Firmware n - TCL 10 Pro Questions & Answers

What's latest firmware people are on? and is there location of stock firmware online to check for latest builds [emoji106]
Sent from my T799H using Tapatalk

From what I've read these are all on Android 10, not much more information than that other than, TCL have promised 1 more major OS update which is to android 11, probably sometime next year. To be honest I think that's awful, most OEMs do 2 major updates at least. Might have something to do with the processor only being the Snapdragon 635. This time in 2 years, even low budget devices will have stronger processors. The only reason I've not looked in to rooting this, is coz I am not confident enough for it to last so would need the warranty.

Twitter campaign against Samsung updates

It is absolutely inacceptable that Samsung top smartphones (with value over 600€!) take months after a new android version has been released to get the update.
Again now the update to Android 6.0 for S6 edge+ is DELAYED TO 1Q2016.
I propose to start a campaign against Samsung software updates in Twitter. Common let's start creating preassure to Samsung adding @Samsungmobile @samsung and #SamsungUpdatesTakeAges

Can you tell me other phones besides nexus that already have android 6??

Twitter campaign extended against all OEMs. Fixed! :victory:
Why anyone need fast and bugged update?
Sure... for LG G4 I've got 6.0 about month ago.
Agree why does anyone need updates? Only reason to get 6.0 is for proper SD card functionality (at last). Everything else is just the same. Kitkat and Lollipop to all intents and purposes are the same.
For the new Samsung phones there are no SD cards so no need for urgent updates.
Meanwhile in the real world, 99.95% of all smartphone consumers are sending texts and checking email completely oblivious to which software version they are running, and consider updating their phones an inconvenience.
I don't think Samsung or any other OEM is going to listen to this mouse roar.
The only useful feature Marshmallow brings is Doze. Most phones will get 6.0 in Q1 2016. I prefer to wait than get a 6.0 rom filled with bugs. If you want day 1 software updates go Nexus or iPhone.

Of course updates are important but bug fixes are more important for me.
Love to have Doze update. Can't wait any longer. I want it now. but the question is will it really extend the battery life?
android 6.0 looks more like lollipop then might as well just call it android 5.2 update.
Small UI color changes not a major update to be honest.
Might as well just wait for android N 7.0 update.
VERY pleased to read the above replies to the OP. I have never understood why people wait with baited breath for a new OS then for sure when it arrives moan and groan about its teething problems!
I am happy with the OS I have and don't need more teething problems and bugs caused by 'new' OS updates.

Is one ever too old for a quality phone?

I hope not, because I just upgraded my 72 year old mother from a Nexus 5 to a OnePlus 3. Well, it's on the way.
I may not modify anything on the phone. However, I do have a question: Does OnePlus update their phones to the latest versions of Android often, regularly, or will she be lucky to see updates at all?
Thanks!

They are generally quite good regarding monthly security updates.
Regarding new android versions, it's not exactly the same. Oh, they will definitely update the OP3 to Android Nougat. Android O won't be out and you'll already have Nougat on your phone ! Amazing ! So fast !
Oneplus are certainly not the best regarding updates but they are probably not the worst.
Don't expect fast updates like Nexus.
Monthly updates are nice, if there're bugs , you may get 2-3 update per month. You surely get the Android N update, but with my experiences with OP1 and 2, you will have to wait 3-4 months after nexus, simply because you are running on a custom android- Oxygen( quite nice now) so they are worth waiting.
and remember you always have HUGE deverlop community here, OP forum &chinese forums( which you could have strange ROMs port ) , so dont afraid ,

The OP3 is a shift for them. I think they're potentially going to change the game up on their whole paradigm simply based on the success of this phone. The public and media seem to be pretty fond of the OP3 at present, and Oneplus will need to maintain that momentum and keep their client base happy. If they're smart, they'll push Android M no later than Q4 of this year.

So is proper Nougat support is out the window...?

According to this article, Android 7.0 is dropping support for the Snapdragon 800 chip and the Adreno 330 GPU, the latter of which we unfortunately share in our 801 chip. Depending on the wording I'm not sure if this means the chipsets are "unsupported" or "will not work" on 7.0... In any case, if Qualcomm won't make new drivers for 7.0 then that means even if a Nougat ROM came for us then it might not have things like Vulkan support or could be cripplingly buggy. Although that's not a crippling loss it does stink that this might be the end of the road for this phone... I've hardly had mine for two years.
Am I right about all of this or is there still hope for decent unofficial support?
Long story short, no nougat. Qualcomm isn't updating the graphics driver anymore. The m8 is end of life at this point anyways though... ?
Hoping my shiny M8 is not old already but, to be honest, I really haven't noticed much difference /improvement since KitKat. I think it's just nice to say I have the latest Android.
Nougat will just be another 'nice to have'

Will OnePlus continue OP3 support??

After the release of the OP3T, OnePlus has decided to discontinue sales of the OP3 according to Android authority. http://www.androidauthority.com/oneplus-3-officially-discontinued-us-europe-729580/
Could this mean that sooner or later, they might drop the support of the OP3 due to how they have to work on updates for both phones? They have slightly different specs so that might mean they have to work on two different sets of updates right?
There is slight difference in OP3 and OP3T, basically in Soc. OP3T will obviously require different drivers etc and they definitely will not care for the older one. You know what, they have released 7 beta updated for OP3 but nothing worth noticeable is there in these updates except their try to push own bloatware. Some of the OEM have updated their devices to nougat but not Oneplus. If LG can make their device updated to nougat out of the box then why not Oneplus. If they release nougat for OP3 than it will have negative impact on sale of OP3T which they never let happen. They will be updating OP3T to nougat and OP3 will get it after few months

The OPX will not get official Nougat as the 801 doesn't pass Google's certification as Qualcomm is not updating the drivers to support OpenGL ES 3.1.
quite disappointed on how quickly OP decided to destroy its great public image made after release of OP3...
lel, what did you guys expect from "LYING CARL" ? You can't trust a single word this guy says.

Absolutely true
Don't speculate. Wait and see.
OP are vastly smaller than LG or Samsung, there isn't simply the quantity of devices out there as OP can't manufacture that many. So they're taking advantage of the newer hardware and quickly updating to the newest CPU, rather than continuing to manufacture devices on older hardware. This is why OP3 has been discontinued.
Software-wise, again, they don't have the development team to get Nougat out to us 'RIGHT NOW', but we've been promised it by the end of the year on both devices. I've been very pleased with the amount of updates and community builds so far.
OP4 will hit probably six months from now and that maybe an incremental update again, unless we see a snapdragon 830 or something!

Asus zenfone 5z: Android P release date.

Does any one know when will this latest flagship from asus is about to get Android P.
As the direct compiters of this device is far ahead of the game in providing updates(but with my exp of using this device couple of days it's Sw is pretty stable).
As a android user I will be always eager to use latest updates from Google and see how the performance and innovation is getting improved.
My past exp with using custom roms is very bad and my openion in custom roms is full of bugs and instability.
Instead the device maifacturer has the competency to build and test the rom which is reliable enough. So depending on the OEM is far better. This is just my openion but unfortunately OEM's are not dependable and greedy these days due to completion and other things in market.
Bottom line when is the Android P expected to this device. Or in your openion should I shift to a good supplier who provides faster updates.
Thanks.

Thanks for replying.
Let me think. I am a bit worried as I have a latest flagship from asus but running 8.0 still
Anyway thanks.
Why are people so hung up on the getting the newest update immediately? There are usually bugs that need to be worked out, such as the Android P fast charging bug.
I'd rather get it a little later after it's smoothed out.
I'm expecting it at end of Q4/18.

This is not a flagship from asus point of view. They treat ROG series as one
