Question (Defect Unit?)Anyone else's 9 Pro wobbles when placing on a flat surface facing down? - OnePlus 9 Pro

I casually put down my newly arrived 9 Pro facing down on my desk last night, and I noticed it's not leveled with the desk.
I expected the back to wobble due to the camera bump, but not the front.
Check 6T, and 11 Pro Max, neither wobbles when placed facing down at the same spot.
I know it's curved edge display, just wondering if anyone else has the same issue, or I just got a defect unit(internal components could be compromised) and need a RMA.

Why do you put the screen face down on the desk?

Bended phone

Does anyone has a problem with the phone not being perfectly straight?
Now, when i let it on a flat surface, the phone does not sit perfectly on its back. Upper left corner and bottom right corner are a bit (2-3mm) up from the flat surface...
I tried to straighten it (by applying some force to bend it in the other way) but it comes back to it's original bend..,
It seems like you might have gotten a faulty device. Mine is as flat as it should be. Is it really that big of a deal? These kind of manufacturing errors tend to happen, but not very often.
To be honest, that would drive me mad! The 2 phones we have are perfectly flat. For me, the whole point of buying the phone was for the design. I've got rif of my Galaxy S4 and I'm happy to accept the downgrade in performance because the P6 has a nice design/feel. I'd be taking the phone back to wherever you bought it as it's obviously defective....
Mine isnt too. Theres maybe 1mm space between table and phone when i push it from one side. But this is not a big problem, im dealing with it
Maybe your battery bulged? You had over heating problems?

It does overheat, but i understood is a general problem given the design of this phone. But i don't see any bump or something different on the back, just that it gets a little bent from time to time.

Mine as well.
@Yash24 , @tiberiuharcsa thanks guys for confirming regarding this issue.
Have it, too. But no problem. Seems to be normal.

And what is to do now? Maybe all Z Plays have this. You must look very critical to see this "issue". For me it's ok. There is no 100% perfect phone.
But is the issue bigger, then I would call the support.

I agree, it's not a major issue, I was thinking to take of the screen completley and reglue it using some duble sided tape... But there is a risk of breaking the screen in the proces... It's not worth it
What about putting duck tape across top and bottom of the screen? Don't forget to make holes for loudspeaker, front camera and proximity sensor. And for microphone and fingerprint at bottom
So, you're all saying that tbe whole screen is moving a bit in the case? Check teardown and you'll see that is actually glued. Not my favorite solution but I suppose is cost effective.

Yah it's glued and very liberally glued at the top and the bottom of the screen. How do I know? Broke my screen a few months ago and replaced my screen myself.

That's good news, actually. I've watched some tear down videos and guy was heating screen before trying to take it off.
From where and for how much you got replacement?

Bought a screen off eBay, yes you need to heat up the glue underneath the screen with a heat gun.
Got the new screen in after I had to remove all the small piece of glass that was still glued but it's not an easy repair and I still have screen issues I assume the screen isn't the same quality as the original one which comes with a silver backing plate.
In bright sunlight my screen turns blue
The battery maybe will never die, because a bigger LiPo much longer live as a small one and we just load again all 2 or 3 days. So that's ok that's build in. Maybe the screen is much earlier broken. Hope it doesn't broke
My battery has 3600mAh(3597)

175 Canadian labour free because I did the repair.
No moto shouldn't use any less glue, just don't drop your phone is my advise

I don't think that anyone is planning to drop the phone. Except maybe Turbo 2/Force.

Ironically, mine got green lines literally sitting on the desk.
I can confirm my phone has the same problem near the top left corner. It is so disappointing to see such a bad build quality.
If you observe carefully just above volume up button screen is not even inside the aluminum frame there is slight gap. And if you apply little pressure screen goes down. Is this normal ?

Yes, normal. Maybe it's make easier to get the sceen away to replace the battery. Normally you can't see this. You must really look exactly

Polarized display on the Redmi Note 5 Pro

Hi,
Because I just got a pair of polarized sunglasses, I have discovered that the display on my RN5 Pro seems to be polarized. While this sounds good, the practical effect is that if I hold my phone vertically while wearing my sunglasses, I can't see the screen at all. I can only see it if I hold the phone horizontally.
Is this something that is physically part of the display? Is there any option to change/rotate or turn off the polarization? Any ideas?
Thanks!

I noticed the same thing and was not pleased. I have no idea how the physics works but after putting on a glass screen protector it works just fine...

And now you can see the screen with polarised sun glasses?
Amazing!
Ho, I was about to ask a similar question, that a coincidence
The fact is, the redmi note 5 ha a polarized filter (like all LCD panels) oriented at 90° from the one of other smartphone I had (nexus 5X, Redmi note 4, etc.). As per consequence I can't see anything in portait mode but it's all clear in landscape, witch is terrible for car use.
If a screen protector can mitigate this issue, it worth the try

Hi All,
I put a cheap glass screen protector (a dollar or two from ebay) on the phone, and the problem disappeared. It would be interesting to learn the physics behind it, but practically, all you have to know is put any kind of glass screen protector on and the issue goes away. And you keep the phone looking good. So bonus.
Thanks for the discussion, everyone.

Exactly the one I ordered. You can see my result in the picture.
Edit: I have stopped using the protector, mainly because it would get smudged very easily.

Yeah it worked good for polarized problem. Maybe this full body protector use a different glass than this i.e.: https://www.amazon.it/Ferilinso-Xia...749688&sr=8-1&keywords=pocophone+screen+glass

I have discovered that my redmi note 5 is polarized vertically, while another redmi note 5 i bought for my girlfriend, is polarized horizontally. Strange

Rear camera bump angled?

I just noticed while looking at the phone from the side my rear camera bump has a slight angle downward. Like the bottom is almost flush with the phone while the top is out the most. It looks like it's by design since when the phone sits on a flat surface the angle would match since it does protrude out towards the top. It looks more drastic in person. The picture here barely shows it.

I was putting a case on it, and when I turned it sideways the sun hit it just right, and my eye caught the slightest angle. All chance. I wasn't even looking for it.
Same
I have this too. I noticed it when I was putting a dbrand skin on. I assume it's to reduce camera wobble but I don't know.
My original P3 XL purchased on Dec 2018 had it, but i didnt noticed it until earlier this year. I thought my wiping of the lense caused it as time went by... Now on May 2020 i cracked my rear glass, so i did a Assurant replacement... The replacement device i got, was refurb, and was perfectly straight. No lean.... BUT that device had issue with touch sensitivity, so i had it replaced and the new refurb also has a slanted camera glass....
So i dunno, maybe its like that, maybe it should? Who knows.

is this normal?

Hi, please see the picture and tell me if it's happened to you, the back glass not fitting correctly after only 3 months of normal use, no drop, and what do you suggest a solution? thank you.
I was just noticing this on mine a few days ago. But I cant remember if it was always this way. I noticed it after my phone got super hot from charging, at 1st I though it was the battery swelling. Device cares app says my battery is healthy. So idk but the seams seem to be consistent all around just wider than I thought they were.

Probably an adhesive failure/improper assembly. May or may not effect it's water/dust resistance.
Needs to be disassembled to be examined/ repaired.
Extreme heat weakens the adhesive bond of the strips used to secure the back panel. It's possible that careful heating and then pressing down could reseat it, but given the cost of the phone probably best to leave it to an experienced tech. Also the adhesive surface may have by now become contaminated with dust making simple attachment impossible without replacing the strip.
