pixel xl wont turn on - Google Pixel XL Questions & Answers

So after doing some searching I could not find an answer.
A few weeks ago my Pixel XL shutoff as the battery was low. I plugged it in for the night and didnt look at it agin untill the morning. After being charged all night the phone would not respond. No load screen, no vibration (might have one time), nothing.
Holding down the power and volume down buttons does nothing with the screen but does cycle the phone being seen by the computer when connected via usb.
Phone had updated to Android 10, testing has shown battery is good and accepts a charge, and another screen was tried but still no change.
What are my options?

I know this old but for some reason the 128gb models seem to be corrupting the internal storage and making essentially useless without very specific files that Google doesn't provide.

My OG Pixel XL randomly died in the middle of the day, >50% battery left. Wouldn't turn on. What I did was hold the power button for a reeeeeeeeally long time -- it felt like it was close to a full minute. And it booted up like normal...so maybe give that a try.

24 hours after software update, my HTC One X won't switch on or charge.

My HOX updated on friday morning, and now, saturday morning it's dead. Won't turn on, is connected to the charger, but it's not showing the charging light. Is it knackered?
What's going on?
I beleive it was updated to 1.29.401.7
Not sure if it's going to help and I no it sounds obvious but, with it plugged in the charger, try holding down the power button for 10-15 secs. Also, try this without it in the charger.
it happens sometimes also on older HTC's. wait until it will turn on. most of the times it will turn on.
if not, try holding power + 2 volume keys all together. maybe it will turn on.

I have exactly the same issue, I've tried holding the power button for 15 sec and also while holding down each and both of the volume keys. Nothing seems to work.
I had a similar problem few days ago , just put the charger in and wait for ~10 min then it should turn on ( at least that's how i got it to work )
Just got home and it's charged for 24 hours now. No lights, nothing. Tried all the above.
Meh.
Happened to me also but when running bricked kernel.
If your not running the stock kernel you need to put the phone on the charger and just wait untill the red led starts to blink ( it can take 5mins for this to happen )
Then allow it to blink for a few mins then power on as normal and remove the charger.
It will boot and moan it has no charge so plug the charger back in once its booted fully, then leave it to charge.
once at 100% reboot and bam your back up and running as normal.
I scored a brand new one x from a friend who had upgraded their contract but didn't want the phone. Awesome I thought.....
Plugged it in to charge, charge light came on, battery indicator showed it was charging but after 24hrs on the charger it only went to 16% battery. The next day tried again and the same result. would only charge to about 15% battery after 6hrs on the charger (this was what it was at when I plugged it in to begin with)
End result is a brand new phone that had never been used will not charge straight out of the box. Has been sent in to be repaired but not too sure if that is what should happen when clearly it was DOA. I'd much prefer it was replaced but will see what happens when I eventually get it back.
Does anyone know of a solution or others that have had this problem??
I had this problem the other day, the battery died before i went to bed, so i plugged it in over night and nothing happened, thought it was the charger, tried a different htc charger and nothing again. So i plugged it into my computer and a few minutes later the light started to flash. I let it flash for a few minutes and unplugged it from the computer and plugged it into a charger and turned it on and it charged up.
Long story short, plug it into your computer for a while then turn it on and charge it normally.

That doesn't work for me, I've tried all of the above and nothing works.
Mine came back to life after 24 hours on the charger, and then I did the soft reset described in the posts above.
In the meantime I just received this from HTC. Might be handy for some people.
Dear Richard Baldwin,
Thank you for contacting HTC regarding your HTC One X.
My name is Jonathan and I am a Technical Support Agent for the HTC Written Team.
I’m sorry to hear that you are experiencing difficulties with the device not being able to turn on.
In order to resolve this I would advise that you long press the power key. Please hold the power button for approximately 30 seconds. This has the effect of a soft reset, which would normally be to remove the battery from the device, and will resolve minor software issues.
If that does not work I would recommend that you try to perform a factory reset via the hardware. Before you start the hard reset process you need to be aware that all of your personal data will be wiped from the phone. (Except for data stored on the SD Card or online services.) If you need assistance on how to back up your data please let me know.
To restore the phone to factory settings:
1. With the phone turned off, long press the VOLUME DOWN button, and then briefly press the POWER button.
2. Wait for the screen with the 3 Android images to appear, and then release the VOLUME DOWN button.
3. Press VOLUME DOWN to select FACTORY RESET, and then press POWER.
4. When asked to confirm, press VOLUME UP.
If the factory reset does not resolve the issue I would recommend that you return the device to the retailer, for an exchange.

Mine didn't come back to life, I've had to send it back to HTC for repair.
Mine crapped out today. It won't start, it won't charge. I'll send it in for repairs, but I hope there won't be problems because of the bootloader unlock... The replacement will have to do without root
Hi guys,
Just an idea. I had this issue with mine on the old recovery. Usb charge from pc for 30 mins let me boot then i could charge from mains. it was an issue with the initial recovery that ment it couldnt be charged while off. Just an idea...........
Phone came back from HTC. They had to replace the mainboard and the battery. WTF happened after the unlock/root? Could it have been a coincidence?
Anyway, I'm staying with the stock software and I'm waiting for my tablet for all the weird mods I wanted

Galaxy S II Won't Turn On or Charge!!!

BACKGROUND:
At first, it just started turning off for no reason (probably a month and a half ago).
Then this week, it would start to randomly turn off, and start vibrating constantly when charging. After fiddling with the buttons, it would eventually find itself into download mode and then later turn itself on.
NOW:
Monday morning, after several days of draining the battery to 0% (due to me solely charging it for an hour a day), the phone went dead. Then, that night, upon trying to charge it and turn it on, it remained stuck on a black screen. After taking out the battery, it would continuously beep while still connected to the charger. As soon as I put in the battery, it would become COMPLETELY unresponsive, with and without the charger. After fiddling with it for over an hour, I put it down and slept, leaving the battery and charge in the phone.
Tuesday morning, I clicked the power button, and the phone flashed to the lock screen. It displayed it was at 0% battery, but I think it showed a charging sign. I used the phone for almost 2 minutes, checking my texts, before it again went completely black. The phone became completely unresponsive (no beeping or anything, regardless of anything I did). I connected it to a wall charger again, and left it there for the entire afternoon.
Then when I picked it up at around 6 o clock, I discovered that the continuous beeping stopped, and it would only beep after holding the power button for around 5 seconds. It could beep regardless of whether the battery was out or not.
After charging it all that night, I found I could make it flash the Samsung logo for a fraction of a second after holding down both volume buttons and the power button. I looked it up, and supposedly it brings you to recovery mode, but I believe my phone is switching off immediately after bringing up the logo.
At around 12, Tuesday night, I again decided to hold down the power button (just to reassure myself of it still somewhat functioning), and it powered on for around ten seconds (!!!) . It got all the way to the end of the pink loading bar screen, but then beeped and restarted. The second time, it lasted only around three seconds, without even getting to the loading bar screen, before powering off. It became completely unresponsive afterwards, no beeping, regardless of where it was charging and whether the battery was in or not.
Wednesday morning (today), after having left it charge all night, the phone still was completely unresponsive. I then left it to charge the entire afternoon (until now), and it was still completely unresponsive. I took it apart and played around with the power button, but it didn't seem to be stuck. I've now put it back together and leaving it connected to the wall charger once again.
What I've Tried:
Tried connecting it to Kies (computer doesn't even recognize it)
Tried putting into Recovery Mode (unresponsive)
Tried putting into Download Mode (unresponsive)
Switched chargers (unresponsive)
Held power button (beeps, now doesn't do anything)
Held both volume buttons and power button (beeps then quickly flashes samsung logo)
Cleaned off some of the micro usb lint with a tooth pick (coincided with the stopping of continuous beeping, not sure if it caused it)
What I think it could be:
Faulty power button (this is what I thought it was, but now it's not vibrating)
Faulty battery (I kept draining to 0%, but if this is the problem, it doesn't explain the phone not displaying anything when it's connected to a charger w/o battery inside)
Faulty usb charging port (I've heard it sometimes causes vibration problems. wouldnt explain the restarting).
Fried motherboard (phone has had some water damage, but I'm not sure if it's the MOBO, considering its symptoms)
HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.
Not Alone
hey, this isnt really an answer, but maybe something to bump this up. Mine went last night.... won't boot, won't charge... goes into download mode but no matter how many times i switch cables, install Samsung drivers, install Keis, or anything imaginable- i cannot get it to communicate with my PC. if i could i would be able to fix this problem.
i really hope that someone will take a look at these issues and give some input. my call to Samsung was useless, i wasted hours with redundancy. I bought the phone used off Ebay in mint condition... have taken it apart and cleaned it with no avail. i fear that soon the battery will be dead and there's no way to charge it. sucks. Samsung really should recall/replace this because so many people have similar issues. whether it's the USB Flex or the battery or the motherboard they should be responsible. looks like ill be getting a nexus 4 afterall.
please let me know if you figure anything out.

It may be your battery, u need to remember why they tell u not to run the phone that way, the batteries our phones run need to maintain a certain charge in order to work correctly, if like u said u only charged it an hr or so a fah for over a week and drained completely more than once u may have rendered ur battery unable to hold a charge, in effect not allowing the phone to run its boot process, I would try a new battery, because beyond that the only other logical explanation is a hardware failure, stuck power button wouldn't render the device unresponsive only when the battery was put in like that, it would bootloop, have u ever just held ur power button in? The phone vib an shuts down a. Vib again n shut down, not become unresponsive, I would try a new battery, and if it works, respect the charge lol

I would agree, seems to be the battery. I bought 2 batteries and a 110V charger on eBay for $30. They don't have the NFC antenna in them but I've never missed it. Not only that but charging that way saves the wear and tear on the USB port.

need help - M9 won't boot at all after a power down. Black screen of death.(Strange)

Need help /advice please
Im on M9 rooted,s-off, viperone 3.5 rom, supercid, firmware 2.10.401.xx and twrp 3.0.0.0. all fine beforehand.
I was planning to do firmware upgrade, so thought i better check the laptop connections first.( So I haven't done any firmware upgrade or rom change yet.) but..
heres what happened
(note - all was working fine last week, recovery, adb, reboot function were all ok.)
- Yesterday i connected my phone to laptop and my laptop suddenly was not detecting the phone (!). strange. it worked last week. (but the laptop was still able to charge the phone then). Tried different cables same thing. strange.
-so i thought its been ages since a power down. probably needs a proper shutdown and then clean reboot right?
-i shutdown the device using the power button. (I might have accidentally pressed the power button too long and forced a shut down - cant recall )
-but the device shutdown like normal and then just would not reboot. nothing. no charge light even when connected to charger now.
-I tried hard reset press all three (vol and power) buttons for 30seconds (up to 1minute) - nothing. phone still "black screen of death". wont boot. (tried vol up+power or vol down + power all no boot no nothing.) Never happened before. No idea what happened. Any ideas?
Any advice much appreciated
Try holding all three buttons for a couple of minutes while it's plugged into the charger.
If that doesn't work, leave it plugged in overnight. HTC phones can have these weird power issues where the phone appears to die, then comes back to life the next day.

OK I will try that. My battery was 90% charged before it died. but will try your suggestion and get back to you. hopefully my M9 is not irrecoverable....
{edit}[Update]
When I plugged into charger the charge light does not go on.
but i tried hold all three buttons while in charger, the charge light did begin blinking on and off times, but no reboot.
(i tried that over 10 times, holding upto 3 or 4 mintues till my fingers turned white, sadly no reboot.)
So I left it plugged into charger overnight but same this morning.
Any idea what it could be? I was rooted, S-off and unlocked bootloader so my warranty is history anyway.
Appreciate any ideas/advice. tia.
Having power issues as well..starting to think this m9 is a piece of junk..3 of my USB chargers stopped working on my m9 (they worked before)..one charges on and off very slowly.
ya my M9 just died and still would not boot. So strange, because it was almost all was fine beforehand. it was just it suddenly could not link to my laptop. and after a power down just died.
So after hours and hours of holding all three buttons while charging, not able to boot for days, and leaving charged for nights and no boot...I gave up. Took my phone to HTC service. They said it might take a month and I have no warranty. not happy with this at all and very confused. My guess is it could be the Power IC or some capacitor that just died. No idea. Makes me begin question quality of the M9. I saw a few guys on youtube comments say same thing. Their M9 after shut down would'nt reboot. So its not just me at least.
I saw this same thing happen on the M7. Some weird power/battery gremlins. Annoying they haven't fixed it.
after 5 months of my phone in and out of different HTC services they could not fix my phone power issue and seems they gave up and
replaced with new phone.
so almost 5 months I had no M9. . the power issue really disappointed me.

My Mix2 won't turn on anymore (white led still blinking)

Hey everyone,
I purchased a Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 about a year ago from a chinese website. So far it has worked great. I purchased another phone not to long after and gave up on the Xiaomi, because 2 phones.
After moving to a new appartment, I found that beast in a box and tried to turn it on in order to give it to some family member. Nothing would appear on the screen!
When I plug it on a power source, the led at the bottom on the screen blink once per second. Tried all the possible combination of buttons (actually, only 3 buttons, volume up and down and power) but it won't budge. Any combination of buttons will make the phone led blink 6 times 1 second and then pause for 2 seconds , and redo it in loop.
I tried plugin it on a computer, nothing happens.
I searched Google (even went to page 2!) but most of the problems relate to flashing the ROM and bricking it that way.
I was hopping someone could relate or help me find a solution before throwing that magnifient piece of design forever
Thanks in advance guys
EDIT: I left it plugged on a power source from 2 different charger more than 12 hours each.
Maybe it is completely discharged. Leave it pluged in the wall charger for a while, then try to turn it on.
When you plug your phone into a wall outlet does anything come on the display even very briefly? When you plug the phone into a wall outlet normally a screen should display with the battery level before it goes black again. If your display just stays black you might have a hardware issue. If you hold down the power button and volume up at the same time that should boot your phone into recovery. If you have a software issue normally your phone will still boot into recovery.
Get a new battery. after one year he will probably be dead.
Even if the battery can't hold a charge I would think the display would light up when the phone is connected to a wall outlet. The Mix 2 also came out just 9 months ago. That seems too quick for a phone battery to completely die.
Could you try to press the power button for about 1 minute ?
That did the trick when my old Zuk Z1 got discharged too deeply...
Also try to charge it with a 1 amp charger if that hasn't been done yet.

Phone switched off overnight

I have recently purchased the A50 and love it. However, this morning I woke up late for work as my phone had switched off during its overnight charge. There was no way to turn it back on until at least 10 minutes after taking it off charge and frantically running to work. Once the phone was on, it had 100% battery.
Does anyone have any idea why this happened? Could it be an overheating issue?
This has never happened to any other phone I've owned.
I have been charging with the cable the A50 comes with but with the S7 plug. Could that be the culprit?
If that's the case I will just use the A50 plug itself.
I have looked everywhere for an answer. This only happened today and may never happen again but I would like to know other people's opinions.
Don't know why this happened, bug somewhere, software update, don't know, but do you really need to leave the phone on an overnight charge,
The treakle charge at 100% is known to cause heating issues, and I hear the a50 is not the most durable phone,.
Strange that it would just turn the phone off completely

To be honest, it could have been as simple as electric fluctuation. I have no idea.
I didn't charge last night as I as slightly reluctant to do so.
So far, the phone is working flawlessly and hasn't restarted or shut off on its own. I will eventually charge it once the power drops to almost 0.
Will update so as to let everyone know in case there are similar issues out there.

When it happened to me it was the second time I had charged over night, the first time was fine.
I haven't done it since and so far the phone has been fine.
During Update my phone A50, I just press Power button+Vol down button together. After that my phone was off and can not on till now. I tried to press vol up + power button together but it did not work. Can you please Help.
My Samsung A50 just went off by itself after power went off and has refused to come up. Truth is i have charged it several times using this same power and i can tell power is almost stable except that i am using a different charger head to charge for some time now. Wont sill come up, any help or suggestion?
We have several of these A50's and up to now we had 3 of them with this problem.
At the moment that it refuses to turn back on i noticed that the back of the phone is warm , between the top of the phone and the word SAMSUNG . The rest of the phone is cold.
I left the phone alone for about 4 hours without power cable plugged in , after those 4 hours i plugged it in and after a minute it started charging with a indicator of 0% .
You can also try a forced reboot ( hold volume up and down + power button for 5 sec )
Did anyone manage to solve this issue? My girlfriend's A50 has shut down twice overnight now, and the only way to turn it on is by pressing power and volume down for 10 seconds. She has the May update.
Same issue here, i reset my phone to factory settings then install all of my applications and since do that, the issue doesn't occurs any more till now (1 week)
Same here!
Same situation here!
It turned off during the night 3 times now!!
I was late to work The first time, now I have to activate the alarm on my wife's phone, because I don't trust this one anymore.
To turn it back on, you don't need to wait 4 hours, you just have to press power and volume down.
Samsung has to do something about this!

That doesn't sound like it's actually turning off. More like it gets stuck with screen off and you're making a forced reboot with the button combination.

Yeah that might actually be the case, and it's completely hung since alarms won't go off. Apparently it does not seem like an isolated case so I guess we'll see what the store says.
Same situation at my A50 to. No notifications,no reaction, no alarm, no reacttion after simple power button press, only black display. It get alive only with described buttons combination-power+vol up .
The problem occure only after night charging time, in the morning.
I was advised not to leave on charge overnight. I have just got this phone and was asking live chat about something else and she mentioned new smart phones did not require full overnight charges and unplug as soon as it’s finished charging.. also that fully discharging battery to 0% is not recommended either and should be charged around 20% to increase the life of the battery. I think I will try that advice. Always had Samsung phones and been happy with my S5 for many years..but it’s very outdated and decided on upgrade but can’t justify the price of S10 lol.
