update twrp and android for an old install - Nexus 7 (2013) Q&A

I've just found my trusty old Nexus 7 , and want to bring it up to date.
Whats the best method to get from TWRP 2.8.7.1 and Android 6 to something that'll run Android 10 ?
Can I do that in 1 go, or do I need to do multiple upgrades ?
any advice would be greatly appreciated

Yes, 1-go works, better yet, "1-click" is possible with CROSS.

How do I update TWRP on my n900t?

Hello. I've been reading threads for hours trying to figure out how to update TWRP on my n900t and getting mixed answers. Right now I have version 2.3.6.1 and I want to update it do to a bad bootlooping experience I had today. Can anyone help a guy out on this fine Thanksgiving day?
I just don't know if I just use Odin to install a newer version over the older one or if theres more to it then that. I usually just go with my gut but after being stuck in a bootloop for most of the day until someone helped me on here (thanks again!) I really want to be sure. Might be a "noob" question but at least I'll be a noob with a working note 3 and that's cool with me! Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Also, can anyone tell me where to find the latest version of twrp for the n900t? Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving...
Thanks..…...

I have the sm-900t , and I've been hard bricked for a month, because of twrp and I followed the site instructions. If you like your phone, unroot and go stock, an enjoy the phone as/is until all unbrick/etc methods are posted and confirmed. You've been warned....
For others who want to know a different method, install Goomanager from play store and you can install the latest version for your device from there.

Assuming you are at 4.4.4 (because reboots were supposed to be fixed in 4.4.3), the only real advice I can give, is to backup whatever you care about (you can use Helium from Koushik, does not need root), and do a factory reset, reinstall the OS from factory images, if it still happens and it's under warranty, send it back.
I am still 4.3

Sorry no, I do not know of where to get that image anymore. Good luck with the reboot thing.
KitKat > JellyBean. Time to let it go.

If you mean can you use another ROM for a different device, no. There is maybe one exception , people have reported that they have flashed flo ROM onto deb (minus a working radio), and assuming this works, it is a anomaly, and I still would not recommend someone do it, even if it does work.
If you mean a new version meant for your device, then yes, of course you can.
ok

I still don't understand, I think we're having a language barrier issue or something, you specified which build you're going to use (4.4.4 KK for flo) then you say you're going to use a different build, which is it?
If you have a N7 2013 wifi device, then flashing 4.4.4 for N7 2013 wifi ROM is OK, and will not cause issues.

I saw that thread, but unfortunately it says "Nougat" and apparently it is not a very stable root, it causes lower performance. I think Marshmallow is easier to root, but I'm not sure what steps to follow.
@miniminus, can you help me please?
Can someone please help me?
If you can't find it, I don't think there is a way to do it.

Hi Luca.
I just got a prompt for this update. Did you install it? Were there any adverse effects that you noticed?
I'd appreciate anyone's feedback before I take the plunge.
Thanks

Got the same version OTA, let's see how it goes
My battery life increased significantly on C.64. It's the best Android 12 experience on my 9 Pro (EU) yet!

I've never heard of Magisk. I've just had a look at their website.
If you have time, what we're the real life advantages you gained?
Any risks involved?
Thanks

Hi, Magisk is for root. If u want to do any modifications of your system the base is the root. But u need to unlock your bootloader and this will wipe all your data. If u don't know what is stay away.

Thank you for the advice. I haven't rooted a phone since the LG G3!!!
I'm really happy with the performance of the 9 pro as it is, it's a fantastic phone, especially for the measly sum of £450
I came from a Huawei p30 Pro which was also a great phone (apart from AAwireless headaches) but an update to EMUI 11 ruined it so I learned a hard lesson there.... Seek advice or research updates before you jump in head first
This forum has been a really helpful tool for me over the years, so thank you again everyone.
