Question Want to check if battery Battery Info is correct - Samsung Galaxy F62 / M62

Hey, I bought Samsung F62 and I am getting paranoid if there is some issue with my battery
1) Can someone try to install this program
Device Info HW - Apps on Google Play
Hardware and software information app for Android devices.
play.google.com
2) turn on the "Use 'charged up to'" option from the settings
3) Restart the APP
4) Go to battery section and check for the "Charged up to" value(after the / (eg if value is 2000/6100 I need 6100))
I am getting ~6100 mAh
which is wayyyyy... lower than advertised 7000 mAh
Thank you so much for your help!

Don't concern yourself.
It's not uncommon for new batteries to show similar results.
When SOT drops to roughly 80% of it's original capacity, replace the battery.
At this point it's considered degraded and needs replacing before it fails. A battery failure can severely damage a phone with little or no warning.
A degraded cell is much more likely to fail.
Any battery swelling is a failure.
I have 2 Note 10+'s and their batteries are supposedly difficult to replace. Not so.
The right tools and techniques make it a relatively simple task. Look at a tear down vid for that model to see how tough it is or isn't.

You're welcome.
Likely not.
If you're getting good SOT I would not worry.
Not knowing it's nominal power usage makes it hard to gauge though.
If it's not running warm it should get good SOT otherwise it may be the battery.
Concersely if running warm than obviously it's using a lot of battery which explains the lower SOT.
Regardless the replacement probably isn't going to be a big deal.
So enjoy the device
Do a Screen Test to check the display.
Check the sensors etc with the app DevChek.

I dont think my battery life is as good as it should have been...
I had Poco X3(6000mAh) previously which had better battery life than my current F62.
Can you check out the values in the app I mentioned. It will be a great help. Thanks
Btw I am not the creator of that app and that app doesnt even have adverts so I am not gaining anything except release from my paranoia.

Also wear is wayyyy... more than what its supposed to be

yess sadly

How many years does Samsung support their phones with spare batteries when you eventually need to replace it or do they expect us to just chuck their latest and greatest phone out and buy a new phone every 2 years, rinse and repeat?

Out of curiosity for everybody that has already rooted are you able to check the following:
1. Possible to disable the power hungry Mongoose cores completely? This is a major source of power drain when not gaming
2. What are the default cpu and gpu governors and their respective governor tunable settings? Please post screenshots from a kernel manager
3. Can you disable schedUtil governor and allow cores to be switched off keeping only the power sipping A55 cores on?
4. How much is your active drain per hour? 10-15%/hour and standby drain per hour? Losing 5-10% every night or do you use greenify etc?
5. Please post your battery usage stats with general use SOT you achieve using GSam or Better Battery Stats which shows deep sleep stats
I have rooted Samsung F62. Let me know, if you need anything else.

Aoonen 2500 mAh battery

Got this stock thickness battery off of ebay.ph for about 18 USD.
And as you'd expect it's not a true 2500 mAh capacity ... at least that's what Battery Monitor Widget tells me. This should be a decent backup battery. Performance is similar to stock so far since I got it last Saturday (03/24), will have a better feel for it through this week's normal use.
Here's a screenshot :

I'm using MX Video player on SW decoder right now at 21% battery charge. Will do another full discharge and run through the calibration test again to see if the reading is consistent.

The capacity shown in software may not be relevant as battery capacity is hardcoded into kernel.

This is true. Extended capacity batteries tend to behave weirdly because of hardcoded capacity amount in the kernel.
EDIT: Mind if I know which app is that?

It's called "Battery Monitor Widget" by developer 3C
From the way it measures mAh, you need a charge of 50% or below, plug it in and from the time it takes to charge to 100% it can calculate the mAh ... strange because i know the way to calculate mAh is to have a steady load discharging the battery. i guess the opposite works too?
I googled exactly that battery and I found a report where someone checked the bettery properly and measured it's capacity (outside the phone)....
It had 1500 mAh like the stock on...
iridaki said:
If the kernel has hardcoded values for the battery capacity
(in which case, it does) no app whatsoever can tell you how much mAh your battery really is.
As I stated in the OP, I have a kernel that can override the values Sony set for the battery and allow the fuel gauge to read the battery capacity.
Anyone interested, let me know!

BATTERY MONITOR WIDGET CANNOT DISPLAY THE REAL CAPACITY.
Sony had hardcoded the stock mAh value in their kernels. See the thread from which I took the quote for more info.
Although, to be honest, a bigger battery in mAh same size as stock would be MUCH more expensive, so it's most batteries as such are likely fake.

Sure, go ahead and disregard what I said above about 1500 mAh battery capacity value being hardcoded in the kernel and Battery Monitor being totally unable to display the real capacity.

It's your opinion and I respect it. I don't have to believe it nor do I impose my own opinions upon others.
These are based on my tests and experiences. If you want me to believe in what you say, then go and use a stock kernel and use Battery Monitor Widget on your own extended battery and we can discuss on the same level.

It's not really an opinion but rather a fact. Any software needs a reference value that will be used to calculate battery status, remainging capacity etc.. Sony hardcoded stock battery capacity into kernel (1500mah). So any battery will show up as a 1500mah one unless you modify and compile a kernel for your battery.
I don't know if there is any kernel for arc/arcs that inquire battery for its real capacity. Maybe FXP cyanogen mod one as it's not based on Sony one.
I don't know if wrong capacity values have influence on battery life though.

And if you had read the link I sent you -something I did to HELP you, not criticise you in any way-
you would see that I did experimented A LOT on the subject and I was lucky enough to have Bazoocase
(a developer who introduced the workaround for "fried" battery fuel gauges) help me and explain things to me.
I was only passing on information that is useful, trying to help you because I was in your place not long ago when I bought my external battery.
Your test and experiences are based on false facts given by a 3rd party "universal" android app, not specific either to Sony devices nor Sony kernels.
Sure, hold on to them, I really can't afford to care, but if you actually want to evaluate your extended battery properly, you know where to find me.

Battery life after Jelly Bean Update

how was your battery life after update . my was suck drain very fast
I don't know how most people got better battery life, but mine worse, not extreme, but noticeable worse.
Android system and Android OS takes second and third place, which on ICS I barely see their place on top of battery usage.

Seems the same for me...at first after updating battery life was terrible..but after a few charges and reboots it seems to be getting better.
Download an app from the play store called "CPU Stats" and see if the CPU is under serious load when you're not doing anything. If it is, you may have the same issue I had which was that the media scanner was getting stuck in folders that had a lot of files in them. My idle cpu utilization now hovers between 8-30% on core 1 and core 2 stays sleep for the most part.

If you're rooted, look in system/bin on the root directory and see if you have a file named gsiff.daemon (also do the same for qosmgr) If so, add .bak to the end of it.

I offloaded my Titanium Backup folder to my PC & deleted it from my phone plus made sure to get rid of any corrupted pictures (aimed at the 0 bytes ones). So not only is my battery life better, but the performance is also much better because the CPU(s) aren't really doing anything until I actually use the phone. Note that this is an issue I've only had w/ Touchwiz Jellybean and never had it with CM10 or any AOSP based rom. This is a bug that Samsung/Google really needs to get on top of because I'm sure that a lot of people are having this problem and don't know how to fix it.

My battery life has been amazing
This was after the weekend. Friday Morning I charged it and then I was off I went to work. After I went to a party didn't charge my phone. Woke up in some girls room. Still surprised I had more than 50%. I didn't go home that day and everyone had an iphone so I couldn't charge my baby. Wake up go home and I had this much and I was like wow holy sh**.
Stats: I had a little over an hour of talk time and a little under 2 hours of screen time.
Yeah I know why is battery life good if you don't use the phone but dude seriously I had a GS2 and drainage on standby was so bad. I like that they improved standby battery drainage this was beautiful. I have the latest Stock Jelly Bean. Rooted, debloated myself with stock Kernel. Might add a new Kernel but don't really need to this is just great.

I was having this exact issue and fixed mine by copying my external SD card contents onto my desktop and then reformatting my sd card. After that I just transfered my old pictures and videos back to my card.
For people who are having poor battery life, the best thing you can do to help others help you is post a screen shot or at least write down what is using your battery and how long you have screen on time. When I was having my media issue it was obvious when looking at the battery usage since my cpu was constantly awake. Just saying "i have poor battery life" really doesn't explain much at all.
That would explain things... I had my media scanner get stuck and take down my battery a couple of days ago... after a reboot though it was much better... Though I should have let this run longer on battery just to see how long it would run.
Ok so since the JB update it seems my battery has been draining a bit faster. I've tried turning off sync and all the other normal stuff but it doesn't seem to help. Here are my stats and the slight lapse on the time line was when I was in CWM doing a nandroid backup.
I don't think that you can compare yours since you did a backup, that always drains the battery more than normal use would.
Well all I can say is its normally like that. I pull my phone off the charger at 7 am and by 4pm its usually at 10% with maybe an hour of on screen time. I'm just trying to figure out why it dies so much quicker than what most people are posting here. I try to keep everything closed and off and I've frozen all the bloatware.

No Flash with low Battery

Hi,
Is it normal for HTC phones to block the camera flash when the Battery is low?
I've been out last night and had about 14% battery, when I wanted to take a picture I got this message.
Even deactivating battery safe mode didn't allow for flash

Yes, in the past under 15% no flash. It was tweaked to 5% before. I forget if its the app, framework, or kernel. I am sure it will get tweaked when devs get the phone and start hacking away.

Business as usual. Most phones do this. Be glad they do this.
At 15% or below, the voltage of the battery is really low and if you use flashlight, which uses a lot of power = voltage goes down rapidly. And your phone "dies" quickly.
I'm totally fine with my phone dying right after I take this picture! I just want to take this goddamn picture with a flash.

Well good luck charging your phone with non-removable battery if the voltage dips too low.
There's a reason for these limitations and you don't wanna discharge lithium ion batteries past a certain point.
And that's not something which is hard to do with lithium's, if the voltage actually goes too low, the charging circuitry won't necessarily "recognize" the battery at all and refuse to charge.
Maybe there's some amount of trickle charge present so if you keep the phone connected it might be able to revive the battery (bump the voltage high enough for the charge circuit to work)
Though the chances of this are relatively low because most charging circuits are waaaay smarter these days and if there's some amount of trickle charge present, the current is so low it might not have any effect on the voltage of the battery..
But if you end up in that kind of situation, there's already permanent damage done to the cell (battery) and it will affect the battery life negatively.
And I wouldn't necessarily even want to attempt to revive a lithium ion battery which is wrapped around aluminium....

While you're technically correct it doesn't matter at all.
Phones are idiot proof. If the battery reaches a critical low the phone will shut down.
I doubt that a flash would use so much energy that a battery at 15% would instantly die from it.
AFAIK voltage is pretty persistent until it reaches 5%
It's 3.7V right now at 18%, I'll take a look at 5% and below.
Edit: here it is.
Drops below 3.6V after 3%
I think 5% is a good threshold for blocking flash....15% was probably based on state of affairs 5 years ago. Its another case of software not getting tuned to the times.

So you say now....until your phone dies because of constant snapping, and it doesn't have time to actually process the photos. While it may not take it very long to process the photos, a sudden death might result in a loss of quality.

Battery Capacity on the 5T

Hi all,
I'm using AccuBattery Pro and it shows my phone's battery capacity is at 3106 mAh. I understand this is a 3rd party app and it probably not 100% accurate. I'm curious to know what numbers you are getting. I just want a way to validate Oneplus is indeed giving me a 3300 mAh battery. Is it even possible to do?
Is there a better battery app I can use? Let me know...Thanks.

This app is giving you an estimate based on what it thinks your battery is charged to. Because dash charging is different and the battery itself doesn't process its own energy because the wall adapter does, the reported capacity will always be off calibration. Its the same way with my phone on a software based mAh tracker. With my battery tester i have in my garage my capacity is reported as 3300 but my actual capacity is 3221 due to the battery wear. This is my OP5 btw not the 5T.

If your battery life starts declining significantly such as losing 45 minutes to an hour or around a 8-10% overall idle drain in 24 hours u might have a faulty battery.

Hi all,
I'm using AccuBattery Pro and it shows my phone's battery capacity is at 3106 mAh.

Just curious after a month what your AccuBattery stats read now? My Battery Health reading is at 86% ~ 2842 mAh. I have had the phone for about a month and this seems to be troubling if accurate.

I ended up removing the app because I didn't want to get hung up on numbers. The phone does last me all day so I shouldn't complain. What about you?

It does last all day, however, I just don't seem to be getting the SOT numbers that others here are claiming to get. Also, I had a 64gb that I returned for the 128gb version and the first phone seemed to score better on the AccuBattery app than the 128gb version, which leads me to believe there is an inferior battery in the 128gb version.

Question Screen on Time

Hi Everyone,
The F62/M62 is a battery champ for sure, but a lot of reviews indicate that the efficiency is not as great as the M51 with the 730G. Please post your screen on time so that everyone could benefit from it.
PS: I saw in the M51 thread that people were getting 15+ hours of screen on time by disabling a lot of useless apps using Samsung Package disabler pro. Has anyone tried something similar on F62?
Cheers!
Following. I get 17hrs+ on my M51 with Greenify and certain apps disabled. Interested to see how F62 performs in comparison.

I am getting 10hr of screen on time on average on Samsung f62.
Cons :
Other then that I face random heating near camera
GPU is not that powerfull, Jitters while playing in full graphics : cod, pubg, asphalt 9.
It took 2 hrs to charge the phone.
No system app lock.
Pros :
Display is awesome.
Camera is superb in daylight images.
Full Knox support
Waiting for custom ROMs.
Hi everyone,
Just got a new F62 but I don't find this to be a battery champ. I hardly get any screen on time and the usual brightness is just good enough to see the screen in the dark. Attached is my battery usage. (working from home don't need high brightness). Not entirely sure if this is an issue with my device or if I'm missing something that I should be doing (removing useless apps and installing greenify)
Seems like a lot of people don't know how to measure SOT.

What would be a better way to measure it in that case? I'm sort of a noob in this

You know although it may seem alot by the total time it was unplugged, I didn't use it much in the last 2 days as you see, just 5.5 hrs in 48 isn't much

Do a test from "since last unplugged" then report back.

Exactly.... i have samsung f62 device. The battery backup is just fab. When it comes to gpu at starting while playing a high end game like asphalt or cod the performance was about 60 fps. Gradually devices gets to heat up and the cpu tends to be slower like it literally drops to 30 in order to reduce heat and yhats a bad thing in this software as of mi and oppo phones the software won't reduce cpu speed even when device gets hot but thats not safe anyway as it may explode. So what's the thing? Nothing just wait for the update of play those high end games in a cool place where cpu gets cooler even when gpu is hot

Lol. I don’t even own this phone anymore. Gone back to using the weak note 20 ultra battery.
So far I've managed 10hr 14min with 26% battery still remaining.
That was 2:30hr using Google nav on max brightness. The rest was mostly watching YouTube with mid brightness. I use digital wellbeing to measure my screen time.
Note: My phone is running the latest F62 firmware and I have partially debloaded my phone with ADB
I am getting 10 Hr average SOT with a full charge, almost 10% drop overnight. Software is poorly optimized. Samsung is doing nothing about it. My phone is under the Flipkart Smart Upgrade Plan so I can't even do anything. This is not the performance of a 7000mah battery, I thought the heavyweight was a tradeoff but it's not. Feel cheated.
I can do between 13 and 16 hours of screen time, if I turn on power saving, limit CPU by 70%, reduce brightness by 10%, I get more than 15 hours easy! I also disabled some apps, which maybe helped the autonomy!
