Backup question please - Xiaomi Mi 10T Lite Questions & Answers

Hi,
I have a mi10t lite 5G and a Poco X3 NFC
My Poco X3 NFC bootloader has been unlocked and TWRP installed.
My mi10t lite 5G, has not been unlocked. It's brand new on Android 10, MIUI version 12.0.2 (I have to option to update it)
What I wanted to ask is, if I install all the apps I require on my mi10t lite 5G from the playstore and some side loaded apps e.g tubemate, bsplayer, etc is it possible to transfer all of this data (including any settings for the apps/system) on another Xaiomi phone aka the Poco X3 NFC?
I'm just worried as I know if I go down the route of unlocking my mi10t lite 5G i will have to wipe it by default anyway which means I will lose everything.
If so, how can I create a backup just in case I need to wipe the mi10t lite 5G or Poco and want to restore the apps/settings back on the devices please?
Do I need to log in to my Mi Account for the mi10t lite 5G and then start installing apps, adjusting settings etc and then do a cloud backup or something?
Thanks very much.

- some of the apps use cloud storage of its settings/data, but they are still quite rare and I would not rely on this type of backup/restore.
- you can't restore data manually without root. ADB method is unreliable and works only for some apps.
- if you need to have a fully working backup, root the phone and use Titanium backup. It backs up data of all apps, including the system ones. You can then restore data and/or apps on another phone.
- you might have more luck with Mi Account/cloud, but I personally don't want to send my data to Xiaomi servers
I would advise to do what I did - request bootloader unlocking on Mi 10T, wait 2 weeks and use the old phone during this time. Once you can unlock the bootloader, root the new phone and restore all data/apps from Poco X3 to your Mi 10T.

Thanks for the reply.
I guess I am going to unlock the xi10t lite and later root the phone and use Titanium backup thanks!
Do banking apps work with a rooted phone?

@_mysiak_
Poco X3 NFC - Now rooted
So now I am going to set the Poco X3 up with all the apps/settings/system settings that I require and then use Titanium backup to backup all the data and restore it on the mi10tlite when that has been unlocked+rooted.
Is this the way to do it?
btw do banking apps work with a rooted phone?

Urgent help for backup

Dears, I have nothing but 24 hours to backup my beloved OP3 before the carrier comes to bring it in RMA (burn in problems on display).
Some files have been directly taken from the device (e.g., videos and photos), some others have been backupped by means of OP Switch... but the latter won't save application files and that's it, I need urgently to entirely backup & restore (as they were) some application such as Google Authenticator .
I heard Titanium Backup could do the magic but unfortunately I'm not rooted, and doing this might result in a lose warranty (which is not the case to risk, due to the fact the phone might be repaired in warranty).
Any tip? Tried with adb pull to get the Google Authenticator DB as read in several web pages, but got no luck ( I think it's a permission issue ).
Thanks, your help is highly appreciated.
OnePlus supports device customization so unlocked bootloader and root shouldn't be an issue, so I'd go with Titanium.
That said, there's a Helium app (and desktop program) that's supposed to be able to backup app data without root. Sounds like you'll have to install apps fresh, but then you can restore their data. Never tried it myself though. Here's a link with a quick guide: https://www.androidpit.com/how-to-backup-and-restore-app-data-with-or-without-root
Sent from my OnePlus 3 using Tapatalk
THanks,
unfortunately, unlocking the bootloader results in a complete wipe of the device, so that's not an option.... Tried the Helium app, didn't understood that well how it works but when it comes to a backup of 84 apps' data, in the restore phase i can see only 16. That said, probably it's a matter of proper authorization performing the backup (that is to say, root is not necessary, but without root you can backup only 1/10 of your apps data).

Best way to backup with no cloud and/or Google/3rd party involved?

I'm on LOS 15.1 on my OP5T, extremely happy so far.
Thinking about upgrading to LOS 16, while keeping all my existing data, contacts, apps etc.
Is it possible to do without using any cloud or Google service?
Many thanks in advance.
titanium backup pro
Is there a way to use it without rooting the device?
Also I see a lot of complains on crashes lately in the Pro version.
Comments?
Seems like any complete backup solution will require a root after all.
What about 'Migrate'? is it any better than Titanium?
What about backing up from TWRP?
Which partitions should I backup to keep contacts, apps and files?
Will I be able to restore it after upgrading to LOS 16?
Do I need to move the backup file to my PC and restore using ADB after flashing LOS16?
Is it even necessary, or should I simply flash the ROM and nothing will be missing?
Would really appreciate some guidance here

Question Looking for an alternative full backup solution to Titanium.

As the title says, I've been using Titanium for quite some time now and it works very well for the task.
However, I'm looking for an alternative full backup solution to Titanium since it tends to freeze (even though it gets the job done) and the interface is really outdated (sometimes confusing).
Open source and free would be nice, but I'll take a paid app if the asking price is reasonable and app really gets the job done.
What about oandbackup? I used it only once but it did the job.
I use swift backup, it can backup directly to gdrive
I bought it many years ago, but it was fairly inexpensive at the time, it's an IAP so you can check whatever it supports now and see if it works out for you
I have just switched to swift backup from titanium backup because of split apks. Its pretty good and I use migrate for backing up and switching roms.
I'll look into these backup alternatives, I've tried Migrate and I really like it.
I'd like to only one all-in-on backup solution, but I don't mind having two really good apps compromising each other in features.
Can't go wrong with SwiftBackup. Works very well and has a lot of settings and customisations which you can use to adopt it to your usecase
I use Migrate now... I think so far it's the best... also I've Titanium Backup, MyBackup Pro (before)... In the midst of switching to other ones... then I tried Swift Backup... but if you want privacy... and avoiding using Google Backups... This is not an option... it is very annoying that every time installing this app, you have to make the app go online to phone home and tie to your Google Account first... even I just want to do offline local backup... I've decided not to pay for it, was intended to pay, after hearing all the praises about Split APKs. Also recently I used it (Swift Backup) to backup... I have problem restoring an app... with some error of an app. I won't count on this one too much.
Swiftbackup
Stupidly painless
No Google or Miui Cloud backups here...
Does TWRP backup work for the Poco F3 yet and how does it work exactly (never actually backup up with TWRP)?

The previous TWRP didn't restore my backup. I haven't tested the latest release however seeing the development discussions they've been focusing on ROM flashing and zip flashing so backup restore has not been prioritized so I assume it still doesn't work yet
Swift Backup + Migrate looks likes a good alternative full backup solution to Titanium Backup.
I'm still testing it out, but so far so good...thanks again guys.
Neo Backup (formerly OAndBackupX) can be a really good option if someone is still looking for backup tool. And Migrate-GPE for changing ROM and stuff.

Help please unlocking bootloader

Hi
I have a RN8P Global 12.5.1
How can i unlock the bootloader whithout loosing data, exactly App's Data. And rooting it
It's important for me to save it, but whithout Root, Titanium don't work.
Or is there any other solution to backup App's Data with another software or a Windows software.
Thanks in advance for your help
unlocking bootloader while retaining data is not possible, sadly.. but most of your data will be saved and restored with Google account. you can also use MIUI backup if you're still gonna use MIUI after unlocking

Hi
Thanks for your answer, is there any solution to backup App's Data ?
With MIUI backup, no App's Data are saved, also with Google.
Or transfer data to another device ?
Thanks in advance

hmm based on experience after unlocking bootloader, and even flashing new ROM, most of my apps data got restored by Google like app settings and preferences, messages, home settings, etc.
which specific app do you need to restore data on? perhaps it has a way to backup and restore data, like in most messaging apps. if it's a game, you can connect it to Google Play Games too
just treat it like you're transferring to a new device/phone, and you'll be okay and won't miss much

Hi
Thanks for your reply
It's not game's data, but apps like CCTV apps with special data.
I tried to transfer it in a new Samsung Tab, but only the apps are restored, not the apps data.
Titanium do it verry well but with the root

Question complete backup of system/apps/data on non-rooted OP9P (from a newbie at OP9P)

Hello to the community,
I am quite new here at OP9P (had several Samsung and one Huawei smartphone before) and I have a question:
How can I backup my complete system (incl. all apps and data) on my OP9P (not rooted) with Orginal software (OOS LE2123_11_C.48) and restore it if necessary? So far I have not found a solution while searchin the net (only with rooted phone)....
It would be nice if someone from the community could give me a tip (maybe a tutorial)
Many thanks already...
Greetings from hot Bavaria/Germany
Assuming you are talking about a system image, you don't need root, but you need a custom recovery for this, which in turn requires an unlocked bootloader.
If you haven't unlocked the bootloader yet, be aware that when you unlock it the 1st time, everything on your device will be wiped. For Samsung devices, this process will trip the Knox counter permanently, and void warranty.
With root, you'll be able to backup individual apps and their data.
In short, without root, there is no way to backup app data from within the system. And without a custom recovery, you cannot take a system image.
Android Backup is pretty limited without root. iOS backups are better in this aspect because you can backup all app data.
Thx for your fast reply... This is what i thought of too... Big thx anyway bro
actually, the only known workaround to backup all app data without root is with D2D transfer apps like
Clone Phone (still that won't help you on bricked device)
How do you access the D2D (Device-to-Device) Data Transfer functionality?
So, as of Android 12, rightfully so: https://developer.android.com/about/versions/12/backup-restore For apps running on and targeting Android 12 and higher: Specifying android:allowBackup="false" does disable backups to Google Drive, but doesn’t...

Root phone?
Before rooting, you have to unlock bootloader. Doing that will wipe everything. What will he backup then?

I use FTP Server Pro along with Filezilla Client on my computer too for non-app data. i.e. Everything else. If you're rooted then you can poke about in system folders too.
Once you copy everything into a folder, it makes it easy to backup/restore the whole storage.
