call recording - Oppo Realme 3 Questions & Answers

Hi Folks, I want to buy realme 3 for my father, I want to know how is this phone? He needs call recoding so does it have a call recorder by default or a 3rd party app would be required for recording a call?

is this forum dead or nobody using this phone?

I use this phone for about a month now, and it's a great phone.
Yes, it has a call recorder by default.
For the battery it's really great..
It holds up the whole day. about 11 hours if u using social apps, calls, and 3 hours of videos i guess..
The performance is really great for all apps and games but not great at the havey games like pubg, but it's just good u know..
The camera is great only in the morning or in a good light resource, in the night it has alot of noise.., but it's ok in a good light resource..
That's my experience with this phone.

EU version DOES NOT support all recording out of the box, chinese does.

[Q] Alternative Video Call app

Hi, my girlfriend use an iphone 4 and well obviously I use SGS2.
is there a video call app other than skype? we've tried fring and qik, but really bad video quality.
so is there an app that will work for android + iphone 4?
i've tried the modded skype by pulser and the other dev(sorry i forgot), it has the video call feature but when use the video option, my gf accept the call but skype made it voice call, hence fail to video call~~
skype from phone should be able to make calls to desktop pc and iphone 4's skype right?
Try Tango...

To be honest, the video calling feature on android sucks. On iphone face time calling is clear and reliable, were as on android you have to resort to 3rd party apps, which pretty much suck. So you can't expect cross platform calling to work properly when android to android pretty much sucks. Av tried nearly all the available video calling apps, and none impressed me in comparison to face time calling.

Whatever works best for you!

well it says in their site coming soon for SGS2? found in browser's market but incompatible with device.
looks promising though.
I've used Skype from my phone to my friend's iPhone and the video quality was brilliant. Just make sure you're on WiFi. Don't forget, this is a requirement for facetime on iPhone, so that's the only way to compare quality.

thanks for the link but i have them already.
speaking of skype, i have problems video calling to iphone 4. calling to desktop computer has no problem though. when i called ip4, it connects to video for moment(but just black with the video buttons) then immediately changed to voice call and it will be changing forth or so until i end it. any clue?
Just tested with v5 and iPhone4 and iPod4 sgs2. One autoswitch to audio only in 20 test calls on wifi. Also limiting resolution in advanced options might help. I left it on auto.
One note. If your GF on iPhone has app off in suspend and not in app then after she accepts call she has to enable video manually by selecting camera icon and choosing which camera she wants to use.

Perfectly smooth video on Tango for me too.
Tested and works on:

[Q] 2-Way Call Recording?

Has anyone tried either of these app to see if call recording is supported out of the box won't out any kernel mods?
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.skvalex.callrecorder&hl=en
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.dsoft.android.callrecorder
Looks like call supporting is listed.
For Qualcom chips looks like kernel support is needed

Nice plant!
Call Recorder - Total Recall by Killer Mobile is pretty good.
Extensive UI, and good customer support.
It's in the MP, with a free trial period I believe.
Recordings both sides as clear as a bell.
No kernel mods needed. There is also a Quick Set Up for the SE4GT.
Have never tried the 2 apps in your links though.
TotalRecall
I use TotalRecall and it is awesome.
No bugs.
Ok I tried both in my OP and both work. Thanks guys
I use RecordMyCall

Any good voice recording apps for recording lectures?

I recently switched to an AOSP rom and found that the samsung voice recording app sounds very good. I'm not sure, but i'm guessing it utilizes both mics. The first app from the market i tried, smart voice recorder, sounded horrible. I couldn't hear the lecture at all. Does anyone know of an app that utilizes both the mics or sounds as good as the touchwiz app?
for general recording I use recforge...i bought pro, you can swap formats, decrease gain It can successfully record vocals during band practice with a loud guitar, so i can find harmonies after if I'm struggling or if a new soong. I highly recommend this app for recording. There are also convert tools and other options
as for lectures, I use lecture notes pro version with lecture note recordings. The recording is not as nice, but good enough and when listening to a play back, i can search, then press a place on my handwritten notes and it will automatically synch the play back to the time when i wrote the notes. I use it with a stylus and it take what i wrote in the window at the bottom and places it on a line in the "paper", it does multi pages, has so many options for tweaking size, font, and way more than I can list here. There is a trial version however the recording add on is purchase only. the lecture notes printed out really nice from phone and tablet or i can share them to google drive, evernote etc. I tried 7 notes and like lecture notes much better with regard to fluency when in a lecture.
and if just a recorder I would go with recforge...HTH!

Def will...there is a free version i believe where options are limited within app for formats mono vs stereo etc but you can check out quality for yourself its my go to recording app for sure...hope you like it or find what you need
Tape-a-Talk Pro. Its unbeatable. It sounds excellent from 30 ft and works fantastic on all of my devices, even my tab that has a pretty bad mic.

Never tried that one but will certainly check it out...what kind of options come with that? Do they have a free or trial app?

Pixelated/Jagged Video Issue with Redmi Note 5 Pro (Facebook, Instagram, Twitch)

Hi I just got my Redmi Note 5 Pro, everything works fine but one thing that I'm really frustrated with is when I'm watching videos (not photos) on native apps like Facebook, Instagram or Twitch, the video is super pixelated and horrendous even at highest quality chosen. However, when I try to visit these sites on browser (Chrome) and watch the video, everything works fine, the quality is perfect. Here is some sample screenshots that I've taken: https://imgur.com/a/BwyBL3z (notice the pixelated and border of the text, it's actually horrible)
And here is my phone specs (About phone): https://imgur.com/a/vhg2OY1
Is anyone else experiencing this? Is this because of MIUI 10 or some problems with my phone?
More information: Youtube and Twitter in-app video seems to work fine, at least visually to my eyes. By the way, please don't tell me it's the internet issue because my internet is great and everything loads at highest quality option. Thanks for reading.

I think its a software issue and it sucks, try uploading something in Instagram (instagram stories) and experience the 3 fps video and the worst quality ever, I dont know why this happens, but I'm thinking of selling my xiaomi redmi note 5 pro, for these tiny but very important problems for me.

For the Instagram:
It is software issue, but not hardware-software problem, its more like software-rom problem, because i used to experience that too, atleast for the Instagram. But..... it was when i use MIUI 10, right after i tried custom rom, (i use PE) the problem is gone, and Instagram is capable to upload at the highest quality too (2k @ 60fps). So the conclusion is that, instagram not fully optimized for MIUI yet, because it has a lot of bugs in it. by the way, if you really wanted to fix that ig problem and dont want to change rom, i can suggest you to try GBinsta (look it up at google search you can find one), i dont know why, using the modded apk seems to work better at MIUI. So good luck, have a nice day :good:

Thanks for the advice. I tried Instagram version 51 and the upload quality is superb, and it sucks that such a great spec'd phone has so tiny annoying problems I even sent bug reports to Xiaomi via e-mail and didn't get a single reply, before this phone I had a Samsung Galaxy Note 8, and the camera in snapchat was HORRIBLE to say the least. I think android in general has these problems, because when I use my friends iPhone 6S Plus, the picture quality or video quality in every app is superb, and video quality in apps like IG or Facebook is superb too. Literally thinking about switching to iPhone even though I love the freedom of android.
Thanks for your reply.
slightly off topic but i've noticed photos i share in facebook messenger look very jagged , especially screenshots .

I have this problem across multiple apps in all Pie roms

Mi 9 SE audio recording for extreme loud environments

I went to an electronic party last weekend so I could finally test the audio recording quality on extreme situations.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nzfXQqgGZ1M
Turns out its really awful. Even my friend with a Motorola G5 have better audio quality. That is pretty disappointing for me, as I'm also a DJ and music producer so I make videos under this circunstances a lot. Also it impacts song-finder apps, as the quality is so bad that the app can't recognise the song.
Is there anything that can be done via software? Custom ROM or tweaks... Or is it a matter of the microphone (hardware) quality itself?
Btw I've already tried recording with the Open Camera App selecting the "unprocessed" audio source. Gets distorted same way.
Thanks in advance.
I confirm the existence of a similar problem for me and several people. How can this be fixed at least temporarily?
Thanks in advance.

Can't really call it a "problem" since it affects all Xiaomi phones. It's just a standard quality microphone paired with bad software otimization. I did some tests and the microphone is actually capable of capturing audio with less distortion under these conditions, the problem is the processing applied to the audio isn't optimized for these situations, making it distort.
Did you have the same issues using other kernels or roms? I confirm I've been getting similar issues also

Yea I tried every rom and kernel... all the same.
If it was only at shows... could live with it. But the audio distorts even at daily things like recording messages on whatsapp when inside a vehicle (I reported this on another thread). I get really frustrated.
Same here..I participate at the lot of Trance events and simply, audio is one big bulshitt. (like at 99% of Android phones). For loud events recordings, iPhones are still the best

Exactly... I always had android, then I swiched to an iphone 6s only because of the audio I knew was good... now I finally came back to android (cause I love the OS and its variety of functions compared to iOS) and unfortunately suffering again with poor audio recording. The few android I know can handle this are the top-end Samsung (S8, S9, S10). I heard about HTC also but never got to see or test it personally.
Altough I really can't understand why manufacturers don't take this audio thing more seriously, they leave this aside like no one cared about audio quality lol

Damn, I thought I was the only with this kind of concern and this is the reason I'm currently using an iPhone 6s as my second phone just for audio recording. In my case I like to listen and play metal music with my band in a rehearsal room, so I always used my phone to record my rehearsals to see my band's progress and some other things and the best phone with a good recorder was the Mi 8 Lite until someone robbed me.
Idk why Xiaomi don't take a look to this issue, I mean, I'm not saying they have to listen to heavy metal or something like that, just realize the many scenarios the people would use the recorder app or the camera, e.g. in concerts.

Most android manufacturers lose users to Apple just because of details like this, they don't realize how important this might be for some users. I mean, take for example artists on the music world... these are influent people... and 99% of them use iPhones because of things like the audio quality.
Anyway... this conversation can go really far.
Talking about the Mi 9 SE... mostly the cause of the the bad audio quality is bad software optimization. Xiaomi could get this a lot better with just some simple updates. I've tried modifying some microphone options, turns out it can actually record with less distortion (not really perfect but better). Still a bit of the guilt is on the microphone hardware itself... its kinda cheap.
try cameramx app, set audio source to external. it worked quite well at a muse concert.
the issue is the recording volume too high which affects also whatsapp vocal messages.
somebody solved it on rooted devices by installing root volume mixer pro, set the microphone gain to -3. this wasn't tested at loud events, only on whatsapp.

I've tried using Open Camera with audio source set to unprocessed. Didn't solve it for me, got a bit less distortion but still a lot (maybe bacause the sound was really extremely loud). Will try with "external" source.
I was trying to modify the mic gain directly on the system files, but I'm gonna try that volume mixer pro thing also. Ty.

Did it make it any better?
I have the Xiaomi Mi 9 SE , i love the phone, but yes the recording quality is terrible. i downloaded the Root volume control, but when im in the path files, i dont know what changes to make.....
What is the recording mic on the camera called in the files??.......what values am i looking for??......
How many changes to i need to make.......??
I don't know ir the problem is because harware or software, but this problem doesn't happen in all Xiaomi phones, because models like Mi 9T (Pro version also) or Mi 8 records the audio clearly, also, remember that an user said that the Mi 8 Lite has a good quality of audio recording (I don't know if the NORMAL Mi 9 (not SE) records well the audio). Probably the problem is from the hardware, because phones like a big part of Redmi or other Android has a low quality mic, so the sound recorded will be poor, this problem also happens with other companies like OnePlus.
But if we want to talk in a general way, all the cellphones, including those made from Apple, ASUS, HTC or Samsung are going to lose quality in the record of concerts, very few phones like some LG are good recording specifically the audio from concerts.
I fixed a bit this problem just putting a finger up the microphone. At least it didnt clip af
Try another camera app like Cinema-FV5. I heard it improves.
Had this problem with every xiaomi I owned, only Mi 8 Lite didn't have it, so strange :\
hi, i had this problem on Redmi 3, on MI 9 SE its better, but still present. I installed CameraMX and set microphone to external and i think it helps a lot !
