). If you use flashall.bat method, just take a look at the xml file and compare it to the content of flashall.bat (two types can be opened by Notepad, Notepad++ is recommended). The xml one shows what will be flashed.
For example: in the xml one has oem.img_sparsechunk.0-1-2, but in flashall.bat only has: fastboot flash oem oem.img
If you continue, your phone won't boot.
You have to edit flashall.bat:
fastboot flash oem oem.im_sparsechunk.0
fastboot flash oem oem.im_sparsechunk.1
fastboot flash oem oem.im_sparsechunk.2
Save and continue your works.
The xml is the standard file for RSD Lite. But, RSD seems not to be supported on recent PC hardwares, so step-by-step fastboot or flashall.bat is recently used. Therefore, just take a look before flashsing (other preparations won't be mentioned here). You should flash the equal or higher version to your current fw version on your phone.
Hope this works for you all.
i'm facing same problem,

Huh, it's not just binding your PRIVATE pc with your Mi account. Auth_whatever.exe allow me to login without any errors, ready to flash message not red unauthorised account warning.
I think my account authorized because either I plead to them for giving me authority to FLASH when on RN3PRO BIG MESS CASE, I must apply form in CHINESE (there was tutorial because I dunno any Chinese). I need one because very hardbrick after flashing alpha rom, yes one dead phone with no fastboot / recovery revived :silly:
Either that or because my account bonded and already unlock dozens different models devices (I am reseller, some people especially old ppl and technology illiterate ones let me managed their phones account).
Binded account unfortunately won't be able to be used on other pc. I got a notice that I will only got limited access for a week or so if I change the pc I Binded, so sharing is impossible.
If you ever ask authority to flash in Chinese and got accepted (I need to wait 5 days after submitting request) chance you got one authorized account
Hello,
I tried to use my standard mi account, just in case (spoiler, didn't work) and the download process is stuck at the state it is just before pluging the phone. I mean, pluging the phone does not start anything, but still my computer sees the phone. The flash tool does not display any error about authorization.
Does anyone know if it's a normal behaviour ? It sounds a bit strange not to display any error.

°i disassembly my cellphone and disconected and re conected the battery but nothing
°i'm trying to drain battery power to 0% because it was charged to 80% and now i'm connecting some things to negative and positive parts of the cable of the battery to consume energy and drain the battery
°i tried "test point" but it is the same has enter to the recovery (vol+ pwr) because it boot to the recovery, and it ask me for MI account authorized when i try to flash stock rom in sp download tool
my redmi note 8 pro only led blinks when i connect the usb to my pc or when i charge it.

Haven't they changed the need for an authorized account? I bricked my RN8P and tried this.. the first time I used my mi account I got an error upon login, but the second time I tried it a bit later, it worked.. Does this mean I have an authorized account now? The unbrick process worked like a charm btw. I however, had the preloader files installed as stated somewhere else on this forum (preloader_begonia and lk).

Is that the same case as The Great Anti Rollback Pandemic? I've messed up my Note 5 Pro and missed the chance to apply for special permission, so got that bad boy resurrected with a bypassed xiaomi flash.

Stuck in recovery
Hi guys
i'm stuck with my RN8P CN, I've made mistakes while thinking I have a global version but instead I have CN version. So now my phone is stuck with no rom and I have thestock recovery, the bootloader is locked, fastbook is ok.
But when i want to use mi unlock to install TWRP and the stock rom it failed saying "please add your account in MIUI settings".
How can i do that without a rom ? Or so, do you have a guide for getting back a stock phone with stock recovery/rom ?
Thanks in advance guys

Unfortunately, there is no helping as per today for your condition. Your only choises is:
Go to Xiaomi Service Center nearby,
Buy a Third Party smart box based flash solution (it cost fortune, but worth for investment if you see your smartphone as "toys").
Buy a Third Party account to authenticate flash with third party flash solution (No smartbox needed, and cost a fraction of fortune).
Go to a nearest phone repair shop (They usually have one of two flash solution above, cost around $20-$30, depends on your region)
Use a Remote-based flash solution (You connect your phone to your computer, repairman will ask you to install necessary tools, and control your PC via remote desktop)
Buy a new phone (totally cost an arm and leg)
As none of solution above is supported by this community, you will have to go on your own.
Cheers.

Redmi 6 Pro - Stuck at Fasboot (there are many details)

Greeting you. This device firstly was stuck at "Mi" logo where "Android..." was loading. I left it may be week. Then I could get to fastboot mode. However, now it`s not going out from it. I can't unlock bootloader because it says to me "go so miui settings-> sign in" and etc. I cant even turn this phone on. If I could, I wouldn't even need this things.
So Mi Flash tool either not works. Firstly it says "mismatching device and..". So I've deleted that line from flash_save data_.. - named bat file. It now gave me next error. "erase boot error". So I took and deleted this one too). To see what happens. It gave me next error - which is in next line and all around. What a system! So, any ideas where even I am?
Well you can't flash it with fastboot without bootloader unlocked. You could try to get to edl mode. And then you can it with miflash. But U need authorized account for this. I don't have one but there are some guys that offers help for some payment. But be careful cause they want money first. You will all the necessary files to be download like firmware, miflash... Team viewer installed. He will log on his authorized account and flash it. I've seen a method without 3rd person help. But it requires some payment as well. Just search for flash without authorized account. To get to edl you will have take the back cover off. There are 2 pins to shortcl circuit. You will find the instructions on internet. And I don't know if this will help in your case of course. Maybe motherboard is broken.
I remember that I left it for a long time. Then I was able to hard reset it (may be?). Thank you for response.

UNBRICK Redmi Note 8 Pro (Begonia) No Recovery, No fastboot just LED.

Earlier this year i bricked a RN8P brought in by a customer to convert to global rom. After applying and waiting to unlock bootloader for 168 hours, it was successful then installing the global rom the device disconnected went into a total black screen no recovery, no fastboot just a white led when connected. after so many researches this forum and google there was nothing to write home about. i was frustrated and sad the only solution was to get someone with and authorization account which was $30 and couldn't afford. Customer was on my neck and was already talking of paying for the device then lo and behold today i was reading through some post on unbrick and i bumped into a solution i thought wasnt worth it as i have tried it buh never paid attention too. its a post by @white_3n on https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-8-pro/how-to/guide-unbrick-stuck-da-mode-authorised-t4000433/page5. here is it in details:

Hello Mdutsu,
Are you saying that removing the battery and putting it back gave you access back to fastboot (power + volume-) ?
I'm in your situation, without access to fastboot and only EDL falshing seems to be an option, but I have to pay someone with an authorized account...
I'd like to confirm that as you void warranty by removing the back cover.
