OP3 Official update installation

So I'm running OOS 3.2.6. which is rooted. In the software update it shows 3.2.7 (1.3GB) available for download but it also says "Root detected, downloading full upgrade. Note: your device will be unrooted." So if i download and install this will it work ? Also, whats the best way to install official updates on a rooted OOS ?
You need clean install of oxygen before you can update regardless, just have to reflash su again afterwards and any kernels xposed you use.

You can easily install it, but after the download su will be removed, so you will have to reflash it.

I'd recommend flashing stock recovery before downloading the OTA update as twrp "sometimes" fail to flash OTA updates. Also flashing the 1.3 gb full update will remove your root. You'll have to flash supersu again for root. And you'll have to do this everytime an OTA comes.
The best way to install official updates on rooted phone is to download the patch only file for 3.2.7 and flash it via twrp. The patch file will be around 40-50MB and it is available somewhere in the XDA threads. Search for it.

Best way is to download OTA update from oneplus forum instead of complete ROM and just flash update

I did try that for the 3.2.7 update. Dirty flashed the OTA patch but it didn't seem to work. It's still 3.2.6

updating to new oxygen os

Just wondering if it's safe to upgrade to the new oxygen OS update on a rooted op3. I know you can't upgrade from marshmallow to nougat but a smaller OS update is OK?
Sure, you can update it. But keep in mind that you'll lose root, so you'll have to flash SuperSU (or whatever you're using) again.

Cool it won't brick my phone or anything? I want to download the beta so I can just install it and the re root my phone? Sorry new to all this.
Yes, you can safely update to beta. Just make sure you have modified TWRP 3.0.2-22 before flashing. Official TWRP 3.0.2-1 doesn't play nicely with new firmware in community builds.
So:
1. Flash TWRP 3.0.2-22
2. Upgrade ROM
3. Flash SuperSU
4. Done 🙂

Nope, and even when it's bricked it's fixable.
Thanks. I bricked my oneplus last week and it was so stressful getting it unbricked so just a little nervous .
Also if you're unencrypted (like me), oos will require SuperSU to even boot

[MIUI 10] Stable OTA updates with TWRP and Root?

I'm gonna unlock the bootloader, install TWRP, root MIUI 10.0.4 with Magisk and enable Camera2API tomorrow. After doing that am I gonna be able to update MIUI through Official OTA updates?

I have been doing it with twrp also!
OF and RW both are twrp based!
I've finally unlocked bootloader and now I have MIUI 10.0.4 with TWRP, Magisk and Pixel 3 Camera + Night Sight working! I checked and my phone have ARBV4 enabled, I'm scared of updating MIUI. I will only upgrade if the next stable update is very good, because there's a very high chance that I'll have to root again with Magisk.

does twrp official supports OTA.?
OrangeFox detects OTA Miui packages and patches them when installed, preventing the recovery from being replaced.

The new Gcam is totally worth it! It's the phone we love, but better. We don't have an official developer to our phone, but BSG (the main developer) ported the latest Gcam with Night Sight (NS) working on Android 8.1. You can take amazing photos that can't be taken with the stock camera. Here you can find the latest Gcam releases: GCAM Port
I attached some NS shots (no editing and without tripod)!

With TWRP you can't update OTA. With OF and RW you can but you lose the root. This is not a problem because you can root it again with magisk throuth OF or RW.

You'll be just fine, just if you have Magisk, make sure you have Magisk-x.x.zip in your internal storage when you do OTA update through TWRP recovery. But don't download OTA update through MIUI OS, go to the MIUI website, download latest OTA update full package, put that zip file in your internal storage as well, and lazy flasher.
Reboot into TWRP, adveced wipe, wipe Dalvik cash and cash, go back, Install - install that OTA update you downloaded earlier, again, back, install - Magisk-x.x.zip, back, install lazy flasher, but don't forget to install lazy flasher, i think it's a must. And you're updated. Good luck :good:

If you have MIUI 10.2.1 then no data/cache wipe using OrangeFox recovery when updated to MIUI 10.2.2. I have updated it with no issues or data loss. From MIUI 9 to MIUI 10, it may required to clear cache.

Just got the phone and it updated to .5, and late at night, .6 showed up. It installed without all the trouble with TMo 7.
It unrooted, and I used the .5 magisk patched.img above without any problems, but will use .6 when available.
Careful with the fingerprint enrollment, factory wiping with root has been known to break fingerprint. Just a heads up.
Theres a thread about this, there isn't a currently known fix either.
Has happened to EU BA devices but you never know.

I've been able to unlock the bootloader on my Oneplus 8 Pro and am trying to locate a magisk patch compatible with 10.5.1.in11aa, yet can't locate this version. However, there's an OTA update available for my phone at takes it to 10.5.10. If I first perform that OTA update, where can I then find a compatible version of magisk?
TIA!

Don't make things complicated, update to 10.5.10, boot twrp, install magisk from the zip
^ Pardon my noobness, but does the Magisk version have to match the OxygenOS version, or can I simply use the latest Magisk version? Lots of chatter about getting the Magisk that matches.

Rollback from BETA 3 to STABLE 10.0.9

Anyone can help me how to Rollback from BETA 3 to STABLE 10.0.9?
Obviously return error that stable is older than beta.
Thanks
Maybe flashing Fastboot rom will work without issues. But I didn't test it.
Of course you can't local update to 10.0.9 since it's old dated than OB3. You have to wait for a roll back zip.
Rolling back from a beta to a lower stable on the OP5 was just a case of booting into recovery and choosing the lower stable zip.
Have you tried from recovery ?
Basically the same procedure except your performing the rollback from recovery directly instead of the software system menu method.
Subscribing to thread. I find the actual phone service and signal strength is poor on Beta 3 and am anxious to get off of it.
Use msm tool
You can install the rollback package found on OB1 thread on OnePlus forums..it takes you back to 10.0.8 and can install update on top of that...
Anyone tried it yet with the ob1 rollback package? I just want to be sure before doing it. Thank!

That's why I said try it with Fastboot rom. You can easily edit the flash.bat file and flash without wipe. But I can't say if that works without issues.
