Any updates or improvements in 3D scans? Anyone one using it to generate 3d models? - Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ Questions & Answers

The 3D scan capability of the N10+ is what intrigued me most about the phone. However, after release, most tests/examples of scans were disappointing. I read that the software was problematic and expected to be improved. Has this happened? Anyone actually using the phone to create exportable 3d files? If not, is improved 3d tech expected in the next version of the phone?

I tried it a bunch of times and could never get it to work. I mostly gave up since then though I did see that at least a couple of updates to the 3D scanner were released since then. I am yet to try this again.

I see so little about this feature. I really hoped there was more info.

I've tried it a few times, some of them recently. It still works like garbage. It was a really cool idea but the execution has been totally worthless. I think they found the greenest intern they could find and had them randomly copy/paste code from StackOverflow until a program aaaaaaaallllmost formed. Then the intern went back to college and the company janitor took over development. It's just so completely stupid to put a 3D ToF sensor on the phone then totally bork the software and just never fix it. I suppose I shouldn't expect any less from the idiots who built LinuxOnDex then just suddenly aborted development even though it was working perfectly fine. Samsung is the new Google. Never trust anything either of them start. They're 90% likely to never finish it and just discontinue it suddenly.

There is so much truth in this it's scary. Samsung Cloud was just going through my head as I was reading this. Launched, billed as the next best thing to happen to Android devices, then failed to roll out with any sort of desktop support, followed by failure to support buying more storage in almost all regions followed by scrapping of the whole thing and some quasi-partnership with Microsoft to use OneDrive. I can think of a bunch more features like this that Samsung devised and that never took off. The fact that the ToF sensor is not being utilized for better photography is also baffling to me. Samsung's default implementation of DoF is absolutely horrible.

A couple of days ago there was a new update. This doesn't make it suddenly scan things properly. I tried several things, mostly stuffed animals / dog toys as those are about the right size and don't move. Still works like crap. It does an OK job sometimes but the 3D sensor is very picky. I tried to scan a very large mug that is plastic and some of the pieces were too shiny and hardly showed up. I tried to scan a rubber dog toy and it kind of worked but the process was irritating. I tried to scan a large stuffed animal chicken. It's probably 3 feet tall, plush, and covered in fake fur (why would a chicken be furry? The world may never know). This worked OK, the model is decent. But, it was tough to keep my phone at the proper distance as I moved around it. That's mostly my problem but the app is super brittle. If you move too abruptly or you accidentally point your camera too far away it just immediately aborts. I've got programs for the PC that use a Kinect sensor from the XBOX to do scanning and those work similarly but generally tell you if you're getting off course and allow you to try to move back into position rather than just suddenly aborting the scan.
Forget trying to scan your pets. Animals move far too much. Probably forget trying to scan a person. It's hard for a person to sit perfectly still for long enough and this software isn't very forgiving. Though, scanning either pets or people does allow for some bazaar lovecraftian horrors to emerge. If you want to transform your pet into the Thing then this is the way to do it.
I think the problem is that they've got too large a mission. The app supports all kinds of dumb stuff like animating your 3D model after you capture it, etc. They really needed to focus on actually being able to capture models reliably before implementing all the cutesy garbage on top of it. The sad thing is that, for all the crap I give them about how bad it is, it's actually almost there. It's just right on the cusp of working. I can capture models of stuff. They're just very difficult to get working and when I do I see some aberrations that shouldn't be there. It's close to working and if they'd just hunker down and fix the weirdness in capture it could be great in short order. But, it seems like development on this is very slow and too spread out across all the other needless stuff it can do. It needs to scan stuff reliably and then they can work on the other gee-whiz features.
For your viewing pleasure, I've attached the best model I've gotten captured so far - the fuzzy chicken. It's large, it's in charge, it worked pretty well. Behold, the best the 3D Scanner on a Note 10+ can do. I attached both the model output from the 3d Scanner app and a picture of the base model (with no texturing) from Blender so you can see the smoothness and detail of the model without the texture obscuring it. I suppose it's fairly decent but I wouldn't directly use it to 3D print something.

How did you manage to put it in blender?

I played with it but more a curiosity than a useful tool. It really ate cpu cycles/current like crazy though. I guess if I needed a hand warmer I might use it again

may i know how do you scan a 3d model? been finding the app for some time already but cant find it

Search for "3D Scanner" in the Galaxy Store (not Google Play Store) and download the app.

Respectfully request a thread for Pantech Duo

Greetings,
You guys have been wonderful in getting to know my good ol' phone, my Wizard 8125 (which is now suffering from serious "seizures"-as in power off and on constantly). Now I have this Duo and frankly, even though it has many features that I wanted in a smartphone, the BASICS-can't hear people they sound muffled!!!
Now I ask that since some of your software should work on the Duo that you bring together all the people that are suffering from this and many other Duo issues. I will post here what I posted on Howard forums, my review on the Duo-got it last week and I am on the infamous 30-day trial from AT&T.
Don't underestimate this chick; I took apart and put together my Wizard four times; first two to give it a good cleanup b/c my daughter decided to dip it in OJ. The other two minor fixer-uppers and my phone worked fine for +2 yrs., till last month. I wanna learn more and more on software programming but have no formal education on either. I like to figure out stuff on my own.
So before I decide to keep it and tear it apart or return this phone for something better, I will be reading along the boards what in the world I can do to get this thing to work to my advantage.
Cheerio, Chica
My post from Howard's Forum Pt. 1
My review - I got it last week
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi, first post here...
Got the Duo after still mourning the 8125 that is booting off and on constantly. And it was about time I renewed anyways. Here are my thoughts, still not 100% sure that I am gonna keep this one (because of what I am gonna write below I am gonna try switch it for another Duo.
PROS:
1- Got the Duo for the dual-slider. Hard to dial when in a car and I don't use my Bluetooth often. Busy mom, it is hard.
2-LOVE how clear and crisp the screen is. Bright, vivid and good enough space.
3-I know there are some users and abusers out there but I do my best to keep it in "Lock" and inside my case. The less I deal with dirt, lint, scratches the better. I will buy a screen protector though.
4-Took me a couple of days of breaking the touch-screen habit; it's like going from automatic transmission to manual. It was not easy but not as complicated as I thought it was gonna be.
5-I like the speakerphone, simply turn the phone over and adjust the volume and I can hear fine.
6-Looking forward to really modify the phone to my liking, get into as many mobile forums as i can and customize it to my lifestyle. With that said...
CONS
1-WHAT IS WITH THE MUFFLED SOUND? I read this thread SHOCKED that no one mentioned it here...perhaps in another thread. Multiple forums users complain about the same problem. Stayed last night till almost 1am doing research and getting ready to alter the unit and lookup some software to fix this issue like a patch or something; well at pantechusa.com they have a radio patch (it will wipe out whatever the phone had and bring it up to default). I hoped really that the patch would work but it didn't. I knew that by having the same version of the software on my Duo it was a 75/25 chance that it was not gonna work and unfortunately I was right.
2-JUNKWARE - The Duo has lots of them and they are really useless and take up a lot of your memory if: a-you don't have a PDA plan, and b-you don't care for them. First things first, 95% of those need the plan in order for them to function and get the most out of the Duo. Since I don't have the PDA plan ($30/mo) then these have GOT to GO.
3-Cannot adjust/distribute memory on the unit - I can stop working programs fine, but there is an area where you can see both "drives" where it stores memory. I can't go in and just click and manage it further. It is frustrating because it would make the Duo faster.
4-I suffer from the Curse Of The Worst Ringtones. Whenever I get a cell the ringtones SUCK. Which makes you wonder who this Duo was designed for, or going for which type of person.
5-MicroSD card-I got a 4 Gig SDHC and forget it, it does not work. You can see the icon top bar that it has the micro card inserted, can't see it the rest of the Duo. Big disadvantage because: Micros are evolving to SDHC and have way more room; a Duo just can't be lagging behind with technology and get stuck with a regular Micro 2 Gig card (?!?!?!). Because there is wonderful people out there that can do lots of programming and hacking, I found the solution at xda-developers from reading in this forum. Thankfully the xda people have helped me with software for my Wizard and it seems I will use their software this time around too.
6-NO WI-FI, NOT FAIR! I have wireless at home and I used to go online, Media Player, and look online for my fav radio station (from another country), listen live and with headsets, go about my business. Can't do that with this unit.
7-Battery Life-This has been brought up multiple times and yes, the first couple of days it felt I was dealing with my HP camera which sucks batteries dead in one day. Now I can deal with charging it either daily or every other day. With the 8125 because of the type of battery you HAD to charge it daily or the cellphone would pay the consequences. On this one the Pantech people say let it drain then charge it; I am not comfortable with that scenario and I hope I don't ruin the battery because I charge it halfway or down to one bar.
To me the worst are in "bold", and I expect the Pantech people to come around and fix the muffled sound-which is worse if you talk with someone from cell-to-cell. Will take the unit today to AT&T and see if by getting another Duo the problem is fixed.
Interestingly though, I am willing to give the Duo a pass if I can program it, hack it, alter it every which way I want so I can have some fun with it!
Part 2-my post on HowardForums
Forgot to add to the cons...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
On CONS, I forgot to add that in order to delete multiple files, I cannot select them with SHIFT-(Select) UP or DOWN. Do I have to delete each item one by one and not by multiple selection?
Does anybody know a way around that? thanks!
Went to AT&T today to figure out swapping the Duo...
...and I can do it only once. If I decide to try and have another Duo and the sound on that phone is just as bad as this one, I am stuck with it. If I switch for another unit, of course there is the restocking fee; now if I decide to go for a Tilt or a BlackJack II for example, I assume I'd have to pay extra for price difference.
FYI...Chica
This site is based on htc devices..... you probably have to look for other websites..... there is new new one not much up yet but here is the link.....

im gonna research this and create a forum for it at winmodevelopers.
youll have to be patient tho ive only got 8 users
i mean dont expect a reply straight away, but hopefully all pantech duo owners will see i can accomodate them.
thanks for the reference joel
Pantech Duo
Thanks!
I still have it, I am gonna tweak it and see if upgrading it and add/remove software it will perform better. Still have to keep the Bluetooth close, just in case a long phone call comes in.
Phone is like an ol' pair of jeans you don't wanna part with...

Do not buy "The Moron Test" until it is refined.

Ok, it's seldom that I speak ill of absolutely anything on WP7 but this game has just been disgusting. I've already complained to the creators of the game and have yet to hear a reply (perfectly reasonable given the time frame) but right now it isn't even worth 99 cents. Of all the poor iphone ports it is likely the worst. The first level runs smooth enough, just like the iphone version actually. However once you get into the later levels (3 and 4) lag is imminent and this has been tested on 5 different WP7 devices all with the same result. The buttons become non-responsive or you have to wait about 8 seconds after a button push for it to register. (This happens in the latter parts of the late levels) The "shaking" part is just disgusting, I have to shake all of my phones aside from my focus so hard that I feel like they're going to fly out of my hand before it registers as shaking and by then you're being so violent with it that you will likely shake one too many times and have to continue from your last checkpoint. I beat this game on android and iphone with ease but the WP7 version is a terrible port... Do not buy unless it is updated.
Issues with our app
We are looking into this problem as soon as possible. This is the first time we hear about this, and we have not seen this behavior on our own test devices. If you don't mind, can you resend your email? We would like to work with you to find the problem.

Certainly. my email is [email protected] The game is good, I played it numerous times on other systems but I have every US released WP7 device and it's occurring on all of them. It really seems that the shaking parts of the game cause the initial lag and then from there there is a snowball effect. I am happy to buy the game but in its present state it does need some polish.

Finally got my White Lumia!!

Couple questions. It seems like it scrolls/swipe way slower than my focus did, is there anyway to speed it up? Also has anyone had a bunch of scratches on there little carl zeiss lens? I heard it can scratched quickly and I am worried about that.
Other than that any tips anyone has?
I got the stick on protector for mine. As far as the scrolling goes, I don't notice any difference between the Lumia and my Focus. Maybe it's a mental trick due to the larger size?
Some people have mentioned that scrolling got much faster after applying the latest patch to 8112 (on AT&T) and 8107 (on Rogers).
What O/S is your Lumia on?
I applied the latest patch and it did seem like the phones scrolling was more responsive. I think what you may be feeling is that the scrolling isn't accelerated when you keep scrolling.
The chrome trim on the back will scratch, I cut out an old iPhone screen shield and applied it.
Im not sure if it is my imagination or the screensize but the swipe doesnt seem to move as fast at all.
So far I'm very pleased with it, especially since we have LTE down here.
And I already am on 8112 so maybe its just my perception so far. We shall see I suppose.
Also an interesting fact for everyone: while I was at the store one of the associates was taking a Windows Phone test. Seems like they all have to take it and pass so they can properly tell people about the system. The question she was on was if you can sync your iTunes library with Zune haha. Guess they're expecting/hoping for some converts. Then after me spouting off some knowledge about phones or how to get your iTunes library over she asked me if I wanted a job.
160 Million dollars for advertising seems to have trickled through ATT haha
Nokia slows down the scrolling.

Question Worst FPR ever put on a phone

Ok this is beyond a joke now. Why in the hell would these morons remove face unlock only to add the absolute worst fingerprint reader I've ever dealt with on any phone I've ever owned. I never thought I'd consider going back to pin unlock considering that even the door to my house has a fingerprint reader. What are your thoughts on it?
Removing face unlock is very uncomfortable

Sometimes I still pick up my phone and stare at it like a complete idiot for a few seconds before I remember that it doesn't have face unlock
Well people wanted it for when wearing a mask but this FPS is a disgrace. It was quicker lowering my mask and using face unlock then this trash FPS. I'm sure it will improve in time but I'm also considering going to just a pin.
I really don't understand this company. They add and remove **** on every phone they release. Soli in then gone, squeeze in then gone, face ID in then gone. It's ridiculous. But hey...we have a curved screen lol.
It actually is the worst FPS ever! I just hope it's not a hardware issue and can be fixed by software
Try to just lay your finger on the scanner, ever so slightly, instead of pressing. Helped me.
I agree here, Faceunlock was beautiful. In an ideal world, we would have gotten Faceunlock AND fingerprint scanner (back).

Worst decision... Curved screen. It adds nothing valuable!! It throws shadows. It makes it hard getting a proper screen protection. Useless. Absolutely.
FPS is a good idea - if added additionally to face unlock. Sigh.
Mine seems to be getting worse. 2 full seconds to register seems to be the average if it actually works the first time. About half the time it takes 2 or more tries. I'm coming from a scanner on a 5 year old phone that just works. I told myself I just needed to get used to it, but the opposite seems to be happening. The longer I own the phone, the more I just assume stuff will work, so I'm less careful with the FPR, etc.
Mine's erratic with performance all over the place. Sometimes it fails, sometimes it takes 3s to work, sometimes the screen stays blank until I use the power button.

I agree with you entirely. I was strongly considering returning this POS and jumping ship to iPhone. I think instead I'll keep it and trade it in on an s22 or something. Not sure I can deal with iOS either.
If i didn't break my p4 xl...I would absolutely have returned this as this is an inferior phone in every single aspect other than the camera

When the rumors were flying around about this phone months back and it was mentioned that 6pro might have a curved screen.... I cringed.
I've got about 5 or so days left to return. I'm seriously considering it. First time ever with a pixel phone.. I can't believe they actually moved forward with this FPS. It couldn't have worked much better while they were testing it? I'm on the pixel superfan page on FB. Every post someone makes about the FPS Google declines to post it. Instead, they've put those of us that did in a different, hidden thread to talk about it. It's effing BS. They're hiding it instead of acknowledging it and saying they'll fix it.
I did find something that helps, sort of. I read an article about folks who have the animations set to .5 were seeing a bug where the fingerprint was gone from the AOD/lockscreen. Setting it back to default fixed it. I had the same problem, so I changed it back. The fingerprint unlock is a lot more successful now. Still total garbage, but better. Hopefully this helps.

Unsure if I will return my P6P. However, for my first in screen finger print reader, this can't be right.
The FPR is so fickle. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Agreed that if anyone spent any time with this phone, they would know to fix the FPR.
There are a few issues I hope Google can resolve soon: FPR, auto-brightness and antenna (if there is a software fix for antenna hanging on to weak 5G signals instead of moving to a stronger LTE when it is available).
yeah mine was returned yesterday back to ATT store for this same issue, used it one day and went back into the box most horrible FP I ever used, I had had to eat 55.00 restocking because of this crap oh well lesson learn!
Mine works just as good as any OnePlus phones I've had in the past few years
It's working very well for me but that's because my expectations aren't ultrasonic sensor ones. The accuracy has been very good but it's the speed that varies from pretty quick to 3/4 a second. Key thing is to press and hold until the haptics confirm or deny it. With that in mind I rarely get misses. Maybe a handful a day. Could it be better, sure, but it's not total trash.

Wow... You loose absolutely all credibility when you say the pixel 4 is "better in every aspect other than camera". That is just an idiotic comment. I understand you can't please everyone and there will always be a handful of people that'll complain, but come on... You are being absolutely ridiculous.
BTW, not understanding how y'all are having the negative experience. Been using fingerprint since day 1, and maybe had 1 or 2 times where I had to try a second time to unlock the phone. Only negative thing I can say is it does seem to be slightly slower than other fingerprint phones I've used before. I'm sure Google will address it or someone will modify the kernel source to improve the overall speed. It feels like people expect to be 100 percent satisfied in every aspect and if something only reaches 90 percent, their brains explode and the world is coming to an end!
If a slightly delayed (we're talking tenths of a second) fingerprint reader is such a deal breaker and calls for all this complaining, I can only imagine how y'all deal with everyday life. Just saying.

Same here - my FPS is working just fine, maybe just a bit slower than the one I had on my OnePlus 7T Pro, but still nothing to complain about...

Question Google sucks !!

So coming from a Pixel 3xl and then the Pixel xl and then before that the Nexus 6 and then before that every moto phone all the way down to the og droid. Where does Google get off sending out a phone to the public that doesn't work. I've had this piece of junk now for 2 weeks and it is garbage. 1st thing right out of the gates the fingerprint scanner doesn't work but may maybe 1 in 5 trys. Why would they move it to the front. Who decided that was better. Cause it isn't. The fingerprint scanner sensors whatever they are on my previous two pixels worked fine once in awhile they didn't work they just worked this one just doesn't work. It's the most basic form of the phone it's the first thing you do when you turn the phone on. It's the first thing you do when you pick up the phone and to open it with your finger you would think that they would at the very least have that part right. Then 5G I don't know about where you are I live in Southern California, Ventura county which is just North of Los Angeles county. In every instance that I've used 5G to have 5G on my phone and I'm trying to do something on internet it is slower than 3G it's like we've taken two steps back. I have to wonder if it's like this for everybody I mean all the phones all the manufacturers I got a feeling this 5G wasn't ready yet and they just pushed it out anyway cuz they had to have the next good best thing but then work though it doesn't work. Why would Google push out a phone that just didn't work I thought the whole point of the pixel experience was that everything just worked. It didn't have to have the best specs they didn't have to have the greatest screen or the most memory. But they worked well without all those specs and screens. They worked and worked well cause they were well put together on proven hardware. Then Google brought in their software unmolested. Completely vanilla and the phone's working they worked better than the other phones that had all those high specs and lots of memories high refresh rate screens. The original Pixel XL and the Pixel 3XL they worked ? I'm starting to think that that was in spite of Google. I've had my pixel 6 Pro since launch!! And yes I do agree with the finger print scanner. Had my share of disappoints with it but update after update it just get better... I'm on custom ROM my preference.. it's actually closer to stock with minimal tweaks added.. Also note I've had all the pixel including the nexus line and by far this is the best pixel I've used... And the 5 g problems none here I live in Canada Telus network.. everyone has their gripe!! Best thing just return it
TLDR
Bro... Samurai? You talking the Droidrzr forum that I WAS A PART OF? Dude...that was like 10 years ago...let it die...the thing is they were INNOVATIVE back then, they were creating new things that have never been tried before, and pumping out things that "could" work. We are now at the point where we just want a good screen, long lasting battery and a great camera. All of which the Pixel 6 Pro do NOT do
As the owner of the pixel 6 pro, from a LAUNCH DAY T-Mobile oneplus 6T, I am not going to lie. The 6T was faster after 3 years. I just couldn't stand the camera anymore. But my SERVICE on that phone was great. And the battery life I would squeeze 10+ hours SOT like I do basically every phone that I have anymore.
For overclocking, you realize we're pushing over 2GHZ right? Overclockimg back theb was taking an 800mhz chip and pushing it to 1Ghz. That was MONUMENTAL for such a small chip back then. But you need to google a few things before you rage over some abilities. The CPUS back then were 45+nm small!!. That's effing TINY compared to a human hair of 80,000nm! But we are at 5nm in THIS phone. That's 9 times smaller. There's only so much heat you can push through a chip, but we're also running wayyyy more complex screens, GPU's, GPS, bluetooth, everything. It's all done on one tiny chip. So there's going to be some give and take.
As for the fingerprint scanner, you gotta put the same finger in the phone at least twice and move it around, slight movements alllll around the finger and you will have a perfect scanner. Mine only fails if it is laying on the table and I try to unlock it without picking it up. But in hand? Every. Time. It works. Also? Wash your hands.
And for 5G? Fam...I get wicked stupid fast speed...the problem is if you are in an area that is congested...which it totally sounds like you are, your speeds are going to be horrific. Terrible radio aside, this is just the gamble you're in and you're losing. I recommend just switching it to 4G anyways since battery life increases by a literal hour or two just by that move andddd 4G travels further.
And did you mean "Cupcake"? Wth is cheesecake? I have been with android since Froyo, and don't remember cheesecake I could be wrong.
But my thing is reality vs. expectations piss even ME off at times, and usually it's like,"Okay...my bad...I figured for $1200 this phone would be great."
My biggest disappointment? The 50MP sensor. It's just 12mp. Just like everyyyyy other pixel. My 3a XL takes better pictures than the 6 pro. Fight me. It does. But I gave it to my mom. Are the 6 pro pictures bad? Not really. But it's not as capable as they touted it to be. And considering MY PHONE overheats anytime I try to use it really blows. But because my phone decided to crack itself in the heat one day google wants me to pay for the screen to fix their hardware BS which I refuse for the 4th time.
And Samsungs are not plastic anymore my dude...you need to get in your time machine...my girlfriend's S21 Ultra is wayyyyyy more premium feeling compared to my 6 Pro hand in hand. A better phone all around. It is faster, charges faster, takes better pictures, wayyy better video, last longer SOT, doesn't EVER get hot, charges STUPID. QUICK. He phone was at 20% and she has it capped st 85 for longevity but we started using the "fast charge" with my Easeus 100 watt cables and charger? Bro...her phone charges in 20 minutes. If that. We were BLOWN. AWAY. and it DOES NOT GET HOT. So I recommend trying then again and not letting past experiences from 7+ years ago fool you...
But yes, you're correct in some ways, they went backwards with "quality of feel" but you did get what you paid for...a phone that is overpowered with a slightly underpowered chip. But without proper thermal handover, an "overclock" would just throttle and ruin the experience more...
Sorry fam.
Oh yeah, the old Bionic days...that phone was a little tank! And then you get a forum like droidrzr where the devs and owners were all easily accessible and incredibly helpful and yeah we had a lot of fun there. The landscape has changed a lot since then (like Gytole said), and imho I think the rom scene took the worst hit when Google shut down G+. G+ was the one stop shop for roms and their devs, and when they shut G+ down everyone just kind of scattered like ants on a destroyed anthill although most of them came here. But yeah, although I am disappointed with my P6P I won't rage about how things have gotten worse because, hey, at least Google hasn't gone the Apple route and completely locked down their phones and ecosystem (yet lol) and they still do offer AOSP and we still have awesome devs around who are willing to use their time to give us our custom rom fix.
Thread cleaned!
Greetings to all. Just dropped in for a little cleanup. Please do not forget about XDA Rules regarding member conduct. Whether Google stinks or not is irrelevant, how you treat each other on the other hand, definitely is! So let's keep things polite and civil shall we.
Your cooperation is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

My fingerprint scanner is about 98% accurate these days, it is very rare for it not to unlock my Pixel 6 Pro on the first attempt. that said i'd still prefer a capacitive on in the rear.

Funny you say that. It takes 1-5 times for the Fingerprint scanner to unlock the phone, but put it in you cargo pants pocket and it will open half your apps, turn Bluetooth off, DND on, and call 3 different people on your contacts list

5G is probably the carrier. You said VZW?? I had VZW, but the 5G was crap as well as the insane billing. I have T-Mobile and my 5G is fast but yeah, the radios in the P6 have been criticized from Day 1

Man, I can't read that poop. Ever heard of paragraphs?
Want your phone to work well? Ditch the factory OS builds and install graphene.
Set it to enable fingerprint security, but NOT fingerprint UNLOCK.
You should never use biometric unlock because it isn't knowledge based and therefore not protected by your right aginst self incrimination.
Holy wall of text Batman!
Fingerprint sensor was slow on mine, but the first update I got in April, corrected that.
I totally agreed with your answer. My Problem is Solved
Have a nice day to all

Bro...
Cheesecake was a tool they used to go after the Motorola servers to pull down the latest ROM every night. Motorola was rewriting the ROM for Verizon every single day and they used cheesecake to pull those rewritten ROMs off of the Motorola servers that were used to send it out to the wild on thier test phones. Something like that. That's how we had it. If you were part of it you would have remembered that. It ended on Droid razr.com. It all
started on the droidforms.net and it went to Razrforums afterwards after we got kicked off Droid forums. I was talking about the overclocking only because it was something we were doing then I'm not saying we need to do it now. My whole point about bringing up those times was because it was so much fun. Everyday was something new and the drama and then The politics of it. We had daily reports from livingchaos who had like an insider inside Motorola of it was just it was all fun. I don't know how much a part of it you were, but I was right in the middle of it. I was one of reasons it all got switched from one form to the next. I had a fight with a guy named foxcat He was a moderator on Droid forms. He said something to me. Samurai thought he said it to him and it all blew up. The next day, the whole thing that moved to Droid razr forms. Anyhow, sorry if I perturbed anybody with my rant. My my ill written rant next time I just won't..

I made it 4 months between January and May before I got fed up and gave my phone away. I went back to my pixel 3 xl. Just like you and I'm currectly in the market for a non-pixel phone. They have completely ruined the brand for me.
My previous phone was the nexus 6 and I still have it. I turned it on a week ago and it is so buttery smooth compared to even my pixel 3 with whatever ROM I put on it. If it wasn't for the old battery and camera I would love to switch back. It has Android 11 on it thanks to the modding community. It might support later versions but I haven't tinkered with it much lately. I'm getting off track.
I say I'm going to leave the brand but it is tough. It's all the small things that you get from Google that I'm afraid I'm going to miss. The notification of what song is playing, call screening, and call hold are all features I use regularly.
I've ordered a new phone and I'm going to test the waters. See what it is like outside of the Google ecosystem. I'm afraid but what choice has Google given me. I either try an alternatives or get stuck with an aging phone.

Android 12 works well on the Nexus 6, but anything close to that recent is pretty slow on it. Battery is not hard to swap on it since unlike newer phones where you have to probably destroy the display to open up, you can just peel the back cover off of it.

Hey I had the Nexus 6 too and loved that phone. It's been downhill since. Goodluck on your venture. I hope you find a phone that suits your needs. If you do come back here and tell us about it. I'm nearly desperate at this point....goodluck !!!

When I had my Nexus 6, (Sitting in the drawer next to me), the last phone I could easily root and modify, a co-worker seeing it told me my phone was like a Muscle Car, and she was right. It was.
