7T UNLOCKED is in stock! - OnePlus 7T Guides, News, & Discussion

FYI, for anyone looking to get one. I just got a notification that the unlocked model is in stock with limited supply!
It doesn't look like you can find it directly on the website. Here is the link from the email:
https://www.oneplus.com/oneplus-7t?utm_source=restock&utm_medium=email
Good luck!

Yeah, you can only buy the T-Mobile version (on the USA website) unless you use your link.

Actually the OP is correct. In the US store if you use your computer you can see the unlocked 7T is in stock. Otherwise you have to use the link OP posted.

UK guy thinking of getting a HTC 10 while on holidays in Chicage July 2016

Hi, I was intending of getting a Pay as Go sim while in USA for my M9 but now that the 10 is out I thought I might get one whilst out there. Do you think the 10 will be readily available {July 8th - 27} and do I go for a unlocked version and get a Pay as Go sim or a carrier based one and unlock later.
My personal preference would be to purchase the unlocked version. Unfortunately, it would be unlikely that you would be able to find an unlocked version in a retail store, but time will tell if any retail stores will offer it. (It should be available through the HTC web site by then.) You would probably be stuck with getting a carrier branded model. (T-Mobile would be the GSM variant here in the United States.)

Yes, I realized that after I responded and edited my answer. (You were just too quick to point that out.)

Sorry. Just waiting around for my 10 to ship and trying to avoid work right now.
Two BestBuy reps claimed they would be carrying/able to order unlocked HTC 10's. I hope so, because I spent my saved phone cash on my wedding. If they do not carry it, I'll be forced into an unlocked S7.

want to purchase a pixel xl... which version?

I'm on Verizon. I want to root the phone and enjoy the fun of flashing, but not sure which one to get.
I've seen older websites saying get a Google one and not a Verizon one.
A little bit of info before I purchase is all I'm looking for.
Thank you

The Verizon version is locked down and you could only flash OTA's; no custom roms or recovery.
The US Unlocked version is compatible with US carriers and works fine on VZN,
AND it can be bootloader unlocked. You want the Google version for sure.

In my opinion I would buy the google version easier to unlock the bootloader there is a bunch of people on the forums saying a guy can unlock the VZW pixel but then you need to contact the dude let him remote access your computer etc. Easier to just buy the google version and unlock it yourself.

How to tell between verizon and unlocked without having the actual device

Hi, I currently am using a galaxy s9+ and I don't like it because you have to jump through so many hoops for root. I want to buy a pixel 2 xl used from my area but need unlocked version. How can I tell so I don't buy the wrong one?

Buy it directly from Google is the best way to be sure. Best Buy, Verizon, and most all the other retailers only sell the verizon variant, which means..it's locked down. Swappa isn't bad either for finding an unlockable version :good:
If you have the box, look at the barcodes.
If you see:
SIM ID= LOCKED
ESIM ID = Google version

Get the IMEI number from the seller and run it through this: http://www.imeipro.info/check_lg.html If the seller cannot or will not provide the IMEI in advance to check beforehand, then do not buy it.

Yes I've ran it through here. Now what? There's no where that says Google or Verizon

If your willing to post a pic, we'd be able to help you. There's a specific line that should give an indication of what type it is.

If either Verizon or Google, it will be very clear. What does yours say under BUYER CODE and BUYER NAME ? Mine are USX & GOOGLE_OPEN_64G.
if it has VZW in the buyer name, its locked bootloader.
I think this one is Verizon?

Thanks everyone! Torn between waiting for op6 then selling s9+ or just selling s9+ and getting pixel 2 xl. But this definently helps if I decided pixel!

What versions of Pixel 2 XL can be root

I want to order Pixel 2 XL from Ebay or Amazon, but I do not know how to choose the version that can be root. Read that Pixel 2 XL verizon cannot be root. Maybe there is a more complete and accurate list of models of this device that are subject to root and unlock bootloader?

You've got the Google and Verizon variants and that's about it. Definitely look for the Google variant if you want to unlock and root it.

Thx. Are there any pitfalls? Maybe some of the Google models are also not rooted?

And watch when buying it other than directly from Google. The ads on Amazon or Best Buy will say "unlocked". They mean carrier unlocked, not bootloader unlocked. It has to come from Google to be bootloader unlocked, and you need that to root it.

I understand that. What exact information do I need to check with the seller to understand that it is not Verizon? Imei hardly provide all sellers.

If you are buying new, it has to come from the Google store. If used that is going to be hard. The best way would be to have the seller send you a screenshot of the allow OEM unlocking. Its in developer options and will be blue like mine like below. There are resellers on swappa that will know what you are talking about. Private sellers may not know.

Verizon VRZ_FRU can sometimes be bootloader unlocked, I have one.

An easier method, though it assumes the seller has the box, is to ask if there is a SIM ID barcode on the box. Only Verizon P2XL boxes will have one, and it will be present in addition to the ESIM ID barcode.
If a SIM ID is present do not buy.

TMobile variant

Probably too early to know for sure, but does anyone have any opinions on whether there will eventually be a conversion tool to convert a TMobile version into an international version for the 7t the way there was for the 6t? I would buy unlocked, but with my T-Mobile JUMP program I can get the 7t for approximately 70 bucks out of pocket.

Did you ever find a tool for this?
In the short term, no. You probably won't find one. I believe it has more to do with the fact that OP7T released with Android 10 and that's also impacting our ability to get TWRP fully working. It's a bummer that the Free Unlocking thread has been closed for now, but that's your only and best bet for unlocking early at this point.

If the unlocking thread is indeed locked then this is the only reason its not possible as the ability to convert to International has been available for months. My T-Mobile 7T is currently running the International ROM with zero issues.
Otherwise it would require either a friendly Customer Service rep or pay off the device.
How did you get yours unlocked

I could have swore I posted this already. But anyway, there's absolutely no "tool" for this. But the process can easily be done, as I did with mine. Fastboot flash indian rom first, then do a local upgrade of the global rom.. Right now I'm running open beta 2, on the tmobile variant. There's a more detailed guide here on XDA on how to do it, but thats the basic steps.
